Opinions de Moxie Wood Fire Grill Binghamton
Don't be fooled by the modest facade; the restaurant is outstanding. Their steaks are perfect and the service is friendly and efficient. Update June 2021: The more I think of it, the more I'm convinced that this is the best restaurant for miles around. We live in Arizona but spend time in Susquehanna County, PA in the summer. Moxie is our favorite place within an hour's drive in any direction. My problem is deciding from among the many delicious appetizers and entrees.
Went here for the first time after a friend of mine said he wanted to try this place, Also for the first time. Arrived for dinner on a Wednesday evening, was greeted by very polite gentlemen who seated us. Our server was a woman, that unfortunately I forgot her name. her knowledge of the menu and wines available was spot on. We both ordered Steak dinners which both were prepared perfectly. Both the food and service were impeccable. will definitely return in the future.
We had a wonderful dinner. The only thing better than all that delicious food , was the best service by KellyAnn. That girl was the best. I owned my own restaurant for over twenty years , my husband and I eat out ALL the time, all over the country , she ranks in the top three ever anywhere. What a keeper. Live 245 miles away, but we will be back. For sure. By the way this is the first five stars I've ever given. Thank you.
My boyfriend and I visited Moxie’s for our 5 year anniversary dinner. The food was amazing and the staff was very friendly and attentive. I have a sensitivity to both gluten and dairy, and the staff easily accommodated for allergens. They provided delicious gluten free bread and made sure that nothing included butter on my plate. My boyfriend and I loved our experience at Moxie’s and we will definitely be returning. The only restaurant I have ever been to that I would give a 10/10.
We went to moxie for our anniversary and had a great time. The food was amazing and the service was even better Bobby was a great server and we definitely will be coming back!
Wish I could give the Service more stars. We went last weekend for the first time, celebrating our 40th anniversary. The food was excellent, the staff responsive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere lovely. We'll be back soon.
Very nice place , good food and reasonable priced .
We loved it. The food was delicious!
Just finally visited for the first time. Our Waiter Bobby was awesome, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was so incredibly amazing up in the loft. I will certainly be back!
We had the blacked Alaskan halibut, venison rack . Both were cooked perfectly! There was also live Christmas jazz music, which was a nice touch to the evening.
We had an event there. It was absolutely the best event we’ve ever had at a restaurant venue. The staff was extremely capable and friendly and The manager Jack was so accommodating and easy to work with. I’d 100% recommend Moxie for an event or just dinner out with family or friends. The private dining room is perfect for presentations.
This is the fourth year we have had our Christmas Party at Moxies and it always great, my team looks forward to it.Bobby the waiter is incredible, he is pleasure and just a great host. We always request him. He is an asset to Moxies.
We came here on a random adventure and were VERY pleasantly surprised! Although this place seemed more like $$$ than $$, the price was well worth it! My steak was perfect cooked and seasoned, the caramelization on it was way beyond a good sear. They make their own ketchup! Their firecracker shrimp was drowned in delicious sauce and still managed to be crispy. The cocktails are great, you get your money's worth because they are STRONG and come with the rest of the mixture on the side. All the little details mattered. This place is amazing!!!
Had the most wonderful evening celebrating our anniversary. Our server Richard was a gem, offering suggestions and answering all our questions. The food was absolutely fantastic. Everything prepared just as everyone requested and truly some of the best food I have ever had. The complementary champagne was a special treat. I cannot say enough good things about Moxie and it's professional staff.
Highly recommend Moxie. From the moment I walked in with a reservation to some place in Miami (my bad there) the owner and staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating. Continue on to the outstanding wait service, and then the great meal, it delivered on every count. Our out of town guests were very impressed, and left with a great impression of a fine restaurant in our town. We'll be back, and very soon!
Price of food was high. High means high. But, excellent taste of food made it acceptable.
First time ever at a Fancy restaurant. The waiter and host were supper nice and very polite. The food was wonderful. I never tried truffle mac and cheese and it was wonderful. I had a spiked apple cider and it was good as well. Will like to come again.
My wife and I celebrate our anniversary here every year. The food is always wonderful, and the service is always great. Everyone was very friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant.
