Went for happy hour apps and drinks. Elevated atmosphere in a posh setting. There was no one else there when we arrived at five p m but it's steadily filled up as time went on. The bar area is quite large, however, so it's never crowded. Two bartenders kept the drinks and the good times moving. First thing we noticed was that the menu had been changed from what is posted on their website, but no worries, they were still able to make drinks off the old list that I was looking forward to, and for happy hour prices! We started off with a shrimp cocktail, which featured 3 very jumbo shrimp, well seasoned and accompanied by a perfectly horseradish-y cocktail sauce (see photo). We then had the calamari, which were lightly breaded in a teriyaki style and serve with a teriyaki dipping sauce rather than the usual marinara. There were fabulously delicious, and had a few slices of red and green jalapenos mixed in the breading as well. The parmesan truffle fries were served with a black garlic aoli that complimented their flavor perfectly. Ketchup was available on request, if you must. We enjoyed 2 cocktails each and split these three appetizers and left very satisfied and happy, and their happy hour prices are very reasonable. We'll definitely become regulars here!
We had a top notch dinner here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Food was delicious, our booth was comfortable and our server Michael was personable and knowledgeable about the menu and the preparation of the dishes. A great choice!
I celebrated my birthday at The Oceanaire and had an amazing experience! The food was delicious, I got the Surf & Turf with filet mignon and lobster tail, plus a side of lobster mac and cheese. For dessert I had the baked Alaska. Our waiter was patient, professional, and friendly. The staff made my night extra special with a personalized birthday menu, a signed card from the team, and even a complimentary appetizer card for my next visit. I’ll definitely be back!
My wife and I was referred to this restaurant from a family member who we were visiting. Coming from Chicago we appreciate excellent restaurants. OCEANNAIRE restaurant was excellent with great food and Quality service. Our server Onyx exuded positive energy which was truly infectious. We meet Chef Marcus who gave us his insight on the dishes we selected. General Manager Vic welcome us and we enjoyed his greeting and well wishes. Our overall experience and dishes like the Mediterranean Branzino and Red Grouper was enjoyable and I strongly recommend THE Key Lime Pie! Please check out this restaurant if you're in the Baltimore area. GO RAVENS!
I found this restaurant through Open Table while visiting Baltimore. At the time, over 4000 ratings averaging 5/5 stars. It doesn't disappoint. Great bar menu with interesting cocktails, plenty of seafood and other appetizers, and varied main menu. For the month I went, they had several two course prefixe choices. I had the lobster bisque and wagyu short ribs with scallops. The meat was fork tender, and the scallops were perfectly seared and everything had great flavors. They have something for every seafood lover, from plain Dover Sole to chicken fried lobster, and of course it's Baltimore so there's crab cakes as well. Prices were reasonable for a city. I went early so it was slower, but all staff was very attentive to everyone and offered helpful menu suggestions and recommendations.
We were greeted instantly. Taken to a table that made us feel comfortable and relaxed. We started with an assortment of oysters and two different types of espresso martinis that we equally delicious. Followed by what might be the best grilled octopus we’ve ever had. My halibut was perfect. My wife did not enjoy the coho salmon. We enjoyed a few different wines with our entrees as well. Our night was made special by the service provided by Adam.
This place was 10/10 they hit all the nails on the head. Location atmosphere clean bathrooms. The waiters all great the timing of the food refills the attentiveness it was well done. A true fine dining five star experience. I never went because I thought it was all shellfish and things I wouldn’t be able to eat but I was shocked. I wished I could have eaten the Mac cheese but they boil the noodles in shellfish water since it’s lobster based. So I hope to see that change. Everything was good and they give sharing portion size so no need to order many side items of same thing. And the key lime was so good.
I can say so many things about this place. I’ve been here many times. My husband and I actually had our first date here and decided to have a private dinner party with our family to celebrate at this wonderful place. The service, food, drinks and atmosphere is everythinggg!! Compliments to the chef, Rayven, Vickey, JP, Michael, Ricky and Bonnie. They all made sure that we all were well taken care of. We appreciate you all and we will be back 💜
Beautiful, upscale and delicious seafood restaurant in the Inner Harbor, but pricey. The service was excellent, our server knew the menu extremely well and helped one of our party who has shellfish allergies to pick a good entree. The food was excellent, and they even were willing to make mocktails. It was rather pricey, however, as few if any entrees were under $30. Will definitely be back the next time I’m in town!
