Excellent food! Steak was cooked to perfection! This was my first time at this restaurant and I was surprised by the menu selections and the knowledge of our server. However, it was a bit pricey as I spent $350 for dinner for 4. Overall the experience was great just be prepared to pay for the experience!

I've always loved eating at Saltgrass, but I haven't been to a Saltgrass in over a decade. I'm a little surprised at how much the menu has changed since then but the butter and steaks are still such a wonderful pairing together. Somehow when we ordered the fried pickles and peppers 🌶 (which are jalapeños btw) we had no peppers at all in the basket. Told our server and the manager fixed it immediately. I ordered Pat's Prime Ribeye and my girlfriend ordered the Gulf Coast Steak and Shrimp. Overall I am very happy with the meal. Just wish it was a bit cheaper on the wallet.

In our current days of inflation, you cannot beat the value you get for a solid dining experience. The food quality is superb.

A few weeks ago, I took a date to another steakhouse. This is not an exaggeration. The steaks came out cold. I was so disappointed. We were so hungry by the time we go to eat that we just ate them. We didn't complain. It was a real waste of time and money. This last weekend, we wanted another steak. We had never been to Saltgrass, so we took a chance on it. What a different experience! Service was outstanding. The steaks were cooked to perfection. When I put a bite of my steak in my mouth, I made an audible moan. It was so good, I felt the flavor through my veins. I know that sounds crazy, but we did not know what to expect. They blew us away. Everything was delicious! We are looking forward to our next trip to Saltgrass! Thank you Saltgrass for delivering. We got what we paid for! And we will do it again!

In my 16 years in US I never had the opportunity for tasting a real Texas steak .. was in this place when my friends Lourdes and Ben gave this great gift and let me tell you was amazing and divine!! My brother his wife, and their 4 kids were visiting from out of state on mother's day. My sister in law wanted steak on mother's day, which made me nervous since that is like the busiest meal of the year for eating out. Wanted to take them to a "Texas" place. Glad I did! Made reservations around 36 hours in advance, which was easy and reassuring. Everything went so smooth! Our server, Zack, was very accommodating, even though we had quite a few special orders and the kids needed multiple refills and extra attention. He even took a photo of us for mother's day! Gotta say, I was expecting more chaos with dinner on mother's day, but Salt Grass was running like a el oiled machine. All the wait-staff were friendly and helped each other with all aspects of service, so our food came quickly we got plenty of attention the entire time despite being a packed house. The food was delicious! (Except the asparagus)

I'm a visitor to Austin, and I had a truly wonderful dinner here. My waiter, Brady, was friendly and helpful. The salad was fresh, cool and crisp, and came in a jiffy! My steak was perfectly cooked, tastey, juicy and filling. All the people there were having a good time. And I got quite a bit of value for my dollar! If I have a chance before I head home, I'll go back for another dinner! It's a great family restaurant. I noticed someone said "Ruth's Chris it is not.: Well, I just want to say good. RC is a great place to eat when someone else is paying and all you care about is scoring points. Saltgrass is for real people.

Jesse was our server and Josh helped him out. I had called ahead and spoken with Megan. It was because of her professionalism, but I helpfulness and great attitude that I decided to eat here. I ordered the Ribeye, loaded baked potato and Caesar salad. The Caesar had its own original flavor, not quite what I would associate with a Caesar salad, but but it was tasty. We were a little hesitant after reading some of the negative reviews, but there was no reason to be! The food was excellent, the steaks came out just perfect, great recommendation of wine from our waitress. Service was outstanding and the manager walks the floor making sure everything is going well. Fantastic way to close out our COTA weekend in Austin.

There’s not much to say, considering we were starving. This was my 1st time here. I was unaware we needed to make reservations for a party of 20. I thought we would just have a wait time. However, they still worked us in! Top shelf steak and service. Loved this place. One of the best steaks I had in a long time in a restaurant. We celebrated my Father in laws 85 birthday there and it was top notch in all ways possible.

We came here for my friends 70th birthday party. The staff here was super friendly. We had about 20 of us at two tables. Everyone was super happy with our drinks, meals and service. We stayed a little longer to eat cake and open a few presents. Saltgrass was perfect.

