Che scoperta meravigliosa, che cibo fantastico! Ci siamo divisi un primo (dei plin mantecati con del formaggio) e una meravigliosa tagliata di cervo. Il cervo era sublime. I due dolci uno più buono dell'altro. Il tiramisù scomposto servito nel modo illustrato nella foto è stata una sorpresa divertente ed era buonissimo. L'unica pecca può essere il prezzo del conto leggermente alto seppur giusto per la qualità del cibo e il parcheggio un po' scomodo e piccolo in relazione al numero dei coperti.

Mentre eravamo in vacanza abbiamo mangiato a pranzo in due adulti più bimba. Tutto ottimo, servizio, cibo e atmosfera. Il rapporto qualità-prezzo è corretto. Consigliata la prenotazione!

Dopo una giornata di neve cercavamo una coccola culinaria come quella che ci è stata offerta da questo accogliente ristorante. Siamo stati accompagnati da del personale gentile, disponibile e competente, che non solo si è limitato a servire i piatti, ma si è preoccupato di farceli assaporare esponendone la qualità, che si è sentita ad ogni morso. Consigliamo il posto se si cercano prodotti locali utilizzati in ricette rivisitate dallo chef in un ambiente accogliente e caldo.

Abbiamo provato questo locale invogliati dalle numerosissime recensioni positive. La prenotazione avvenuta tramite messaggi whatsapp è stata comoda veloce ed efficace, ci hanno accolti al locale come se fossimo degli ospiti di casa e con fare molto casereccio ma allo stesso tempo professionale ci hanno fatto accomodare portandoci il menu della casa. Io ho preso la fonduta come antipasto e il risotto alla grappa e mirtilli come primo. La fonduta è stata emozionante, non trovo parola che possa descriverla meglio, veramente ottima! Il risotto molto saporito, innovativo e anche quello perfetto in ogni sua componente, equilibratissimo! Mentre gustavamo i primi vediamo arrivare agli altri tavoli i dolci… e non potevamo non prenderli… io ho preso il tiramisù scomposto, la presentazione del piatto è stata una cosa veramente sbalorditiva è mai vista, anche quello veramente ottimo! Arrivati in cassa estasiati per la cena al momento del pagamento ci viene chiesto se alloggiavamo in qualche struttura nei dintorni e abbiamo avuto anche un buono sconto sul totale. Anche quindi come prezzi (lasciando stare lo sconto) sono veramente ottimo per quello che si mangia! Consiglio vivamente a tutti di provarlo. Noi se capiterà di ripassare da quelle parti torneremo sicuramente! Ancora complimenti!!

Questa è una delle rare occasioni in cui 5 stelle sembrano davvero insufficienti. La cucina di questo locale è semplicemente eccezionale: ottimi i piatti a base di funghi, tagliata di cervo superlativa. Se siete in zona e non mangiate qui, avrete perso un'occasione unica

Molto sorpresi da questo posto trovato a caso nei dintorni dei castelli più belli di Aosta, primi molto molto buoni, dolci particolari e gustosi! Con sorpresa ci hanno accolto con un benvenuto dello chef molto saporito ed un pre-dessert composto da un sorbetto salvia e limone Conto nella media, ambiente caldo in stile tipico!

Ottimo tutto. Siamo tornati dopo un anno perché avevamo un gustoso ricordo e non siamo rimasti delusi. La bella giornata ha permesso di poter pranzare sulla terrazza coperta, la vista sulla valle appagava gli occhi. Un piacevole assaggio omaggiato dal cuoco, porcini fritti freschi con salsa Aoli', gnocchetti all ortica e fontina, plin alle nocciole formaggiosi, polpetta (mix squisito) su polenta e fonduta. Sorbetto mignon al porto offerto dalla casa. Torte... Eccellenti e abbondanti. Sentivo altri commensali complimentarsi per la trota. Il personale super gentile e sorridente. Complimenti a tutti.. Una cena meravigliosa in un ristorante dall'atmosfera natalizia. Forse i prezzi sono un po' alti rispetto alla media, ma sicuramente la qualità dei prodotti è più che apprezzabile. Dall'antipasto al dolce siamo rimasti colpiti dai sapori e profumi di ogni singolo piatto. È stato un viaggio culinario graditissimo e il personale simpatico e cordiale ha reso il tutto un'esperienza che consiglio vivamente a tutti.

Un ristorante stupendo tutto bellissimo nel minimo dettaglio. Lo staff gentilissimo. Cameriera simpaticissima! Il cibo qualcosa di sublime dagli antipasti ai primi e secondi. La tagliata d cervo mi ha lasciata senza parola dalla bontà. Si scioglieva in bocca! Dolce buonissimo! Impiattamento 10. Vino eccellente! Tutto eccezionale lo stra consiglio!

