Loved Rudy’s breakfast Tacos. Such a great setting in the morning Sun streaming in, people sitting talking, eating. We stopped in while waiting for our Oil change next door. I’m back in Cali and wish I could go for their breakfast tacos. Simple tortilla, cheese, egg, but the kicker is the crispy potatoes that makes the Taco. Yum!

Loveliest, friendly folks behind the counter to help you, and will answer any question cheerfully. They really do want to please, and it's apparent. I discussed some Brisket options and my inquiries were dealt with thoroughly and as though "it not too much trouble to ask question". I had a big "To Go" order, and had Moist Brisket, pork ribs, and sausage, plus cole slaw and beans. I think only the sausage was just a bit less than exceptional, but still good. I am partial to Elgin's Southside Market's sausage so I may be hard to please. Very pleasant experience today at Rudy's on 183 North!

To start what an entrance, greeted immediately. If your new it is a little bit of a maze. This is my first time in this Rudy’s so it I will say keep walking until you see the ropes. As you can see here I am indulging in turkey 1/2 lbs some potato salad pickles Rudy’s bbq sauce and white bread, for my drink sweat tea I added one lime one lemon and it needed some extra sugar I will say it’s not real Texas sweet tea. The pickles alone are a little bitter, the Rudy’s sauce has quite a bit of pepper, if your looking for a hot bbq sauce this is more family friendly until you put a pill of it then your kick comes in.The potato salad is a slam dunk. It’s creamy the texture is just right. The potatoes were cooked to perfection so it’s all blended perfectly. Not too overpowered with pickles or mustard this has the perfect combination. Great job here. The turkey test is now happening both with and without sauce. To start without sauce, mind blown wow I am shocked! Delicious my mouth is watering from the moisture, it’s like that thanksgiving turkey you wait for all year cooked to perfection!!! Damn I don’t even need the sauce however let’s try with the Rudy’s sauce....I will say it does give it a bit of a honey spice kick as my mouth is tasting all the different flavors hitting at once. Last but definitely not least let’s make a turkey sandwich sooo not a fan. Gonna stick to keeping it all separate. So recap pretty amazing place. Even the cleanest place been to so far!!! Keep it up and you will definitely be the best restaurant operation in America! This is why you get 5 stars it meet all my criteria.

Rudy’s is my favorite bbq place. This location has best staff. It still amazes me how perfectly tender they make the meat. You put in the moist soft chicken in your mouth and trust me you will be amazed. Their sauces are too good that I buy a bottle when I visit them. Cream corn is perfect side for their smoked bbq bird. They do offer bread on side which felt weird at my first visit but now I ask for more, pairs perfect.

Come for Breakfast Tacos!! Bbq is great without hours of waiting in line, turkey is legit, potato salad is like mom's, and the banana pudding is pretty good, though the chocolate looked better. Breakfast Tacos are Amazing! They pump out so many for their grab and go bar, or you can order a custom taco and go eat on the patio; bacon, egg, potato, and cheese always delivers! So good and great service!

This is a must stop. Great location. Tons of parking and well lit. Smaller wall menu. Menu is medium priced However just enought to chose from.. Everything is big in this location. Just enjoy eating here. Food is great and service is also awesome. Very well cleaned. Lots of food and drink selection. Extra sauces on each table. Just a great experience. Great store and layout! I was initially disappointed by there not being a drive thru, but the store layout to quickly grab a drink and prepackaged item was AWESOME! The quality and quantity is always great taste and flavor! Thanks for keeping it consistent Rudy’s!!

Rudy's is one of my favorite restaurants to grab barbecue in Austin. The two meats that you MUST get are their ribs and their extra moist brisket. The ribs were so tender they fell off the bone when I pick them up. The extra moist brisket is by far the best brisket I've had at ANY barbecue restaurant. They use a mustard base potato salad which is what I prefer over mayonnaise. Unlike Salt Lick, Rudy's accepts credit cards/debt cards; so no problems there. Many people almost exclusively go here for their creamed corn, so I would also recommend trying that if you enjoy creamed corn. Rudy's offers a lot of seating and the line moves quickly for you to get your food. Highly recommended and better than Salt Lick in every imaginable way!