Good wine, appetizers, salads, entrees - all delicious! Service is quite good. Seafood, steaks, sides, desserts - so many options so there's something for everyone. Most things can be customized. Menu changes periodically based on some seasonal availability. Although reservations probably aren't necessary, I recommend them just in case there are larger parties or they're busy that evening.
Everything was superb. My son surprised me and drove from Atlanta to take me out for Mothers Day Dinner. Stephanie was most helpful with her suggestions. We will absolutely be back❤️❤️❤️
Came here for restaurant week with my bestie, and had an amazing time. Beautiful atmosphere, comfortable seating & lighting, the service was refreshingly professional. The manager was personable and greeted our table, our waiter was attentive, and the hostess was very courteous. I Will definitely be back soon for those crab cakes and key lime pie. Great job!

I loved the food so much the place looks new and so clean and the service are perfect and the working staff will take care of you with a big smile
This restaurant has really spectacular seafood. What I love most are the sides. They offer these large portion sides that are shareable for the whole table so it’s nice to taste a little of everything. Their steak was very tender, very divine and flavorful. Their angel hair shrimp scampi is delicious, ugh so delicious. I’m not the biggest fan of spinach but the spinach at this place was so so so good. Five star restaurant, five star service. Amazing experience.
Oceanaire had very impressive food. I had the Octopus, Crab Cake, Sea Bass and cheesecake and each dish was perfect. The service was also outstanding.
A+++ service and environment! Food are very fresh and tasty. Especially the crab meat sauce aside with my today special fish is perfect match! Also good deal with oysters platter and white wine, only $50 a set!
We booked in advance for a Birthday celebration. Greeted by a very charming hostess he seated us promptly. Adam! He was amazing. Very charming, knowledgeable, patient. A1 customer service. Made great suggestions as for as menu options. He made his guest have a very happy birthday, we didn’t get to talk all of the pics because we really enjoyed our food. He ordered a the king Alaskan salmon with spinach and shrimp fried rice, I ordered the 10 oz filet-mignon with Oscar Louie (lump crab meat) with the garlic mash on the side. We had a baked Alaskan dessert that Adam lit on fire! With strawberry cookies and cream inside! It was amazing! They also gave us an customized birthday menu! That was it for me!
Food was great, Chanel our server was amazing! Highly recommend you ask for her. Such a sweet spirit!
We celebrated my husband's birthday at Oceanaire and Oceanaire did not disappoint! The food, the service, the ambiance; everything was great! It was an enjoyable experience and we are still talking about the fantastic brussel sprouts and fried lobster, although EVERYTHING delicious!!
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. Our server, Chanel really went above and beyond to make us feel celebrated. The drinks were amazing and the food was chef’s kiss. Give Chanel a raise.
Outside of the food being delicious, Chanel was amazing! Highly recommend you request her as your server. She’s super sweet and personable.
Great place for your anniversary they treat you like royalty. Waiter was amazing!! And the hostess checked in as well really great experience need to get the baked Alaska when you go for dessert!
Me and my girlfriend went here for Valentine’s Day. We both got the filet mignon and lobster surf and turf, and it was delicious. The lobster was amazing and buttery, and the steak was cooked to perfection. We had an amazing waiter named Brandon—he was the best. Very attentive to me and my girlfriend, even though it was busy because of the holiday. He always made sure to check in on our table, so shout-out to Brandon—he was outstanding.
Ryheem, our waiter was amazing! He was very professional and gave us great recommendations. He gave us great wine pairing with our foods and made sure we were comfortable and had everything we need every time we were served. The food was delicious. The manager came by to check on us as well. They were very kind and accommodating. It was our anniversary and they gave us a free desert .
