The Goblin at the Dunes is a not-so-hidden hideaway just minutes from Lake Michigan, and it is absolutely worth the stop. The place is cozy, quaint, and full of charm, with beautiful little knick-knacks for sale that give it such a warm, whimsical vibe. The food? Incredible. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was beyond amazing—one of those meals you’re still thinking about hours later. If you haven’t been yet, go now. You’ll love everything about it.

The food is always delicious and made fresh. Stopped in for brunch. We enjoyed the Benedict, hash, fruity pebbles French toast and the bloody Marys were great. As a bonus the grilled cheese skewer was a nice touch. Definitely recommend!

Live music was wonderful, atmosphere was pleasant and the service was professional! I had the clam chowder (very good) and pot pie. The pot pie was mostly peas and not much protein, flavor was alright. Would not order ot twice but would come back here and try something else if I was in the area.

Cute bar and eatery on the street corner with excellent food options and service. I’m really glad I chose to wander in. The restaurant itself had a classy, fun atmosphere with a few nods to the lake. The food is delicious and fresh with good portion sizes and much of it is locally sourced. I ordered the Honey BBQ Salmon and the Killer Bee Mocktail dining in and would absolutely recommend both. I ordered the pretzel appetizer to-go for my lunch tomorrow and it is massive. Staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

Amazing from start to finish from when you first walk up till you enter.... Food was amazing like ridiculously good... we got an appetizer, 2 entrees, 2 deserts, and a wine and bloody Mary for a little over $100 (worth every penny) and staff was super friendly.... highly recommend.

Amazing! Great bar and restaurant. Location is prime, love all the room and outside portion. Excited to come during the summer. The decor and open lighting is just brilliant! Great spot for a party, date, or get together. Service is excellent, staff works great together. Drinks are delicious, they have creative cocktails and a wide variety of beer to choose from! My absolute favorite thing was the oyster shooter! Try it! I’d get it as a cocktail if I could!

Goblin & The Grocer is a captivating dining spot located ideally next to the Indiana Dunes, right across from the Ogden Dunes South Shore train station. This bar and grill not only offers high-quality dining against the stunning backdrop of the national park, but it also serves up truly memorable culinary experiences. During our inaugural visit—which certainly won't be our last—the food was nothing short of spectacular. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between relaxed and sophisticated, both inside and out, making it a comfortable spot for a refined meal. The patio is dog-friendly, adding to its charm and accessibility. Service was both prompt and efficient, with our server providing exceptional attention that enhanced our dining experience. Although parking can be tricky due to the limited space in their lot, there is additional parking available across the street, which is helpful to know in advance. The menu at Goblin & The Grocer is a parade of hits. The Bavarian Monster, a colossal one-pound pretzel served with assorted dips, is a standout and could easily become a benchmark for similar offerings elsewhere. My chicken piccata was richly sauced and packed with flavor, while my companion's tuna dish was expertly prepared, much to our delight. While the prices reflect the high quality of the food, it is worth noting for those who are more budget-conscious. That said, the dining experience here is exceptional, and I am eagerly looking forward to trying their brunch. Goblin & The Grocer is highly recommended for anyone seeking a top-notch meal in a picturesque setting.

I've visited the Goblin and Grocer on several occasions but this time I was in town again from the bay area to visit my Dad in Chesterton and we decided to do a special Valentine's Day dinner as father/daughter. I lost my mom a few years ago and recently ended a year long relationship so this is what we just needed! This place ALWAYS blows me away, however last night was JUST so memorable. Atmosphere, ambience, service, menu, food all so perfect! The owner is always AMAZING and knows her STUFF! Our server was so GREAT too but couldn't recall her name. So if you ever are coming from out of town or even a local who has never visited this establishment, please do. You won't be disappointed!

We stopped here on a Saturday, a group of 20+ sketchers, for lunch. We did let them know ahead of time we were coming. All the staff were phenomenal! They were happy to accommodate us. The food was excellent! The owner, Dawn, was so pleasant. She stopped by multiple times to check in on us. I look forward to returning very soon!

