Opinions de Beausoleil Coastal Cuisine Baton Rouge
Good service from Dave, good wine, good boudain balls (beautiful presentation of towers with sauce and pickled red onion), great potato soup, and the grilled chicken/ham/brie on croissant with Creole honey mustard...well, I'll drive back from Texas for MORE of this!!! Very pleasant ambience, though quiet because we visited mid-afternoon. Thanks for a lovely afternoon with my sister!!
Last Tuesday I brought my parents to eat dinner at Beausoleil Coastal Cuisine and we are glad we arrived early as the place filled up fast around us! To start us off, Dad had the lobster bisque, which he stated was the best he had ever had, and in no way tasted like the powdered Sisco product most places serve. Mom enjoyed the french onion soup which was a rich cheesy bowl of (in her words - LOL) yummy gooeyness. I had thought I would skip the first course so I didn't really look over that part of the menu, but when my parents ordered their soups, the server suggested I try the House Salad, which I assumed would be the usual iceberg lettuce with a couple pieces of tomato and cucumber; instead I received a gastronomical delight of (per their menu that I reviewed again later) spring mixed greens, shaved fennel, spiced pecans, ash-cured carrots in an apple+pear vinaigrette (I really hate the taste of vinegar but I couldn't taste even a hint of it - whoohoo!), but I decided the best part was the fried goat cheese, which was absolutely OMG-delicious! (At first I thought it was a hushpuppy due to its color and size, but when I sliced into the crispy coating with my fork, the "creamier than cream cheese" consistency inside said "hello" and I fell in love.) Mom had the shrimp pasta (with really nice sized shrimp), Dad had the HUGE fried flounder sandwich (delish tartar), and I had the HUGE Provencal Chicken; all dishes had enough food on the plate to fill our tummies and each still could have made about a half-plate to-go box, but I had no shame and ate all of mine. The fried food was perfect (of course, I tasted Dad's dish too, again, no shame) - not to heavy on the crust coating and still juicy inside. My fried chicken came with Provencal vegetables including olives, which makes sense as I know Provence is a Mediterranean region of southeast France next to Italy (we still had a hard time trying to pronounce "Provencal" to the server). Unfortunately our full tummies told us we had no room for the dessert options the server offered, but there will be a next time for sure! Our compliments to the owners, managers, chef and staff for the beautiful restaurant, great service, and wonderful dishes!
I really enjoyed this unexpected gastropub in a strip mall. Nice interior design and a well-designed menu. I tried the beets starter, which was an interesting and very tasty reconstruction of the classic beets with goat cheese. And the duck was perfectly cooked and delicious. Worth the visit. Almost forgot the addictive pork rinds that appeared on the table to start...
Amazing from the first step inside, we had an amazing experiance both with the food as well as our server (Dean) ! Just the right amount of European flare combined with down home ambiance combines for one of Baton Rouge's best small restaurants! A++ In our book all day long and dont pass up the starter brussel sprouts!
The new Beausoleil iteration is really terrific. We went for a wine pairing dinner and initially when we signed up we felt like it was pricey but then once we arrived and experienced the evening, it was a fantastic investment in outstanding food and wines along with personal service. Peyton the new general manager at Beausoleil is outstanding at his job with his interpersonal skills as well as management abilities. Bravo Stephen Hightower, another home run.
Decided to celebrate my one year anniversary with TAM and chose here tonight! I wasn't disappointed! The hostess greeted me with a smile at my arrival as well as my departure! Jordan was my server and was very knowledgeable of the menu selections and provided me with excellent service as well! I enjoyed my meal and was very pleased with my decision!
Very good food and service. Brussel sprouts are a must order. Crab cake was very good. The corn that came under the crab cake had a little to much cumin for my wife’s taste, but I thought it was great. The bone-in ribeye was one of my top five steaks. The bread pudding was also a must order, one of the very best in Baton Rouge!
Driving through the south and went with an old friend to catch up. The staff took care of us, but gave us our space which let us catch up. We sat outside, in January, but it was a nice morning...and at least 30 degrees warmer than home. Food was great. I got the shrimp and grits, as I'd never had grits before and seeing as it was the south, it felt I had too. Not sure if that's stereotypical of southern grits, but these guys made it amazing. I'm now hankering for it. The campfire desert is so good, and quite large. Easily could share it between 2 or 3 people. It's quite rich, but worth the cheat day.
