Thank you to O'neal's for hosting our 50 year reunion Lee and Sterling! Our waitress was Tia she was amazing! Make sure to sit in her section for great service! Food and drinks were very good also!
Great atmosphere, definitely a place I could go to everyday the food is good and priced fair. Highly recommend going there whenever you are in town!!
O’Neal’s on the Water has become one of the area’s most popular restaurants/bars. The buffalo shrimp, my favorite, is the best around! Not only is the food, service & atmosphere top notch, but it is a host site for many different events - live music, benefits for locals in need, charity events like collection of toys at Christmas, cook-offs and more! Bob O’Neal is very involved & present, giving back to the community in numerous ways! If ever in the area be sure and stop in!
Server was nice and quick to bring us our drinks. Food is good and the price is right considering we didn’t have to cook or clean : ) Great local live music….
Stopped in for dinner and a drink after a long day of traveling. I sat at the bar and was served by a very bubbly and friendly woman named Jenn. She even helped me when it came to ordering dinner. There was live music the whole time I was there. All in All I will definitely be going back!
Awesome view, the management is friendly. They have live entertainment and it is kid friendly. Great place to stop in for a cold beverage on a hot day out on the boat.
Did someone say Bloodmary?!?! Whether you are going for a drink or dinner. This is a great hidden gem. Stop by on steak night, which includes the salad bar. They have a big bar on the back patio with live bands. This place is awesome during crawfish season!! Try the Buffalo shrimp, too! Can't drive home, then stay at the new hotel they just built next door!
O’Neals on the Water is a very family oriented. The food is delicious, especially the shrimp tacos. We have moved from Baytown, but whenever we go to or thru Baytown, we stop in to visit all our friends and have a great meal! Do not hesitate to stop in for a meal and a good time!!
Great place with good food and friendly staff. When the weather is nice, the patio is the place to be!
This bar is one of my two safe spaces, the other being Little Oneals. Never any drama. Get the grilled oysters they are always fresh.
Coming here is not just about the food and drinks. It’s about how every time you come here you feel at home and surrounded by family. I highly recommend coming and yes enjoying the wonderful food and drinks but to come and make friends and enjoy the family like environment
Had the greatest experience last night. The bartender Jennifer is wonderful! Always on top of her service and has the best sense of humor..not to mention she makes a great drink. The crab and shrimp didn’t disappoint either! Our new date night location for sure!
The spaghetti and meatballs are delicious! The staff is always friendly and the view from the outside deck is beautiful at sunset! You have to try!
Great establishment and a Baytown community class act. Food is always great, beer is always cold, and the environment is always stellar. This place is always warm, welcoming, and inviting!
Awesome food with beautiful views on the water. The staff is always friendly, professional and attentive!! Highly recommend to everyone!!
O’Neals On The Water is easily one of my favorite spots to visit. The owner has gone above and beyond to support the community and contribute to major fundraisers. The staff is professional, friendly, and always makes us feel right at home. The food and drinks are consistently excellent, making every visit a treat. For me, it’s truly a home away from home.
In the middle of industry and Oil&Gas, who would have known that there was a gem hidden near the water… O’Neals Grill On the Water, is a beautiful location near the Texas waters of Trinity Bay, where a wide variety of menu items will be at your disposal on top of the weekly Thursday steak night, where you can enjoy a selection of hand cut USDA rated chops… The prices are very fair for the great quality of steaks you can get! During crawfish season, you can enjoy the fat and plump little water critters with all fixings you like! And that with a fantastic atmosphere and often accompanied by a live band performance!!
As a patron, I love the patio vibes and the shrimp & grits is FANTASTIC! As a musician, I would like to publicly thank Bob O’Neal and his staff for always taking great care of his artists and making us feel at home. You’d be hard-pressed to find another restaurant quite like this one along the gulf coast.
We got pizza and fish tacos. If you haven't had their Pizza you have to try it. We had amazing service and the beer was ice cold! Don't forget the beautiful view of the sunset makes even for a better dinner.
The food was great! I ordered the shrimp and catfish platter and it was delish! Services was excellent too!
