Definitely coming back here when I’m back in LA from Singapore. Great flavors, great taste and authentically Thai. Price slightly on the higher side but you’re in Sawtelle so…

There was a party in my mouth from the first bite till the last! The flavors just kept coming. If you want a different burger with an authentic Thai twist.. try this place!

Fun and really delicious. Nice place, convenient location, great people. Grapow Smash is my new favorite thing. I Love Ban Ban Burger! My mind was blown.

One of the top smash burger spot in LA area. (West LA and Sawtelle/Westwood area. It is Thai fusion smash burger spot. It be hitting gooooooood. Pull up to this spot. Customer service is also great!

This place was shockingly good. Jumped to my top 3 favorite burgers in LA. Staff is friendly and kind. Patties are delicate, bun is good quality, and the flavors of the gra pow were bold and satisfying. My only suggestion would be to add more of a basil flavor. Regardless, this is a top burger spot and I would highly recommend it.

Delicious thai flavored smash burgers. I recommend getting double patties since they are thin smashed burgers. It was quite greasy though. The laab fries were amazing!

Best burger in LA! Heavy handed, hi-ho, Apple pan, and Father’s office call are all great in their own way but Ban Ban is in a class of its own!!! The staff is so kind, they had a great selection of beer, and the sweet potato fries were perfect. We got t grapow burgers:) 🍔

Run, don’t walk here. Ridiculously unique combination of Thai flavors in their burger/sando. Had the wagu laab burger and panang chicken sando. Can’t wait to go back

Ordered the grapow smash! It was delicious and very unique 10/10! The fries were perfectly crispy and thin but not greasy. Highly recommend giving them a try if you are in the area. Daughters ordered the panang chicken sandwich. It was good but came in second after the grapow smash

M

Really unique thai flavors on all their smash burgers! Very spicy for this BB, but was told that you can tone down spiciness level. Will definitely be back to try the Chicken sandwich! Also loved the Large fry portions!

I haven't had a more unique and interesting burger experience than here. It's a little pricey, but that's usually the case with smash burgers, and these are especially special. The food is super flavorful and fresh. The business is very small, and seating can get cramped—both inside and outside. It's an issue when things get super busy and lots of people are around. I also noticed that if you order dine-in, they bring out the food in very staggered intervals. Not optimal for eating at the same time as your friends and family. Besides the relatively long wait and seating situation, I would definitely recommend coming and at least trying once. I am coming again to try more of the menu. I tried the grapow smash, wagyu laab smash, and panang chicken sando. All were tasty, but I would say the grapow and panang were better than the laab. Also, for my fellow low-spice tolerance people, the food wasn't as spicy as I was expecting. I would say it's a slight warmth at most.

Nice little pop-up next to Tuk Tuk. If you enjoy Tuk Tuk you will be pleasantly satisfied. Had the Penang chicken sandwich and with the ketchup curry fries it was fantastic 🔥

Oh. My. Goodness. I’m MEH on burgers and smashburgers but I love thai food. We ordered the gra pow burger and the laab (minty burger) and this was probably the most delicious thing I have ever had between two pieces of bread. It’s not light eating, but it is sooo delicious! Also, unlike other smashburger places, the patties are slightly thicker. Worth the price. Cannot wait to go again!!!

Cute location, great service, and fantastic food! The Grapow Smash Burger with a side of shoestring fries is a must.

Stamp of approval! As a Thai native who also loves burgers, this combo was perfect. The papaya fries with the Thai dipping sauce were absolutely heavenly. Rating: 9.5/10

I have never been happier eating any burger in my life and I'm 70 years old. Unbelievably tasty Grapow Smashbyuger, great smash wonderful Thai grapow sauce with that special Thai heat. My forehead is still sweating! Fantastic burger and I will definitely be ordering again. Order extra Thai pickles as they are super tasty. The shoestring fries were well made but the curry ketchup really didn't have much to prove it was curry flavored. I would probably do the garlic aioli next time!

Ban Ban Burger is one of my favorite burgers in LA and by far, the most unique. All their sandos and burgers are amazing, but I especially love their Grapow smash. Their thai tea shake and fries are also amazing. There are many smashburgers in LA, but none of them taste like Ban Ban!

very delicious and really good seasoning, the drinks are also very nice

Grapow is amazing. The egg inside is runny, so be careful! spicy but delicious and flavorful Papaya fries are a bit oily but the sauce coming with it is amazing Chili Jam is solid, but the sauce was overpowering for my taste Overall their menu is super creative, unique and good blend of taste!

One of the more unique smash burgers in the city with some unique Thai inspired flavors. Spicy and tangy while still being juicy and beefy, and only $12! Honestly in the pantheon of smash burgers, this place has one of the more memorable ones. Street parking is pretty plentiful around the area. There is some seating, but it's not a large place. Also the fries are thin and crispy.