Amazing experience at Oceanaire! We celebrated my girlfriend’s 21st birthday in a private room, and the entire team made it unforgettable. Raheem our waiter (who was exceptional) went above and beyond, and the service was outstanding from start to finish. They were incredibly accommodating, even with a miscommunication on my end. The night couldn’t have gone better—she said it was the best birthday she’s ever had. Highly recommend!
Malik was a great bartender. The HH food was decent. The calamari was nice and crispy paired with a great sauce. The shrimp and grits were good but way too much oil/butter mixed around the grits. It was like soup with a touch of grits and 3 shrimp. Mule was great. Maybe the dining entree’s are better? Also I found it odd that the place was relatively empty and I got my check placed in front of me before my main dish even came out…
The restaurant itself is beautiful and perfect for a date. However, the food was just ok - my filet was cooked perfectly but lacked seasoning and the shrimp was salty. We've had much better crab cakes elsewhere for less $. The libations were good even if a bit pricy. I expected more all around. The service was top notch. We had a nice dinner overall.
This place was nice. Great place to have a nice dinner. Formal/ semi formal atmosphere. Great service, attention to detail for fine dining. Good was good.. Didn't hit the full mark. Interesting when the manager came and asked about dinner. We began a conversation.. abruptly left the conversation to answer the phone and never returned. Overall a good dinner.
Our experience at Oceanaire was simply lovely! The intimate upscale atmosphere, low lighting, soft background music and elegant decor created the perfect setting for an intimate romantic dinner. I can’t say enough good things about the service we received from our garçon, Ricky. His menu knowledge and attention to detail made for a seamless dining experience. We would come back just for the service. We started with the Grilled Oysters Rock, a pleasant updated twist of the classic Oyster Rockefeller. As for drinks, I enjoyed a very healthy and strong Barrel-Aged Manhattan and for him, the Toki Old Fashioned with a Japanese flair. For entrees, I had my first taste of Crispy Maryland Softshells which just came into season and were excellent. My dinner date enjoyed his Seared Sesame Crusted Yellowfin Tuna. We shared sides of garlic broccolini and grilled asparagus, both were garden fresh and prepared to perfection. To complete my night of firsts, Ricky, served a beautiful presentation of our Baked Alaska. It was the highlight of our evening at Oceanaire (see video). Overall, dining at Oceanaire was a delight from start to finish. The generous and satisfying dishes, well-crafted cocktails, impeccable service and low key ambiance made for a pleasurable date night.
Sitting down at the bar to start was a mistake. Two bartenders walked by me a total of 4 times; No "be right with you" or "how's it going just give me a minute", etc. So I got up and went to my table. The food was excellent, the drinks were just as good, and I appreciate the service Cassie gave.
Chanel was a wonderful server. She was upbeat, friendly, and very attentive. She was always smiling and making sure that we were taken care of. She made excellent recommendations and checked in regularly without coming by too often. Her recommendations for the brussels sprouts and lobster mac and cheese were on point!
I wasn't even going to do this review. Three of us had dinner there on Father's Day. The place was clean and the people were nice. The food was good but the service was the worst that we have had in several years. Took over 30 minutes to receive our appetizers after placing the order. I got a side of hash browns to go with my entree, and they didn't arrive until after I was finished eating, and that was only after reminding the staff that I never received it. We asked for the manager and he took a long time to get to our table. The place wasn't that busy, so it was kind of surprising. He did make some adjustments to make up for the Terrible service. For some reason, unlike other restaurants in the area, they do not offer valet parking. Based on this experience, I definitely wouldn't go back. I was there a couple of years ago, and everything was good. Maybe this was just a bad night. I'm not sure. But with the lack of parking and the service we'll find somewhere else to go.
Great time at Oceanaire! The atmosphere was calm and smooth. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Raheem and Cory (please forgive me if their names are incorrect) were THE BEST servers I've had in a very long time. Im indecisive but Raheem was able to help me choose good dishes. The one dish I chose, the Mussels a la Marinere was my least favorite. Too acidic or something and the mussels were slightly over steamed (if they were steamed). The lobster mac and cheese was nice, I prefer a slightly thicker cheese base but it was good nonetheless. Now the blue crab capellini that Raheem suggested was GREAT! I ordered a side of spinach and it was def too salty. To end, the cheesecake was great. All in all it was a good night.
