Outstanding Experience at The Choptank – Thanks to Layla! Last night my family and I dined at The Choptank in Baltimore, and our experience was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we were seated, Layla, our waitress, delivered beyond outstanding service. She didn’t just take care of our table—she elevated our entire evening. Layla went above and beyond in every way. Her recommendations were spot-on, her energy was warm and genuine, and she made our dinner celebration truly unforgettable. It’s rare to have someone who is both knowledgeable and incredibly attentive, and Layla delivered all of that and more. The food was phenomenal. • Chilean Sea Bass – cooked to absolute perfection. • Tom’s Oysters – delicious with the perfect touch of saltiness. • Pan-Seared Catfish – tender, flavorful, and melted in your mouth. While I’m not usually a big fan of their drink menu, Layla once again came through with amazing drink recommendations that made the night even more memorable. Thank you, Layla, for an exceptional experience! I’ll definitely be returning—and I’ll be asking for you!

We had dinner here on January 22nd, getting in around 5:00 pm, and I honestly could not believe how quiet it was we were basically the only two people in the restaurant. That alone felt wild, because everything about this place deserved a packed house. The bartender was fantastic friendly, attentive, and clearly knew her stuff. It was happy hour, so I ordered a peach tea crush and my friend got an orange crush. She even asked whether we wanted soda water or Sprite, which is such a small detail but something I'm never asked and it made the drinks even better. Both were absolutely delicious. Now let's talk food, because wow. I ordered the half & half soup (half Maryland crab soup, half cream of crab), and it was hands-down the best crab soup I've ever had. I'm not exaggerating it was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. So good that we later came back for soup to go, and then also DoorDashed soup that night because we realized we were going to want more. That should tell you everything. I also got the lobster roll with crab and bacon fries, and I'm still thinking about it. Unreal. My friend ordered the pan-seared rockfish with loaded mashed potatoes, and her meal was just as incredible. Everything came out fast, hot, and beautifully prepared. The restaurant itself is gorgeous clean, comfortable, stylish, and welcoming. Every staff member we interacted with was helpful and kind, and the whole experience felt effortless. Yes, prices are a little on the higher side but this is seafood, and nothing felt shocking or out of line for the quality you're getting. Completely worth it. What really blew my mind was that when we stopped back later, it still wasn't busy maybe 10-20 people total, on a Thursday night in Fells Point. Absolutely baffling. Bottom line: This place is now a mandatory stop anytime I'm in Fells Point honestly, probably daily if I'm in the area. Incredible food, great drinks, beautiful space, and top-notch service. If you're skipping The Chop Tank, you're doing it wrong.

Service was excellent, Xavier was very helpful and attentive. We had a crab cake that was amazing and the Baked Lobster pasta that was so flavorful. Will definitely return on our next visit to Baltimore!!! Thanks again Xavier!!!!!

The food is not over seasoned. It’s perfect. I had the crab soup and crab cakes and loved them. Note, I hate crab. But the Bartender Kaila was very convincing in giving it a shot and I am glad I did. I felt safe and enjoyed my meal in peace. The Chilean sea bass was butter and Mac and cheese was SOOOOOOO CHEESEY! the perfect kind of cheesy!!! Come by, give it a try. You won’t regret it! Staff was incredibly kind!!!

The food is fresh and absolutely delicious, and the drinks are so yummy! Popped in after Krampuslauf and was genuinely delighted by how impressive everything turned out to be. Even though the dining room was full, the bar service was fantastic—warm, attentive, and just added to the whole experience. I’m so glad to have stopped in!

We tried several menu items, and everything was great. We got Maryland crab+cream of crab soup, which was excellent. We also got the tartare, calamari, and a dozen raw oysters. It was all delicious! I also loved the house margarita ❤️

Wonderful crab cakes and outdoor patio. Also have great local beers on draft and wonderful service. Highly recommended if in fells point. Note you can split the crab cake meal and get your own sides which are huge.