Our family went there for restuarant week. The food was spectacular. We started off with two delicious appetizers, crispy pork and deviled eggs. My main course was smoked duck breast and my wife had the prime rib. Both were fabulous. My son had the crawfish fries and my daughter had the truffled oysters. I would recommend any of the items we selected. One note, this restuarant would be considered upscale, and expect the bill to reflect it as well.
First time visit here did not disappoint! Our food was delicious and the presentation was top notch. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfection! The crawfish and duck spring rolls were so good. I especially enjoyed the rice that comes with it. Now to the service- our waiter Joshua was awesome! So attentive and knowledgeable of all menu items including cocktails. I highly recommend this place for date night, girls night or just to unwind after work. 10/10
If I could give 10 starts I would. The experience was amazing ! We were on a road trip traveling from Miami to Dallas. Stopped in New Orleans and decided to eat an hour away in Baton Rouge. The food here was better than any high end restaurant in Miami. The food and the service are phenomenal. This restaurant deserves a Michelin star. ⭐️ Thank you so much 🙏🏼
Beausoleil Coastal is the perfect date night restaurant! The dishes are top notch, the presentation is beautiful, and they offer a great happy hour too. We thoroughly enjoyed the Fish Jean Louis with amberjack, though everything we tried was delicious. The housemade peanut butter cup is off the charts! Keep up the great work. We’ll be back for sure and will keep recommending this restaurant to others as well.
Had a truly excellent time at Beausoleil last night with my wife. Their summer seasonal drink menu was on point and each of our dishes were delicious and filling. Rather than order two entrees we opted for four rounds of appetizers. The crawfish aroncini were the stars of the show, but the shrimp on their seacuterie board were a close second. Their happy hour special lool incredible and I'll need to take off early one afternoon to check them out!
11/21/21 Dined here for the first time and ABSOLUTELY enjoyed EVERYTHING I ORDERED!!!! Waitress Devin was very cordial. The staff, in general, was awesome and hospitable. 1. Crab cakes: delicious with their version of remoulade sauce (it's white) 2. Lobster mac and cheese was delightfully tasty! Shell noodles cooked in a very mild and creamy cheese sauce 🙂 3. Vegetable moussafa (wrong spelling) was good, too--it was a much smaller portion than the other meals prepared. 4. Crab claws: this was okay--I wouldn't order it again, though 5. THE TEMPURA SHRIMP!!!!! OMG!!!! I WANTED TO MAKE AT LEAST 2 MORE ORDERS OF THIS TONIGHT! The shrimp are very large, but they must be marinated/tenderized long before they are prepared. They were cooked just right! 6. Mississippi Mule drink was great! Wondefully done, Bartender! 7. Steamed vegetables consisted of broccoli and sauteed string beans 8. My dinner guest ordered the raw oysters (Alabama Oysters instead of the Canadian), and he downed those in less than 10 minutes, so they must have been good. Nice ambiance at the restaurant. Clean restrooms. Great food! I will be back!
Yum! Have been wanting to try this place and it did not disappoint. Their truffle oysters for appetizers are wonderful. The sauce that it comes with pairs perfectly with the flavors. Tried one of their fish for the night, Red Snapper, and that was cooked perfectly! It didn’t have that fish taste, which is hard to cook out sometimes. The veggies and potatoes that came with it were good, too. Although, I thought the potatoes might’ve been a little too hard and thin, almost like fries, but not fries. Our server (Thomas) was an absolutely joy to have, and we appreciated his attentiveness and attention to detail, like switching out utensils for new ones based on what we were eating. Their fried cheese balls (goat cheese, blue cheese), were so delicious, too. The outside seating is very pleasant - may be a bit hot during our warmer seasons, but fall is a delight.
My friend and I had a wonderful meal for my birthday yesterday. PJ was our server and he was delightful. He made me feel special by bringing out a slice of cake with a candle. My friend doesn’t like cake so he brought her a little something special as a surprise also. Just wanted you to know that he created raving fans yesterday—and that’s what it’s all about. With so many choices of places to dine in BR, it’s how you treat people that keeps them coming back. You guys get it!