Pretty good bbq. Great service. Free bread. Has diet Dr Pepper in fountain. The cream corn was really different from what I am used to. I think it was literally corn with cream, like cereal. Pretty weird.

This Rudy’s was superior to others. The pork ribs were up to their normal standards, but their moist brisket, jalapeño sausage and smoked turkey were exceptionally tender and juicy. I was surprised that the place wasn’t packed. There was ample seating. Unfortunately, we couldn’t try the prime rib because it sold out fast along with the baby back ribs not long after. It turned out to be a relaxing dining experience in a Friday night.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere here. Great food. Had a bit of everything. The brisket, cream corn, and potatoes are in my opinion the best things on the menu. Loved that it has a gas station attached. Awesome!

Love Rudy's. Try to eat here whenever we come to Austin to visit our Son and his family. Love their BBQ. Their moist brisket is so delicious. My wife loves their spare ribs and cream corn. Their help is always super friendly. They have breakfast tacos that we are going to try this time we are here.

The brisket and turkey were the best, as usual, as were all the sides. The creamed corn is our favorite. My dog was able to eat on the patio. He had prime rib. He has cancer, so it was his last meal out and he loved it!

My favorite barbeque in Northern Austin. Workers are always super energetic and the food is consistently good. Line always moves pretty fast. I always get the half chicken and jalapeno link. They'll give you stupid amounts of Texas Toast if needed. The fancy hand cleaning machine near the restroom entrance is super nice. Now this is Texas barbeque.

A must visit and try. This is their niche. Very enjoyable food for the palate. My rating is not comparing them to other BBQ places. Rudy's is different. My whole family of 7 never ate from them. And all of us said nice things about the bbq pulled brisket, chicken, sliced brisket, potato salad, bbq sauces, and Cole slaw. There were pickels and jalapeño peppers which added to the flavors.

We had the pork ribs, brisket, potato salad, and peach cobbler. Overall we were impressed with everything. The ribs were AMAZING and the peach cobbler was very good too! The brisket was good but I would have preferred more ribs over getting the brisket. And finally the potato salad was a good standard version.

It has been decades since I first tasted Rudy's brisket and almost 20 years later I felt the same happiness whenever I put that damn moist brisket into my mouth. Pure joy and happiness! Ribs are not that good for me, don't trust me too much on this as I am completely sold on brisket and I felt the pork rib is not as soft and juicy as the moist brisket. But my other friends who can't eat beef, they enjoyed the ribs too! For side dish, my usual order will be the coleslaw, potatoes and you need to try the corn too in a creamy sauce, it is nice as well. Rudy's Rudy's Rudy's Rudy's Rudy's Rudy's!!!

Also lots of great brisket and many meats available for dinnertime.....also lots of great sides like creamed corn, coleslaw, fresh made potato salad.....very affordable as well....give it a try

All of the smoked meat was excellent. Juicy, and flovorful. The wet brisket and smoked turkey were delicious. We especially liked the Spicy Chopped. All of the sides were very good. The potato salad and cold slaw were very tasty. We would definitely recommend. The meats were somewhat pricey, but most good BBQ meat is. This is not something most people have the time and patience to cook at home

Nov2022 : 5⭐: I would recommend this restaurant and this work crew. I stopped by this restaurant location as a result of checking out the area for a decent place to get some BBQ. This location was fairly close to my hotel room and within walking distance from the hotel. When I located the restaurant, there were two fuel pumps in front of the main doors. There were two handicapped parking spaces on the side of the building. There was no available parking in front because of the fuel pumps. When entering the front doors, there are drink serving machines to the immediate left. There were a couple of workers in the corner to the immediate right. The entryway into the dining room was just passed the cashier on the right when entering the restaurant. One of the cashiers greeted me and gave instructions to the ordering food process. I asked for samples of popular meats and received the samples. Each of the meats were pretty good in their own way. The meats were sold in half pound increments. I tried the chopped beef and it was a red buzzer for my taste buds and it was not spicy. The types of brisket were sampled and one selected. The ribs were not a part of the sampled meat, but I chose some anyway. This was a different set up than I was accustomed to, but it obviously works for this location.