Come si fa a riassumere un locale come l'Old Grizzly? Semplicemente sorprendente! Scelto principalmente per la vicinanza al Castello di Aymavilles (circa 600 metri) e per le belle recensioni, mi sono fermata pensando che avrei mangiato dei buoni piatti, ma senza particolari aspettative. La proposta invece era molto più particolare e sfiziosa di quanto immaginassi, è davvero difficile scegliere cosa assaggiare, ma alla fine ho optato per dei porcini fritti con salsa aioli (fritti benissimo, e la salsa era un ottimo accompagnamento) e mirtuccine con fonduta e frutti di bosco (meravigliose, un perfetto connubio di morbidezza del formaggio e acidità dei frutti di bosco). Particolare nota di merito per il dolce. Non credo di aver mai impiegato tanto tempo per decidere cosa ordinare, tutte le proposte sembravano ottime, ma alla fine ho scelto il tiramisù scomposto: è uno dei miei dolci preferiti, ma non lo ordino mai perché rimango puntualmente delusa, e men che meno mi azzardo quando leggo "scomposto" (di solito preludio di tragedie della pasticceria), ma mi sono lasciata convincere dall'ottimo livello dei piatti precedenti. Era eccezionale, presentazione bella ed elegante, caffè ottimo, savoiardi spettacolari e crema corposa, ricca ma delicata, assolutamente perfetta. Altra nota positiva: vengono serviti un amuse-bouche prima di iniziare (purtroppo non l'ho potuto assaggiare ma aveva un bell'aspetto) e un piccolo pre-dessert (sorbetto di mandarino e vodka, buonissimo e perfetto per pulire il palato, soprattutto dopo cibi abbastanza grassi), davvero una piacevole sorpresa. Staff gentile e attento, ambiente molto particolare, curato e divertente, prezzo assolutamente adeguato alla qualità del pasto. Peccato solo abitare troppo lontano per tornarci spesso!

Do not be fooled by the tourist-trap sounding name, this is one of the best restaurants we have been to in Val D'Aosta. Super efficient service, excellent food and parking available. Prices are somewhat elevated but the quality of the service and food has nothing to envy any other establishment.

A few years back I started gaining interest in culinary cooking and food despite my history of being a difficult and picky eater, as well as being autistic and having trouble with textures. Which means I am the person in our family dedicated to seeking out restaurants to eat at. Mostly because I am able to find restaurants that meet all of our tastes and difficulties. The Old Grizzly was the first restaurant we tried on our two week vacation here after I meticulously researched every restaurant in our area. To start off we unfortunately do not speak Italian, but to our luck the staff were well versed in English! And the menu for the appetizers and main courses were also available in English! Any item that wasn't we simply typed out in google translate. (The wonders of modern technology) The atmosphere was lovely. It was quite cozy and not too big, which for us was a plus. And the view of the mountains certainly were a sight to see. I personally skipped the appetizers, but I was able to sample a taste from my mother who ordered the carpaccio. It was unlike any other carpaccio I've ever tasted. Soft and flavorful are not enough to describe it. I loved it. My main course was the venison. And like the carpaccio it was so soft and melted in my mouth. The meat was accompanied with a blueberry compote. I have never tasted something like it before. Not quite sweet, and a hint of smoke. I can only describe it as a must try. And it paired very well with the venison. I ended with the tortino cioccolato, which was a perfectly baked chocolate lava cake, accompanied by fresh fruits and the most creamy and delicious straciatella ice cream! I took one bite and I swear I was in heaven! All in all our experience was lovely and I can not express how happy I am to have tried it! The food was made it with utmost care and love, which you could taste in every bite!

La veranda è molto bella, curata e con un bel panorama, il cibo è davvero ottimo e le porzioni giuste. Considerando il tutto mi aspettavo un conto più alto. Servizio ottimo. Degustazione di formaggi buona, ci vorrebbe solo un po’ più di marmellata di cipolle🧅 . Abbiamo mangiato due primi particolari: Polenta con polpetta di carne con cuore di formaggio fuso…a parere mio un po’ secca e purtroppo ho beccato un micro ossicino (ma può capitare); Tagliolini con salsiccia e miele. Dolce buonissimo: tiramisù scomposto!!

Una piacevole scoperta tra natura e sapori autentici La posizione di questo ristorante è semplicemente incantevole, immerso nella natura con un paesaggio da cartolina che da solo vale la visita. Il menù non ha deluso: ho iniziato con dei funghi porcini fritti come antipasto, buoni e croccanti, per poi passare a una Chateaubriand davvero deliziosa – la consiglio vivamente a chiunque ami la carne ben cucinata e tenerissima. Il tutto accompagnato da un ottimo vino rosso, perfetto per esaltare i sapori. Il servizio è stato molto curato: lo chef ha voluto omaggiarci con un piccolo assaggio prima dell'antipasto, come gesto di benvenuto, e successivamente ci è stato offerto un sorbetto rinfrescante prima del dolce. Per concludere in dolcezza, ho scelto un tortino dal cuore caldo accompagnato da gelato alla vaniglia...purtroppo poco, forse stava finendo🥲... ma semplicemente squisito. Unica piccola nota negativa: alcune mosche fastidiose durante il pasto, ma comprensibile data la location immersa nel verde. In definitiva, una bella scoperta che consiglio a chi cerca buona cucina in un contesto rilassante e naturale.