Food and atmosphere for both wonderful. This is a fine dining establishment and priced accordingly. The 14 oz bone in rib eye was fantastic mushrooms and sauce compliment it perfectly. V Pan roasted chicken breast was slightly crisp on the outside and super tender on the inside with the pesto butter was outstanding. We did not care for the cabbage it was a bit tart sort of a vinegar flavor. The crawfish fries for the appetizer was also delightful. The oysters Rockefeller soup Was enjoyed immensely by both of us comes with a Fried oyster on top. The white chocolate bread pudding and the chocolate pot de creme was probably 2 of the best desserts we have ever had had a restaurant. We had very good service and all of the courses came out perfectly timed
Try out the sushi and expand your horizons! Beautiful atmosphere, great staff and wonderful food. Cocktails were lovely. Would like to give a shout-out to Philipe, Ben, Zac and Aiden all for a job well done and being so accommodating! ❤️😉 This certainly felt like a wonderful time dining experience.
This was easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in Baton Rouge. Fantastic cocktail menu (try the key lime martini). We also had the Creole Crevettes, Brown Butter Drum, Yoruba Red Snapper, and Bread Pudding. Highly recommend all these options, they have phenomenal flavors and taste very fresh. Phillipe’s service was incomparable and we really enjoyed him. We put this on the top of our list for date night options, and we will be back soon!
Excellent meal, service & atmosphere. We had the chargrilled oysters. They were some of the best we have ever had. The bread was wonderful. We also had the seacuterie board. It was all very good. Jim had the 24 oz steak. It was a bit much for me but he enjoyed it. We finished with the goat cheese cheesecake with fresh fruit. It was excellent. Very good dining experience. I would highly recommend. I almost forgot, we had some duck spring roll for appetizer that was exceptionally good. This might have been the best part of the meal. The spring roll & the oysters alone are worth the stop.
A perfect blend of coastal elegance and Southern hospitality, Beausoleil delivers fresh seafood, premium ingredients, and vibrant Gulf Coast flavors. I highly recommend the brown butter drum—I felt adventurous and swapped the garlic mashed potatoes for the dirty rice risotto, and it was absolutely worth it. Don’t skip the New Orleans-style charbroiled oysters—they’re a must-have during happy hour.
I was actually surprised by how good the food was. Highly seasoned and flavorful dishes. I had the Jamaican Pork while my guest had the RedFish and we split the grilled chicken Greek salad. I mean down to the bread that was served everything was delightful. Our server was kind, the restaurant was clean, and nicely decorated. However it was chilly in there so I insist on bringing a jacket. I am definitely going back and I would say this place is more of a semi formal type of establishment.
Went here for New Years Eve dinner and could not have asked for a better experience. It was not too loud so could have easy conversation. Waitress and trainee were super friendly and the food was delicious.I want to go back already! Our tenderloin came out a little more raw than we would have liked for medium and they happily took it back and made a completely new plate. It did take a little time but they discounted it and we were also given two desserts. Highly recommend!
As I told Henry, our young handsome waiter, I'm not easily impressed; however, I was left in awe of the superb customer service, delicious brussel sprouts starter, the follow-up spinach salad with chicken, and lastly the lemon blueberry mascarpone. To top it off. Henry recommended a local "Parish" beer that had the overwhelming smell of sweet Filipino mango, but had a refreshing citrus taste. Thanks for making this a great evening on my wife wife's birthday! We'll definitely be back! Impressed 👍👍👍
My wife and I always enjoy the experience provided at Beausoleil. Service, food, drinks, atmosphere are always on point! Cannot say enough about this place! If you are wanting to impress or just want a great, authentic experience, you can’t miss with Beausoleil! 6/17/25 came back and was surprised to see a new menu. Tried several things including their amazing seafood gumbo and watermelon feta salad. I always try everyone’s version of an Old Fashioned and this is definitely one of my favorites. They definitely have some new talent in the kitchen and behind the bar. We can’t wait to return and sample more of the menu!!!
We were celebrating a friends retirement and it was the best restaurant experience ever. Our waitress (Morgan) was very professional, efficient, caring and accommodating. She made sure all of our meals were correct and met out satisfaction. Morgan welcomed us and even told us “Thank you” and welcomed us to come back. Excellent service and food. Thank you Morgan for making our friends “Special” day even more “Special”. You are the best waitress ever!
Amazing dinner! I had the lamb with chimichurri, local mushrooms, and duck hash it was all incredible. Great drinks, warm atmosphere, and attention to detail. Can’t wait to come back
Great pick fire a romantic and cozy date night. The food was wonderfully prepared and the staff was attentive but not intrusive. Not too busy at 6pm when we went and we dis the dining room over the bar area. I had the 8oz filet and the wife had the stuffed Drum fish. The crab stuffed shrimp are a must as well as the pecan praline bread pudding!
