Lovely atmosphere, great service. The food was ok. The poke while tasty a small portion. The coup of chowder also small. The starter bread was very tasty. $48 later no alcohol and still hungry.

The atmosphere can not be beat at this place on the island compared to the other restaurants. We got a seat right next to the water so you could hear the crashing waves. The bread was amazing! I got the lobster roll which was good but not the best I have ever had. My husband got the raw oysters which he loved and the Seafood Paella Valenciana which was good but had a very strong wine flavor that overpowered the dish a little. The service was good and fast! We came on off season (October) so there was no wait but I would imagine on peak season there would be quite the wait.

Bluewater Avalon Restaurant is truly amazing. They greeted you with a warm sourdough bread with a huge dollop of butter. The fried fish is a delicious white fish in a crispy fried batter. The French fries are golden crispy with a soft center. The clamp chowder is silky and full of clams and potatoes. YUMMY! Jesus, our server, is amazing. He's very attentive, knowledgeable, friendly,and most of all caring. I HIGHLY recommend The Bluewater Avalon when you're in Catalina Island. They have the best view of the ocean. Just watch out for the bees.

View was great and the food was even better. You sit on the shore the sound of water waves makes it so peaceful and romantic. They’re usually pretty busy through out the day. No reservation! But believe me the wait is worth!!!

Had an incredible experience at Bluewater in Catalina. The Togarashi Spiced Ahi Tuna was phenomenal—perfectly seared with bold flavors and great texture. Also tried the clam chowder, which was rich and comforting. The rest of the dishes were excellent too — fresh, flavorful, and well-prepared. Add to that the breathtaking harbor views, and you’ve got the perfect coastal dining spot. Highly recommend

The food was 10/10 but the service was 100/10. My mom and I loved our waitress. Only reason I'm leaving a review is because Alana was excellent! Funny, and took care of us so well! Food was exemplary, must try restaurant for any meal of the day!! The view made for some great pictures from our vacation. Can not recommend Bluewater enough, and try the Coconut Margarita! We had 3 😋🍹

Everything we had here at Bluewater was great! In fact we came back a second time for the cocktails! The warm crusty sourdough is IT! Yum. The calamari was tender and the cioppino was excellent!

We came in for the homemade deserts and coffee. They did not disappoint! One of the best cheesecake I’ve had! And the Java mud pie was awesome!!

Such a beautiful location! The sound of the waves, the smell of the ocean, an amazing view!🥰 it was my birthday and we mentioned it at the entrance and ask for a table by the water- and we got one. The service was friendly, but while we were having lunch, the waiters came up about 15 times, asking if they could clear the plates (even though there was still food on them) and if we needed anything else.. it was a bit intrusive. The lobster roll was a bit dry:( They didn’t offer a birthday treat, but that’s ok, not many restaurants go above and beyond for their guests like that.

Bluewater Grill is a great spot with awesome views of the water. The seafood was fresh and well cooked and the portions were a good size. The service was really good too, everyone was friendly and attentive. Prices are a little on the higher side but that’s to be expected on the island. The atmosphere made it worth it, especially if you sit outside by the water.

We came here for dinner on our first night in Catalina, and it was good choice. Everyone liked their meals and the fries were the best ones we had on the island. My sea bass was meh, lacked in flavor, but everything else was very good! We got: Crispy Calamari Gold Spotted Sea Bass, Pacific New York Strip Angus Cheeseburger Grilled Chicken Chopped Salad Spicy Margaritas

Good food, great service with ocean views. A good spot to grab dinner and drinks. The staff were friendly and kept up with our larger party of 8 people. We had the crab and artichoke dip. Cheesy for sure and the crab was nice, but flavors a little mild and missing a "kick" or something. Chips were thick and held up from cracking. Fisherman's platter had crispy breading. The combo of fish to shrimp to scallops was nice. And the flavors a bit muddled because of the deep fried nature of this dish. Not much difference between the items, so maybe just order the fish and chips. Fries were also standard. Scallop appetizer had some great texture with the bacon and solid flavors. Calamari was also a good choice and pretty standard in terms of cook and sauces. Lobster roll was the star. Fresh meat and hearty. Generous portion. Succulent. With so many restaurants within a 5 minute walk of this spot, it was good, but does not stand out to me. Happy we tried it. Very consistent. One-and-done.

We visited this restaurant during our trip to Catalina Island, and while it has potential, our experience was mixed. They open at 11 a.m., and even though everything looked ready, we weren’t allowed in early , we had to wait outside for 15 minutes until they officially opened. We were a large group of about 10 people, and trying to get seated together turned into an unnecessarily complicated process. We were asked to go back to the line, wait again, and the overall seating experience felt unwelcoming and disorganized. That said, once we were seated, things improved a bit. The food was okay in terms of flavor, but nothing particularly special. However, they did serve a complimentary sourdough bread with butter that was absolutely delicious , we asked for more, and they gladly brought extra. What really stood out was our server, who was amazing. I believe her name was Lisa (a lovely woman in her 40s with striking blue eyes). She was incredibly kind, attentive, and really helped elevate our experience. As for the food: • The buffalo milk drink was excellent, and they offer it in a large size for sharing, which is great for groups. • The burger and steak were underwhelming , I wouldn’t recommend them. • The halibut was tasty and felt like a healthy choice. • The ahi poke was also fresh and enjoyable. Overall, this place offers a nice ocean view, which adds to the experience. It might be a better option for smaller groups to avoid the hassle we went through. Despite the rough start, we’re thankful for our wonderful server, who made the visit worthwhile.

Service was great and front of house was excellent. They sat us inside with our puppy saying the whole restaurant is dog friendly. They even brought him some treats. They brought a booster for my toddler too. Dinner service was a bit rushed but I guess that’s nothing to do with the staff but with the restaurant policy. The food itself was mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry but nothing I’d want to see again. The green beans that came with the cod were raw - so hard to eat. The Sauvignon Blanc I had was bad.

We ordered the halibut and the sea bass during our visit to Catalina. The food was just about average, what you are really paying for is the beautiful ocean view and the calming sound of the waves. The atmosphere is relaxing and perfectly captures the charm of Catalina, but the food itself did not stand out. The plating for both dishes was appealing and well presented. The sea bass was described as sweet, but I found the sweetness to be quite subtle. I would suggest making the cream sauce thicker, since the watery texture made it difficult to enjoy the intended flavor. If a sauce like that is served, including a spoon would help guests taste it properly. The halibut was breaded, but the flavor reminded me of lake water, which did not appeal to me. Overall, the experience was not spectacular for my taste, though the setting on Catalina Island made it worth trying at least once. I still encourage others to visit and form their own opinion.

I really wanted to like this place because of its beautiful location and is designed like the sort of place that I would like to spend time in and frequent often but the fish that I ordered was not fully cooked so I wasn’t able to fully enjoy my meal. As mentioned it’s right on the water on Avalon Bay and the restaurant has been renovated recently and is done really well. You can sit inside or out and it’s great to be able to eat right on the water. Our server was nice although he did not check in on us during our meal but everything that we did order arrived quickly. We ordered Oysters on the Half Shell and Clam Chowder for the table and both were very good. Not the best I’ve had this month but still very enjoyable. For my entrée, I chose the Blackened Swordfish and at first it had some nice flavors but then once I got halfway through, I noticed some pink in the middle and realized that it was cooked about 65% through. I really wanted to finish my meal, but I was not able to due to the under cooking. I don’t think undercooked swordfish is a smart idea. I would give it another try in the future, but hope to not experience what I did tonight, especially for the price point.
