It was our first time here. It was a great experience. The service and food was excellent. We ordered the ribeye and filet mignon with garlic buttered prawns and seasonal greens. I like my steak med rare so I didn't have to leave it on the stone for more than 20 secs. I was told the stone is about 400 c / 750 f. I dipped my steak into my garlic butter from my shrimp, oh so good. I also liked the seasonal greens, sauteed perfectly not over cooked. We shared the sticky toffee pudding, it was very nice.
We had a fantastic experience at this place, which we discovered through reviews while visiting from Boston. The cod dish was the best we've ever tasted! The service, ambiance, and cocktails were all outstanding. This is definitely a solid pick!
Lovely food and great friendly and attentive staff. Jack, my server was courteous and professional. I had the steak from the set menu and it was delicious. It came on a hot stone , which was perfect for me as I like it rare. And proper chips! The longer you leave it the more cooked it becomes. On the whole, lovely food and service.
The meat and food in here was absolutely good. I booked a table for Christmas dinner and the steak we had was cooked to right temperature. The Turkey was lovely and it was a cosy wintery Christmasy atmosphere. To top it off, the snowman dessert was so sweet and the staff were nice to talk to. Would go back again. 👍🏻
Attended a cocktail making class here as part of a hen do and the staff were great. We each got to pick two cocktails to make and they were delicious. Staff were supper friendly and just made the expereince better. We had some grazing platters in between all of the cocktail making and everything was delicious, just the right about of food to make sure we didn't sober up too much. Would highly reccomend.
Fantastic venue for something different for meat lovers. Staff are very welcoming. Very accessible to wheelchair users. Good quality food in big portions. Cooking your own steak on a stone is a novelty too! Varied drinks menu with some 0% offerings in beer, gin, rum and cocktails.
Fabulous service. I can’t remember our servers name (lovely girl originally from London) but she was lovely and super helpful. Food was fantastic. Would definitely return when we next visit Belfast
Great atmosphere, lively. You can smell the steak on a stone as you walk in . We had the 3 bites options for starters. Broccoli wings, goats cheese balls and peppers . 8/10 , I'd like a bit of spice in the batter . We both had the baked cod with orzo - 10/10 9 year old had the kids steak on the stone with chips , very good , chips 10/10. Good selection of beers although had no ipa available. Good selection of spirits. Sticky toffee pud was sublime 10/10 Will go again
Superb food at a reasonable price. We didn't make a reservation, but our hosts offered us a table without any fuss. The staff were all very friendly and professional and made us feel at home. As a starter, I ordered the mussels in garlic sauce. I was expecting around 5 0r 6 mussles in a small dish. Instead, I received half the Atlantic Ocean! It has to be said that the portions here are very generous. For my main, I had the beef Sunday roast. It was delicious and cooked to perfection. Hats off to the chefs. My two colleagues ordered the steak on a stone slab. They were both very pleased with their meals. The drinks were expensive, though, costing around £6 for a beer. However, they did their own draught beer, which was very nice. The restaurant is located in the centre of Belfast, so finding a parking spot may be both difficult and pricy.
Wow what a dinner! We've booked a table before visiting. Very busy restaurant - above all on a friday evening. I read so many reviews about the food before visiting and they're really true - until now it's been the best steak I've ever eaten! Friendly and fast service, good drinks and delicious food. We will come back for sure!
Called in for a quick bite at lunch and had their festive sandwich. This place does awesome food and the staff are amazing!
A great experience, right from the welcome at the door. We did not have a reservation, but fortunately, we got a table. I went for the 35-day salt aged q2oz sirloin, cooked on stone. The food was really enjoyable, and paired well with a lovely Rioja. Service was great, attentive, and super friendly. Good value for the two of us. Try it out!!
An excellent choice for steak The soup and the squid as starter were tasty and full of flavor. The quality of the meat is excellent. The steak is brought to the table seared on hot stone. The service was very good by John and team. Highly Recommend
Stix & Stones - always fantastic, best steak in Northern Ireland! 6 stars -Jessica's service was 110%! Me & friends come often, we'll always return!