I love this place. The food is great, the staff is amazing! The outside patio …best way to spend a beautiful sunny day or a nice evening. 10 out of 10 Recommend!
Great spot for happy hour sunsets and fun folks. Sit outside on the deck.
O'neals is a great place to enjoy food and drinks with talented live music and the best sunset backdrop! Bob and the staff are always on top of everything and provide top notch service. They also host many community events for great causes and veterans! We had my dad's 70th birthday party there in January and our whole family enjoyed the food and service.
My family and I love O’Neals. The food is always delicious and the staff are always super friendly. The view is also beautiful. I can’t wait for all you can eat crab legs to return. 😋
Best place by the water. Great live music and not to mention the Shrimp and Grits are outta this world!!! Super friendly staff. If I could give you 10 stars i would.
Honestly, I went for the view. I had seen mixed results regarding the food and service but ours was just fine. The food was actually pretty good. I had the 6 grilled shrimp with dirty rice and grilled asparagus. There were a few groups of people enjoying themselves and their drinks so bar service must have been good. And most importantly, I got my sunset view from the outdoor dining space!
This place is on point! The service is amazing. Always the mosey laid back and beautiful atmosphere. The best place to go and just enjoy friends and enjoy after any kinda day you had!
A little confusing to find with the road construction. But that's my only complaint. Live band was awesome, service was great food was good. Drinks are a bit on the pricey side but the food was reasonable! Out door seating for listening to the band. I was there at 7 on Wednesday and had a live band. Staff and full service bar over looking the water outside too.
The wait was a tad bit too long. We waited for about 20 minutes to be spoken to or acknowledged but eventually got some assistance. The food was great. I definitely recommend their boudin balls. The burger was great too but the boudin is my absolute favorite at this little joint. The live music was definitely a huge plus and the kind of music they were performing. I'm so glad I got to experience this place. I will absolute be coming back. * side note there was a storm coming and someone (management or owner) was very attentive and proactive. I loved how quickly they were to zip up their outside walls to protect us from getting wet and how friendly they were. Great service all-around. Good job all of you.
We had the bacon wrapped shrimp on boudin for an appetizer and it was delicious. Hubby had grilled shrimp tacos and rice. I had the fried fish and shrimp. Neither of us really cared for the rice or cole slaw but everything else was pretty good. Had a couple cocktails decent prices and mixed just right. Loved the location and our waitress was super sweet and attentive. We will definitely be back.
Some of the best damn food in Texas! Love the atmosphere and the amazing views of the water. Great place for a night out whether it’s a quiet night on the water, a fun night of music, or watching the big game. Add to that the numerous charitable contributions they participate in with their communities and you have one of the fabric of what any business strives to be. To Bobby and his many great employees, thank you for doing what you do and never ever change.
I’ll be quick to say this — Bob O’Neal is a God-fearing, family-first, hard-working, Veteran-supporting, all-around incredible man! I’ve known him for many years, and not once has he missed the chance to make me feel welcome and appreciated every time I step into one of his restaurants. Oneal’s On the Water has it all — breathtaking views, awesome live music, friendly staff, and food that will have you coming back for more. It’s a true family-friendly spot where all walks of life feel at home, and once you’ve been there, you’ll understand exactly why it’s so loved and supported by its guests. Even though I no longer live in Texas, it’s still my go-to recommendation whenever someone asks where to eat. If you want a place that feels like home and delivers an unforgettable experience, Oneal’s is it.
We always enjoy our time at O’Neals. Between the delicious food, beautiful views, amazing musical entertainment and good service, we enjoy every visit. The owner, Bob is a selfless man. He’s is always giving back to the community whether it is giving out bikes during Christmas, participating in auctions at local rodeos and cook-offs, and giving back to our Veterans.
The food was amazing!! Bacon wrapped shrimp were huge. I got the shrimp & catfish combo. The amount was way more than I could eat. Waitress was friendly & great. Can’t wait to try a new dish on my return visit.