Consistently great customer service! They are always willing to give me as much bread as I request with my brisket orders, even though I know it's a bit more than normal (I make skinny sandwiches, so need more bread). This location is well designed to handle a large volume of customers, keeping them orderly, and engaged. You can watch the brisket being carved on the TV, or, when close to the counter, behind the registers; you can drool over the banana pudding and cold sides (potato salad and coleslaw); and you can take your time choosing from the great variety of bottled drinks on ice: both soda and beer. The brisket is solid--it stands its own against all its competitors.  The turkey is awesome too. Pork ribs are crazy tasty, but definitely try their baby back ribs. You won’t be disappointed. Finally, a shout out for their new potatoes.  As far as I'm concerned, no Rudy's meal is complete without them. **can't forget--they have great easy to grab and go breakfast tacos every morning too!

As a Texan this is a real Texas barbecue hit! Everyone I take loves their amazing turkey, brisket, and barbecue sauce!! Also being a volleyball player it is very conveniently placed near the round rock sports center!

My brother lives in Texas,so he brought me here for lunch. Very surprised, very good indeed! I don't think any new comer will be disappointed coming here with friends here. I thought the prices are in mid range. So it doesn't cost an arm and leg to eat here. Clean atmosphere. I don't have any problem recommending Rudy's and they even have Rudy's in Arizona.

Hands down some of the best BBQ. My favorites are the lean brisket and the St. Louis style ribs. Their sauce is absolutely delicious and pairs perfectly with the brisket and a pickle, which they have for sides. In typical fashion, they provide an almost unlimited amount of white bread, but I do not fill up on that, I save room for the meat.

Family here visiting Austin, of course will have to take them to eat one of the best BBQ in town, also have to visit this old store off 183. We ordered Moisture Brisket, Original and Jalapeño Links, Baby Short Ribs!! Coleslaw and Creamy Corn is also a must! Family loved how it taste and will come again on their next visit!

Rudy's is a Texas staple. I have never been disappointed. Their sauce is more on the earthy, spicy side as opposed sweet. They serve you on butcher paper cause plates are for fancy people. Oh, and don't wear anything that requires dry cleaning. Its BBQ.

Asked a question and got escorted to the line with a full explanation of the menu, the food, and the process thru the line. He spent the time explaining patiently and answering my question about foods. The meats I tried(pork loin and pulled)were wonderful, moist, and not greasy. Seating is several long rows of folding tables in a community picnic style.

First time and visiting from out of town. The counter guy walked us through the way they operate — meat by the pound, no set meals — including giving us samples, which were so good! We had the moist brisket, a jumbo potato, some pulled pork and other sides. Everything was perfectly flavored and expertly cooked. Have the banana pudding. So yum! Shout out to the guy in line behind us who we tried to let skip us and who said “they’ll let you try samples to find what you like!” Excellent service and atmosphere. Clean tables and easy supplies to take our leftovers home.

Just swung by Rudy’s “Country Store” and Bar-B-Q and it was a delightful BBQ feast. I got the moist brisket (½ lb.), jalapeño cheddar sausage, and pork spare ribs, with sides of new potatoes, cream corn, and Rudy’s beans — every bite was smoky and satisfying. The jumbo smoked potato loaded with brisket was a fun bonus. The vibe is casual and friendly, with a self-serve condiment bar (onions, pickles, jalapeños) that added a nice touch. The staff were pleasant and efficient even when the place got busy. I’ll be back to try their green chile stew and finish with a banana pudding next time.

A busy and delicious smelling barbecue joint! This location has a fun dining area perfect for meeting new people. The picnic tables gave the entire experience a “backyard barbecue feel.” A perfect venue for a relaxed atmosphere. Food is served in a small plastic crate with butcher paper liner. Leftovers are also taken in butcher paper. I enjoyed the extra lean Brisket. I’m sure the fully marbled would have been more flavorful but I can’t do the fat! The three bean salad was a bit sweet for my taste (my friend agreed) The potato salad was delicious. My other friend truly enjoyed the beef and the pork ribs. Overall I think it’s a great place to visit. I’ll take anyone visiting town here for the experience alone. Gotta love Texas barbecue!

I enjoy Rudy’s Country Store for their barbecue. Today we got turkey as wall as brisket. They also have sides you would want with bbq. They also have gas and a concurrence store.