4 Apr. The steaks are "Bloody marvellous" with a variety of sauces and a decent choice of side dishes. We ordered 2, 8oz sirloins.🥩 One on the block the other cooked to perfection by the chefs. All washed down with a nice red wine.🍷 It was all very very nice. For a pudding we shared a sticky toffee with ice cream.🍦 Typically, the food is so good the pictures are after we started eating 😋 If it's been ageing for 35 days its got to get scoffed ASAP. 😋😋😋
This is a MUST for dinner in Belfast!! If you like steak, definitely try steak on the stone - the steak is a thick cut. We cut the steak into thinner pieces and placed them back on the hot stone to cook further. It was so fun and delicious. We ordered the 3 course. The mussels appetizer was delicious, my husband got the wings. And the sticky toffee pudding, oof let’s just say it was one of the best desserts I’ve ever had! Just an FYI, the server asked us what sauce we wanted. We both ordered sauce not realizing it was at an additional cost. It would have been nice to know it wasn’t included but not a huge deal.
Brilliant Meal! Food is excellent and all the staff were very welcoming and very friendly. Would love to visit again. Love the concept of cooking the steak yourself, our children loved this experience.
The most unreal meal I’ve had in Belfast, Strangford Lough mussels to start: They tasted so fresh and the sourdough that accompanied them has this lovely char to it and was perfect for soaking up that delish cream sauce… 35 day aged steak as main: I really enjoyed cooking it on the stone and it was so flavoursome and tender, I could have drank the pepper sauce and the chips had a lovely crunch but still fluffy… Baked Alaska for dessert: I barely had any room but I had to try this as I’ve never had before, I’m so glad I did as it was top notch… When solo dine I usually feel uncomfortable but throughout I was made to feel so welcome, Just an all round stunning dinning experience and with a couple of glasses throughout I left feeling fantastic… Special shout-out to my server Michelle, She was pleasant and so accommodating when I requested each course to be spaced out. Will defo be back again !!!
We started off here for a 40th birthday at the cocktail master class. This was a brilliant experience and something abit different for a change. The staff were so attentive and friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Big shout out to Jennifer the master at cocktails and Patrick. Thank you so much for giving us a great day. We will definitely be back.
This steak is easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Served on a hot stone, it was sizzling and captivating. The seasoning was absolutely spot on, and the waiter was impressive and very helpful. I had a stunning experience at Stix Stone Center. This was truly a remarkable dining experience for me and friend.
Great food, nice staff, amazing atmosphere
This was great from start to finish. We had the 12 Oz sirloin and the 8 Oz rump steak which came out on a hot stone which allowed us to cook them perfectly to our liking. The pepper sauce was one of the best I have had, a great mixture of spicy and rich. We had the skin on fries as sides and also the surf and turf and the portion sizes were generous. You could share fries if you weren't very hungry. Even the desserts were delicious and great portion sizes. The French Martina was also delicious. The sticky toffee pudding came in a lake of warm caramel sauce. It's rare you can go to a restaurant and have everything hit high notes. The atmosphere was great as well, the restaurant comfortably warm and the service efficient. I will definitely be back here again.
Excellent food in a lovely atmosphere and location. Service was very friendly and helpful, if slightly over-stretched.
We got the steak that you cook on a preheated (400 degrees) stone at your table. It was delicious and so tender! It was a fun experience! For dessert we got the Eton Mess which was out of this world good!! The wait staff were all super friendly. It was a great experience overall.
Booked last minute for a table of four and had a really fantastic experience! We had a shared platter of breads for starters and 4 different steaks for our main course. The food was amazing, we ordered a few too many sides as the portions were very generous. The wine list was pretty nice and we settled on a South African suviogon blanc which was very easy to drink. I plan on checking out the cocktail list on our next visit. The staff were attentive without over doing it. We will be back! Thank you for a beautiful experience!
Lovely family meal. All ages catered for and gluten free option for my sister. Everyone had steak and cooked them on the stone except me. I had the sea bass that was beautiful. Lovely atmosphere with no rush.
Love this restaurant. First time being here and will definitely return when we’re next in Northern Ireland. Staff were lovely. Goodness unreal. Bf got a John hawk steak and it looked lush. I got sea bass and it was unreal. The cheese cake was lovely too. Highly recommend this place. Our waiter Jack was so nice and funny too
Best steak I’ve ever had! Ordered a medium rare 8oz fillet and it was cooked to perfection. The pepper sauce is a must to pair with your steak, it’s exquisite. The tiramisu, to die for. Great service as well provided by Adam who made the experience that the more memorable. The head chef, Kieran, even personally came out to thank my compliments for what was an all round fantastic meal.
What a fun experience, cooking the steak on a hot stone. All the food was delicious but the baked Alaska was my absolute favourite. Will definitely be back again.
