We have been going to this restaurant since my youngest was a newborn. My baby girl is all grown up and has a daughter of her own and takes her here too! Staff tends to stay here for years, my favorite (who always laughed when I asked for extra "secret sauce" on my burger) was killed in a car accident and they closed the place down for everyone to go to her funeral. What a family. And the food is the best home cooked food in town too lol!

Last time I ate there was for breakfast, went home and got sick. 24hrs later I was fine. Ordered the ground steak and eggs. It had a lot of half cooked onions and a very quick cooked over medium, very runny. I did not complain, which I should have. I was hungry. Every time i've eaten there before was good.

The waitresses are so sweet and attentive. Big food portions and great flavor. My brother loves the chicken fried steak and I the the sizzling border plate.

Was seated right away. The food was delicious. There is some road construction right now (April 2022) so be advised that you will have to drive over a ruff patch to enter the parking lot.

Stayed the night in Bakersfield, checked for a good place to eat. We hit the jackpot. The waitress was super. The food was back home delicious. I tried the fried green beans, thinking pan fried. But these were dipped in coating and deep fried. They were over the top delicious. And, the price was a bargain for all the food we got.Could not eat it all.

I love this restaurant. Everyone is so friendly and service is great. I was with a group of 8 for a lunch and the food was delicious and there was never an empty glass. This time i had the French Dip and really liked it. The only thing not eatten were the chicken strips. The were over fried and to hard to eat.

The food was great and the waitress was very nice and took the time to stop and talk to us while waiting for our food. We told her we were going to a wedding and she was so excited for us and thanked us for coming in and good luck on the wedding. She seemed very interested in us and took very good care of us.

Great family owned restaurant. Home style meals. Love the new fried chicken. Great iced tea and you can get an iced tea (or soda) to go at the end of your meal.... just ask. Love breakfast anytime of the day. And we really like the new fried green beans for an appetizer!

The waiters were very sweet, and courtious,. The wait time to be served our food was one of the fastest I've had in a while. With frequent, though not as frequent as to be intrusive checks on us to see if everything was alright and should we need anything? The food was awesome , and just right!

My Family and I love coming to your restaurant first because our daughters went to school with the owners grand daughters and they're friends, second the food is tasty hot, service is good, we only experience one bad server. She was Not friendly and she served us with prejudice. We didn't report it because we trust God will deal with her. We believe when God deal with ugly like that what we as human try to do would be nothing compare to God's wrath. But, her actions did not reflect on the restaurant it self and the rest of the staff. We once were greeted by the grandson and he went beyond amazing to serve our family. God bless your business and your workers. We recommend your place to a lot of family and friends.

What can I say about this place other then, it's become our favorite go to place for breakfast my husband and I get the Swedish strawberry 🍓 creeps combos.... I get all sausages links, eggs 🥚 over medium and country potatoes 🥔 😋 I ask Yasmin for the whippecrean and strawberry glaze on the side so my creeps don't get soggy....she is our waitress she does not disappoint she always goes above and beyond for her guest, she is always happy I know she cares about her guest I would give 100 stars 🌟 if I could ✨️ so if you are ever in town or passing by and need a place to stop by for breakfast come to Spencer's and grab a bit to eat... no reservations needed they open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 2:00 p.m.

Stopped in Bakersfield for late breakfast while beginning our road trip. Wife had the breakfast enchilada, regular menu. I had the Senior menu chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and gravy, also cup of vegetable soup. Yummy, yummy in the tummy!

If you are searching for a restaurant that will make you feel like you are eating at a down-home, gentile, quaint restaurant with friendly staff and breakfast food in fairly large proportions to fill up even your hungriest morning, then Spencer's is the place to go. The clientele tends to be those of us who have AARP membership cards, but it's bc we know all the good food spots that do not cost a week's wage to enjoy! 😂 It may not be 5 star worthy, but it definitely beats most other restaurants around town when it comes to breakfast.

We usually split a meal because the portions are HUGE! We have been to other establishments for breakfast. Its not the same, we end up back at Spencers.

This place was packed at 10am on a random Friday morning but the wait was short, the staff were kind and efficient, and the food was hot and delicious! I think this place has the thickest, fluffiest biscuits in the entire county and they are served with a whole bowl of gravy too! You can't beat the prices either. I will definitely be back very soon!

Yasim was my server, and she was fantastic! I ordered the country fried steak with over easy eggs. Delicious and would highly recommend, the chicken fried steak was tender and flavorful, the hash browns were crispy and fresh, eggs perfectly prepared and the biscuit and gravy were the best. Enough food for 2 people.