For gas station BBQ, it’s really good. You can definitely get better BBQ, but worth stopping here Oddly, the brisket is not as good as the other meats. Pulled pork is good, the ribs were good, and the chicken was good. The sausage is very average.

Moist brisket for the win! Very smoky flavor but really that moist and juicy meat is so worth it. The prime rib was terrible so I would skip it. Flavor is ok at best. The meat was so tough and chewy. But the pulled pork was the clear winner I think. The sausage didn't have much to write about.

Diabetics should avoid this place. Everything will raise your blood sugar too high too fast

You gotta get breakfast from here, grab and go tacos are good but if you go to the counter you can get fresh tacos made or you can get a breakfast bowl, it comes with two scrambled eggs and three items of your choice. It's a pretty good deal, you'll pay a little over $4.

Its good BBQ for sure and the price point is way better then the Craft BBQ joints in town. If your feeding a lot of people, this is the place to go. Overall solid meats, a bit on the dry side....Ribs were history and way over cooked....Sauce is good, side dishes are good....Pork Green chile lacked pork....and rudys is definitely a great spot for breakfast tacos.

Best gas station BBQ you will ever have! I got the juicy brisket, ribs, and a jalapeño smoked sausage. The brisket wasn't as juicy as I had hoped it would have been, but the ribs and sausage are amazing! Rudy's stew is delicious!

This is my third Texas barbecue restaurant that I had a pleasure to visit. Although I should not, I can't help but compare this place to my favorite hard 8 barbecue in the Dallas area. I was very impressed with the quality and flavor of their brisket. I would say it is as good as hard 8's. I would definitely come back again.

The meat is cut and placed in pan and you take it outside to eat. They gave you the Texas style white bread with the sliced meat. I feel the rib was bit of overpriced.

Amazing customer service! This was our first time here, the team helped us become familiar with the menu, & sample some of their meats with no bones. The food, however, we’d rate a 3. The brisket & ribs were pretty dry. The jalapeño sausages were GREAT. They’re what pulled the food rating from a 1. The prime rib was a good texture (as it’s only cooked Medium Rare) & flavor. There aren’t many options for BBQ sauce either. Wouldn’t return, but it was a good one time lunch experience. We might try again for their breakfast.

Service was amazing. It was my first time here and one of the workers took his time to run through every item on the menu despite the long line building behind me. Super sweet and much appreciated. The creamed corn was the perfect side to the brisket. Didn't really care for the creamy coleslaw.

I asked for the spicy rub in the chicken and the guy at front desk was nice to give some as a side at no cost; Turkey was so tender it melted in mouth, would recommend for any one visiting Austin area

Order arrived promptly. If you like spicy Texan meats and beans this is one of your eating establishments. Food was hot and wrapped good. Brisket was juicy and filling. Ribs were ok. Banana pudding was good. Lots of bread given. Chicken was dry. Corn was laced with black pepper. Flatware was flamboyant......lol

On a vacation here in Texas, I have tried multiple BBQ at different cities so far, to be fair it’s not near the top level of my list, the meat was on the slightly dry side, seasoning should’ve been better. However, the service is really good, price is inexpensive.

Dinner with our of town work team of 5 people. Ordered 1 lb of fatty brisket, 1.5 lbs pork ribs, 2 sausages, and 1/2 chicken + bottled drinks. All the meats were good, but perhaps not as "smoky" as I was hoping for. Sausage skin was a bit thick. Chicken could have had a crisper skin. Beans, potato salad, and slaw for sides. All considered it a good meal. And an amazing value, feeding 5 grown men to full for less than $25/person.

Texas BBQ scene ain't no joke... Y'all take your BBQ very seriously. Rudy's "Country Store" and Bar-B-Q looks like a local staple that has been around for a while, and just knows what they are doing. Stop by for some good old-fashioned barbecue... with vinyl tablecloth and all. They have several locations Everything is BIGGER in TX!! This venue is huge. Parking is not an issue, with numerous spots outside in their private parking lot. Plenty of seating inside and even more room outside in the "patio" area. Sufficient amount of hand washing stations all around the venue with napkin dispensers. There is a condiment station in the middle along with containers to go in case you can't finish your meats. It feels like they thought of everything BBQ related. Staff was friendly and helpful. #BBQ Tray: ~ BABY BACK RIBS - 4/5 ~ BRISKET MOIST - 4/5 ~ RUDY'S BEANS - 4/5 No issues coming back and trying the rest of the menu.