My girlfriend and I decided on a lark to go to dinner on a Tuesday at Moxie Wood Fire Grill. We hadn't dined there in over a decade. What a delightful return. Our meals were exemplary in both preparation and service. Each course was outstanding. Escargot, wedge salad, Delmonico steak, filet mignon and diver scallops. We took dessert home so if it's anything like the meal, it will be a postprandial delight. Cannot recommend more emphatically.
I've been coming here for years! They food is always delicious, the drinks are fantastic and the deserts are luscious ♡ the beet and goat cheese salad is superb.
We just had an excellent meal, our waitress Kellianne was excellent. She was very friendly, walked us through being our first time there. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
The food is the best in the area. We are frequenters and can't say enough. The service is top-notch, friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. We love Bobby and Emily and the staff goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great experience. Whether you're here for a casual dinner, a special occasion, or just drinks at the bar, Moxie never disappoints. I highly recommend!
Was an absolutely beautiful first time experience for myself and my girlfriend, we both will be recommending this establishment to our friends/family and anyone else in between. I wish nothing but the best for the owner/‘s as the experience I had last night with having the owner find find me and my girlfriend a table after I picked the wrong day for our reservations. The owner and two hosts at the front went above and beyond to find us a table for our Valentine’s Day. You made our Valentine’s Day possible so thank you! Congratulations on the success of this restaurant!
When someone came up with the phrase "Don't judge a book by its cover" I think they were thinking about Moxie's. Sure, it's an unimpressive structure in a funky part of town, but step inside and things change. Nice atmosphere, great service, great drinks, great appetizers, great pizzas, great desserts - this is one of Bing's nicer restaurants. I've been here many times - they're consistently good and everything I've eaten here has been delicious. Expensive. Highly recommend.
Amazing experience, Moxies food is always incredible, was there for birthday dinner 6/2/25. Deji was our server and she was great everything was brought out hot and timely!
1st time at Moxie, was very impressed. Wait staff was very accommodating, our waiter (Bobby) was super. Explained all of the specials, very attentive. Cocktails and food were excellent, so many wonderful choices. Great place for a date, a birthday, or any special occasion. A wonderful gem outside of Binghamton.
Our waiters name was Bobby and he was the perfect amount of attentive without being overbearing. The restaurant did not disappoint. We were a party of 7 all with vastly differing tastes and everyone was impressed. We will definitely make the trip down again.
Love Moxie. Great food. Nice atmosphere. Pretty fancy for Binghamton. So good date night location or event celebration.
What an absolutely beautiful establishment! Exquisite decor, 'excellence and service' was the goal of the staff, food was outstanding! Highly appreciated and recommended! They are also open for lunch on later weekdays, accommodate large groups and companies, which I will be considering for next year!
The food and service were spectacular. Friendly staff and very attention. Food presentations were amazing. Food quality and quantity were amazing. All drinks were perfect and very impressive. Overall, I would recommend it to anyone. Best by far that I have been to in my life.
We love to dine at Moxie's for special celebrations. The staff is warm and friendly, and the food was outstanding. We are very much looking forward to our next visit. We highly recommend Moxie Wood Fire Grill for a fine dining experience!"
Moxie was amazing!!! The food was fantastic, and our waitress was really nice. She went through everything on the menu with us. We went for my 30th birthday/12 year anniversary/1 year ago we bought our house, and it was great! The food was excellent, and we will definitely go again. The prices are more than fair for what you get. It was very very good.