Found this place on the way back home. So glad we stopped. Service was quick and friendly. The food was really great. The flavors were fantastic hot and fresh. Highly recommend stopping in next time you are in the area. Recommended reservations since table seating is a little limited. Lots of on-trend decor items to look at and shop.

Justin was a great bartender! Really enjoyed his company and he made me a mean Shirley temple, extra cherries. This place has an awesome vibe, and good decor. We didn’t try the food but the menu looked enticing.

Stopped for lunch after visiting Indiana Dunes NP. Excellent! There was live music on the patio, he was fun! The food was great! We both went with house smoked salmon dishes, both were excellent! They had a great wine and drink selection, though we opted for booze free lunch today with all the stuff we still wanted to do! We would def dine here again and you should too!

We split the enormous pretzel and main course. Loved all 3 dipping cups for the pretzel, cheese, creamy horseradish and German mustard. The snitzel was amazing, spinach cooked perfectly, seasoned amazingly. Friendly attentive staff

Awesome place for lunch. Loved the capri grilled cheese, potato salad and the clam chowder. Great local trinkets too!

Hubs and I wanted to try something new for our anniversary dinner & heard this place was good. Our server was super sweet and helped us decide on which was best to try. We had ahi tuna sliders for appetizers, honey soy salmon for me & hubs got hähnchen schnitzel. It was all so delicious. I also had the black walnut old fashioned, exceptional taste! The mood setting was just right and we definitely will be back!

Very cool place! The dishes are unique and the coffee is local (Lakeshore). I had the lobster pot pie, which was very different than a chicken pot pie. We had several in our party and everyone was happy with their food. The prices are a little high for the area, but not too bad. We also had the braised meatballs as an appetizer, they were very good!

High quality food at reasonable prices. Clean and bright decor with many windows and great views. Attention to detail and flavor on the menu items was much appreciated. Delicious food and friendly attentive staff. If you are nearby this is well worth the visit and repeat visits. Places like this are few and far between. KUDOS!!!

Located at Rt. 12 & Broadway, a stone's throw from the Beverly Shores South Shore station and only a mile or so from Lake Michigan. Went for the first time on July 4th. There was a band playing outside and they were serving ribs & brisket from a big smoker to people seated under red umbrellas on a big patio out front. Open space inside with lots of windows & casual table seating. Bar fills about half the room and guests were eating at the bar. Across the room, deli/takeout counter, chalkboard menu on the wall. Friendly staff in jeans & checked shirts. The place looks so... humble. But don't be fooled. Read the menu: Wedge Salad, Raw Oysters... Lobster Pot Pie, Faroe Island Salmon, Roasted Vegetable Hummus... We had Linguini Cacio e Pepe (garlic, butter, parmesan, cracked black pepper) and a side of Roasted Corn that was like nothing I've ever tasted. The flavors were so unique, I can't wait to go back and try something else. They take reservations. The parking lot is small and pretty rough.

Stopped in for a drink while exploring the National Park. Tried their strawberry basil smash and it was amazing. The bartender was very attentive and welcoming. If we were hungry, we definitely would have ate there as the menu had some options that sounded very good.

I kept hearing about this place and decided to finally check it out. Came in on a Saturday evening and they were busy. I'd recommending making a reservation. We were greeted right away and given the option to sit at the bar. The bar had enough space that you didn't feel on top of other guests. The decore throughout was adorable with little goblins tucked away. My husband and I both ordered different schnitzels. My jager schnitzel was honestly as delicious as some of the schnitzel I had in Germany. Overall I highly recommend coming here and I plan to come back.

The food was delicious, the service is fabulous, and the atmosphere is perfect. Across the street from kemil beach, you get that beach vacation vibe but with a peppering of elegance. The place is nice, very clean, and VERY friendly. My fiance and I both had the grilled vegetable ciabatta and it tasted almost like a veggie muffaletta which is great. We had a side of pasta salad which is homemade, and it is phenomenal! If i could order a large batch to go I totally would! For dessert we had their gooey brownies and they were delightful. Also, we had a couple local beers on tap that are as good as expected. Overall, the place is wonderful and i cannot wait to go back. The prices were a little more upscale than usual for Indiana, but it is worth it.