For all my jokes and upon reflection, this place was very good! The steak was very tender, mash and cabbage were buttery and indulgent and chips (for their size) were nice and crispy! I understand that part of the appeal of this place is that you finish your steak how you like on the hot stone. But for me, paying £70 for the chateaubriand, I would’ve liked the option for the chef to have cooked it for us. I would’ve like a bit of butter or oil, to assist with the cooking but other than that, jt was perfectly fine. It does get very hot, very smoky and you do leave smelling of steak
Only loses a star for the atmosphere (it was so smoky inside our eyes were burning!). Everything else was perfect! Everyone in our group of 6 was extremely happy with our food. Service was quite slow (a pretty long wait after we placed our order) but we weren't in a hurry so didn't mind.
Went for our team feative dinner and everything was amazing the team were fabulous and went above & beyond for us before and during our visit The set menu price was so good for what you get and everything tasted so good hence why I was only able to snap a picture of my dessert 😂
My wife booked this place for my birthday. Chateaubriand was the dish we ordered. But had a trio of starters first, very tasty. When the main dish arrived you cooked it yourself on a hot rock. It was delicious and fully recommended. Bottle of wine was also part of the meal. Staff were outstanding and the service fantastic.
Fantastic food and great staff. Lovely atmosphere. You can opt to cook the steak to how you want it yourself on a hot stone which is really fun. Great cocktails as well.
Unbelievable food and would love to come back again. Steak was mouthwatering and was a great experience to be able to cook it in front of me. The Baked Alaska was next level. 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from my son and I.
Cannot fault this restaurant. We have been coming to Belfast for work over the last few weeks and always make a point of coming here. The staff remembered us from last week (helps that my friend has bright pink hair) and our server Nella was an absolute doll. We will be back again at the end of the month to celebrate my birthday because the food, atmosphere and service are top notch. Definitely the best Sunday roast I've had in the UK. Looking forward to trying the steaks next time. Thank you for always making us welcome.
Excellent restaurant, I would highly recommend. Staff are very welcoming and friendly. Patrick, in particular was very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is lovely and the food is top quality. Will definitely be back.
Great food and drink, really enjoyed the experience of cooking steak at the table. We were there to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and they made a big fuss of us which was so nice! Would go back. The only thing I would note is that you do leave smelling of smoke in your hair and clothes and the restaurant itself is quite smoky and warm.
Patrick and the waiting staff were amazing, extremely friendly, and what you would expect from a quality restaurant. The food was absolutely exquisite, 12oz matured filet steak was cooked to perfection(medium-rare), so tender and full of flavour and juice. Hand cut chips, where perfectly cooked, as well as the portobello mushrooms. Would highly recommend to eat here. It was relatively busy when we arrived, yet the service and time taken to get seated, and order our drinks and food was second to none. By far the best steak I've eaten. The Despacito Malbec was a great wine to accompany the steak. 10 out of 10 on all accounts
Nice place for meat or seafood. I chose mussels and desert. It was quite ok, not the best I ever had, but was good. I saw nice meat pieces on other tables, so worth coming back and trying something different.
Visited last night and as a vegan I was very pleasantly surprised. The tempura tender stem broccoli was one of the nicest things I’ve ever had and the soup of the day, hand cut chips & brocolli wings were also beautiful. The only thing I would love to see them improve would be the main course offering, something like a vegan steak would be great!
Brilliant food! Starters were on a weaker side and plating wasn't great however steaks were absolute delight! We got a massive piece of steak on a stone, chunky fries were delish! Service was amazing, servers were so lovely to chat to! Really enjoyed it and would come back again but only for main, hence taking one star away. Cocktails (berry mojito) were so good and strong! Thank you!
Lovely restaurant for family and friends. The environment allows for you to have great conversations even in the midst of a large group. The location is also in the heart of Belfast city centre making it accessible for ease of transportation.
Stix & Stones delivered some genuinely great steaks — beautifully cooked and full of flavour — but the overall experience was a bit mixed. We ended up waiting quite a long time for our food, which took the shine off things. The atmosphere was lively, and the music had a fun, funky vibe, but it was far too loud for a dinner setting. I struggled to hear the friends sitting right beside me, so it’s definitely not the ideal venue if you’re hard of hearing or hoping for proper conversation. On the positive side, the décor is gorgeous and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier. There’s a lot to love here, but the noise levels and wait times made it harder to fully enjoy what could have been a brilliant meal.
Bad steak experience… though I really do feel like this was a one-off as this restaurant came very highly recommend to me by trusted sources! We requested our steaks be cooked by the chefs rather than on a hot plate at the table (I don’t want to go out for dinner and have to cook my own food), to which the staff were more that happy to accommodate - they did give us the option after all. We waited quite a while (maybe 35 mins) for our food to arrive, but it was busy and we hadn’t booked so fair enough. The steaks were very chewy and hard to swallow which we raised with the waiter who offered us a new steak immediately - we declined and had free dessert instead. Can’t fault the staff or the vibes, just bad luck on the steak front. Dessert was tasty and the starters too.