My friends and I recently visited this restaurant and had a great experience. We were seated right away and enjoyed the friendly staff, clean and well-lit environment. The service was speedy, and the food was delicious. We tried the shell shots, Nashville hot chicken, chicken and fried toast, and shrimp and grits—all of which were fantastic. With great prices and such a positive experience, I highly recommend this place for brunch!
What a delightful experience. We did make a reservation and went for dinner. It was raining out so the patio was closed. Go on a pretty day and brunch on the patio!!!! We had the brown butter drum, the hickory salmon, and started off with the chargrilled oysters. The service, atmosphere, and food was all 5🌟
Excellent service. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. All the dishes were fantastic except for the lava cake which was a little dry. Great cocktails. Playlist was a little intense/loud for a sit down dinner but I understand how the music could work well on a busy night with a busy bar. Great experience overall!
I haven’t given 5 stars in a while but this place was worth it. EZ was our server and was very attentive , thoughtful and prompt . They have an amazing cocktail menu( we had stormy spice & vampire kiss) . We also had the Crab claws, Brown Butter Drum, Yoruba Red Snapper, Hickory Salmon and lava cake with ice cream . They all were phenomenal and full of flavors . As we were celebrating my b’day they treated me with a cute Champagne bottle and a b’day card signed by everyone ❤️ This is going to be one of our favorite restaurant in town !!
Very nice experience sitting at the bar, was served by Everett who was very clearly knowledgeable about just about any alcohol or cocktail you could think of on the menu or off. Definitely would go back to have him mix up some drinks again. Their cocktail list was innovative and exciting with ones you'd never think to see somewhere and each one tasting better than the last.
Boyfriend and I came in for happy hour and had such a good time we stayed for dinner! We tried the shrimp and watermelon appetizer with the homemade ricotta and it was amazing! We also had the mussels with the pesto aioli, such a unique choice to add but very good combination! The charbroiled oysters were perfect, glad to see they were gulf coast oysters. We shared the lamb entree for dinner! the duck hash was delicious and the local mushrooms were also a great addition! The bartender Jeremy was super friendly and I didn’t get the manager’s name but he made sure to check in on us as well! We were hesitant to try this place again because we had a bad experience a few years back but we found out there’s an all new executive team, definitely feel like that should be advertised because we would have been back sooner! Had such a great time we forgot to get our usual foodie pictures but we will definitely be back soon! Also heard about a tequila dinner they are having soon that we will have to get in on!
Everette was phenomenal. He was very handsome and knowledgeable. Me and the wife were in complete awe of his sick skills. 10000% will be returning. We live, laugh, and love beausoliel.
My husband and I are vegetarian, while our kids eat meat, so it's often hard to find a nice restaurant that caters to both. This place was a wonderful surprise! We ordered from both the regular menu and the Restaurant Week menu, and everything was delicious — not a single disappointment. The service was also top-notch. We’ll definitely be back soon!
Excellent dinner and service. Scallops, duck, brussel sprouts, cauliflower and desserts were all delicious.
Food was absolutely disgusting! When we walked in I was wondering why no one was there. I see why now. Spent $150 on 2 appetizers, 1 soup and 2 glasses of wine for my husbands birthday to have the soup cold and my husband in the bathroom throwing up from the mussel appetizer. The menu was limited and the food was deplorable. We use to love coming here for the delicious food. Never again.
Personnel were professional & friendly. Atmosphere was top notch! Some food items were not 100% to our liking but it is hard to serve a large party such as we had. The scallops & pork belly were yum. The fried truffle oysters were overdone & dry but overall we had a great experience! Would recommend for a large group or intimate occasion.
Visiting my mother-in-law and we just ate dinner here tonight for the first time. Delicious! I 100% recommend y'all stop by and try this place out. Very well decorated, our server was great, and the food was solid. We had: French onion soup: solid traditional soup. Loved every spoonful. grilled oysters: the sauce is amazing. The only thing I would have liked to see is to char them a little longer. But the sauce! Brussel sprouts: very flaky with just a touch of sweet. We wanted to lick the bowl it was so good. pork chop: my son had the pork chop. Lasted about 2min on his plate. seafood pasta: my daughter loved this dish. The chef pivoted for my daughter by replacing the sauce with a garlic olive oil sauce. She ate all of it. tenderloin: nice cut of meat and well cooked. The vegetables and fingerling potatoes were a great compliment. We will be back!