Our most recent visit, the husband and I shared a plate of food and dined in. We had: Brisket - we always enjoy the brisket here. I have had better in some places but it is also better than most places I have tried that is BBQ. I like that it is not over the top peppery but it is also NOT lacking in flavor. We order this usually and am never disappointed. Jalapeno Sausage - packed full of flavor yet even though the name implies there would be spiciness to it, it's really not spicy - the flavors are very well balanced. This is another protein we generally order from here. Potato Salad - Potatoes have a good texture, this is not an overly sweet type of potato salad which is good because I do not like the sweet ones. It is not salty either and overall is well balanced. I would get this again. Cream Corn - this is my favorite place to get cream corn. Creamy, nice texture, delicious! Highly recommended. BBQ sauce - not my favorite but I am generally not a fan of BBQ sauce. I figure if the meat is good enough well then there is no need to cover the flavor of the meat with BBQ sauce. All in all, we know what we like and we stick to it. We come here not only for dinner or lunch but for their grab and go breakfast tacos as well which we always enjoy. We will always have Rudys as one of our regular spots for meals weather dine in or take out. For the quality of food, you cannot beat the prices and customer service is ALWAYS spectacular - no matter what location we visit.

Yo, I apologize in advance, but whoever is responsible for cooking y’all‘s pigs in a blanket needs to hear this. Please stop overcooking the dang weenies,please! I used to love these things and now it’s just ruining my mornings. Im hung over and I just want a tasty piggy in a blanket to ease the pain, not some dehydrated dog pecker. Also, I got a half pound of brisket and y’all specifically said you give me the fatty piece but 90% is too dry. Seems like a common theme.

Breakfast tacos were great. The spicy chip was the best followed by the sausage.

The creamed corn and Ribs were my favorite. You pay based on weight of the meat you order which I thought was very interesting for a "bbq joint". The prime rib slices we got were overcooked and quite disappointing to me. The brisket was okay well. You MUST get the creamed corn.

Not sure what happened to Rudy’s but it was quite bad. I’ve been coming here for 20 years and never had moist brisket this bad from here. It’s as if if was sliced the day before and left out to dry. Sausage was good, but it’s nearly impossible to screw that up. Service was lacking as well; I asked for 4 slices of bread and got 0.

Baby back ribs were cold, dried out and stale, and the sausage was so plain, no flavor whatsoever. Crummy BBQ overall. Won't go back.

Takeout at our once favorite branch at Research Blvd, used to served the best texture juicy BBQ. Kinda disappointed with the meats today. The briskets is not juicy moist like before, texture is dry and tough. The baby back ribs is disappointing too as the fats is lingering thick on the ribs, dry and tough, less flavorful too. Wonder is the previous pit master has left or transferred to other branch. There is definitely rooms for improvements.

Rudy’s used to have some of the best breakfast tacos if you wanted something simple. Today, I got this from the 183 location. I took a bite, and for a split second, I thought, Did they put sour cream on it? It was sour, then it went bitter. I got rancid sausage. Usually, their sausage is reddish tan in color with a good snap. Apparently, I got the bad breakfast taco. I went to take it back, but the two employees were talking (I guess someone had to leave early), and I didn’t want to interrupt, so that’s on me for not asking for a receipt. I recommend putting a date on them. I’m assuming I just got one that had been skipped over for a week or two, which was just my bad luck—I won't be getting sausage again anytime soon.

Let down after this recent visit to Rudy’s. This location was one of my favorites since I first moved here 5 years ago. The brisket was on point and the chicken was JUICY. This was definitely not the case today. The moist usually has flavor, that’s missing. The chicken was dry, burnt, and doesn’t taste taste as good anymore. Ribs even missed the mark. Sausage def not what I’m use to be. Turkey isn’t as good as it was while juicy just isn’t tasty. Sides at least were consistent and staff is super friendly as always. Called and confirmed they went corporate. Guess they are going for mediocre bbq now.