Una piacevole scoperta per chi cerca un’atmosfera accogliente e autentica. Il locale, curato e rustico, offre una splendida vista sul paesino di Aymavilles che da sola vale la sosta. La cucina è quella tipica della Valle d’Aosta, con piatti tradizionali eseguiti con attenzione e una presentazione curata, che valorizza le materie prime locali. Unica nota stonata, gli inserti floreali decorativi sui piatti: rimandano a uno stile anni ’90 ormai superato, e che rischia di distogliere l’attenzione dalla bontà delle portate. Nel complesso, un’esperienza gastronomica piacevole in un contesto suggestivo. Consigliato a chi ama la cucina valdostana, con un tocco di raffinatezza.

Siamo stati due volte a distanza di un anno. Personale molto accogliente e preparato. Cibi ottimi con ingredienti locali, con una presentazione curata nei dettagli. Particolare menzione agli gnocchi ed al capriolo. Dolci ottimi. Posteggio un po’ ridotto ma con un po’ di pazienza si riescono a gestire (soprattutto grazie al personale) le eventuali “doppie file”.

The staff who works there are really kind. They accommodated our very large group of 15 and made the table very cute for us as we were celebrating a birthday. The whole atmosphere was very country and cosy. The menu had a lot of choices but the best dish was definitely the venison with blueberries. It was perfectly cooked! The Bolognese was okay, kind of underwhelming compared to the venison filet. I enjoyed the carpaccio, but the escargot was drenched in butter which is normally good but the size was so large so it wasn't my favorite. The ratatouille was seasoned well and nice additions of fresh vegetables. The chocolate cake they prepared was delicious and the wine offerings superb. Overall great experience, would be happy to come back!

Eatery with ambitions that are not matched by what and how the food is served. I'm always deeply concerned when ordering my filet steak blue and receiving it well done and when the waiter just shrugs his shoulders making me feel I should just get over it. Sprinkling flowers over the dish does not hide the sloppy way the food is dressed on the plate. Overall a clear deception and room for improvement.

Mediocre food at prestige prices. Bought the Chateaubriand for 2 people.. menu said 28E/person.. was charged 30/person on checkout and it was a piece of meat that was de-frosted not fresh .. all the blood poured out of it after it was cooked. Not totally bad but mediocre at best and not worth the price we paid. Will not go again.

My partner and I paid a visit to Castello di Aymavilles on the 17th of June 2023. We left the venue after 6.30 pm and walked a few hundred metres to the Old Grizzly to have a drink to quench the heat of the summer, and to decide on dinner thereafter. We were met by a waitress at the entrance. My partner asked if we could order a drink. The waitress told us the establishment is a restaurant and not a bar, and so refused to serve us. I asked again if we could just order a coffee first, and again the waitress reiterated that the establishment is a restaurant and not a bar, and turned us away. The restaurant was not full at that time (it was at 7pm thereabout) for I only saw a table of 6 in the outdoor sitting. I just wonder why the waitress could not just accommodate us, let us have our coffee and open up the opportunity for us to stay for dinner. Seriously, does a coffee take up a lot of time when the restaurant was not yet full? True, we had at that time not decided on what to eat, but we could easily had dined at the Old Grizzly. If the night was fully booked, the waitress could kindly let us know, and we would be on our way. To turn away customers abruptly, in my humble opinion, is a cardinal sin in the food and beverage industry. Perhaps it is the culture, or it could be some unbending rule that does not make sense. In reply to the owner of this establishment. If I can read Italian, I am sure I will observe your rules. Again, your "rule" is silly, but that is you of course. To further add to your blatant lie, why was there a table of 6 already seated before 7 pm when your "rules" stated service starts at 7.15 pm? What a laugh. This is in response to your claim that the six seated were your staff members having their meal before the dinner service. My memory serves me very clearly that two of the women at the table were wearing bright colored dresses, attire that is more in line with going out for a dinner at a reputable establishment than serving at one. The two of your waitresses I saw, one who turned us away at the entrance into the establishment, and the other who was serving the table of six, wore long black pants and both had similar tops. I am hard-pressed to believe that the six seated at the table were staff of the restaurant. Perhaps you can explain to me if it is customary for your staff to be drinking bottles of wine before dinner service? PSS: My memory is clear, though you may have trouble with yours. Sure, you can do whatever you wish at your own establishment, but I had caught you lying. You obviously have no shame in defending your lies, so I will simply take it that you too arrogant to humble yourself and take criticism. Your timetable is in Italian, and you clearly feel that everyone should be able to read Italian. Either make a bigger timetable which non-italian speakers can read, or train your staff what customer service is all about, and then you can start running your mouth off here. Pathetic. PSSS : There is no exaggeration on my part. I merely pointed out the irrefutable truth. Your lies are still lies, two years ago, today or ten years from now. As long as you propagate your untruths, I will call you out. Yes, liars like you will remain in my thoughts as long as you wish, if that pleases you. You not replying? I am not holding my breath. PSSSS : You lied. You said previously you had your last word, but here you are, whining again. There is no invention on my part for all that I have related is the truth, God is my witness. When did I mention that I arrived at closing time? Obviously, you have not learned to read. I accept facts, but do not expect me to accept your lies.