Visiting Oceanaire in DC was a memorable affair, as we ventured to celebrate my best friend's birthday, and the place was a feast for the senses. Admittedly, the menu made my wallet wince a bit but, the high-end ambiance of the restaurant offered a fitting backdrop, making each dollar seem like a worthwhile investment. Portion sizes at first glance were modest but delivered a culinary depth charge, leaving me unexpectedly satisfied by the end of the meal. Cleanliness was on point throughout the restaurant, extending even to the bathrooms - a detail that didn't go unnoticed. However, a small puddle behind our table became a somewhat quirky landmark for the evening, receiving more foot traffic than attention from the cleaning crew. Our waiter was impressive with a deep understanding of the menu and offering solid recommendations. The ambiance, while sophisticated, was surprisingly quiet. It was like participating in an unspoken agreement to whisper, making the sound of my heels feel amplified. Lighting in the restaurant was somewhat challenging. It was rather dim, with a blue hue being the predominant source of illumination. This could potentially pose a difficulty for individuals who rely on lipreading. While the mood lighting was aesthetically pleasing, it's a detail the restaurant might consider addressing for better inclusivity. All things considered, Oceanaire is an attractive option for those looking to make an impression during a first date or celebrate a significant occasion. Just a little tip - watch out for puddles.
The service was very good. The food was slightly overpriced for the quality and quality. The crab cake was excellent and I highly recommend it. I would never order the foie grãs again. It was extremely small and not cooked perfectly. I would also not order the pork belly again. It was dry and over seasoned. For the price everything should be perfect.
Attended an organized group event here. The food was absolutely delicious, but the service was extremely slow. I probably attribute this to serving such a large group (~50 people), and so I wouldn’t recommend hosting a large event here. For reference, cocktail hour was an hour and a half because we were seated 30 min late, it took another 50 min to bring out preselected soup/salad, and then another 45 min to bring out entrees. To be fair, some groups might prefer this speed! I will probably return to try the normal seating experience, because again, food was fantastic.
I was thoroughly UN-impressed with the food at this particular Oceanaire. I ordered the lobster tail and shrimp simply cooked and they were well overcooked. The only thing I can say that came out good was the side which was brussel sprouts. This was on my birthday, and I was really disappointed and would not go back there again.
We got the seafood tower including rock crab claws. We also got steaks, some fish and mashed potatoes. The food was average at best for the price point. Drinks from the bar were too sweet and too weak. They took a while to make too despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The thing that sticks out most in my mind is that one of the servers had this overwhelming body odor. It ruined the meal for me.
Do not get the sushi! It's a shame because all other items were great, but all 3 sushi types we ordered were terrible. Would be better served removing sushi altogether from the menu to keep people from making the same mistake. There's zero reason for sushi this expensive to be this bad. Stick with the lobster, crab, etc.
Uhhhh it's definitely not what I remember only been a year since I've came. No wait on a Saturday night at 8pm The staff has changed, I had made a comment about an employee knocking over the stancheon and he mocked me back like what are you 5? The food wasn't the Best, having a cherry pie baked Alaska in mid October is kinda weird for being a seasonal change.
Very nice. Very romantic. Food portions are great and the food was so good. The server was very helpful. And we enjoyed ourselves. I don't like the gratuity. It's too high. And I tipped. I'm not going back because of that and where it's located.
Christmas dinner at Oceanaire was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The food was absolutely awful. The evening started with a very sour spicy pineapple margarita and apple martini. Both shouldn't be super sweet, but they should not taste of heavy doses of lemon either. On the next round we ordered wine to avoid further disappointment. Our main dishes were bland but serviceable. The sides were another story. I'm not sure who came up with the recipes but the Brussel sprouts came with a copious amount of nuts, without warning. Why? The lobster macaroni and cheese had overcooked, mushy noodles, very little cheese, and an overabundance of breading. It was a nightmare. I crunched my way through some bites before I gave up. I've dined here before and always had good experiences, but whoever was working the bar and preparing food seemed to be inexperienced or just made a lot of poor choices. I could not honestly consider anything I had on Christmas "good".