Ashley provided great customer service by recommending drinks as well as food options as it was my first visit. Steak was cooked and seasoned to perfection. I will definitely be coming back to visit in the future.

We were in town and visited this location early one evening. Relaxed atmosphere, very friendly staff. Everyone ordered steak entrees and we were all very pleased. My group of three sat at the bar and service was fast and efficient. The food was very good. My friend loved her steak. The grilled shrimp were cooked just right. The manager became a bit prickly when he started counting the number of alcoholic beverages ordered, even though our stay was over a 2-1/2 hour period and we spent $200+ on food and drink. Besides the manager run-in, all was well.

Very solid steak house. The service was great, our server was very attentive the entire meal. The food was very solid however the Tbone that I had was definitely not the best grade cut and had clearly been tenderized. The flavor was great so ultimately it was a very good meal. This restaurant is really good. The atmosphere and the staff are absolutely amazing. I ordered a 12 oz ribeye and asked for it medium rare. It came out a little more on the rare side and once I complained about it they put it back on the stove and cooked it a little longer. It was better but not great unfortunately. They did give me more mashed potatoes though so that was nice. Still a great restaurant though just a bad experience with the steak.

Ruth’s Chris it is not, but it’s a great quick steak option with a country feel. Every year I get $25 to spend for my birthday. How many restaurants give you that kind of loyalty reward? I love their big glasses for water and soda. Truly Texas sized. I wish they had booths.

Let me start by saying the only reason I'm giving them less than 5 stars is solely due to service. My salad was delicious! No leftover to take home, lol! My boyfriend enjoyed his food as well. The downside for us was the service. 1st waitress to our table was cute as a button and so sweet, but was immediately replaced with someone who I shall call Debbie. Downer. This lady said she'd be the replacement because the other girl had to leave, ok, no problem. We ordered some queso to start and waited and watched plate after plate pass us by for nearly 20 minutes... we kept looking around to see Ms. Downer tending bar and simply forgetting we were there. We stopped a waiter who I'll call Captain Save the Day. As we explained our situation, he immediately rescued us. After he got us back on track, Ms. Downer came back. The energy was so negative and fake I just couldn't take part in the charade. Everything she did or didn't do took 10 minutes or more (yes, I timed her). She asked if we wanted dessert while slapping the receipt down on our table, and we said no, but then we changed our mind 10 minutes later and got the carrot cake, which was delicious!! I recommend it if you go. Bottom line... food was so yummy and worth the trip. The service was some of the worst I've witnessed. For this reason, we will be trying a different location soon.

We had a reservation on Father’s Day, and getting a table was easy with no wait, which we appreciated. Our waiter mentioned a Father’s Day special for the bone-in ribeye—regularly priced at $45, but supposedly on sale for $35. Based on that, our table ordered two. While explaining the specials, he also kept pushing alcoholic drinks. We politely declined twice and mentioned that we don’t drink, but he continued to be persistent. As someone who is staying sober, this felt uncomfortable and disrespectful. What really disappointed me, though, was the misleading information about the pricing. When we received the bill, we were charged full price for the steaks—$45 each—with no discount reflected for the "Father’s Day special." When I asked the waiter, he apologized and said the price shown on the menu was already discounted. That explanation doesn’t make sense—what business would print hundreds of new menus for a one-day special? It felt dishonest, and I left feeling misled. The steak itself was good, but not worth $55, especially under these circumstances.

Still like saltgrass but yesterday picked up curbside, I guess I need to check the steak before I leave because my medium steak was a little more than well done. Sucks getting home to a dried up steak, not going to drive back 20min. Inside service is the way to go it seems.

I went on a Saturday.....(last minute) My family waited 45-1hr... My table was given away... Young lady (Host) made sure we had a table in 5mins.... It was unbelievable pack! I was not 🚫 pleased with the food and service was ok! I will Not Go Back!!