Good food. We had the shrimp and grits as recommended by our waitress and we ate it like it was the Last Supper. It didn't disappoint. Shared that with hubby and we almost fought over the last bite. I plan to order that again! The parmesan garlic wings were good. I happened to have a table where the AC condensation dripped, but in this heat and humidity that's unavoidable. Great view of the big boats passing by. Was glad they had live music, but it was too loud for conversation and we arrived too early in the evening so the sun was still hot. Nice breeze and strong fans outside though.
My wife and I were in the area on business and staying at the hotel next door. We noticed the good reviews and decided to give this place a try last night and we’re so glad we did! The atmosphere was fantastic, and the wait staff was excellent. I believe our server’s name was Anna, and she was awesome. The food was amazing as well; I was expecting more of a bar-style menu, but it turned out to be some of the best shrimp I’ve ever had, incredibly fresh I highly recommend checking this spot out if you’re in the area. It’s by far the coolest place on the water, and the live music made for a perfect night.
A great place to gather for a catfish platter lunch with friends or family on a Saturday in February 2025. We happened to visit here for lunch at Bayland Marina, after our Houston Area Trails and more meetup to experience the local hiking trails, at the Goose Creek for a 10 mile trail hike today. I ordered the 2 Filet Catfish platter. Iced tea. Chips and Salsa and Spicy Fried Pickles for $47.50
Nice place. Food is very good. Service is good. Bus help needs improvement, table was not really clean and overall dirty feeling to the place. Location is wonderful, inside and outside choices....views of the bridge are great. Sunset was fantastic.
Not another place in town like this. I especially appreciate the live music. Everything I’ve ever ordered on the menu tastes pretty darn good. I highly recommend. It should also be mentioned that the head of the place is a respected community leader that cares about his employees, his guests, and the quality of the service. Excellent!
We enjoyed the outside area! The food was gooood I had the spaghetti and meatballs and my Husband had the stuffed shrimp! Ice cold beer and friendly staff as well! You Have to try it!

The place was packed so service did suffer, but the food was excellent and the band was exceptional! Never heard a harmonica live and it was awesome!
Nice place close to the water. Ombience has a few options: After work crowd, dinner crowd and couples too. Open air patio seating with band on weekends. There are a few pool tables. Full liquor bar but no frozen drinks or Mojito. Decent menu options with good variety of something for most. They have a kids menu but I didnt see any kids at 5pm on a Friday. Plenty of singles and couples. Food and drinks are fair price. They have daily specials for meals. Finally found a place that has fried mushrooms using a WHOLE mushroom! Guy next to us had a good looking steak, large baker and fried okra that he said was delicious. They have a nice looking salad bar too. Staff are plentiful and nice. They look happy to be there...which says allot about a place for me. I beleive we'll make this place a regular
Decent food with a beautiful view. If a band will be playing and you’re seated outside, you may have to scream at your server when telling them your order 😅 Overall, fun vibes
Everyone has an opinion on what's good and what is not, so here's mine. The food was pretty good, the service was lacking because they were shorthanded and our waitress was running everywhere. It was definitely not her fault. A couple of things we asked for weren't available. Go give it a try. You may have a different result.
Nice people, nice sports bar, cozy and entertaining. The sunset view is awesome. $41 gets you some shrimp tacos, bacon wrapped shrimp on boudin and 2 beers. Great value! Lost one star because the shrimp tacos were a bit too salty. I LOVE salt, but this was like a salty shrimp scampi taco. Maybe Lots wife was cooking today. Couldn’t finish the last taco. A fried shrimp taco would be awesome.
Catfish had a good crispy Cajun flavor. Great grilled shrimp. Sides were the dirty rice and mashed potatoes which was also delicious. Overall the plate was great. 👍🏼
This place is dripping with atmosphere from the marina, the view of Fred Hartman bridge, and the bay is a lovely setting, especially at sunset. There is a good amount of outdoor seating for those rare beautiful nights, but be prepared for mosquitos after sunset. Service was good here. The food came out quickly and hot. They have a full bar, but the margarita had a weird mix. I enjoyed the beer selections. They have daily specials which is what I had. The fried pork chops were good, and you get to pick two sides and a salad bar visit. The salad bar had a pretty good selection. They had a live band the night I was there. I enjoyed my visit and I will go back again.