This is our second visit to Choptank. The hostess was very nice and friendly and seated us immediately upon entry. Our waitress Taylor was very attentive. She did an amazing job. We ordered the cream of crab soup, old-fashioned (drink), oysters, po’boy (fish), and crab cake entree, with corn pudding. Everything was amazing. We also had a special visit from Jordan, Roy and the executive chef Calvin. Jordan’s hospitality was unmatched. We had a great conversation with Roy and Calvin. We can't wait to meet up again when they are not working. If you are looking for good food, service, staff, and atmosphere check out Choptank. We are loyal foodies and we know an amazing organization when we see one. Choptank and the Atlas Group is top tier.

Arrived here with a very large group(25-30 ppl) during the CIAA. We were immediately seated and offered special menus for the event, though the regular menu was more than sufficient. I believe we made Tyler, our server, a bit nervous initially, but he handled us with grace. Our appetizers and drinks came fairly quickly. Our cocktails were strong and fruity. A great margarita substitute. The soups my group had were so good I didn't even get a picture. The chicken wings were well seasoned and sauced. As a self-proclaimed ranch snob, their recipe was pretty good. The Eastern Cobb salad was very good. The breading on the fried oysters was delicious and definitely a new salad topper for me. My fellow diners enjoyed their food as well. As a native Marylander, I appreciated the vibe of a reimagined historic Fell's Point. The live musician was definitely entertaining! During his cover of 'Fast Car,' my back was to him, and I didn't realize Tracy Chapman wasn't playing on the speakers. He has a great voice and mellow and warm on the cold, windy evening. Thank you to Chef Riley for the great take on Maryland cuisine and to Genevieve and the proprietors for helping our group find a great place.

Overall, great staff and good food. The location is perfect. Literally, in the center of everything. Took a group of girls there for dinner. Had a well balanced meal. Highly recommended. Thanks Choptank.

August 2022. Stopped here for a quick lil smth smth during happy hour and this shi was great. First time trying the green tea shot here and it was 👌🏼👌🏼 also got the recommended by the bartender Orange Crush 🍊 (?) which was also pretty fire. We shared a handful of apps between the 4 of us: Oysters 🦪 , Maryland Crabdip 🦀, and Mussels. The oysters were super fresh. The crab dip was amazing, it was covered in cheese on a iron cast pan served with some 🥖- damn it was good fr. The mussels were good too, but the crab dip was my favorite of the bunch. Service was great - we sat outside by the bar. Our servers were attentive and friendly. Would definitely come back here again.

Really good crab cake 🔥 the drinks were good, Cole slaw was also really good and I’m not a Cole slaw fan but it helped balance out the crab cake 👌 definitely left satisfied 👏🙌

The food was amazing and #Tyler's recommendations were delicious. Ask him about the seafood Mac & Cheese. After eating at The Choptank, we are as Happy as a Clam and the world is our Oyster 😁

Absolutely amazing experience and food. In town for the weekend and had Ashley as our server - she answered all our questions and guided us with menu items and must haves. Give Ashley a raise! Tried the grapefruit and green tea crushes and am obsessed - super delicious and refreshing. Went on Sunday for football and they had a special game day menu. Everything was great - lots of seating as well

Fantastic place to visit if you’re in Baltimore. Their cream of crab soup is a 10/10. If you ever go for brunch, order the donut of the day - the chef makes these amazing donuts (fruity pebbles, cinnamon toast crunch, etc) and they are to die for. I love their oysters and if you love oysters to, you won’t be disappointed. I would recommend sitting at the outdoor bar because the bartenders there make your experience that much greater. It’s impossible to not tip them because they surely provide outstanding customer service. I am never disappointed when I come here and I will continue to go here because it’s a different experience every-time.

Vibes were high today with the dj playing all the good jams. Oysters, calamari and orange crushes for our stop along our baltimore tour.

The food was fantastic, the atmosphere was great, and the server was helpful and courteous. We got more food than we could finish but it was all delicious! Highly recommended the soups, and appetizers! The drink menu had a lot of variety, and includes fun frozen drinks.

Ally and Amy were amazing. I’m impressed with their customer service. They greeted me right when I got to the bar, they answered all my questions and they delivered my items very quickly. I will be back because of them. This was my first time and the New Yorkers who came told me they felt the same way about the customer service and they will be back because of Ally and Amy as well. Thank you!

