Opinions de Karavan Avenue U
A beautiful restaurant with a truly traditional atmosphere that makes you feel at home the moment you walk in. We tried the QURUTOB AND CHICKEN SHISH , and it was absolutely delicious ,fresh, rich, and full of authentic flavor. You can tell it’s made with care and respect for tradition. Highly recommend for anyone who wants a real cultural dining experience.
The most delicious Central Asian food in NY! Every dish is bursting with authentic flavors and perfectly seasoned. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the service is always great. I keep coming back every time! This place never disappoints!
Amazing experience! The food was very tasty and beautifully presented. The staff was polite and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm and relaxing. One of the best restaurants I’ve visited. Will return for sure!”
After seeing this restaurant on instagram where they were they were trying to eat food from every country within NYC I had to check out it after seeing how amazing the food looked and how friendly the owners were. Beyond blow away, food was incredible and got me trying a lot of new things. Staff was super knowledgeable and friendly, and I’m pretty sure I spoke to the owner who game some fantastic recommendations to get the full experience. Can’t recommend enough, if you’re even remotely close at any point this is one of those places that’s worth it treat like a destination instead of just food on the way!
We came here for my sister’s birthday dinner with my family and absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the space felt very cozy and homey, with a beautiful karaoke/music area and twinkle lights that created such a fun, welcoming vibe. Our waiter, Aynura, was incredibly kind, friendly, and attentive, which made the experience even better. We also had the pleasure of meeting the restaurant owner, who was such a kind and welcoming man. He was very helpful and took the time to answer our questions, especially regarding catering, which we truly appreciated. The food was fresh and delicious across the board. For appetizers, we ordered the fries, crispy eggplant salad, and their signature Karavn salad (my absolute favorite). For entrées, we tried a variety of dishes including several kebabs, plov, lentil soup, and salmon. My dad is very picky when it comes to kebabs, and even he really enjoyed them. My mom and I ordered the salmon, and it was cooked to perfection flavorful, tender, and absolutely delicious. What made the night even more special was that they allowed us to bring our own cake and even sang happy birthday to my sister through the karaoke, which was such a thoughtful and sweet touch. We will definitely be coming back and ordering takeout as well. Highly recommend this place for a great meal, warm service, and a lovely atmosphere.
This place is amazing! Staff is great, ladies are so nice and attentive. Go above and beyond to accommodate. The food is delicious. Will definitely come back to try other dishes on the menu. Thank you!
Love this place, been there so many times. Great food, cozy atmosphere. Good place to spend your time with friends and family! Thank you for your great service!
Short review- Order the qurutob or shashlik. Rating is for those dishes. Would be an upper/mid 3 outside of said two dishes. I went to this spot in Sheepshead Bay, specifically in Homecrest, a couple of weeks ago. They serve the rare Tajik food, similar to that of other Central Asian countries, except for their additional national dish, qurutob. The restaurant was unfortunately out of many dishes as they apparently had a big party on Saturday, but I would still recommend this place at least for most of the dishes we ordered. The main reason to go here is the Qurutob for $21.90, with fatir, sour yogurt, fresh vegetables, herbs, and linseed oil. The only other place to find this dish is Registan in Gravesend, which isn't good (and replaced Vernissage, which was excellent.) Anyway, I'm happy to say that the version here, while not as good as Vernissage, was fantastic. There were plenty of tomatoes and cucumbers, the yogurt and fatir added some sourness and richness, and the fresh jalapenos added heat. There's also a version with meat for an extra $6, which we would have ordered, but it wasn't available. The other main reason to try this place is their excellent kabobs/shashlik. You can either order a Karavan Mix Kabob for four ($69) or eight ($140,) or instead order individual kabobs. We went with the latter because we were ordering many other dishes and chose two sets of three kabobs. The best of the bunch was the Lamb Luleh for $9 each, which had very tender and flavorful ground lamb. The Jigar or Veal Liver Kabob for $14 each was also very tasty. The liver was cooked perfectly, not too rare, still tender, and had only a mild iron flavor. The Karavan Lamb Kabob for $12.90 was more standard but tasty. Compared to other Central Asian spots, I preferred the liver over most others, but found the lulya, for instance, better nearby at Baku Nights. For the salads, our preference was the Karavan for $13.90, with beef, cucumber, pickles, tomato, lemon juice, spices, grated potato fries, salad oil, and white dressing. This reminded me of a lighter version of Tashkent salad with beef instead of tongue, pickles, a lighter dressing, and no grilled onions. It was tasty, and we were tempted to order another later, since many dishes were out. The portion was also large, and I would recommend this. There was also the Sogdiana for the same price with veal tongue, tomato, scallions, and spices. This was a smaller portion, but it tasted heavier as the sauce was, I believe, mostly mayo. There was plenty of sliced tongue and a lot of tomatoes. This was nice, but we preferred the various textures and flavors from the other side. Short description for the rest as I'd be out of room otherwise- Sambusa Pumpkin- $3.50 each, Very tasty Tajik (or Tandyr) Non, for $3.40. Excellent version Fried Tushbera (or Chuchvara/Dushbara) at $10.90. A bit doughy but good enough Qutabi. $3.90 each. Alright (dough is better at other spots) (Turkish Style) Liver Cubes. $11.90. Alright Herring With Potato- $10.90. We didn't like Homestyle Potato With Mushrooms for $13.90. Decent portion but the potatoes weren't well-fried. Just OK. Desserts- Chocolate cake and tiramisu (both $7.50) were decent (likely store bought and fine) A bit inconsistent, but good. Just know what to order.