How is anyone rating this disgusting place 5 stars????? After waiting 5 minutes at the host station ... The host (?) Attempted to seat me in a fly filled alcove next to some sort of large dinner... I asked to be seated in the main dining area and was accommodated ... after waiting 11:45 minutes a server arrived to greet me.... I ordered fried onions which were served less than hot along with an order of stale beer bread.....my sever re-appeared shortly at which time I ordered my steak rare with a baked potato and a dinner salad...the entree and salad were served at the same time..... which Is a pet peave I have...Of course serve the salad before the main course! The steak had nearly no glycations and was COLD the baked potato was dry COLD and if this is what is called loaded .... Well the meal... Was just aweful so was the less than mediocre service... This is the management failing what a horrible experience! 2 stars because the server wanted to do a good job but obviously lacked ANY training On proper service. $46.53... for this???

Country Fried steak was over done and very dry!

While dining at saltgrass steakhouse I ordered chicken fried chicken. First time food came out burned. Second time it came out raw. Numerous customers were returning their food for undercook or raw food while we were dining and staff members are very rude.

We ordered medium well meat, but the meat that was delivered was barely cooked. It was the worst meat I've ever eaten in my life, and we used to go there all the time. I'll never go there again, and I won't recommend it to anyone.

My husband and I came around 4pm. We we're greeted nice then when we were seated our waiter (white girl with a fish tatoo) gave us a " I hate my job HI" , I should of walked out then! We ordered the shrimp and burgers meals. We waited over 40mins for our food! And to top it off the lettuce was discolored and gross ( it wasnt purple lettuce, it was old lettuce)! I wouldnt even feed my 🐢 this lettuce. The shrimp was stale with an old flavor taste. I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone not even my enemy!!!

The food was average , I had driven past this place several times so on a whim I stopped. Took several minutes to get seated and after everything was said and done I realized the kitchen just sucks. Bland and really no flare to the food. It's unfortunate but the fact is: for half the price you could go elsewhere for the same food. Bummer.... Update: 9 months later and this place continues to disappoint. I took photos at the bar and how filthy it currently is... definitely do not recommend it.

My party and I had a 5:45pm reservation on a Wednesday night. It took 5 minutes to get us seated. We then waited at our table for 20 min and had time to decide on drinks/apps/dinner and never got even so much as a water. I made eye conact with 4-5 staff members and no one ever came by. We found another restaurant and made a 6:30pm reservation down the street. When we got up to leave one of the servers held the door and the two hosteses thanked us for coming.

The Maudeens fillet Oscar that I got was probably the worst one I think I’ve ever had ever at any saltgrass ever! And I basically got told that sometimes that’s just how it is. I don’t think we’ll ever come back to this saltgrass ever again. The mac & cheese wasn’t very good. Etc etc. pretty much everything was bad. If we go out again any time soon it’ll be Bob’s or Kirby‘s or something like that.

This restaurant has always been our go to place and always received excellent service until today. The server gave our food to another table and after the other table had touched our food he tried to give it to us. After we told him we would not accept it, he agreed to make another plate for us. We waited over 20 minutes for a margarita and we never saw our server again. We had to hunt him down for our check. Of course we got the lame excuse they were short handed. There was no hostess at the door to seat people and people were walking out after waiting to be seated. We always leave a generous tip however after the poor service today a tip was not warranted.

Ordered 16 oz ribeye and the salmon on Uber Eats from this location. The ribeye wasn’t edible. By far the worst ribeye I’ve ever had. A steak knife could barely cut it. The salmon was edible but not by much. Would of thrown that in the garbage too but I had to eat something. Spent $100 and that’s the last time I will order from this Salt Grass.

I usually loveee saltgrass , It was my first time ordering online - but when my food got here , my soup was missing and my steak (medium well) was undercook ... I literally spent $70 on my dinner and I didn't get to eat my steak. I called them and they apologized and said I would get a free steak on my next visit... I will not be ordering online anymore. Very disappointed and upset ... It's so undercook I can't even chew it ...

I love salt grass & i usually get the same dish every time I come but this time I decided to try something different which was the blackened redfish on Nov 16th 2025. I was served uncooked fish you can see at the tail it was not cooked all the way. I had suffered bacterial infection from consuming this uncooked dish. I Was very disappointed cause I eat here all the time without no problems.