I LOVED Choptank. The service was phenomenal at the bar, the bartender made great conversation. Me and a friend came late on a Wednesday night and got espresso martinis, mussels, and oysters. All great choices. We will definitely be coming here more regularly.

I had been anticipating the opening of this new place for a long time. I was very excited to finally go and WAS NOT disappointed. We went to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary so it was a special occasion. It was a beautiful evening so we started outside with a happy hour drink. The outside atmosphere is really nice and I'm sure but will be hopping next summer. They had heaters on so it was very comfortable and fairly crowded at the outside bar. After a drink we went inside the dinner. The restaurant is beautiful! We got a great booth with big windows. Nice ambience! We tried the clams casino, oysters, the Rockfish Oscar entree and 6 crabs! It was a feast for the ages! Everything was good including the delicious golden Graham ice cream from Taharka's. The Choptank is going to end up being the place to go... I'm sure it's a can't miss endeavor!

OMFG!!! First off, Micky is THE best!! She explained all the dishes to us and gave her personal recommendations and everything that she suggested was PHENOMENAL!! She makes AMAZING drinks and she talked to us like we were long time friends! ChopTank, you TRULY have a gem having Micky work at your establishment! We will be coming back!! Food was PERFECT!! We definitely left with a smile on our faces! Micky YOU ROCK!!! ☺️😊

We had such a great experience! Kaila was amazing. So friendly, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. She guided us through ordering and helped us pick out the perfect oysters, which were absolutely delicious. Her recommendations really made the meal feel special. Highly recommend both the restaurant and asking for Kaila if you get the chance!

We sat outside at the bar on a beautiful day to watch the US Open that was playing on two of their screens and it was a lovely experience. The drink menu is large, the service was fantastic, and the prices are reasonable. The wings and the brussels sprouts were both great appetizers. We will be back.

Stopped in to try some Baltimore classics on a road trip and my server, Xavier, could not have been more helpful. I ordered three oysters with my other dishes, and without even asking, he got me three different types of them from around here. Super helpful, food was gas, would absolutely try it again here.

I stopped in for a solo dinner while on a business trip in January. The crab cake was delicious, and the service by Kaila was excellent. Will definitely be back.

I recently went to The Choptank for a birthday celebration and had a really great experience overall. The atmosphere in Fells Point is always fun, and Choptank had a lively vibe that made it feel like a perfect place to celebrate. Live music is always a plus. Our server Tyler was honestly one of the highlights of the night. He was super friendly, attentive without hovering, and made sure everything went smoothly. He really helped make the birthday feel special and memorable, which we appreciated a lot. For food, we started with the oysters, which were fresh and really good. We also ordered the wagyu meatball, and those were probably my favorite super flavorful and cooked perfectly. The crab cakes were another standout, lots of crab and not too much filler, just how they should be. Overall, it was a great night with good food, a fun atmosphere, and excellent service. Big shoutout to Tyler for making the experience even better. Definitely a spot I’d come back to, especially for another special occasion.

Choptank always delivers a great experience. The oysters were amazing, and the spicy mussels were a standout. Kaila was incredibly kind and such a great bartender, she really made our night even better. The happy hour light fare options were perfect for sharing, too!

First time visiting Inner Harbor, this was a great spot to try! We came on a Saturday so it was the brunch menu and there were so many unique and tasty options. LOVED the crab omelette. Our server Xavier was very helpful with good suggestions, which was nice since it was our first time visiting. Would recommend and go back! Also a spacious bar inside and for patio season an awesome bar space.

Kaila was awesome she has awesome drinks up her sleeve and makes them with love. Jordan the manager crushed christmas decorations getting me and the wife in the holiday spirits. Definitely makes you stay a while with the cozy feels and bar seats that aren't stools..they actually have backs to there chairs who knew! Did I mentioned the crabs are amazing! Good job guyz!

Great happy hour - quality oysters for $1.50 and house wine for $7. Amy - our bartender- was an outstanding mixologist and a delightful human. She deserves a promotion! Some of the best cocktails I’ve had in Baltimore. Food was also outstanding; Highly recommend if you were interested in fresh seafood for dinner.