I came in early for breakfast with my son today 6-8-21. It wasn’t very busy and the cashier said we could sit anywhere we wanted. My son ordered the lumberjack breakfast. It is huge. It is: scrambled 3 eggs, big slab of ham, 2 pieces of sausage and bacon, large amount of hash browns and 2 very large pancakes. He loved it, but couldn’t eat it all. I ordered hamburger patty with onions and salsa, 3 eggs, hash browns and biscuits and gravy. Very big meal, I couldn’t eat it all, but boy was it good. Excellent breakfast here. Spencer’s is definitely in the top ten list of great breakfast stops in Bakersfield.

I am the owner of 4TH Demention Construction And a local guide This place is very consistent. From years ago when I visited Spencer's in the past it is still a wonderful place to eat. They serve breakfast all day. The service is on point. And the meals are fresh with a touch of home style servings. Very clean. License Service animal friendly. Let me tell you about there vegetable soup oh my to die for!! I kept going back for more and even orders one to go! Yes that good 😊👍. Tri tip, deep pit, and more this place has it all. We arrived in mid afternoon on a Sunday. We were seated immediately and taken care of in a timely manner with everything. Menu has a large variety of items and everything was good, we had no complaints. Business offers free WiFi however the waitress even said it often doesn't work. We will definitely return for future visits.

We stopped here for breakfast for the 1st time before our day shopping in Bakersfield and it was amazing. Huge 3 egg Mexicali omelette with biscuits and gravy. Compared to Denny's.... way better taste, more food and cheaper. We left very full. Very friendly staff and great atomsphere. Next going to try their bbq which is I think only Fri or weekends. Either differently worth the stop by your self or the family.

Good service. Food is consistently good. One small suggestion. A pile of lettuce and croutons does not, necessarily, a salad make. Perhaps you could add tomatoes, onions, cheese and that would be more of a complete salad.

Food & soups good. Servers nice & usually tentive. BUT bring your overcoat because it’s usually freezing in this place. AC is ice cold & all 5 fans usually on. They won’t change the AC temp but at least they’ll turn off fans that are near you. Janet B.

This place is great diner type food but more of a comfy vibe. I love that the owner is local and that the food does not taste pre-fabricated. It tastes like your grandma just whipped it up in her kitchen. I highly recommend the Monte Cristo.

Went on mother's day, got seated within 10 minutes. Food was pretty good and the portions were huge. Hadn't been there in years and will definitely be going back soon.

Great Diner. Brooklyn my waitress. She was the loudest and most obnoxious in a good way. Added to another meal by myself long ways away from home. She'll bring a smile to your meal. The catfish baked potato and salad were great. The cheese toast was probably good but cold and that was a good excuse for me to avoid a few more carbs. You can tell it's a good dinner when they have punched larger holes in the pepper shaker so you can get out what's required. I'll be back next time I'm in Bakersfield. Oh the apple cobbler is worth a try.

The food here is absolutely delicious & routinely consistent with very decent prices. Try the Chile Verde or biscuits and gravy...delicious! Plus the restaurant is clean with a homey feel! I will definitely return to this location.

I ordered a sample platter and a waffle. Everything was delicious, although the waffle was not crispy, it had amazing flavor! Under the table was dirty and had food from the previous customer, but the servers are super nice and we got our food quickly and it was hot and fresh.

I had the Turkey Supreme sandwich. It was really good. My favorite is still the omelets. It wasn't overly crowded or busy great for a Wednesday evening in Bakersfield. The waitress was really good and she was super sweet. She didn't overly ask us if everything was okay but was there for our couple requests. Definitely would recommend.

Everything here is delicious, service is amazing. it is easy to access from Rosedale highway, and you can always grab something to eat no matter what time of day. They have everything from American to Mexican to Italian and that is part of the reason that I give them four stars. One of the reasons that they lost a star is because the waitress that we had recently and quite frequently has become less attentive. I will update my review of this changes but for now it has not.

It's an older restaurant but the selection on the menu has something for everyone. The portions are massive and for the price you can't go wrong. The staff is friendly and take good care of anything you need. The waitresses are very perky and friendly. It is a very family oriented restaurant. I highly recommend Spencer's. It's not the fanciest restaurant but they make you feel at home.

Service was great, the staff here works hard on making sure your eating experience is enjoyable. Fast with the requests of hot sauce, napkins, water and refills. They have this salad called a Texas salad it's pack with meat and onion ring over some nice green crisp lettuces and other veggie very very delicious

This is the typical old fashioned family restaurant with huge helping of not so much healthy foods. It caters to a large seniors crowd. There's only a couple of menu items I can eat as I must have gluten free foods. They don't mark any offers as gluten free, but I've never had a problem with those few things I always order.

Huge selection of your run of the mill diner food. Short order cooks do a good job during a rush. Its not that difficult to slather gravy on everything anyway. The wait staff are friendly and quick. The atmosphere is one of a truck stop. The building is getting old. Your typical greasy spoon.