Goblin and Grocer slays it again with their chicken schnitzel dish. I got the Jager gravy to go with it. You need to come here for this dish. Also, it is Galentine's Thursday, and I got a free gift from the owner. All girls do!

We went for dinner and ate on the deck. The food and drinks were great. We ordered 2 appetizers to share for dinner and they were both great, especially the smoked trout spread. Are server was knowledgeable and attentive. A really pleasant evening. Lots of dogs on the patio and served families with children.

My favorite place hands down!!! The food is great, servers are always professional and wonderful, go here year round. Drinks...OMG! Love this place in the summer the most!

The food was AMAZING, perfect after a long hike at the dunes. I had the burger and my friend had the capri grilled cheese and we devoured our food. It is on the more expensive side but I highly recommend it if it’s within your budget.

This place has one of the best wine lists in NWI. The people are nice and food is delicious and unique. Love it and will keep coming back.

Very cute place! Outside of main busy areas is nice, food was great and even for a snack on the way somewhere it was a great experience for me and the wife.

I just love this place! It's consistently wonderful, offering delicious food and drinks in a beautiful and relaxed atmosphere. The service is always excellent, and I love that the owner is actively engaged in the daily operation of her restaurant. She is always kind and welcoming and it just makes the dining experience so much better when the owner is involved. I love the outdoor patio in the summer with live entertainment and the special events they offer, like the Christmas Market. The Goblin Duneside Bar and Restaurant is a local gem that should not be missed. Highly recommend!

Wonderful experience! We are a group of 2 couples that get together every month for date night. We chose this restaurant based on their numerous vegetarian options and interesting dishes. We were not disappointed. We started with the wild, wild burger sliders. Absolutely delicious! The blackberry jam with the wild game meat blend was amazing! We moved on to our mains (2 schnitzel, muffaletta, fancy grilled cheese) and everyone was happy. We ended our meal with 2 individual French Silk pies. From the cute, spacious interior to the delicious food, we highly recommend!

Stopped in on a rainy Sunday with my wife and granddaughter. BEST pretzel we have ever eaten, also the hugest! Rounded that off with a charcuterie tray and some soup. Food was excellent, a little pricey but not prohibitive. Worth the extra couple bucks. Highly recommended.

It's very loud there. We attended a Cocktails and Canvas event and had a great time. We were in a separate room that we could close off but then it was too stuffy. The food........outstanding, we ordered apps and the All Day Sangria that I am going to try and copy for home!!!! All in all I will go back just to sit and dine for dinner.

Very well run little spot right off of Indiana Dunes National park. The menu was a mix of new American and German type cuisine and I Really enjoyed every bit of it! The pretzel appetizer was straight up incredible, and my schnitzel sandwich was also top notch! Sat outside on a beautiful day to boot. Little pricey, but nothing crazy outrageous. Food took a little longer, but again nothing outside of the realm of typical at all. Would definitely recommend.

Goblin & The Grocer is the rare melding of a traditional upscale kitchen, with that of a hip & chic market. Their dining space, bar, and outdoor patio, lend themselves to an abundance of joviality and all-round great times. Not to mention they host seasonal events, such as an Oktoberfest celebration, complete with all the accoutrements you could possibly ask for. For example, there was a Bavarian band in full garb that complemented their themed menu exquisitely. By the way, the key lime pies are absolutely to die for. Next time you’re in the area I’d very much suggest stopping by for a fresh made pie if nothing more 🥧 💯

Wow! This place just opened and is fantastic. Great atmosphere with outside dining. The meals were delicious with outstanding presentation. Nice variety on the menu. We will be back! We were back several times with the latest being in February 2020. The atmosphere, service and food are still very good. I’m reducing my review by one star because I sense they have lost their connection with the local market. We wanted a glass of Chardonnay with lunch. The only choice offered was a $16 glass. That is a higher than average price for similar restaurants in downtown Chicago.

