I’ve always gone to this place cause the food is amazing but especially this most current time I went the service was amazing and I met the nicest staff named Naima. Thank you so much for ur service and I really appreciate it.
Same tender, juicy meat I craved back in college! My go-to favorite remains the beef kebab plate (I like rice best, although you can also get fries for your side). Portions are a tad smaller than I remembered as a hungry college student, but the food remains solidly delicious! I like wrapping my kebab meat, salad, hummus, and yogurt into a delicious wrap with the included pita slices, using rice to finish up everything. But everything is delicious even if you're a separatist! Their prices are still great. :) Love this place!
I’ve been eating at this place since 2016, I’ve never been disappointed my son my husband and myself are obsessed with their food. From the owners to the staff to the food to the place if I could give it more stars, I would they have the best Mediterranean food they have authentic recipes from back home Palestine if you are a lover of Mediterranean food, this is the place to go. You won’t be disappointed trust me. Nawell
Came here for the first time meeting a friend for the first time. There are a few good vegetarian options here. I think a couple plates and wraps, respectively. So, it's not a bad selection, I would say. I got their falafel wrap and wasn't disappointed. The falafel was really good. I don't know if they make everything in house, but I enjoyed it much more than store bought falafel I've had in the past. They have a normal register and attendant and also a little ordering kiosk right near the door. It's a smaller place, but they have a few tables to sit and eat at inside.
You know where you are. The place serves college kids. It is cheap and fast food but it is good, fresh, hot food. It's a tiny establishment. Seating for about 10 people. I really like their shawarma. The felafels are a bit small.
I’ve been coming for years, still the best in Berkeley !
Good and delicious halal food 💯💯👌
I usually don't give review but this one is too good. I've been on campus for 2 years, and I go there twice a week. I could go just for the french fries, the best in Berkeley, but all the food is amazing. Also super friendly I just wish their doggy bag were not in plastic - eat your meal there!
I'm half Egyptian, and D'Yar has the best Middle Eastern Food that I've found by Berkeley! I especially love their Kofta Kebab, both the plate and the wrap—It might be the best Kofta I've had outside of Egypt!
I had an amazing beef wrap, and it came very quickly. It did fall apart closer to the end, so napkins and a fork are definitely good to have close.
Ordered Chicken Swarma Plate, Mediterranean Plate and Gyro Plate. They were all excellent and everything was very fresh. The hummus is super yummy. Fast and reasonably priced as well.
Juiciest shawarmas. Definitely worth your money
We had the Mediterranean Plate and the Chicken Shawarma and they were both so tasty! The falafels were deep fried to perfection and flavorful. Would definitely recommend, and will come back!
Stopped in for lunch. My teen ordered the lamb and beef gyro and I got a falafel wrap. Yum! We cut the wraps in half and each enjoyed a delicious lunch. Admittedly, I could only finish the half of my falafel and about 1/4 of the gyro. My teen willingly helped me finish the rest and we were both stuffed when we left.
Phenomenal. Can’t wait to go back. Got the falafel + hummus bowl which is vegan by default. So delicious!
Was craving some gyro and this hit the spot!! The gyro was delish and the rice/sides worked perfectly well. It was pretty packed because it is right besides a college campus but it’s definitely worth it. The price is also really good for the amount you get. The yogurt and hummus sauce were so good. Looking for a quick bite, this is your place.
the food is delicious! and the workers are always very nice :)
I’ve been a frequent customer since freshman year and I am graduating in a week! Its been a great time. Great food, service and place. They are fast and taste/ingredients have always been consistent. Thank you for feeding me on my hangriest days!! Also one of the chefs knows that I like to put lime juice on my beef and lamb gyro plate and he remembered today.
I have always enjoyed their Mediterranean plate - so flavorful! Their food comes quickly, too, and the place has good seating.
Really like their gyro platter. This is one of the resto I went to whenever I was too lazy to prepare my lunch. The food is flavorfull
Wow! Delicious, fresh food, will most definitely come back for and eggplant wrap!

Best lamb kabob plate I’ve ever had. Super fresh, prepared to order, amazing fries and hummus.
The pesto falafel wrap is insanely good. The pesto and feta cheese adds a uniquely nice touch to it.
One of my favorite restaurants close to campus. I always get the chicken shawarma plate.
The food was great. Just what we had hoped for. Fresh and tasty. These ladies were working hard to fill tons of orders fast. Seating area is small, so grab it to go and find a nice place to sit on campus. You won’t be sad.
My wife and I came out from the Concord area to beat the inland heat and spend the day in Berkeley. We got hungry and decided to stop in here for lunch. The food was delicious!! I’m sad the fact the only picture I took I shared to my Instagram stories and don’t have a picture of my plate. But I had the beef kabob plate with, rice, salad, naan, and hummus. The beef was very tasty and tender. The rice was perfectly cooked and salad was fresh and crispy. My wife had the chicken kabob plate, which came with rice, salad, naan, hummus. The food portions were great and the price is amazing, and the staff is really friendly and welcoming. Great atmosphere to enjoy lunch. I’ll definitely be taking the drive from Concord again here in the near future. As this place is a winner every time.
I am going to dub myself a seasoned regular by now, since I’ve probably gained about 10 pounds from the amount of spicy pesto falafel wraps I’ve pounded from here over the last year. D’Yar is a straightforward Mediterranean counter service spot with really nice staff and the densest falafel! When I treat myself to lunch near campus and I wander around looking for somewhere to eat, my body mysteriously wanders itself to D’Yar every time. The mini falafel plate is probably the best value (as far as vegetarian options go, I haven’t priced meat dishes), but the pesto falafel wrap reigns supreme and you’d be remiss to order anything else. Absolutely order it spicy!