A
Andrew Lim

Went here for lunch as my mum recommended it. The Grapow Smash was really nice, there was a hint of spiciness to it but only enough to balance the different flavors from the sauce, the patties, bun and veggies. Had it together with the sweet potato fries and Pandan shake and it was a bliss! The food was served quick. The price for the burger is not expensive and the serving is a really good portion. The place was generally clean but when we went there, we had to clean the table a bit ourselves before eating. Service needs some improvement but we do not really care much since the food was worth it for the price. I would definitely come back here next time I visit LA again!

Honestly, what a find. The food is absolutely delicious and filling. Can’t say enough good things about the chicken sandwich and fries. The big winner was that curry on the chicken holy moly! Service was great as well. Lady in the front was extremely kind and warm. Overall, easy 5 stars for this little gem of a spot

The Baseline

The Baseline: For a Burger-joint the burgers, fries, and drinks are prepared well, done with properly applied ingredients that should taste good, and any unique offerings should not take away from the basis of the burger itself. Food: I had the Grapow Smash (double patty) with shoestring fries and a Thai Iced Tea shake. The burger was excellent with a crusty fried coating you expect from a smash burger. It had some spicy elements which made it very good with the runny egg. The fries I will skip. They were cooked but weren’t very tasty as it felt too oily. I will probably try the sweet potato fries next time. The Thai Iced Tea shake was awesome and there were little bits of coconut in the mix. It is a must try. Service: Straight forward service which is friendly and on-point taking your order and delivering your food. Ambiance: This is a fun fusion Thai-burger stand on Sawtelle. The inside is decorated but mostly no frills hamburger stand. Comfortable seating set up to enjoy your food but not comfortable enough to hang out long term. There is an outside patio seating for eating outside while nice west side weather makes it enjoyable.

At a time where smash burgers are everywhere, Ban Ban Burger offers a delicious Thai twist. Was super excited to try this place but hesitant because I wasn’t sure if it would work. It’s a small, cute place on the west side. Service is friendly and quick. Got the double grapow smash burger but I think a single would be just as satisfying. So many places nowadays are overly smashing their patties to the point of destruction (looking at you Easy Street) but here, they’re smashed just enough and yet are still meaty. The patty is lightly marinaded from what I can tell but it isn’t overpowering and there’s a savory sauce on top with Thai basil leaves. They all come with a perfectly fried egg. No ketchup or sauce needed as the egg yolk and Thai sauce on top create this perfect umami concoction that saturates every bite. I was afraid it might be over seasoned to the point where the essence of a burger would get lost but not at all. It works so well. Didn’t try the sides but I will for sure next time as I’ll definitely be back.

Their grapow smash (pictured) was so good, perfectly seasoned and the meat/bun/condiments ratio was superb! I wasn’t going to order this smash burger because of the sunny side up egg but the cashier said it was worth it. She was absolutely right! Plus they give you a wet nap with every order so that made me feel a bit better. The egg yolk in fact did not get as messy as I anticipated. I will be back!!

First time here, very impressive and slightly spicey! I went with the first burger on the menu. The Sweet potatoes fries were probably the best I've ever had. And the Thai tea milkshake is just as you'd imagine - and very easy to sip through the straw. Im showing all my friends this place.

Maybe the best burger I have ever had. For me most burgers, especially smash, taste more or less the same. The kra pow burger here had amazing flavors, they really nailed the spice level. Great crust, egg cooked perfectly, everything about it was great. Would 100% be my favorite burger of all time if there was a little more protein.

Its a smash burger restaurant. Very thin and crispy burger meat.. the sauce is SPICY like super spicy.. it was too much that I couldn't taste the food

The Thai Fried Chicken Sando offers an intriguing fusion of Thai flavors in a fried chicken sandwich. The bread is pleasingly soft, while the chicken boasts a crispy exterior and juicy interior. The sauce imparts a delightful hint of Tom Yum essence. It's a combination worth sampling for those seeking a unique twist on a classic. ;)

We ordered the wagyu labb smash and satay katsu sando. I loved the labb seasoning on the burger but they over salted our patty. The satay katsu sando was good, the chicken was extremely juicy and the bread was perfectly toasted. The satay sauce was just missing something. Overall solid spot with an interesting twist on the traditional burger.

Interesting burger place with a Thai twist. I got the grapow smash burger with a pandan shake. Although the burger was a bit small, I don't recall any complaints while eating it. Tasted great with the Thai spice blend and the egg was a nice touch too. The shake was alright though I forgot it was pandan if it wasn't for the pieces added on top.

this place is great!! i came with my brother while he was visiting LA and he absolutely loved the chili jam burger. love their panang curry fries and the coconut shake (dairy free) is out of this world!! i took off a star only because i wish they had more gluten-free friendly options - like gf buns or a lettuce wraps.