Very cute restaurant inside! Good food options but none of us thought our food was super good. Seems like a great place to just grab a drink though!!

I was in a party of 4. My husband and I ordered the chopped salad. I didn't like the excessive amount of dressing already on the salad. With such a hot day and 4 people, we needed 3 water carafe refills. The waitress brought our bill without us asking and don't even ask if we needed it split. That was odd to me. Not sure I would go back.

The atmosphere is 10/10. A really beautiful place. It's whimsical and interesting and packed full of treasures. Our server was also 10/10. I believe her name was Alexis or something similar. She did a wonderful job explaining different options and how the menus rotated. I ordered the French onion soup. It was ok, but pretty mediocre. The onions aren't caramelized, they are boiled. The broth is light and not super flavorful. There's no bread on top just a slice of cheese melting but not broiled or browned. It was served with a pack of oyster crackers. My husband ordered the Catch of the Day. Our server said it was Lake Superior white fish. It was pan fried and served over a bed of vegetables. It was very good but the amount of food wasn't much for the price. I ordered the Zucchini Noodles with white wine sauce. They came in a decent serving size! They were mediocre. They were barely cooked, which wasn't too bad. The pickled artichoke hearts were a delicious surprise but they were cold (I still ate them!) The sauce doesn't taste like wine at all, it actually tastes similar to the onion soup broth. Light and lacking flavor. It wasn't BAD, it was mediocre. I wouldn't order it again. We shared a small key lime pie after dinner and it was delicious. We'll try again sometime, maybe on the next menu rotation.

Cheerful place with friendly service. Prices a bit high. I had an Italian salad. It was ok but I couldn't taste or tell if it had a dressing. We both had water to drink and the jug of water already on the table is what we had and it was lukewarm. Another server eventually refilled it so it was a bit cold. My companion had the vegetable naan with slaw and liked it.

Edit 2/24: Went for a 3rd time today. Got the Kottbullar which we have gotten 2x before. Sauce broke was inedible. Meatballs were just sitting in a pool of oil. Appetizer came out after the dinner. Also got $9 Brussels sprouts that came in a teeny tiny ramekin that you’d use to make like a little soufflé. Then there was a $3.95 credit card fee. As far as I’ve ever experienced higher end restaurants don’t charge a cc fee. This is for places where you can pay $10-$15 for a meal in cash to keep the prices low… not somewhere you’re paying $9 for no joke 4 halved brussel sprouts. Great experience again. Food was wonderful (even my 18 month old scarfed it all). Staff was friendly and was so cute and cozy decorated for the holidays. If you’re wanting to get out of the city or even out of congested areas of NWI, especially as the weather is getting colder this is where you want to go. Charming place!

Was told it was a cool place. Attempted to call, no one answered. Waitress was not very good, dropped some bread off our appetizer, didn't replace. Sauce and goat cheese was good but all of the bread along with it were hard as rock. Brussel sprouts were good. Clam chowder was more of a light veggie water soup with a few small pieces of clam. Chicken pasta dish was meh. Breaded chicken itself was hot and decent. Noodles were colder, many stuck together. Decent lemon flavor. Clam chowder cup from appetizer was still on the table after I signed the check. Refill your own water since it doesn't seem to be worth their time. The place has potential but certainly left a lot to be desired for a night out.

I hate leaving reviews but this was the most overpriced rip off I’ve had in years. I know how hard this industry works. The server we had was very nice. But almost every dish we ordered was bad and overpriced. Their take on esquites… it was broken cheese sauce with corn. Served with way too salty store bought chips. Oysters were actually good. The 60 day sirloin… Jesus. First, I guarantee this came from Sysco. I ordered it medium rare. It came well done and already sliced. On a bed of wilted spinach, barely sautéed zucchini and cherry tomatoes. A semi competent home cook could have made this better. The mussel broth was pure oil. Combine this with $15 drinks… and we got a $200 bill with tip.