Healthy food at a very good price: loved their Chicken Kebab plate: had that many times!
D'Yar is a great spot to get Mediterranean food around Berkeley, and has solid quality at a good price. D'Yar was a place we would go at least a few times a month back in undergrad, and as such we became experts at the menu and nailed down our standard order. The amount of food you get is adequate, but the taste is fantastic. The standard order I'd get was Chicken Kebab plate with fries, definitely recommended. I've since moved away from Berkeley, but the taste of D'Yar isn't really matched by anywhere else at this price point, and I definitely miss it :(
I had just finished hiking the Fire Trail and decided to loop back through the campus to see the clock tower on the way down the hill before heading back to my car. I was stopped mid-stride as I passed Dyar, just because of the smells that was coming from the little shop. All of the chairs were stacked on the tables, but they're taking take-away orders and still accepting cash. The staff wore masks and gloves. For $40, we received: 1 kefta kebab wrap, 1 lamb kebab wrap, a side of hummus, side of falafel and 2 baklava. Everything was so fresh and so tasty! The meat was fall-apart fresh. The hummus tasted like it had just been freshly made and the baklava was still warm & flaky. I'm so happy with this find! This area in Berkeley, boasts a lot of great eats, this place is no exception.
Delicious food, but they kicked me out an hour before closing. First off, the food itself is great! I got the Beef Kebab Plate and the beef was juicy and flavorful. Everything was good and plenty for one person. About $15 which is average for the area. But what was disappointing was that they kicked me out of the restaurant an hour before they close because they wanted to close early. I had only been sitting for about 15 minutes when they told me they would be closing in 2 minutes at 8:55pm because it was slow. I had to pack up the little food I had left, and it was cold by the time I got home. It felt rude and awkward. I have mixed feelings now. The food was really good, but being rushed out like that left a bad taste in my mouth.
Gotta say this place is pretty enjoyable! I got the falafel plate yesterday, and I like it!
Delicious middle eastern dish with a reasonable price and good quality. Restroom is not available for customers and employees don’t look very happy about their job!
Nice and fresh Mediterranean food. I had falafels with hummus and a salad. The bread was bit hard and I didn't try much but my meal was very flavorful and fresh. The place is very cozy and food served very fast.
Chicken Kebab! With rice. Man they got some of the best chicken around the campus. The plate is so worth it.
Delicious and huge portion for the price. Good cost performance.

The food is decent, but the service is quite rough. They have a ‘plates’ menu that comes with a choice of either fries or salad, but when I tried to order one of the options they said it only comes with salad. That’s not what their menu states and they refused to honor the order. Other times, I’ve tried ordering at the counter because the people before me had done so, and they refused to take my order instead pointing to the dirty self-service kiosk. Sometimes, they just seem rude to everyone for no apparent reason. The anomaly is when a Mexican man is working, he is very friendly and provides great customer service. If you’re into paying ok the higher-end of prices to be disrespected, you’ll love it here.
Ordered from here twice. First time I got the chicken shawarma plate, and it was good but the chicken was a bit too salty. The pita was nice and fresh and the rice was fluffy. Second time I ordered the avocado falafel wrap with hummus, but there was no avocado or hummus. I like onions, but they were particularly heavy with them with my wrap. It didn’t taste balanced.
Been coming to Berkeley for a few years to visit my daughters, and this was the first time we ate here. Its a small, cozy spot. A few tables inside but there's not a lot of room. I imagine it can get very crowded during peak times. The two guys working were nice. Service was fine. You order and pick up at the counter, so not much for them to do other than smile and be nice. Still, I left a 20% tip which was probably a bit high. So, about the food. It was nothing to write home about. The protein portion is small, but they do give rice, hummus, salad, yogurt and pita with the plates. The beef was not tender at all, so probably using a lower grade meat like a chuck. Definitely not sirloin or filet. The hummus was probably the best part of our meal. Maybe their falafel or shawarma is better, or their wraps. I would not recommend the kabobs, that's for sure. Small, chewey and not worth the price. No fountain drinks, but that's common in Berkeley. Overall, I may go back and try a falafel wrap, but no plates.

Chicken sharma very dry, the rice no taste at all.
I ordered a beef kebab wrap. There was little meat and half the meat was so chewy that I gave up and spat it out. It felt like I was eating tendon.
I got the falafel plate and was excited to try it, but was unfortunately disappointed. The falafel itself was fine, but the hummus was not very flavorful. What was most concerning though was that the two women working there didn’t have their masks pulled up over their noses and mouths until after I walked in, and one left her nose uncovered even as she was finishing putting together the order. They were very nice, but it was a little disappointing to see and made me nervous to eat the food.
I said 'Esselamu aleykum' as greetings and didn't get any answer. One woman stand next to Gyro and the other with Hijab on the phone. Their attitude like 'why did you come here?'. I asked 'do you speak Turkish, answer was a strong ''No!' with unfriendly face. I gave my order 'a gyro wrap' and charged $13.00without saying 'Thank you!' ir any word. I watched both Gyro stand not running. The lady took from a plate, put some oil on it and tried to warming. Didn't take a minute, then wrapped and put on the grill to warming again, but didn't take 30secs. I took it as a cold meat-wrap like a dog food with sauer face. I asked if there is souce with it, she throw it to table. You can not see this kind treatment not even from worst enemy! Never again! By the way we were 2 bus full people with 90 person. They lost, I can get food from anywhere other then this place.
Fuzzy MOLD in my salad on several onion slices. Very disgusting. I called and they gave me no refund.

Dyar used to give more quantity and better quality food. Post the summer, they have started giving less quantity and the chicken was very chewy. I hope they can go back to being the great place they were!