It was a disappointing experience. I have really liked Spencer's food and service in the past. That being said, I think that they were unprepared for how busy it was that Sunday, November 5th. We came in at 9 am with a party of 7, expecting a wait with our larger number. The waiting room was already full, and I was surprised when the hostess told us that it would only be a 20 min wait. We waited the 20, then checked in. A new server then told us that it would be another 20 min. It's frustrating, but at that point, we would be waiting that long anywhere we went, so we stayed. They seated almost everyone and new walk-ins quickly while we were waiting. I can see empty booths, and we are the only party waiting at this point. When I check in, they tell me that we have to wait for the large tables to open up, and they don't know how long it will be. Yes, I'm officially upset. I would never yell or be rude to anyone in customer service, I wanted to, but I didn't! I wasn't happy. One of the servers sees that we are upset. She offers to open the divider for 2 booths, and we're finally seated. She serves us and does a great job. She saved us Had they informed us of the long wait in the beginning, we could have gone elsewhere, or they could have offered to open the booths...... Like they did.

It's okay. Breakfast is decent but on my last visit there with my family they were understaffed and the waitress kept messing up our orders. I had a steak dinner there and it was really disappointing. I didn't finish it. My kids had a cheeseburger and fish and chips and they liked it. My husband had the chicken fried chicken, which he said was good. I think I'll stick to breakfast or a burger next time.

Food was ok, the waitress we had was very nice and helpful. There were two waitresses at the register we're obviously very irritated at each other. And barely held words back, in front of an elderly couple, a older gentleman, my two children and myself! Also, the restrooms we're absolutely discussing! The whole place needs a renovation! But it's a well liked place, lots of business! The place needs help!

Homestyle family diner with typical offerings. Especially crowded for weekend breakfasts and dinner most nights. Our visit on an unusually non-busy Saturday night the service was surprisingly slow. Waitress was very friendly and there was plenty of staff on hand to take care of the few tables they just seemed to take their time waiting on everyone. Not expensive but not a particularly economical meal but the food is ok.

If you enjoy half of your breakfast borderline cooked and mushy while the other half is burnt to a crisp then this is the place for you.. But wait there’s more: The water tastes like it’s hauled in straight from Flint Michigan and their crépes are rolled up soggy pancakes. With their current B rating, my brother adds: „It tastes exactly like how you’d expect a B rated restaurant to.“ We went here because the IHop up the street was packed.. I wish I would’ve waited.

Got there right at 2:00 Saturday the 17th. Asked the blonde at the register if we were to late for a table. Brown haired girl at the cooks window heard me and said "yes no more"...girl at register, embarrassed, said yes we can seat you. Girl at cooks window yelled again, " no, no more." We did eat, but felt very uncomfortable. Even our waited wanted to know if I wanted a to go container for my soup while I was adding crackers to it. Geeze....

DO NOT go to Spencer's on Rosedale for lunch.. The place was filthy at 1:30 in the afternoon, more tables had dirty dishes than tables that were ready for someone to sit down. 7 employees I think and the place was filthy. The manager was talking loudly with a customer and was complaining that her restaurant doesn't get the things the other Spencer's on McNair gets. New decor and the things she was complaining about won't make the service and the food any better at the Rosedale location. The Tri-tip sandwich was horrible, the potato salad was drier than a 90 year old woman's heels and the Chinese Chicken Salad was terrible. Should probably just close this location.

Place is dirty. Went into the restroom to wash my hands and had to hold my breath. Just foul. I ordered a sandwich, fries and lemonade.Sandwich was actually pretty good but the fries were just too salty, my drink was good too. They need new cups. You can tell those have been around. Service took a while too. The waitress seemed to be friendly but when I wanted to ask for take out plates she completely shut me down. I guess because she was so busy. But It felt just awful. I don't plan on visiting this place again anytime soon. But then again I am pretty picky about the places I go eat. I'm sure others had a much better experience.

I received very poor service. I am Desert Storm Veteran and believe I deserve equal service when I am a customer at a restaurant. The waitress served and attended all tables around my table, but neglected to provide service to my table. She did not even bother to bring the check for the meal. She did however come to the cashier to make sure the bill was being paid. Food was adequate.