This was my second visit to choptank in Fells point and it did not disappoint. We started with lemon drop cocktails crafted by my favorite bartender Ryan for appetizers we tried the honey ole bay wings and jumbo meatball with garlic bread-both amazing. We were so full, that we ended up taking our main courses to go, but I enjoyed the crabcake mac & cheese and salad for dinner at home. They were fantastic. Can’t wait to come back Ryan you made me a fan.

Decided to come downtown Baltimore to see what has changed and found this newly renovated location on Broadway market. Very nice and spacious!! Came for drinks and appetizers. No wait on Monday nights, got to take I the ambiance. The food of choice was the Choptank wings(good), Cream of crab soup(need more crabmeat good), potato skins( different flavor but good), passion fruit Margarita and Long island Ice tea. Bartender was good! Over all happy with my choices. Will have to try again for dinner. If in the area try them out!!

After reading other reviews, I had low expectations of the quality of the food for the price point. Unfortunately, I have to report we were underwhelmed and left much food on the table. First, I informed the server I had a crab and shrimp allergy. I was there to treat my family. ;) I ordered the fried oyster salad with tons of other stuff. My expectation is she would remove the crab and shrimp…she did not! I ended up getting the Old Bay BBQ wings, a Bmore thing. The first bite was an acquired taste. But I will say those were some of the best tasting wings. The Mac and Cheese was devoured by all. The fish and chips, per my sister she couldn’t eat it. It was soggy and tasted funny. My daughter had the crab cakes and said they were flavorful less. My dad did not enjoy his steak as it was over cooked. The drinks were very delicious! The ambiance was so freaking cool and inviting, especially at night. We were there on a Sunday and several biker clubs rode by.

Choptank offers pretty good food, but our experience was mixed due to the service. As a party of 10, we found the wait times for our server to be longer than expected, which led us to order less than we might have otherwise. Once the food arrived, it was delicious and well-prepared. However, the overall experience was just okay, primarily due to the slow service. With improvements in timeliness, it could be a top-notch dining spot.

I went to The Choptank with low expectations, and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food/service and the reasonable prices. Their game day menu was a great deal with $5 beers and significantly lower prices for popular menu items like oysters and crab dip. We also tried Maryland crab and cream of the crab soups and found both decent. While the Baltimore area has amazing seafood options (some with better food), The Choptank is still a decent option if you want a spacious/chill spot at Fells Point with very good service.

Stopped in here just to grab a drink and chill real nice open air cool vibe have some drinks. We didn’t actually get any food because we were heading to an art festival with had food and stuff there, but the drinks are really good. Bartending staff on point strong poresI did look at the menu looked at really good. There were some things I would’ve liked to tried, but perhaps another time can’t wait to come back next time. We’re in Bell point.

Cool restaurant, they did a good job serving us and customer service from the manager and waiter were top notch. Food quality keeps me from giving a higher score. Cool experience if you’re in town.

Good food, good atmosphere, great time. We had the pleasure of sitting at the bar with Kaila G. Phenomenal bar tender. She even showed me how to crack and eat a blue crab the correct way. Amazing service and good food. Highly recommend stoping in and checking them out.

We had a good overall experience at The Choptank in Baltimore, and our waitress Lyla C. was truly amazing. She was friendly, attentive, and made us feel so welcome from start to finish. Her positive energy and excellent service are honestly the main reason this rating is as high as it is. I am deducting a star due to the food quality. Compared to the Annapolis location, the Baltimore restaurant felt like it was lacking in flavor, cleanliness, and overall quality. That said, Lyla absolutely elevated our experience, and we really appreciated her outstanding service.

B
Brandon Carter

Our server Keith was very nice & provides great service! It was my very first time in Baltimore & I looked up this place because they supposedly had very good seafood! I tried the calamari & it was very good! Calamari is my go to appetizer. We enjoyed the happy hour drinks & food menu. I would definitely go back again!