Absolutely blown away. First time here Friday night to celebrate my birthday with my fiance. From the moment we walked through the door, I knew this was gonna be an awesome dinner. We got here about a half hour before our reservation, so we made our way to the bar. The entire restaurant is gorgeous. Really nicely decorated. So we had a drink at the bar and then promptly at 7 our table was ready. We sat down and we were immediately greeted by our server Shea. She was a great waitress. Very personable and attentive. Instead of ordering an app, we got their wood-fired pizza. I'm a huge fan of Barstool Sports and Dave's Pizza Reviews on YouTube, so whenever I can try a new pizza I do. Pizza came out merely minutes after we ordered it (benefits of a wood fired oven lol). We got the classic pizza. Topped with fresh mozzarella, a nice tangy sauce and fresh basil. It was amazing. Solid 8.9 for me. We only had one slice each since we didn't want to spoil our steaks we had on the way. And let me tell you, they did not dissapoint. Our dinners showed up a mere 10 minutes after we had our pizza. You can tell this kitchen staff is on point and communicates well. I got a 14oz NY strip and my lady got a 6oz filet with grilled shrimp. She had polenta on the side and I had loaded bleu cheese fries. Literally everything we ate was dynamite. My fiance gave me a great birthday before we even got here, but this place was the icing on my cake. If you're within I'd say 2 hours of the Binghamton NY area, I highly recommend you come here if you want an absolutely top notch dinner that will in zero way let you down. We'll be back more often for sure. Ok, that was from 2 years ago. Apparently I never hit post. Lol. We were just here again and had the white mushroom pizza, brisket Poutine and pad thai. Absolutely amazing. Moxie is definitely a must visit. Unbelievably good food, great staff and a beautiful setting.
An absolutely gourmet dining experience. Everything was incredible including our server Gary.If I lived in this area, this restaurant would be one I frequented often.
Moxies is an amazing restaurant and an amazing experience. The food is amazing and the staff as well as the environment is very welcoming and romantic. I highly recommend!
I came back to Binghamton for my nieces wedding. I heard alot about Movies, and I did not disappoint. Cozy, warm, the server was knowledgeable, fun, kind. I have some sight issues, the pace is a little dark for me. But the food was excellent 👌. If I had been in town for a 2 week stay, they would have seen me a couple of times. It's a shame Binghamton has not fully recovered after Covid. The restaurant was closing at 9 pm in a Friday. I was shocked. 4 stars for sure from me. Great bar area also to meet some friends and share some apps. Great night. I'll be back .
We went here for the first time for my birthday celebration. Hands down one of the BEST meals we have ever had. Brea was an excellent server and was able to answer any of our questions. My husband ordered a featured appetizer - the drunken clams. He said they were excellent. The bread, dipping sauce and house made butter were very delicious. We both ordered a feature entree; Bison Delmonico for my husband and the Texas Waygu Broil for me. Unbelievably great! Everything was cooked to perfection! The wine selection was impressive and the atmosphere cozy and romantic. We finished with dessert and great coffee. It was a perfect dinner experience. Can't wait to return for another great dinner.
We had such a great meal here. The steak was great, the appetizers were delicious, and the service was excellent. The chef was even willing to make us a spinach gratin that was the best we've ever had. Such amazing staff at Moxie Wood Fire Grill! We cannot wait to come back.
On the afternoon of August 5th, 2023, my family and I decided to dine out for dinner. Given that we are a party of 8, finding a reservation was challenging. While Google Maps doesn't allow reservations, we navigated to the restaurant's website and attempted to secure a table for 8. Unfortunately, no available tables were shown. However, by making two separate reservations for 4 people each, we were able to find availability. Afterward, I called the restaurant and requested to combine the two reservations, and they kindly accommodated our request. The restaurant's parking lot is spacious, providing ample space for parking, making it convenient for guests. Our dining experience was delightful, as all the dishes we ordered were excellent, and there was no wrong choice on the menu. Personally, I particularly enjoyed the scallops and the Hokkaido Wagyu Strip Steak. Our waitress displayed exceptional friendliness and attentiveness throughout the meal. Overall, I consider this restaurant to be one of the best dining establishments in the Binghamton area, and I look forward to visiting again in the future.
Had an excellent meal. Definitely going to go back as there were multiple things on the menu that we also want to try however just couldn't order everything in one trip. Service was great, and the atmosphere was also very impressive.
First time visiting here to celebrate my wife's birthday. Everything was amazing and Rachel did an awesome job taking care of us. We will definitely be back again!