It was my first visit and maybe the last. I was craving a steak well done, but unfortunately became over medium the server said she asked well done so she took it back to get cooked some more while I was eating just hash browns and eggs. Won't be coming back here. My husband and I came for lunch during the weekday. There wasn't very many people in the but they took forever to take our order. The waitress was rude when we asked if the boneless wings were hot, say "what you want me to go get the bottle so you can taste it?". He ordered the avocado chicken sandwich and I ordered the meatloaf sandwich. The chicken sandwich had one strip of chicken (with the center of the chicken missing), mostly bread and my meatloaf sandwich was open-faced and not good at all. Ridiculous

The absolute WORSE customer service I have encountered. This review is soley regarding the Spencer's staff at the Rosedale location and if possible they would recieve a zero star review. I have eaten here a couple times and have always enjoyed the food. However, the staff is very unprofessional and almost child like in their demeanor. My most recent encounter with the staff occurred Monday 3/15/21 in which an order was placed around 6:15pm and then canceled somehow at the restaurant. When attempting to call the store, I was placed on a 18minute hold then was hung up by a staff member. After multiple attempts to call back I finally reached an employee who stated that their internet was down so thats why my order was canceled. The call was ended again as I was taking my companies order and when calling back for the 5th for 6th time an employee picked up the line (without speaking) and placed the phone down while I was on the line. I stayed on the line for 10mins all the while listening to the staff talk about customers (one customer being a nurse as one employee stated to another) and other orders that were placed. Never during this entire time did an employee talk to me on the phone. Even after my repeated attempts to loudly get their attention. After close to 15mins I ended the call and attempted to call them back 7 more times. However the line was always a busy tone (probably due to the phone still being on the counter). By 7:40pm I gave up entirely on trying to reach back out to them. Spencers please take note, you are a good restaurant but your staffing needs serious improvement. The fact that you force customers to go through this much hassle is absolutely ridiculous and reflects poorly not only on the company name but the owner. Needless to say I was forced to go another route for my choice of dinner that night and most likely will think twice about trying to place another to go order again.

I was treated horribly from the second I walked in the door! I should have turned right around and walked right back out! I'm not sure I have ever had a worse experience at any restaurant than this one! Our waitress treated us badly from the second we walked in so bad that I asked to speak to a manager and who should come over but the waitress was the manager! We had horrible service and the food was horrible as well! For a family restaurant they really don't want you in there if you have babies! They made that very clear the second we entered the door!!! I'm so angry I can't even think!!! I will not on never go back but I will be telling everyone I can about my horrible experience! I wish you could give negative stars!

This has to be the worst place that I have ever been for breakfast food. My wife and I were not impressed at all. Pancakes were horrible. If I didn't love pancakes, these would have ruined me. Cook needs to taste food before sending it out and perfecting the receipes.

I love to come here because they have some good food here but I don’t know what’s up with the service they don’t greet us and they don’t even give us there special menu and why is that is it because we’re Mexican??? I mean the whole place is filled with people that are not from my country but come on at least treat us like how you treat all your other people!!! I hope the people read and change their mind for us Mexicans like it’s not fair too go in and try to get something special from their special menu and they don’t even give us the menu!!! I hope they change their attitude between all the races that go there and treat us all the same

Never coming back here. Vegetable Soup too spicy and too much bell pepper, celery and onions. The flour coating was horrible and the wrong onions were used. Ruined the whole dish. Couldn't eat the potato salad as it's 90% onions and celery. Won't be coming back.

I used to love this place, but I can't say that anymore. Ordered new york steak and eggs, with potatoes and bell peppers, emphasizing allergy to onions when ordering, and an omelet with tritip breakfast. Steak was over cooked and so tough I couldn't chew it, potatoes had onions that they tried to pick out or something because they missed a bunch. When I wanted to trade for hashbrowns, I could hear the cook yelling and cursing, my wife's omelet tasted like yesterday's meat, the hashbrowns tasted like they are cooked in large quantities and reheated in old grease. Our waitress was nice, but we won't be back. I only gave 3 stars for service due to another female that took my potatoes back was not customer service friendly, our waitress was great.

We were here yesterday and we’ve given Spencer several chances, about six to seven times total between dining in and picking up food, but unfortunately the service has consistently fallen short. Out of all these visits, only once did we have a positive service experience. During our visits, we’re usually seated, the server takes our order, brings out the food, and then we’re completely ignored. The server never comes back, and no one checks in. Toward the end of the meal, we end up having to flag down a different server, usually someone just walking by, if we need a coffee refill, a to-go box, or even just the check. We can never seem to find our original server again. This has happened too many times to feel like a one-time oversight. What’s especially discouraging is that the staff seems to give noticeably better attention to guests they appear to recognize, which makes it hard for new or occasional customers like us to feel welcome, valued, or encouraged to return. The food is pretty good, though slightly overpriced, but good food can only go so far when the service feels inconsistent and inattentive. It’s disappointing. We love going to breakfast spots, and this one is really close to home, but after repeatedly being overlooked and ignored, we just don’t feel like coming back due to the service.

It took 47 minutes to take us in when there was only one group of people in front of us, and then of course it got busy and everyone went in before us.. when they finally took us in they said they didn’t have enough seating for 5 when they were more than 3 tables big enough for more than 5 people but of course dirty.. then it took another 14 minutes to get some drinks and 7 more minutes for the waitress to take our order. No refills on our coffee until we got our food 23 minutes later.. I love this place, but the service is horrible.