I use to be a regular at Choptank because of the crabs and great service. Over time I believe the quality has diminished. Today I came in with a friend to try to give them another chance and sadly neither one of us were impressed. The service was great (we sat at the bar) our bartender was very friendly and attentive, shout-out to Nicole aka Coley for her great service. After we received our crabs and some time had gone by a young man approached us and asked if everything was ok and we politely let him know that we were not impressed with the quality of crabs nor the size. We ordered Large crabs and received mediums (I’ll drop the pictures below). The manager Juan came and spoke to us and we let him know we weren’t satisfied with the quality of crabs we received but we are obviously going to pay for them since we understand the industry. He let us know this is not the first complaint that he’s received today about the crabs. Overall, if you’re looking to get good crabs you should go elsewhere. Yesterday we went to another crab spot and not only were the crabs heavy and large, they were also flavorful! Baltimore is known for crabs, if you’re from out of town trying to have that Baltimore seafood experience it will be ruined here. Check out Skipjacks, Ships or even Conrad’s for crabs! Choptank has a good half n half soup amongst other things but stay far away from the crabs please.

Not sure why this place got good reviews. The menu was meh. The food was over priced, wasn't seasoned well and took a while to come. Two of the dishes had to be sent back. No one left satisfied. Our server was fine at first (which is why I gave a 3 instead of a 2) then disappeared to work behind the bar. Sad my friend didn't get the birthday dinner of her dreams

I visited this place for the first time recently and the space itself was nice. The outdoor area was beautiful, I wish I would’ve taken photos of it. Unfortunately, it was about 20 degrees when I visited lol The food itself was just okay. The crab cake was pretty bland in flavor and wings weren’t that great either. Service itself was decent. It may have been better had we went earlier in the day maybe.. unsure🤷🏾‍♀️

We were so excited to try out Choptank. The ambience was nice. We sat out on the patio which had a couple heaters going on to keep us warm. There was a live singer that we could hear through the speakers. Service was good in which the server suggested the stew. The food looked delicious but the food was unbelievably salty which was extremely disappointing. We were all looking forward to dining here. My son and girlfriend recently moved to Baltimore and I decided to visit them. We ordered calamari as our appetizer. Although the calamari was perfectly fried (tender), it was not crispy and it was a somewhat small portion for the $18. It had a good flavor though with the lemon and the sauce. My son had the crabcake sandwich. He rated it as an 8. From the looks of it the crabcake was a good-sized portion for the price ($32). The accompanying fries I heard was also tasty. Where did they go wrong? My son's girlfriend ordered the cup of Cream of Crab. First of all, since that was the only thing she ordered, the server should have served that along with the other dishes. She felt she had to wait while we got the other two meals. Unfortunately she could eat less than half of the soup because it was extremely salty! I wish I had known that was the reason why she could not eat it. Why? Because my Blue Crab Stew was so salty even the potatoes absorbed so much they were not palatable! Why did I not complain while we were there? Because I did not want to embarrass my son since this was the first special dinner I had with them. This was the most expensive unpalatable dining event I have experienced. I am saddened also because I was so looking forward to enjoying the local seafood. 😞 The presentation was beautiful but it was very hard to eat the crab because I did not have a cracker to crack the claw. For $32, the stew was so underwhelming. Although I liked our server, she was missing most of the time. And it was sad because after the salty stew and soup, we really needed the water to rinse the salt away. Would I eat here again? Most likely not. Would I recommend it? probably not. It is a shame too since i enjoyed the ambience and food presentation. The flavor could not be experienced because the salt made it difficult to distinguish how the stew and soup were to taste.

As a lifelong Marylander this is the worse crab cake I’ve ever had. It was so much breading in it that I couldn’t stomach it. The price was around standard for a crab cake so I expected better quality. Additionally , the broccolini was super cold and caesar salad tasted sour. I brought this to our waitress attention and she was really nice but the manager refused to come out and speak with us. I won’t be coming back and there’s way better other places to eat , skip this place!

Wendy Kever

The first time we ate here we had two the big beautiful seafood platters. It was a great experience but I had crab chowder and was sick with food poisoning that night. … We had family in town and went back for the seafood platters. The crab actually smelled fowl when we got. They explained that the crabs kill each other and we must have gotten a dead crab that they cooked for us?!!! They re-cooked us crab but they were a little stinky too and nobody really wanted to eat them. We wont be eating here again.