Just experienced another exceptional experience from start to finish. The bartenders, Peter and Selena, were impeccably attentive, crafting beautifully balanced, delicious cocktails with ease and professionalism. Peter's charming personality adds a distinctive warmth to the bar, always creating an inviting and memorable experience. The atmosphere and cuisine are consistently outstanding, reinforcing why Moxies remains a standout destination and my FAVORITE choice for a delicious and outstanding experience. From James' exemplary leadership as manager to every member of the staff, the service is seamless and thoughtful. Dusty, Bobbie, and Gary are my usual wait crew and consistently go above and beyond, always making me feel genuinely cared for. Kelly Ann and Emily are also great! You truly can’t go wrong with the care and experience you’ll receive from the wait staff here. A truly top-tier establishment with an extraordinary team. Moxie’s will continue to be my FAVORITE go to for enjoying a cocktail at the bar during happy hour or a sit down dinner with family and friends. Just experienced another exceptional experience from start to finish.
Our recent experiences at Moxies in Conklin are absolutely outstanding, and it was all thanks to James and our recent experiences with Dusty, Bobby & Gary and of course, James, the most recent manager, truly set the tone for our exceptional recent experiences. Janes even stepped in seamlessly as our bartender recently while still managing the floor, and it was impressive to watch how effortlessly he balanced everything. His attention to detail, professionalism, and genuine care for our experience made us feel valued from the moment we arrived until we left. He checked in at all the right times, made excellent drinks, and ensured every part of our dinner ran perfectly. You can tell he takes great pride in what he does, and it shows. Dusty, Bobby & Gary are equally fantastic as servers. They are friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable, making sure our meals and drinks were exactly what we wanted. They ALL work flawlessly alongside James, creating a smooth, relaxed, and enjoyable dining experience. Together, they all go above and beyond to deliver exceptional service. This is the kind of hospitality that keeps us coming back — we can’t wait to return!
We had a fantastic experience at Moxie’s Restaurant in Conklin, and a big part of that was thanks to our server, Dusty. From the moment we were seated, Dusty was warm, welcoming, and genuinely attentive without being overbearing. she checked in at just the right times, made sure our drinks were always full, and was very knowledgeable about the menu, offering great recommendations. Our food came out exactly as ordered and in a timely manner, and Dusty made sure everything was to our liking throughout the meal. It’s clear she takes pride in providing excellent service and making guests feel comfortable and taken care of. Customer service like that really elevates the entire dining experience. We’ll absolutely be back to Moxie’s, and we hope to have Dusty as our server again. Highly recommend asking for her if you’re dining there! Thank you Dusty! You truly made our Moxie experience exactly what we dreamed of!
Our server Gary was outstanding! The food was wonderful and I can’t wait to go back and try more of their menu! The wagyu and lollipop lamb chops were to die for! Highly recommend
Food and atmosphere are great, but our date night was made exceptional thanks to our server Gary! He does an awesome job! It was our first time in and we will definitely be back and want Gary as our server
Bobby is the best! Very knowledgeable, attentive and provided a wonderful experience for us. I have been several times, this was my friend’s first experience at Moxie — we will all definitely be back. Great drinks, amazing food and a lovely atmosphere. Would definitely recommend, especially if you are celebrating!
This was our first time at Moxie’s and we celebrated my wife’s birthday! Our server, Kelliann, did an exceptional job and really went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely evening! The pizza, French onion soup and pistachio salad were DELICIOUS too!
Love love love this place. Service was fantastic. The menu is a tablet providing all food/drinks with pictures and descriptions. Everyone gets bread and butter and the bread and butter sauce was the bomb. Served exactly how it should be, warm and not tough. Drinks were in point. I ordered the Golden Cadillac, fantastic. The ordered the filet mignon with crab and the bf ordered the elk. Both delicious but the elk more so. It was served with a black cherry sauce that makes you want more. It’s good to have a more than decent restaurant close by to actual have great food. Many restaurants don’t have this type of service or food. Compliments to the chef! It’s on the pricey side but the food and drinks are worth it and they’ll definitely be seeing me on a monthly basis now.
Definitely a fantastic stop. Not far off of 81 north of Binghamton. The atmosphere is wonderful. Service was spot on and the food was delicious. I had the tenderloin with Argentinian red shrimp, the shrimp were to die for and the steak was very nice. We also had the scallops that were done on the woodfire grill and they were Smokey cooked just right and very tasty. Nice selection of beers on draft and my cappuccino was the perfect ending.