Over all food was great! Large portions, we had the chicken fried steak , grilled smothered chicken...only complaint is we ordered loaded potato appetizers , they were served with our dinner and were a little over cooked. Margaritas could be better..over all it was good. Setting on the patio overlooking the water and Fred Hartman was very nice.
O'Neals on the Water is a relaxed, dive spot with one major highlight--it's right by the bay, and the outdoor seating offers a lovely view and breeze. We were greeted warmly at the entrance and shown to our table, which started things off on a good note. Our server, while not rude, didn't seem particularly enthusiastic or friendly--but it didn't impact the service too much. We started with the Garlic Parmesan Oysters. While I'm personally not an oyster fan, my husband and his friend really enjoyed them. For mains, we ordered the Snow Crab Cluster, the Shrimp Platter, and the Shrimp & Catfish Combo. All of the seafood was fresh and flavorful. I'd recommend getting the shrimp fried--the grilled version was a bit too salty for my taste, though my husband liked them just fine. Each entree came with two sides and hushpuppies, which I was excited about--until I realized they only give you two, and they were a bit hard, overly salty, and not as satisfying as I'd hoped. Thankfully, I chose Fried Okra and Mashed Potatoes with Gravy as my sides--both were delicious! The okra was crispy and generously portioned, and the mashed potatoes were definitely the star: creamy, flavorful, and total comfort food. I also love that they offer daily specials and events, so if you're planning a visit, definitely check out their calendar. Overall, it's a great spot to kick back with friends, enjoy some fresh seafood, and soak in the bayfront atmosphere.
Overall experience here on a Saturday night was okay. There was a sign upfront saying to seat yourself, so we did. We waited around at an inside booth for 10 minutes, and despite there being employees around everywhere and going to tables next to us, no one approached us. We finally got the attention of someone who was able to get us help eventually. Service was then relatively slow, especially for them not being too busy. We were only checked on once or twice. Food was alright. I wasn't super impressed by anything. The fried pickles were good, and so was the bacon wrapped shrimp on boudin. I would still recommend trying this place out, I just left a bit disappointed.

The only reason I'm giving this place a 3 star because the waitress that was waiting on us was helpful at first then it was like she clocked out but was so obviously there , me and my husband asked for are bill and she walked straight over to the bar thinking we where going to be leaving soon.......all of a sudden I look behind me and one of the tables in back of us there sit are waitress!?? That's what I mean checked out... food was good and atmosphere was pretty cool to .
First Visit Server was nice and friendly, but service was slow and food inconsistent in delivery and temperature. The Garlic Parmesan Oysters were very good..... $19.00 (2) Catfish platter with 2 sides was very good.......... $23.00 Crawfish was ok needed more seasoning, and they were not hot in temperature Hushpuppies were not fresh Onion rings were cooked fresh from frozen (have had better)
I don’t know of a better way to get this message to management than to submit a review. We’ve been coming here for 10+ years. It’s a great location with a laid-back vibe. But lately the service has been terrible. And it’s not because the servers are not working their butts off… there never seem to be enough servers. It has been a repeated problem the last several times we’ve been by, no matter what day of the week. That’s a management issue. Also, we got the crawfish and it was under seasoned. It was boiled well, but overall tasted pretty bland.
I was expecting something totally different. This is more like a bar that serves good bar food, not what i was looking for i was thinking a resturant that could compete with monument inn, THIS IS NOT. I ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp with boudin wasn't bad, I have had better i have had worse. My wife ordered catfish and shrimp her catfish tasted like a mud cat over powering fishy taste. I also ordered a side of fries they came out cold and rubbery. Now the only thing they matched with monument inn was the price, so if you are looking for a bar that has expensive bar food this is the place for you.