We had a great time and an amazing meal. We tried a few of their small plates and gumbo. We also shared the pork chops they were tender and the glaze was awesome. Our server was so nice and attentive. A must for date night. A+++
Muy bueno
This place never misses. From brunch to dinner or special dining experiences they are perfect each and every time. I’ve never had a bad experience or dealt with unfriendly staff. The food is always perfect even when I’ve placed to-go orders. The atmosphere is so cute. It’s perfect for a date night, girls get together or even business lunch. I do miss some of the items on the old menu such as the lobster and waffles which is what got me to start coming here however I’ll still continue to come as the other menu items and new items are still delectable. I wish I could give this place a higher rating and will continue to be a happy patron here.
Lovely little cafe with progressive menu items with a touch of flare. Spring salad enhanced with steak did not disappoint nor did the pulled pork “Reuben-like” sandwich in flattened French bread. Sarah was most pleasant.
Traveling back from New Orleans we had a GREAT Brunch here. Live music, good crowd, and they are one of the few places that you can make reservations using the "Open Table" app; this was a great convenience for us during our trip and travels. David was our waiter and he was superb. He paid constant detail to all things we ordered. Everyone loved the gumbo, poached eggs, crab cakes, tea, coffee, and everything else we ordered. I was honestly surprised to find such a nice quaint place while traveling to the area that had great food, great service, and the ability to use an app for extra convenience. Definitely a good stop and always good to make a reservation since it stayed busy.
They need a new bartender. First drink tasted like cucumbers soaked in vinegar with pepper, second drink wasn't even close to a chocolate martini. Idk what it was, just Makers with an Olive that cost $16. The food was fresh but not as tasteful as I expected. The hostess and server was the best part of checking this restaurant out. My bestie definitely must have had covid tongue because it wasn't as good as she raved.
The Brussels sprouts appetizer is delicious and huge! It will easily feed 2-4 people or work as a vegetarian entree. The smoked turkey club was tasty, but dry. Get it with mayo or some other sauce. The fries were good and crunchy, just how I like them. The sushi balls (daily appetizer special) had a lot of rice and were too starchy for my taste, but were good otherwise.
What a great meal. The entré was duck with spaetzle and tomato jam. The sauces were excellent. The brussels were fried, and had a sweet molasses style glaze. The shrimp and gnocchi was simply excellent. The peanut butter cake topped it off. We got the cake togo because we were so full after dinner. The cake was excellent!!
Beausoleil Coastal Cuisine 7731 Jefferson Hwy, Baton Rouge, LA 70809 I checked out @beausoleilcoastal for Restaurant Week and wow! Everything hit the mark! From the food to the service to the cozy vibe, it was all chef's kiss. Baton Rouge fam, show some love to your local spots! They're worth it! Restaurant Week Menu 1. Truffle Fried Oysters Fried oysters tossed in truffle salt and parmesan cheese - served with truffle vinaigrette. 2. Amberjack Seared Amberjack served over creamy risotto and broccolini. 3. Pot de Crème. (Chocolate Mousee) #tonylameats #foodislife #foodie #foodismedicine #batonrougela #coastalfood #southernfood #seafood #French #cajun #creole #restaurantweekbr #beausoleilcoastal
The ambiance here is sleek, sophisticated, and low-key—perfect for a more intimate dining experience. We visited on a Saturday and were surprised at how quiet it was, which worked in our favor since we reserved a private dining area for a retirement party. The setup was perfect, and the staff and our server were incredibly attentive, helpful, and thoughtful throughout the evening. For drinks, we ordered a variety which included espresso martini, lemon drop martini, champagne margarita (table favorite) and blackberry bourbon lemonade. I don’t think you can go wrong on any of the drinks offered. For appetizers, we tried the raw oysters, blue crab claws, tuna tataki, and brussels sprouts. The standouts were definitely the tuna and brussels sprouts—both were outstanding! Even my daughter, who usually avoids raw fish, went back for seconds on the tuna. For entrees, we ordered the brown butter drum, crawfish Mac & cheese, and the tenderloin. The drum was okay—nothing particularly memorable. The crawfish Mac & cheese was amazing-creamy and cheesey! The portion is very generous and can be shared. Unfortunately, my fiancé had to send his tenderloin back as it was overcooked, which was a bit disappointing. While the service and starters were excellent, I found the entrees a bit underwhelming for the price. That said, I would consider coming back just for the tuna, crawfish Mac & cheese, and brussels sprouts, and perhaps to try a different main course.