We stopped by after a spontaneous hike at Watkins Glen Falls ....no reservations, dressed casually (kids with hoodie and jersey), and honestly feeling a bit underdressed. But from the moment we walked in, the hospitality was amazing. The host at the front.... didn’t catch his name ..was incredibly welcoming and even shared some history about the restaurant, which was such a nice touch. Shannon, our server, who was beyond kind and made us feel welcomed ..Not once did we feel out of place, despite how last-minute everything was. If this is the kind of kindness and warmth people around here show regularly... I might just sell my house on Long Island and move here! 😉 oh and the food was amazing
We went there for our 2 year anniversary this past week and everything was great! Our waitress KerryAnn was great! She was very nice and knowledgeable when it came it the menu. We got the pork chop, Delmonico steak, mashed potatoes, asparagus and lamb chops which was all delicious! Great first time at Moxie
We came here for our anniversary and were absolutely blown away with the atmosphere, service, and quality of food. Our server, Shannon, was simply amazing. We highly suggest getting a reservation. The food was outstanding and the steak was excellent. The menu was extremely diverse and the drink menu was just as astounding. They take cards, cash, and Apple Pay.
Made a reservation && was seated immediately upon arrival. Our waiter was very kind && attentive. He even gave us recommendations && made sure we knew in detail the dishes that we ordered. The food was great, hot && delicious. We received a complimentary crème brûlée as it was my birthday. The waiter packed our leftovers for us && made sure we were satisfied. Pricey as to be expected but dining was 10/10, would totally visit again!
Stopped enroute to home. Wanted a prime cut of meat for the evening and the server (Bobby) suggested one of the specials Texas Wagyu. I couldn't say no. Absolutely wonderful service, the entire restaurant was perfect and mood lit, while the beef melted in my mouth. This restaurant is a diamond in the rough. Please take the time to try them out. It will be worth your time and pallet. Starters were firecracker shrimp and traditional French Onion Soup.
Moxie is really good – mostly good food & very good service but just a little bit old-school. I’d love for them to update the decor and refresh the menu a bit to be a little more modern. everything costs extra… Side salad, etc. and it’s expensive night out.
The steak was one of the best every had but when I ordered vegetables I'm thinking place like moxies gonna have fresh vegetables not frozen just was awful vegetables like really yuck steak was so good n u get frozen vegetables for 200 bucks
Service and atmosphere was great. We were a group of 8. My "airline chicken" with a crab cake was tasty, but would have been perfect if the crab cake would have been hot, not room temperature. There are happy hour items that would be good to try for a less expensive meal.
Food was good, variety offered on the menu and everything was cooked to our liking and hot when served. Service was excellent and that would be what brings me back.
This place was unexpected to find. Definitely want to make a reservation and it is on the higher end of the pay scale. The price is worth it though. Food was delicious, steak a bit under cooked for me but very good. My wife had a pork dish that gets a lot of complaints about the marbling in the meat. She thought it was excellent though. Awesome drink selection and the Upstate Brewery Oktoberfest was awesome. We will be visiting again. It has been a long time since i have had food that good and service that polite and professional.
Haven was a wonderful server with excellent attentive service. Cocktails are a bit pricey. Our wine was a nice middle of the road red. The beet salad was absolutely delicious and the pizza was a nice change of pace.
Four stars with each because, well...no one is perfect. However Moxie comes pretty close. Great food, great service and great atmosphere. The bartenders (Nicholas in particular) were excellent (we sat at the bar and had drinks/apps) and we were absolutely thrilled to spend our 16th wedding anniversary here! Four and a half stars on all.
Four of us went for drinks & dinner. Happy Hour had fabulous drinks and we were soon seated. Our waitress was phenomenal. One in our party ordered a pizza and the crust on one section was quite overdone.
We went to Moxie on 12/26 and had an amazing time! Our server Delany was excellent!!! Very knowledgeable and attentive and kind. We sat at the bar before our table was ready and the bar tender made amazing drinks and was fun to talk to. The food was well plated and tasted incredible! My only suggestion is, get rid of the tablets. That really cheapens the experience. Simple paper menus with not too many items is the way to go if you're going for a fine dining experience.