Underwhelming. Due to the time of arrival (a little after 3), there were only 5 plates to choose from which were only appetizers. We ordered the rib tips and meatballs. Unfortunately the rib tips (served with cole slaw on top) were cold and the meat was a bit tough. The meatballs (served with small breads) were better than the rib tips. The other issue was the wait and arrival.of the dishes. We were seated quickly but no one came to wait on us and we were about to leave when a server finally came. It took forever to get our dishes and when the rib tips finally arrived they were cold. The meatballs arrived about 20-25 minutes later. Hopefully things will improve but I'm not sure if I will be back soon.

The food was good and the spacious patio with the bocce game is a nice touch. However, the service was exceptionally slow. We had to get up and find our waitress more than once—just to ask about our food or to pay the bill. It also took a long time to get basic things like utensils and water refills. Hopefully, the service improves because the setting has great potential.

The spinach artichoke dip and the grilled cheese caprese were great. However the ninja bowl (with grilled chicken added) was really just white rice with some raw vegetables and a super old/over ripe avocado with some plain soy sauce and flavorless house mayo (just tasted like plain mayo) on the side. Not really sure what i paid for on that one. Like I said the other dishes were great so I don't know why this one was so mundane and bleh. Add a house asian dressing or sautéed red cabbage with Asian sesame dressing or really anything more than plain rice and plain veggies with soy sauce. So my rating is for the rice bowl since that's what I ordered that's what I'll review. The other dishes would get 4-5*

We went here for brunch on a Saturday. The bar was full but the restaurant was almost empty. Ordered the shrimp cocktail which was decent. Ordered the ninja bowl with seared salmon. It took 40 minutes to get the bowl. The salmon was very overcooked and dry. The dish had overall has no flavor. We should have sent it back. We will not be returning.

Went there today for a late lunch. Probably had the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life. The $23 hamburger was not edible. I said something to the waitress about it and she replied. That’s too bad. Ordered the clam chowder soup never got it And the salad was not fresh. Our waiter seem disinterested and for a $60 lunch I would expect more. That is the last time we will be going back there or recommending it to our friends. Appreciate the reply, but A couple of things. You need to learn how to spell it’s not how my name is spelled and you need a calculator because I did not get 20% off my meal. I think I was given two or three dollars which was the price the Coke. The other things are just a flat out lie I did not eat all the hamburger. I barely ate half of it And the salad I picked at it so both you are lying. There is no chance in hell I will ever come back there or recommend it. Check my bill. If you don’t believe me I did not get a 20% discount and I sure as heck was not offered another hamburger at the end of my meal or whenever.

At first we walked in it was really nice, we were seated and they brought us the wrong menu. Then we had a waitress giving us a judgy look when we were asking and she was hesitant to answer us with a judgmental look on her face. Also they care more about the customers outside then inside, I’ve needed a refill since we got here.

My husband and I came in for brunch and we were sat out on the patio. We waited 10-15 minutes before we were approached by our server. We waited an hour or more for our food. The waitress, Chandaire, had a HUGE attitude. She was rude and hateful. I've never had an experience like this before. I guess it was too much to ask her for refills or for anything. She had snotty remarks as she walked away from our table, shaking her head and rolling her eyes. I left her THE TIP SHE DESERVED!! Needless to say but we will not return. Good luck.

A very regrettable evening for a special Valentines dinner. We waited 45 minutes to be served AND we had reservations!!! My dinner arrived on a bed of uncooked rice- which I returned- while my family finished their dinner, I sat at the table with no plate of food while waiting for the rice to be cooked and returned to the table. - No one removed our dinner plates or refilled our beverages . I had to remove the dirty plates from our table; myself. Our Server was nervous and apologetic… she was completely aware of the terrible service we were receiving -and the incompetence of a continual slow train wreck of service. Tables near our table were also unhappy making for a further unpleasant experience. It was an uncomfortable situation all the way around. Our bill came to $280.00 and unfortunately, it was an unpleasant experience.