Business dinner with a colleague seated outside during excellent weather, great atmosphere. Service was ok, not bad but nothing exceptional for a higher end restaurant as the waiter seemed a bit young and inexperienced. I deducted two stars for the food because it was not exceptional, the fried oysters were overly salty and there were bits of oyster shells fried into the cornbread that made me almost chipped my tooth. If it was just one random piece I would not have minded but there were multiple pieces of shell. The beet and arugula salad was good, topped with grilled shrimp. The tiramisu was presented well but the taste left much to be desired as it tasted more like cheesecake.
We made a reservation for Beausoleil during restaurant week. When we first walked in the atmosphere and established is very elegant and inviting. We were seated quickly, in the back dining room. I ordered the Mississippi Mule, and it was superb. We also ordered ice water and a Coke. The wait was longer than usual for the dishes, and one table took their food to go because they also had a long wait. Good thing, we weren’t in a rush! For our appetizer, we indulged in the Truffle Oil oysters, they came out hot and were good. We also ordered the gumbo pot pie which was excellent, crab claws as appetizers, the seared tuna with crispy rice, and shrimp seafood pasta as our mains. The seafood pasta was lackluster! It had one piece of shrimp and maybe less than a palm size amount of pasta. It was not a hit for the $20 value. The crab claws were chewy, but edible. The best dish was the gumbo pot pie which was awesome with the pastry crust baked on top. We wanted to order the cheesecake which was also offered for on the restaurant week menu, but was told that it wasn’t ready for evening service. Why have it listed on the menu? We settled for the chocolate mousse and bread pudding. Bread pudding was amazing and chocolate mousse was good. We will have to give Beausoleil another try. It wasn’t terrible, but it had some inconsistencies that need attention.
One of our favorite restaurants in town and highly recommend but we had a less than stellar up and down experience at our latest visit. Upside is we had Philippe as our waiter - maybe the best and most professional waiter in Baton Rouge. Cocktails were on point. Meal was a little hit or miss. I had the market fish - I chose the Amberjack. The fish was cooked to perfection but the portion was meager. The risotto was a serious miss - very stiff, dry and lukewarm with little flavor. The charred broccolini was done very well. Our other plate was the scallops which were good but again the portions were a disappointment. We got the lemon blueberry cake which came with a raspberry drizzle (neither of us care for raspberry) which was not mentioned on the menu. This visit did not live up to the cost which was considerable given the portions. We will be back to try again - every restaurant has a off day sometimes but I hope this isn’t a trend.
Nice little place. Went for brunch and had a delicious crawfish omelet. It was very good.
Although the food we had was tasty, it was extremely overpriced. The boudin features a potent sauce that dominated the flavour of the dish, but the artichoke and eggplant were delicious. For the main, we had the grilled sea bass which was pretty good and had a nice balance of flavour. We indulged in some dessert, which was good but very heavy. The mousse was a tad disappointing though as was 90%+ plain cream. We paired the meal with some white wine, which was nice. One trend that featured across all dishes - the food was very salty. If this was dialled back a bit, it would have been a lot better. Service was friendly, and the outdoor seating cozy with heat lamps.
It’s a nicely decorated restaurant. Right now, the shrimp and grits are not on the menu. Sweet potato waffle and chicken was okay. If you are hungry, order another side to go with it to satisfy your hunger. The debris Benedict was okay as well. It was quite salty and surprisingly small. It comes with two and a half pieces of asparagus with it. The Brussels sprouts were different and unique from what the other restaurants offer. It was worth trying. I can see where others are disgruntled about the portions being small for the price. Each entree was around 21 dollars. Just a heads up- Two entrees and app cost around sixty. They are during a transition time right now. They have a different chef in charge now. The service is great! Our waiter was such a refreshing experience! Rarery for sure and hopefully they can keep him around for the long haul.