The food was good and the service was excellent. I'm not sure the value is there for a ritzy restaurant I feel if you are going to fork over some good money for food it should nock your socks off but it was just wasn't that, don't get me wrong the food was pretty good it just didn't floor me. We had some cocktails that weren't bad, I definitely feel they could do better with a mixologist for the price point of the drinks. The desert was pretty good. Overall, it was a cool experience but I feel it's a place you go for a special occasion once or maybe twice a year.
Really nice atmosphere, and really good food. Our server was efficient and friendly, while very knowledgeable. Her recommendations were outstanding. The cocktails were the highlight, very well made, and the Creme Brule was out of this world. My only constructive feedback, is that the Filet had NO seasoning, which was disappointing. Filet doesn't have as strong a flavor as other cuts of steak, so you sacrifice flavor for tenderness and really need it to be well seasoned.
First time there while waiting for my party to arrive I had a Double Jack in coke. And it was the best Jack in coke I have had yet the staf were fast and got us a table. Food was expensive but i left full
We found Moxie at the last minute while trying to book a restaurant after my niece’s graduation, and we were lucky the receptionist was able to squeeze us in when other places turned us away. From the moment we arrived, the service was outstanding, and the food exceeded our expectations. We started with the mussels and charred octopus—both were incredibly flavorful. The mussels were some of the best I’ve ever had, and the octopus was perfectly cooked. We also tried something new to me: a Bison prime rib. As someone who enjoys classic meat and potatoes, I was impressed. The bison was tender, slightly sweet, and even more flavorful than beef. The ribeye (Delmonico) was also cooked to perfection. The only dish that fell short was the pork chop—it was a bit too charred for my liking, slightly dry, and could have been a bit thicker. That said, the sides made up for it. The mashed potatoes and Parmesan truffle fries were absolutely delicious. Our server, Kellianne, was a highlight of the evening. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive throughout the meal. If you're in the Binghamton area, I highly recommend giving Moxie a try—you won’t be disappointed.
Lobster mashed was cold sent back came out cold again. Service was very rough and not even real busy. Steak was just ok. with these prices their are better places in binghamton.
We went here on a recommendation to enjoy an anniversary dinner. It’s a difficult one to review. While tasty and enjoyable, I don’t think the price is justified and expected more from the dining experience. Moxie is located far from anything and everything. As it was our anniversary, they offered us a glass of bubbly (Prosecco) which was very kind. For appetizers we tried the firecracker shrimp and Cajun chicken fried egg roll. I was confused to find essentially street food on a menu that also has $300-$500 bottles of wine. Before the main course the server offered us bread with olive oil and pesto. The dressing was good but the bread verged on being dry or even stale. For the entrées we opted for seafood - we had crab cakes and salmon. Crab cakes were moist and tasty. Salmon was generous but unfortunately a bit overcooked. For sides, we added duck fat fries and and spinach. Spinach was normal but the fries were not fried well and far too starchy / used the wrong type of potatoes. Ambience was fine but very dark inside. There were not many other people so the noise level was decent. The service was fantastic, from when I made the reservation on the phone until we paid our bill and left. They put the great attention on service.
Food was decent but overpriced based on quality. Ordered the wagyu appetite which needed a bit more seasoning and the porterhouse for 2 which was overcooked. Atmosphere is a little dated as well.