I’m a bit torn writing this review and I’ve debated it since leaving on Saturday night but I am so incredibly disappointed with our experience. The food was okay - I will admit I was ill prepared for the stone cooking experience, I think I must have read the site wrong and believed this was an option rather than a forgone conclusion that I would, in essence, be cooking my own dinner. The meat was of good quality, we did enjoy our food overall, HOWEVER. The wait between courses was ludicrous! I appreciate a Saturday night, in the heart of Belfast, at a popular restaurant there will be delays, but this was just madness. We got seated at 17:20. Starters arrived 17:33 (which is timestamped from a photo I took of my drink) and were finished at approximately 17:45-17:50. Our mains didn’t arrive until 18:40. While I watched the table beside us, who were sat long after us, receive their mains long before us. I’m sorry but that’s not good enough. We were going to a show at the opera house at 19:30, and unfortunately didn’t have time to actually enjoy our meal or for dessert. We couldn’t flag down a member of staff to ask what was going on because once our starters were removed and we refused another drink, we were avoided. I’m sorely disappointed with the experience and won’t be back.
Arranged a birthday party for my husband a party of 11. Waiting 30 minutes for 3 peoples starters then ANOTHER 40 MINUTES for main course leaving 8 people waiting OVER an Hour for food😡 Their excuse because two people had allergies (cherries bananas and mussels ) No one ordered anything remotely close to that!! 3 dinners arrive then a few more minutes 2 more and the stone steaks another 5 minute wait and they still had to cook theirs. By this time the salmon was dried out sitting under the lp- they did take that off the bill. The final straw was the “Birthday desserts” was a TINY scoop of ice cream only for 1! Perhaps its a cultural thing but I wanted a birthday cake and/or dessert for all. Honestly it was so late (3hrs later) we were too tired anyway! We want be back and we will be sure to let Abbey Tours know DO NOT RECOMMEND! Disappointing birthday 😡 If you eat their for Xmas plan in staying til Boxing day!
The food was very mid for the price of it, the steak was chewy which kind of let me down as I had high hopes for this restaurant. People who arrived 30 minutes later than us got their food before us. We had to ask about the food a few times due to the long wait for our steak which comes basically raw to cook yourself on a stone. The place was filled with smoke which made it a little difficult to breathe, windows or else better ventilation would have really helped. The cocktails and beer were very nice.
We sat down at 7pm among a busy, full restaurant. Our orders were taken, my wife having a starter, but me just going for the 8oz sirloin main. Her starter arrived at 8pm, while we were fast becoming the only occupied table now. Her mussels were fair, and piled on the plate although very small themselves. The plate was collected around 8.30pm. The staff seemed busier relaying empty tables than serving anyone's food. Our two steaks finally arrived at around 8.50pm. You can imagine i was absolutely starving by this time. To be fair cooking your own steaks was fine and the steaks very tasty. Given the time lapse I decided against ordering a pudding and asked for the bill. We asked several times where our meal was and when it might be coming! Other diners seemed to be served much more quickly. When paying we did voice our concerns but it was shrugged off. While the food, when it arrived was good, the overall experience would not lead us to return or recommend to others.
We had booked elsewhere for my Husbands birthday but they cancelled last minute due to gas issues. Unfortunately we genuinely had an awful time here. Our drinks waiter was amazing, honestly our only good take away from the place. We both wanted steaks but female waitress told us we couldn't have them cooked to our liking as the kitchen was too busy and theyd be served on a hotplate instead. Ridiculous so I changed my order from 12oz fillet steak to fish as I didnt want to be cooking it myself. I was really disappointed as im medium rare so wouldnt have taken too long! Anyway, i wasn't able to cancel my fish starter so it was fish on fish, not ideal. My husbands steak came out (he likes his well done as advised when ordering, but still wasn't allowed to order his preference), and it literally took 15-20 minutes for it to cook to close to his liking, by which time I had finished (i did wait for ages, but his steak started off blue). Wasn't the birthday experience we wanted. Food wasn't great, paid over £150 to effectively cook our own dinner, and it wasn't what we wanted. Plus everyones sizzling stones made the air hard to breathe and had my eyes watering 3mins in. So cant recommend unfortunately. We swiftly left and got dessert elsewhere, which was beautiful.