My experience was horrible!! The food was not all of that great, plus you get a small portion. The appetizers took so long as well as the food. Please be advised that you will be paying for water, in which wasn’t told to us before dining. The water totaled to over 75 dollars for 9 bottles, in which was about 1/3 of a cup each time. There were waiters pouring open bottles that they had served other tables that eventually we found out we were paying for. The one waitress that served us we only encountered at the beginning as well as towards the end when it was time to pay. She did come by and ask how was everything but didn’t stay to hear what we had to say. Then when approaching the manager to discuss the services, he automatically assumed we wasn’t able to afford it!!! Never again and I will not recommend this place to anyone. Over priced, little food, poor service, poor communication and definitely not fine dining, water taste as it was tapped! Also, it was very hot and dark so please be aware!
I usually don't write reviews but I'll make an exception today. We went here on Monday night for Baltimore Restaurant Week. The host sat the two of us in a back corner where it was dark and we couldn't even see the window. The whole restaurant was almost empty, he could've sat us in a nice bright place anywhere else. Not sure why he did this. We arrived here two hours before closing time. Service was very slow because we were hidden, the bartender was serving us and our server never showed up. Also the refrigerator behind us was making a loud rattling noise but the bartender fixed it when I mentioned it to him. The food was okay, not worth it to be honest. The fried calamari pieces were very small. The soft shell crab was fine. I would be fine with the food if we were seated in a nice, well-lit area like the rest of the patrons. The decor is nice there but we couldn't see anything. I've been here many times before and I just sat at the bar, no issues. I live nearby. You really need a new host, I don't think I'm going to come back for a while now. Maybe for happy hour, but not to dine in. Sorry.
By ALL Means PLEASE DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND 👉👉👉Skip This Place!!!! The Service is Horrible, instead of calling it Oceanaire this place need to be called NIGHTMARE !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Waiter JP was👉Extremely Rude and incompetent, today he ruined my holiday. My daughter and I made reservations for 6PM We arrived at the restaurant 6PM sharp. We waited over an hour to get food. OUR FOOD NEVER CAME !!!!!!!!!!!! Our food was not ready! My daughter and I "Only received beverages, that consist of👉 unsweetened half and half iced tea and unsweetened lemonade. It was not not until I say please bring us the check. I informed JP that My daughter and I was ready to 👉leave. We have been waiting over an hour and we still do not have our food. The time was 7:49 PM, and we do not have any food. JP became very nasty and rude with us, he had an attitude with me and my daughter. JP became snappy with me and said it has not been an hour. I then, asked to speak with his manager. He then denied me the right to speak with the manager. JP lied and said that there is no other member of management , or higher authorizative figure I can bring this matter to, but him. JP , then, tried to incite the situation in an "pointless arrugement" with my daughter, because we asked for the check and wanted to leave Oceanaire due to being unsatisfied, due to the extremely poor substandard services.
We ate there last night and for $400 we received Golden Corral quality food. The appetizers were good. Chicken pot stickers and mussels, in hind site we should have called it a night at that point. My wife had the king crab legs (shelled), but there was shell in just about every bite. I had the ribeye which was flavorless for the most part but was obviously cross contaminated as half of it tasted of fish so badly it was not edible. The truffle mashed potatoes did (according to my wife) taste of truffles but you could have fooled me. My son had the roasted half chicken which was over done and dry. When an 8 year that lives on chicken doesn't eat the chicken you know it's bad. Even ketchup couldn't save it. The fries with his meal were apparently good. Desert was good, the key lime pie and sticky toffee pudding both passed muster. The service was weird with both the bus boy and sever sticking their hands out for us to pass them plates we were finished with. My wife ate at Bazaar in DC last week which is around the same price point and was wowed by both the food and the service which is kind of what you expect when you want to spend that kind of money. This was the kind of experience you have where you expect Chef Ramsey to suddenly appear yelling at you to stop eating because he can't continue service...