Great service! Nice, quaint restaurant with upscale bar feel. Ordered the Brussels app. Charred leaves, minimal goat cheese. Still good! The lobster mac and cheese was very good, although we could not see the lobster nor taste it. The mac and cheese had a good smokey flavor and was served warm. French onion soup was served warm, we are use to a full bowl with cheese oozing over the serving bowl. This bowl should have been filled and served hotter. The crab meat roll states it is served warm, it was served cold. Tasted fine, but ordered a warm dish so was expecting a warm dish. The ribeye was hard to cut, tougher than expected. There was a lot of fat, not the kind that melts in your mouth- the kind that you chew until you have to spit it out in your napkin. For the price, I absolutely expect a good cut of meat. The roasted vegetables were wonderful. The beet salad was tasty, I personally would order it as a side and not an entree. Nice seating options, low light ambiance for dinner. Plenty of parking. Service was great, wry attentive. We won’t be back, as the price for the quality of food just didn’t match up.
The mushroom soup was delicious, heavy on spice. Love the friendliness of the server, excellent atmosphere. However, they are pricey. $16 for mushroom soup, which consisted of spiced soup broth and a few squares of tofu, no mushrooms or other hearty ingredients. Had to add rice to make it more filling. I believe I would come back, just with deeper pockets. They have much better foods.
Ordered the Tuna Tataki, Seacuterie Board, Volcano roll, Espresso Braised Short Rib Roulade, and Lobster Alaskan King Crab Ravioli The volcano roll was a disappointment. There was too much rice and the rice was undercooked and hard. Espresso braised short rib was lacking. Honestly it tasted like an average pot roast. The Lobster and crab ravioli was ok, you couldn't taste much seafood and all you could taste was the cheese they sprinkled on top. Tuna Tataki was a nice change from your traditional sushi restaurants, loved the flavor combinations. Seacuterie Board was excellent, probably our favorite dish. Honestly the starter dishes were better than the main entrées. Nice atmosphere but wouldn't go back. The food quality just doesn't measure up to the price they charge.
I took my wife here for dinner last week. The Crispy Brussel Sprouts were hard and sort of dry. My wife had the Hickory Salmon, she actually like the salmon, but the side was bland. I ordered the Crawfish Mac & Cheese (NEVER AGAIN). I was giving Velveeta shells and cheese w/o any flavor! The cheese was watery and the taste was BLAND! I also ordered the Provencal Chicken, it was just blah....The service was exceptional, but they don't cook!
Thank goodness we didn't arrive hungry as appetizers took an hour to come out. Drinks took 30 minutes before that. Service and pacing was so off the entire time. The nail in the coffin was when everyone's mains arrived except one which took several more minutes to be served. The food is excellent but like every restaurant now, service is lacking.
For the price.... I'm sorry, but this place is expensive for no reason. When the salad is better than the main course, we have a problem. The portion size for the seafood pasta was way too small even for $30+. BYOS (Bring Your Own Salt) is the acronym I would use to describe the food. While the service was okay, I can't say too much about it since I ordered take out, and simply picked up my food. No "good" restaurant would forget to add salt to the pasta water, the sauce, or the seafood. Smh very disappointed.
Came in for a late lunch. Pj was our server and very nice. Ordered the fried green beans which were really good. Also got the burger and crab stuffer shrimp appetizer. Burger was okay, not great. The shrimp and crab stuffing were good but the rice with it was so spicy you could hardly eat.
We arrived around 630pm with a half full restraint. 3 hostises 10 servers. 10 mins for our drink order. 10 min for the drinks to arrive. We ordered 3 small plates when the drinks arrived. By 745 our food was still not out. We had to get our order to go because we had to be somewhere for 8pm. This is not a typical experience at Besusoleil. I think they are having staffing issues and training new staff. The table picture is after we had been seated for an hour.
I made the really poor decision of getting their sushi. It is far from fresh, the shrimp tempura from the volcano roll was cold so I’m pretty sure it came from a freezer. The raw tuna was chewy. I had a version of an espresso martini which was delicious. Fries were also good. Ironically I would not recommend their seafood.
We had a terrible experience here for dinner! First of all, there were several fruit flies all around the bar and dining area, no matter what section you were in. We ordered the seafood tower and chargrilled oysters and were very disappointed. The seafood tower was extremely underwhelming and not worth the $165 price. The chargrilled oysters were severely overcooked and dry as a bone. You can see in the photo only one oyster had any juice and the rest were DRY and tiny. We came because it was highly recommended but left hungry and disappointed. Only redeeming quality was that our waiter and bartender was great.
