Opinions de Cafe Modern Benbrook
We had a wonderful Valentine’s Day dinner at Cafe Modern! The special menu (filet mignon and lobster tail) was absolutely delicious, beautifully prepared, and full of flavor. There was a small delay in our food due to a miscommunication, but the staff handled it with complete professionalism and accountability. They went above and beyond to make it right, and their exceptional service truly stood out. The venue is stunning, the atmosphere was perfect for a romantic evening, and the staff and ownership are simply amazing. We’ll definitely be back.
I had a wonderful dinner for one with Quell as my server. He treated me well and made me feel special on an important night with a private event occurring, and Oktoberfest. I enjoyed my night alone nonetheless. I enjoyed a half portion of the Autumn kale salad and the Honeysuckle Rose cocktail. it was delicious and I can’t wait to go back and hopefully get Quell again!
Wonderful and relaxing. Went there to celebrate our mom graduation. Didn’t take many pics of the food but the ambiance is peaceful and welcoming. We had the jalapeño cornbread to start off it was spectacular. I had the chicken pot pie 🥧 so delicious and with fresh ingredients. I only wish I had more photos.
Nestled within the Modern Art Museum, the café offers a dining experience that is both visually and culinarily delightful. The ambiance is sophisticated yet relaxed, with large windows providing a stunning view of the museum’s serene reflecting pool. The menu is a delightful fusion of contemporary American cuisine with a focus on fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Service was impeccable – attentive and knowledgeable without being intrusive. The staff's passion for both the food and the art surrounding us was evident and added to the overall experience. Café Modern is not just a place to eat, but a destination to savor both fine art and fine dining.
Cafe Modern, a staple in Fort Worth cuisine since the museum's opening in 2002. I was heartbroken to hear of its closing during the pandemic and parting ways with Bon Appétit, but now I'm shaking my fist at myself for not returning sooner! Jett Mora's culinary skills are on display for all to see here, accented by the beautiful dining area with the gorgeous reflecting pool backdrop outside the massive windows. Looking beyond the gorgeous setting, the food is really what we all will come again and again for, this time without such a lapse in visits on my end! Starting with the skillet cornbread, it was immediately obvious that we were in for a treat this day for lunch. The cornbread was moist with just the right amount of crunchy bits drizzled in warm maple butter for us to pull off an astonishing trick of making the entire dish disappear before the waitress could even turn around. Following the delectable first course, we all ventured in opposite directions for our entrées. Me, being the food mooch that I am, managed to sneak a bite of everyone's food. Perhaps this was by coercion, or perhaps it was because I flipped the bill. I ordered outside the norm for myself and opted for one of the specials for the day, which was an insanely good summer squash in Bengali curry with fresh radishes and summer greens. I must say, for this being outside of my standard carnivorous norm, this was in my opinion the shining star of the table this day! All the flavors melded together in a wonderful symphony that could have brought a tear to my eye if I wasn't so busy stuffing my face full of bite after bite. My dining partners opted for the other special (Salmon Cakes), the sinful cheeseburger, and a soft omelette scramble. Starting with the salmon cakes, these were my second favorite for the day. The cakes were fried up with just the right amount of sear and all the flavors of the dish melded wonderfully to bring out the essence of a truly good plate for these hot Texas summers. What did I learn from this? It sounds like you should order the special for the day, whatever that might be! Moving on to the burger. The meaty grind of chuck, brisket, and short rib is still making me drool as I think about them while writing this review! It's a serious burger; one of the better burgers I've had in town for sure! Not only that, but the fries are perfectly crispy and seasoned. Now that I've sufficiently wiped enough drool from my phone to continue typing, that brings us to the omelette. As someone who eats a lot of eggs, more than any person probably ever needs to, I can say that this soft and well-balanced Garlic Herb Boursin Cheese to delicately cooked egg was spot on. Everything was as it should be, simple, elegant, and perfectly cooked. Oh! I'm skipping over the cocktails, which were also perfect and totally fine to drink at 11 AM; I don't care who judges me. Annnyyways, they were perfect and you should order them to your hearts content! To sum up, I regret taking so long to return. I will be back as soon as possible!
Husband and I went for Sunday brunch. We got to sit by the water and watch the ducks. The surroundings were peaceful and calm, as you would expect for a museum cafe, with light music in the background. The food was delicious. We ordered the burger and the chilequiles and told our server that we like to share plates. She brought out our food cut in half on separate plates. In all the years we've been sharing, no one has ever done that before. I was delighted at the thoughtfulness and enjoyed the delicious meal in the beautiful atmosphere. Then we walked the museum.