My family and I had a 6:30 PM Christmas reservation at Oceanaire Baltimore. We were seated immediately, but the service and overall experience were unacceptable. After being seated, we waited 25 minutes before our waitress acknowledged us to take drink orders, 15 more minutes to receive drinks, and another 15 minutes before our food order was taken—nearly an hour after seating. She never introduced herself, was unfriendly, interacted with our table only a few times total, did not refill water, and stopped checking on us entirely. We had to rely on other staff passing by for basic needs. The lighting in the dining area dimmed repeatedly from very bright to extremely low levels for the entire evening. When we asked why, the question seemed to frustrate our waitress. Guests should be informed when conditions like this are occurring, especially since fluctuating lighting can impact comfort, accessibility, and potentially guest health. When the reservation was made by phone, we were told there would be a special Christmas menu starting Tuesday, December 23rd. This is why we asked about it. No such menu was available, which created misleading expectations. Our salads and soups arrived only about five minutes before our entrées, and our main dishes did not arrive until a few minutes after 7:45 PM, over an hour and fifteen minutes after our reservation time. Several steaks arrived without clarification of whose was whose, despite different temperatures. My brother’s steak was lukewarm, and his broccoli did not arrive until after the rest of the table had nearly finished eating. After asking reasonable questions (lighting, menu, missing food), the waitress became visibly irritated, repeatedly saying “okay, okay, okay,” then handed our table off to the manager, JP, and never returned. While we appreciated JP stepping in, it was apparent he was frustrated at having to wait a table, which affected the service. The dessert he offered did not arrive until around 8:30 PM, and we then had to track him down just to get the check. The bill was also incorrect, listing sides we ordered but never received. While JP removed them once told, this again reflected the lack of attentiveness throughout the night. Most concerning was the clear difference in service. We observed our waitress being warm, attentive, and even hugging other tables—who were not Black—while our table received dismissive and minimal service. Multiple tables seated after us ordered, ate, and left before we even received our entrées. We did not leave until 9:00 PM. We had family travel from South Carolina for Christmas, and this was meant to be a special holiday dinner. Given the cost and reputation of Oceanaire, accurate information, a comfortable dining environment, and professional, equitable service should be the minimum. In my opinion, the cumulative issues warranted a reduction in the bill, which was not offered.
Oceannaire is one of my favorite restaurants. Unfortunately, I had a very unpleasant experience last night. My husband and I dined there and ordered the New York strip and a 2lb lobster, respectively. He asked that his stake be prepared medium-well. The waitress had no idea what that was so we explained...no problem. When the stake arrived it was NOT as ordered and had to be sent back, so we waited. The waitress proclaimed, 'I told them medium well!' When the lobster came, it was bland. There were no garnishments and no presentation, but ok. Then I had to fight to open it, and when I finally did, it had not been cleaned. The inside of the lobster was filled with green and black mush, with a slight odor and it was rubbery to the taste. When I brought it to the attention of the manager, I assume that's who he was, tall with slightly curly hair, he said it was just the female eggs and that 'people still eat it that way.' Seriously!!!! (It couldn't be a female with eggs, because the eggs are on the outside AND I thought pregnant lobsters could not be harvested.) Nevertheless, it looked like the chef grabbed a 2lb lobster from the tank, or the refrigerator, threw it in the pot, and then threw it on the plate. NOT GOOD AT ALL!! I have dined at Oceannaire for a few years, and it has been one of favorites. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won't be visiting for a very long time. I hope this was a one-off experience, but please, please, please do better!!
I went there on a Thursday evening. It wasn't crowded. Service was extremely slow and the quality of the food was very poor. I ordered the 1/2 chicken which was actually 1/4 cornish hen (leg and thigh) which was dry. I also ordered the hash browns which were also lacking flavor. Others with me ordered the mac and cheese which they said had imitation lobster or low quality frozen lobster sprinkled on top. It is an over priced restaurant with mediocre food. I will never return ir recommend it to anyone.