I was here for the first time for my Birthday, I was there around 5:30 and was almost empty, we had the girl with name Kelly something I don’t remember very well but her service was poor compared to the other waitress that was serving to the tables behind me, I say this because all the menu and the special food for that day I heard from the other waitress that was serving a different table because my waitress just handled the menu and said I will be back when you decide. Long story short because was a lot of things I didn’t like but even water she never refilled for me I had to ask, my glass was empty for over 1 hour. And in the end I saw the other waitress was giving to the other tables cake for their birthday giving a candle making their birthday very nice day, my waitress even that I was maybe the first one arrived in the restaurant, I also told her when she asked me that the reason that I’m here is my birthday she also said happy birthday to me in the beginning but in the end she never offered me that cake like everyone else. and when she said ok I’m going to bring the bill I mentioned to her what about the cake that all this people are having for their birthday how that works? And she acted like ooo yes and ask me do you want that ??? And I saw her and thinking really??? And I didn’t even have a candle or fire like the other people had, she just thru a very small cake in the box. Anyway the food was good but overpriced and I was disappointed how I was served. I chose that place for my special day and paid so much money. Don’t select people please treat them all the same. Picture how the cake look like when she gave it to me. Good luck
Dark and uninviting atmosphere, drinks were pricey, strong but good. Firecracker Shrimp was decent and Pizza was good. Tried the Risotto but was way overcooked, so was gooey and sticky and filled with way too much peas and peppers very disappointing, the wife got lobster mashed potatoes lobster overcooked and rubbery and worst part potatoes were instant potatoes how does that pass for fine dining? If you want to spend a lot of money definitely go here if you want good food look elsewhere
We had scheduled our reservation at Moxie for a Valentine’s Day dinner date. The drinks were tasteful and beautifully made (I had and would recommend the Golden Cadillac cocktail). The presentation of our appetizers and entrees was stunning! With that being said, our server forgot to ring in a couple of the drinks to our table (to which we never received), and our entrees lacked in the temperature department. I ordered the Rotisserie Bison Prime Rib medium-rare, and it arrived very rare, making it difficult to chew. My wife had gotten the Australia Wagyu, which was slightly over cooked (medium-well) with her request for medium-rare. Again, the flavor was there, just not the temperatures. Overall, the ambiance of Moxie is always a treat. With more attention to the dishes and table service, it has the potential to be one of the most fine dining restaurants in the local area.
Moxies has exceptional service and the atmosphere is nice (although upstairs is a little dark). I was expecting the food to match the service, but have to give mixed reviews: The food was great quality, but had no seasoning, sauce or otherwise- just overpriced oven cooked steak, shrimp and salmon. Even the salmon was supposed to be cedar plank, but there was no inkling of cedar (which it was presented on and was chard), or the wood fire oven, in the fish. To make matters worse, they put warm butter and raw garlic on top of the salmon, prior to serving? I really didn’t get it. The food was bland and boring. Honestly, I expected more from Moxie’s - great concept with the wood fire oven, they just need to incorporate flavor into their food. You can definitely smell the wood fire oven, but don’t expect to taste it. If the food would match the service, this would be one of the best in the region - next time we’ll get the pizza…takeout.
Wish I could give this place a good review, but I just can't. For how expensive it is, things should be darn near perfect. My experience here has been anything but. Been there 6 or 7 times and three of those visits I left with a bad taste in my mouth. Latest failure; I ordered a pizza, which came burnt tasting like a greasy ashtray topped with parmesan. I also ordered two whiskey drinks. Apparently, there are two whiskeys with similar descriptions of which the bartender was either unaware or simply did not care to clarify. So I got charged $36 for two single shot whiskeys mixed with water. I will never be back again.
Our “pre” Valentine’s Day evening dinner was a huge disappointment. We ordered Ribeye steaks medium rare and were served with blood raw meat. We asked them to be returned to the grill and were then served with seared blood red raw steaks. The quality of the meet was not worthy of the price being charged. And for those who may want a gin and tonic to sip while waiting for their entree, note on your bill that the restaurant charges for your gin and tonic water separately…. A bit too much for me to want to return. Very tacky. I felt bad for the staff who served us. They were very kind and tried to cover for their restaurant’s poor performance. Our compliments to them for their friendly professionalism and willingness to make our special evening, special…….but not for their employer. Our visit was not the Valentine’s Day dinner I had hoped for. I returned home hungry.
The food and service provided is always excellent. We frequently visit Moxie for various special events. This past weekend we were there for a birthday. Upon waiting for our reservation the restaurant was filled with an angry voice coming from the kitchen. In a very high class environment a chef began yelling and cursing loudly. Let out multiple profanities loud enough for the entire restaurant to stop and turn their heads. A gentleman seeming to be the one in charge went to see what the problem was and the incident ended for a short while. As we began eating our dinner the same chef began yelling his profanities again. This time louder but causing the same reaction. Spending $350 for an upscale dinner should be accompanied by an upscale environment as well. Although this would not be appropriate at any type of restaurant. This type of behavior is embarrassing and very off putting. Do better.