Dissapointing. We did a road trip a year ago and stopped at this restaurant and it was awsome. This year we were passing by and decided to repeat but did not work. We order a hamburger - it was ok -, a cuban sanwidch it was so salty to almost the point of unedible. some sprouts that were over condimented and beware an order of bisquits gets you 'one' bisquit. Service was ok but 'pretentious' one of those attitudes where their reccomendations are the best and they make you feel bad if you dont take them. We learned they changed menu and ownership or chef. We could clearly tell. Unfortunately we will stop somewhere else in Baton Rouge next time.
Went at 1pm on a Saturday. The food was incredibly underwhelming. The idea was there, but the quality was just middling. The cocktails were spot on though. The service was not great, we were on the tail end of a busy service, but we didn't get the attention during the meal and it took a while to get checks when it was pretty empty inside. It's a beautiful place with good spacing. I would not go back, there are plenty better in baton rouge.
I attended a company Christmas party here and was disappointed. I found a piece of plastic in my fried oyster appetizer, though the manager promptly apologized and brought me a replacement. Unfortunately, the rest of the meal didn’t improve. The strawberry salad looked unappetizing, and no one at our table ate it. The dinner entrée was mediocre at best. This was my second visit, and both experiences have been underwhelming. I expected much better for the price.
Decided to dine here for the first time with our family. Everything was nice and the Brussel sprouts were excellent. We ordered our meals and the kids meal came out first, after an half hour we still hadn’t received out order. We asked our waitress when our order would be out and she stated that our order had been dropped and they were preparing a new order. We waited another 20 minutes and told our waitress to just box it up because our kids ages 5 and 2 were finished eating and restless and there was no way we could enjoy our meal. When we arrived home and opened our meal the stake and eggs I ordered was charged as if they scraped the burnt grill and tossed it In the To go box. Disgusting I had to throw it away. I have pictures to prove it. Terrible dining experience.
I ordered two Yoruba Red Snapper meals to go, and I feel completely ripped off. The menu promised jollof rice, suya, and plantain chips, but neither order had any suya or plantain. The rice was bland, half-cooked, and nothing like proper jollof rice. The fish, if that was supposed to be red snapper, tasted completely off and was unrecognizable. For $39 per meal, this was beyond disappointing, especially since I paid double. I expected much better, even for takeout. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.
Food was absolutely horrible. I cannot believe how delicious this place used to be and now terrible. How can they mess up their amazing French onion soup…even it was terrible and cold. Sorry, but it was my husband‘s birthday and had the worst mussels ever! He even got sick! Never again will we visit here. Limited menu and the poor waitress was new. I felt terrible for her.
I was really excited to try the brunch from Beausoleil after hearing so much about it. However, I was very disappointed with my order. I got the Chicken and French Toast, and the chicken was nasty. It wasn't well seasoned, the crust was bland, and the actual texture of the meat wasn't very good either. The meat was undercooked and tough to an inedible level. My toast was also very small and mushy. It was so small it looked like someone already had some. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this dish to anyone.
My wife and I have been going to Beausoleil for several years. The food has always been excellent as well as the atmosphere and service. Yesterday we had reservations and when we were seated we noticed the menu had completely changed. It has changed 180 degrees for the worse. The seafood tower is not even a menu option anymore. We decided to try it out, however, and ordered the oysters for an appetizer. They were lukewarm and fishy, ultimately we left without trying any of the new offerings. I’m not sure if they have had a change in chef or management but whatever the issue is, I hope they take action soon because it was such a nice place to eat.
I had brunch there and the biscuit was cold and dry. It seemed like it was at least a day or two old. The scrambled eggs and sausage were overcooked. Breakfast at a fast food restaurant would have been better and probably 1/3 of the price. The server was great even though the food was awful.
I came to here on a Sunday after church for brunch. I can honestly say I’ve never had food so bad in my life. I ordered gumbo, it came out cold and the rice was so gummy they literally just put a gummy ball in the bowl. I also ordered a Cesar salad and it had wilted pink lettuce in it. The waitress brought the manager to the table and I told him to just look at the food. I don’t even understand how they even thought the food was presentable. The service was okay…? The team seemed extremely confused and out of it. They were not rude but could use more coaching on professionalism. Overall, I think this restaurant is focusing more on appearance and ambience rather than food.