The food is incredible. It’s like not other. I would definitely recommend this place. If you’re looking for great service delicious food, and wanna leave satisfied then you found your spot. Not to mention the Ambience was impeccable and the people are wonderful. Definitely would go back. It’s a five star restaurant.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely incredible food! Karavan LLC is hands down one of the best hidden gems in Brooklyn. The kebabs are perfectly seasoned, juicy, and cooked to perfection — you can really taste the authenticity and quality in every bite. The flavors are fresh and bold, unlike anything else in the area. The staff is friendly, welcoming, and you can tell they take pride in their food and service. Everything from the kebabs to the sides and sauces is top-notch. You can feel the passion behind every dish. If you’re looking for real, delicious, authentic kebab and Central Asian cuisine, Karavan is the place to go. Highly recommend it for lunch, dinner, or even takeout — you won’t be disappointed!
Wow, what a beautiful place! The moment we walked in, I was amazed by how clean and welcoming it looked. The atmosphere was perfect. warm, inviting, and full of good energy. I went for dinner with family and friends and we had such a great time. The food was absolutely amazing. Every plate came out fresh and full of flavor. We ate, laughed, danced, and even did karaoke! The two servers who took care of us were so nice and attentive, always checking to make sure we had everything we needed. You could tell they actually cared about making sure everyone was happy. Most of all, I felt completely safe and comfortable the whole time. It’s just one of those places where you can relax, have fun, and really enjoy yourself. I can’t wait to go back!
Perfect family restaurant! We came as a family all the way from Long Island to try the Tajik Pamir restaurant at Karavan Kebab — and it was amazing! Everyone loved the food, especially the fresh bread and traditional flavors. The place feels cozy and welcoming, just like home. Great for families who want to enjoy real Tajik cuisine together. Highly recommend!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Karavan Kebab – Authentic Tajik Cuisine! I came all the way from Philadelphia just to try their Qurutob, and it was absolutely worth the trip! The flavors are authentic, the bread is fresh, and the atmosphere feels like home. If you want a real taste of Tajikistan, this is the place to go. Highly recommend Karavan Kebab — 100% worth the drive! 🇹🇯🍽️
Guys If you’re in the mood for some genuine Tajik / Central Asian food, Karavan- Grill -Kebab is absolutely worth checking out. The flavors are the best part, and the value (especially when dining in) is strong. Just know what to expect — things might not always be perfect, but they try hard, and many dishes are quite enjoyable.
Just drove an hour to try the Qurutob here, and it was incredible! I haven't had Tajik food in over 30 years and this brought back so many memories. The place was spotless, the service was fantastic, and the food was delicious. I'll definitely be back! Forget to mention it's super affordable 👍🏼
The restaurant "Karavan" is a real find! It successfully combines traditional Tajik dishes and classic principles of cuisine. The food is fresh, the portions are generous, everything is cooked with soul. The atmosphere of oriental comfort, beautiful interior and always friendly waiters and owners! A place for families and for birthdays!
100% halal food. I have to say the setup is nice of the restaurant. The bread, lamb rack, chicken wings, chicken shish, lamb chops and the Samarkand salad were delicious. The herrings with potatoes was not my favorite. The rice was a bit clumpy. The fries & hummus were outstanding. The staff was nice but slow service and they do have a bar. Their chair seatings or padding’s were not good, kept sinking into the chair. The bathroom was good enough. Def recommend a visit if you’re in the area.
We came here with a recommendation. The service was good, they had live music, the salads were great. We ordered liver Turkish style( we didn't like it) All the shashlik kebab was dry. Overcooked. Liver kebab was the worst. We really wanted to like this place. Maybe we'll give it a chance one more time.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The food they served me appeared to be leftovers from the night before. The meat was clearly old and unappetizing. To make matters worse, half the plate was filled with dirty, blackened oil, seemingly to add weight to the dish. This is completely unacceptable and reflects very poorly on their standards. Absolutely horrendous.