Food was not good. We went for my Dad and I's birthday, a party of 6, all of our steaks were way over cooked-We ordered medium rare and my dads was well done. We went last year for our birthdays also and it was very good then. I'm not sure what has changed but the food was EXTREMELY salty and seemed like it is premade and microwaved. Everything was cold. I think it is overpriced for what it is. My husband and I love going out for nice dinners but who wants to pay that much when they cant live up to the reputation of being a nicer, classy restaurant. There are better restaurants in the area for cheaper. Our waiter was great though. And did have the food remade but our potatoes were all still cold.
We went here to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary thinking of maybe turning it into a tradition. Server was great, food was good, until I found a metal shaving seemingly from a dish scrubber in my Mac and cheese that I fished out of my mouth after I almost swallowed it. Server was extremely apologetic, but no visit from a manager. As much as i would like, I can’t get past metal shavings in my food, especially for the price of the meal. At least it’s a good anniversary story that I will be sharing for years to come.
1st and last time there!! I ordered the filet Oscar. I ordered my filet medium and it came back well done. They ended up taking it back and it was cooked medium finally, but had absolutely NO SEASONING. Very dry and flavorless. Worst filet I ever had! You can get a better steak at Outback as our table next to us also said. Also they never replaced my asparagus that was on my plate I did not get to eat. The Broccoli side was ice cold and cooked unevely. We had to ask for our water to be refilled. For a fine dining restaurant this place is horrible! My plate alone was $64. The table next to us also complained about cold food and how horrible their steaks were. The manager that was on the floor is clueless. He should be going around checking on tables. I also saw one the the cooks eat while cooking. Absolutely disgusting and unprofessional for a fine dining restaurant. Save your money and don't go here!! Worst meal I have had at a fine dining restaurant.
Steak was ordered as medium and came pink in the middle but black and burnt on the outside. All you tasted was the burnt outside. I couldn't eat it. My friend tried it and agreed it was awful. The waitress noticed i was not eating my food and when I said it was awful, she had nothing to say.
Celebrated my brother 40th birthday here and had the most unpleasant experience. We received our entrees cold 1 hour after ordering and then our sides came 20 minutes after that. We were told by the manager in-front of the owner that in a perfect world they would have came out together. My mom reported the food was cold and the manager in front of the owner responded “but you ate it didn’t you?” No apology after I responded that she actually did not eat any of her food. The owners response was we still needed to leave a 20% gratuity because none of the issues was the waiters fault. One person did not get his food until atleast 30 minutes after we received our sides. Bread came just prior to food but after our entrees although we waited an extended time for entrees and they replanted that’s how it’s usually done. The response from staff was most disappointing especially the owner of the restaurant who was unapologetic and unreasonable especially since our complaints was discussed the the manager prior to us eating which he was unaware of. Mostly defensive but when he finally took the time to listen to how our night went , his response showed no remorse . I will never return .
Absolutely unbelievable how unprofessional and rude they are to customers here, Bobby in particular. We had a question on if our Groupon could still be honored as it was expired, not for the promotional value, but for what we already paid for it. Bobby came up to our table and was practically yelling at us asking us what year it is (because it was expired) , would not honor the $50 we already paid, and was incredibly rude over the whole situation. We were extremely taken back by the situation, he completely made all the surrounding guests feel uncomfortable. People were asking us what happened as we were leaving. The food is awful and completely overpriced. For a place that is supposed to be “fine dining”, it is complete trash. I will never spend another penny at this establishment. I have never been talked to so disrespectfully at such a “higher end” restaurant all because we asked a question about a Groupon voucher. Do not waste your time or money here!!!
I had a wonderful experience at Moxie. The staff was pleasant and the food was delicious. The atmosphere was romantic, upscale, and well decorated. However, after only eating a small portion of my vegan pizza, I took it home and chewed glass shards found in the pizza. This is very concerning as it could have been a medical emergency if I had ingested them or caused dental damage if I didn’t eat as carefully as I do. Very disappointing. Update: After this incident, I talked with the manager James about any possible sources for this mishap. The response to remove ingredients associated with the pizza, check with me about any glass breaks, and what happened to me showed that Moxie cares about making sure this does not happen again. James expressed full responsibility and apologized profusely. While this is unfortunately not my first time consuming glass in restaurant food, this is the first time I have been confident that the establishment cares about fixing and preventing the event.