I went for Sunday brunch and was immensely impressed! Service was impeccable and the food was absolutely decadent! It was unclear on the menu that the Korean fried chicken came with waffles, but I was so pleasantly surprised with the best chicken and waffles I've ever had in life. I also ordered the salad which was light and delicious. My companion ordered the burger and said that it was really good as well. I also like that they serve Acqua Panna which, in my opinion, is the best water, lol :) It was a calm and quiet atmosphere. We sat by the window with a nice view of the water. The icing on the cake was the fact that the museum had free entry on that day, so we were able to walk around and take pictures after our meal. It was a great brunch experience that I highly recommend and would absolutely do again!
Arrived at 11 am and basked in the stillness. The bread was outstanding. The French mimosa was also excellent. The quinoa salad and bolognese were a small step above average. We tried the mini pistachio eclair bites with matcha ice cream, the sweet potato creme brulee and the red wine poached pear cobbler with ginger ice cream--each of which was $15. Pro tip--arrive at 11 am because as the restaurant fills up, the noise level goes up
Hearty, flavorful, and peaceful. Great place to dine right after exploring the museum. I didn’t expect much from this place, but I was pleasantly surprised. If I lived in Forth Worth, I would come here somewhat regularly to try out the entire menu. The chef does a good job of combining different cuisines to make a cohesive, delicious dish.
What an incredible and pleasant surprise, this dining experience was! How about that view huh!? We dined here prior to attending the movie right next door in the Magnolia, at the Modern. We weren't familiar with their menu prior to attending, and quite honestly, we were not expecting much on choice or quality. I mean come on...it's inside an Art Gallery right? WRONG, so wrong... The choices were many, original, and there is a reason the Chefs name's are placed on that menu! Unbelievable presentation, flavors, and textures. It was nothing like we expected! We ended up ordering the Potato and Leek Soup, Mushroom Risotto, and the Celery Root Agnolotti. Wowsers! What a treat and perfect pairing for our Friday date night! Do yourself a favor and go support your local art scene, and dine like you deserve too.
Went here early December 2021, after hearing Cafe Modern opened up their dinner dining option again. I made a reservation for 2 in advance, and got there a bit early to check out the exhibits before eating. The views were really special, and perfect since I wanted a holiday-related outing 😊 My partner and I ordered the Mezze Platter, Black and White Bucatini, Dan Dan Noodles, and the waitress recommended the Peaches and Cream dessert. All of it was delicious and flavorful. The waiting time was a bit long between each dish, but the view and the food made it worth it.
Cafe Modern is exactly what you'd expect from a restaurant in an art museum. Chic & beautiful, the ambiance is incredible. The thing that sets it apart is its price. I'd say this is one of the cheapest fine dining options I've seen in Fort Worth and one of the best in terms of cuisine. My first time in there was rather long wait times but this was probably due to the huge party an organization was throwing inside. Other than that the service was great. The chef and manager are both quite nice. Plus this is the only cafe I know that has a pet duck.
This was a surprisingly great restaurant. The menu was very small but everything we had was amazing. The potpie was incredible and hard to describe. The salads were fresh and unique. It is a little loud around the water and windows, but it’s a really classy place. They just need more food selections.
Very cute place for a brunch spot, fine crafted food which was delicious. Booked a reservation and go seated next to the water- beautiful view. Just took off a star because for us, service took a long time from the time we came in. However when brought up the staff was very sweet and was served right away. Overall experience was very pleasant and would recommend!
My family recently took me to Cafe Modern on a beautiful Sunday Morning to celebrate my birthday with brunch. This restaurant is relaxing and perfect for family/friends meeting to catch up with each other. The meal began with some scrumptious breakfast breads. I ordered the entree of two eggs any style, which for me is two eggs over medium and that came with crispy potatoes, whole wheat toast and bacon. I also ordered some delicious cold orange juice. Others in my party ordered the Belgian Waffle and the Omelet of the day. Our food was very good and quite filling. Our server was friendly, helpful and gracious. Nice and relaxing atmosphere, good food and Great people to converse with. ⭐Winner in my book.⭐
A Friday dinner option recently returned and still needs quite a bit of work - service was painfully slow starting with 23 minutes to get a beer and a glass of wine (pacing didn't improve) -- food - presentation and flavor were strong but our app and one entre had cooled significantly before reaching our table. The BIG positive - incredible ambience and a great view!
I actually can't recommend this place. Food was a disaster. Not fresh, put together in some weird way. Their soup was a weird mix of a French onion and wonton soup, the dumplings were burnt. The chircken salad was something unrecognizable. I refused to eat that. But the rest wasn't any better. Sandwich gave me an equal heartburn and taste was worse than a $5 subway. Coffee, maybe. But I wouldn't go beyond that here. View is nice though.