The grapow smash was great but the papaya fries were too oily. The atmosphere was very clean and intimate sized with ample outside space to sit. I would definitely try this place again and try the other burgers and sandwiches they have on the menu.

Good burger spot. Small, simple interior with limited seating. Also a small front patio area. The burger meets the hype. Nice smash patty. Great mix of flavors. Really liked the mint and herb sauce. The shoestring fries are pretty standard. Would definitely come back to try more. Service was good. Street meter parking up and down the block.

The chili jam burger was truly remarkable. The patties are seared to perfection. Problem is that the burger was way too greasy. Dripping grease.

I’ve been watching this place forever on social media thanks to my usual reliable influencers, and finally made it over to Ban Ban Burger off Sawtelle in West LA. First off, it’s not your typical smash burger joint. This place mixes Thai flavors with classic smash patties, and that twist is exactly what makes it stand out. Parking is street only, and like most West LA spots, it can be a little tricky, but we found a spot without too much circling. The space itself is casual, kind of fun, with both indoor and outdoor seating and a laid-back vibe that fits the food perfectly. The menu is small but anything but boring. You’ve got Thai-inspired smash burgers like the Grapow Smash (spicy and flavorful with basil chili and runny egg), the Wagyu Laab Smash, a couple of sando choices like the Panang chicken, and some creative sides and shakes. We tried a couple of different burgers and the chicken sando. The flavors are bold, this isn’t your straight-American burger. Think Thai seasonings, fragrant pickles, unique sauces, and a little heat that hits without being overwhelming. Even people online are calling it one of the better Thai-twist smash burgers in town. Portion-wise it’s about what you expect for a smash burger, not huge, but enough if you’re hungry without going overboard. The chicken sandwich is juicy and tasty, loaded with good toppings, and the Pandan or Thai tea shakes are a nice bonus that feel like part of the experience rather than an afterthought. Service was quick and friendly, and everything came out fresh. Price is reasonable for what you get. These burgers typically run around $9 to the teens, with specialty sammies up closer but still fair for LA. Overall, Ban Ban Burger is one of those places that delivers something different while still hitting the juicy smash burger vibe. Flavor forward, worth the visit, and one I’d definitely go back to next time I’m in the area.

I want to love and support l small businesses so I'm gonna give it 4 star still the burgers are way too expensive to be unseasoned but I will say even tho pretty spicy the grapow burger was delicious. The cali and the wagyu laab burger were well made and beautiful burgers they just had literally little to no seasoning of any kind and the fries were solid also 6$ for em is craaazy tho.

Had a pretty good burger here. I enjoyed the Thai take on it. I ordered the laab burger, but i could see myself falling in love with every sandwich on the menu. Thai tea shake was a lot of fun. The speciality fries are good, but pretty pricey.

I came to Ban Ban Burger for food, but I left with a full stomach and a new life plan. The cashier — an absolutely stunning woman with the kind of presence that makes you forget your name — recommended the chicken sandwich. Naturally, I took her advice. (Anything to impress my future wife, right?) The sandwich was fire: crispy chicken dipped in panang curry, Thai pickles, aioli ...not your average fast-food fare. But as she casually mentioned the Grapow Smash Burger was “a little spicy,” I knew I made the wrong choice. Still, I nodded like a fool. Next time, I’m going all in on that Grapow and maybe finally asking her out. The sandwich took about 15 minutes, which I spent planning our wedding (and also eyeing the Pandan shake for next time). The space is small but charming — a communal bench inside, some solo stools, and a few outdoor tables. For now, 4 stars. For her? Infinity.

I felt like I was BEING ROBBED after eating here! I went here with my girlfriend and I ordered the wagyu burger and she ordered the socal and the only difference was habanero paste for an extra $4!!! The burgers were greasy only came with a few cucumbers? and onions and tasted like in and out burgers and didn’t come with fries in total I spent over $30 dollars for two of the thinnest burgers with one side of fries and we left still hungry. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

Horrible customer service every time I’ve walked in here. I’ve never been greeted with eye contact or greeting. They always have their head down and ask me what they can do for me. I’m always the one initiating eye contact, and greetings. Never once have I been rude to them and I’ve always said please or thank you and I’ve always left at least one dollar in tips. After a year and a half of being a loyal customer, they spit in my face by taking 50 minutes to cook my burger and pretend like I don’t exist when I’m in the store never coming back wouldn’t recommend it. Zero stars wish I had more thumbs to give it more thumbs down. Not worth the $20 meal.