It’s a Wednesday evening/night and I had a terrible experience. We get seated and no one comes to the table. 2 of us were able to go to the bathroom and back one by one and still had no service. Took forever for someone to come then finally someone does. We give all of our orders at once since we had a while to review the menu. Once the food comes, I was missing a sauce I ordered so I was looking around for her…Nowhere to be found. Finally after waiting, I go to the bar to order a drink and the sauce that I never got. Paid my tab for the drink at the bar and got to my meal. Food was fine, then I got the bill and handed her my card. She takes my card and a few minutes later comes back and puts it on the table with the receipt and says thank you. She didn’t give us a pen so I’m confused thinking maybe we didn’t need to sign. We are walking out the door and she comes yelling after us saying we didn’t pay. I told her I gave her my card…SHE NEVER RAN IT! She says “I remember saying thank you but I don’t know what happened, it’s still open on the computer.” She grabbed the card and receipt but never actually used it to pay the tab. So we go back in for her to run it and we left again. This was my first time in here and it was such a let down because I just moved to the area and wanted to like this place so bad since it’s on the water and seemed like a great vibe.
The service was good. The food was bad. $5 for 5 day old hush puppies. Most of the food is frozen-cooked/reheated. This place is not worth the prices. I can't believe it is highly rated at all. Plain and simple, the food was bad for lunch. I was embarrassed to take my family there.
Okay Very First visit...Fried Catfish was warm, fried okra was Cold and Mashed potatoes were also cold...wifes Baked potatoe was also cold...that sux for a 79 dollar bill altogether....Waiter was cool, but apparently doesnt realize he talks excessively and forgets stuff....still tipped him because he is young and is learning...however he forgot to put in my wifes Dessert order and we waited for nothing for almost 20 minutes after we finished our meal..he forgot to put Tajin on my wifes drink and Salt on my beer...however drinks were good....the only great thing about our first experience was the environment...check out the sunset....Thats the only reason they got 2 Stars..I was considering 1......will try them once more to see if I just gotta a bad night and bad service because I heard good things about this spot, so I wanna give it a second shot.
Everything was cold and our wings were rotten, quite literally. Our waitress was very sweet and attentive but I don’t understand all the good reviews. Everything was either cold or disgusting.
The staff here is very hostile and very racist. I’m sure they spit in my food. I would definitely not go here. These white supremacists cannot be trusted and have absolutely no integrity.

Oneals was located in the same parking lot as our hotel. As soon as we walked in we noticed the restaurant was out dated and apparently so was the air conditioning because it was very hot and stuff…
a friend and I visited this establishment on Saturday 02/24/2024 because w wanted to have a seafood dinner . We sat ourselves, and our waitress took our drink order. she returned with our drinks in…
The location is nice to look at the water, but trust me when I say there are plenty of places to do that and get quality food and service. We sat at a table inside and it was extremely sticky. Sad part is, it was as clean as it could be seeing that the seal on the table was gone. It was like someone smeared syrup all over it. The waitress was dry and extremely slow and they were not that busy. When we told her we had not been there before and not ready to order, she said ok and walked off. Most would give advice or at least a brief of what seems to be popular. My sister asked for a drink menu and she let her know they had a full bar. But when she ordered her drink the waitress came back saying they were out. My sister went to the bar and they were able to make it no problem. The couple behind us was having the same experience. Poor service and even had hair in their food. Like us, they said it was their first time and last! We had ordered a cheese pizza for the toddler with us when we got our drinks and were still taking time to review the menu. We didn’t order due to the neighbors having hair, slow service, prices being high, and clearly this place was over rated!
Disappointing. We walked in and was told there was no table available at least for an hour, due to the tornado that hit and everyone that were outdoors went inside. And we waited for almost 10 minutes for anyone to tell us anything, since we saw 2 groups of people leave, one couple even told us, "oh we just opened a table for you". No one came. I had to approach a tall Hispanic guy and he looked irritated. He said they are backed up in the kitchen. In my mind, if you were already serving those people that were outside and they all went inside, how are you backed up in order? Kitchen destroyed? Anyways, i had to ask him if we should just leave. And he said yes, since they wont be able to serve us. No apologies. Just plain disrespectful human being. multiple employees saw us at the front and not one even approached us and ask us anything. Oh, and there was a couple who had reservation for that night, all the front lady told them that "Oh, its gonna be an hour long wait since everyone came in from the outdoor deck". Suggestion for you whoever owns this place. TRAIN YOUR EMPLOYEES HOW TO BE COURTEOUS AND HAVE MANNERS. YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE FAILED BIG TIME. Never coming back to this place...
