I lived in BS over 30 years. I've always heard mixed reviews of Gills, but don't understand why. Management has been good and bad over those years. However, the food quality has always been average to excellent. I don't understand why people would prefer the chain chicken restaurants in BS. I haven't lived there in 15 years and although I avoid fried foods, I have to allow for Gills when I visit BS. I don't bother with chain chicken restaurants in Fort Worth. That's probably the reason Gills has been consistent in their quality. I've tried the few Gills in Snyder, Sweetwater; and San Marcos and the quality is consistent. I skip the fried chicken until I'm in one of those places because it's just not worth it when you've had Gills. That's my opinion and I hope they continue the tradition the original owner started over 40 years ago.

Very great food and very cheap. great prices and the customer service was awesome. Very tasty. Will be eating here again when im in the naberhood.

I only like the steak fingers and coleslaw here, this meal is always great didnt like chicken very much and the girls at the register are hit and miss with friendliness they could definitely do better in that department

The first time here, we will stop back when in town. Don't let the looks fool you. They have outstanding fried chicken, good Cole Slaw to boot, biscuits are ok.

Wasn't terrible but wasn't great. Not much seasoning on anything

I read the reviews after I ordered. I’m not from this town, just working here. I read mixed reviews, so I am all about being truthful and telling it like it is and how I experienced it. They had no chicken ready and was asked to park and wait. Not a problem, but they seemed to do this to everyone who ordered. The chicken was HOT (fresh) but I extremely bland, totally missed it with seasoning. Actually no flavor at all, just chicken meat flavor and old frying grease. The fries tasted bad due to the old grease as well. The corn on the cob was 100% boiled in water, totally tasteless. The prices were fair $14.66 for a 3 piece, 2 sides, rolls, and a medium drink. If only they would have tasted what they were serving. A good cook tastes the food before it’s served. So my personal opinion is, if you want good chicken, this is not the place. Please try it for yourself, maybe they had an off day, but that’s my honest review.

The chicken was good! Did not like the mashed potatoes or coleslaw. Please make sure to get those biscuits. They are delicious. The drink machine was not too clean. But the customer service was great!

My first visit to Gills was today. The chicken was a bit bland for me. The fries didn't taste like they were salted. I encourage you to judge for yourself.

It was ok. Nothing special. Biscuit was miniature. Chicken was just ok. I'll go to Kentucky’s or Popeye’s the next time I want chicken. Church's chicken needs a location here.

The chicken was pretty good! Got the family meal, couldn't exchange sides or anything it just came w biscuits

The biggest mistake that they made was getting rid of the specials for the tenders they might have lost a long time customer because it was a great deal and was reasonable kn price and they just got rid of it today I'll debate on it I go back or not

Horrible experience, workers were too busy talking to each other or in their phone. No common curtsy to let people know the wait. Specifically there was this girl with a airpod in talking to this guy we wait 40+ minutes just for the food to be decently warm.

Ordered small catfish and chicken. Got home catfish was all crumbled up and tasted like dirt, plus not hot and very greasy. It went in the trash!($10) Husband order chicken with gravy. No gravy given. Order bread pudding suppose to have vanilla sauce to put on if. No vanilla sauce. I tried calling several times, but no one ever answered. The chicken breast, okra, corn nuggets, cole slaw was good. (good thing hubby got 2 breast).
