Opinions de BIG ZUES Barbecue Binghamton
If you haven’t tried Big Zeus Barbecue in Binghamton yet, you are seriously missing out! The food was absolutely amazing — fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was packed with that authentic BBQ taste you crave. The service was just as impressive. The staff was friendly, attentive, and made us feel completely welcomed from the moment we walked in. You can tell they truly care about their customers and take pride in what they do. This is hands down a great place to go whether you’re grabbing a casual meal or bringing family and friends. We will definitely be back! 🔥🍖
EVERY BITE was amazing. I got the brisket and the burnt ends which were fantastic. Tender meet, smokey but not overpowering and bursting with rich BBQ flavor. For sides I had baked beans and mac n cheese which were both outstanding. But here is what caught me off guard. The shrimp salad is a top 5 item in Binghamton NY. I'm not talking just BBQ menu items, I'm talking a top five menu item against every menu in Binghamton. I couldn't believe how good it was when I took my first bite. Stop in, try it, and tell me I'm right.
Food is absolutely fantastic staff was super friendly an owner was awesome to meet, explain how almost all of the recipes were taught to him by his grandparents from the south Everything is cooked low and slow. Which adds so much flavor reminds me of down home Southern cooking. would recommend to anybody, especially try the collar greens and brisket
Everything we've had is outstanding, but our family's favorites are the ribs, mac and cheese, and fried catfish. This restaurant does a lot to support the local community too which we appreciate as we try to do the same, but even if they weren't so awesome in so many other ways, we would still go back again and again just for the killer food. Thank you Big Zues for bringing the smoke in all of the best ways! Dragon Approved! 🐉
Top shelf everything from the restaurant. The food was everything and then some taste wise. I had the brisket platter which was cooked perfectly. I highly recommend this place if your looking for great BBQ.
I came here as part of the Binghamton Restaurant Week promo as I’m new to the area and I’m so glad I did. Once you walk in you’re instantly welcomed to the smoky smell of food cooking and all of the friendly staff who work hard to put out these great portions of delicious food. My personal favorite is the brisket, Mac and cheese, chili, and banana pudding but honestly everything else was great too. Will definitely come back again with friends and family!
Big Zeus is not just a restaurant—it’s a culinary landmark for anyone who loves authentic ribs, smoky barbecue, and melt‑in‑your‑mouth brisket. The moment you step inside, the scent of slow‑smoked meat fills the air, wrapping you in warmth and anticipation. Every dish speaks of patience, craft, and a deep respect for traditional barbecue techniques, making it a haven for meat lovers and comfort‑food seekers. The ribs at Big Zeus are the star attraction, cooked low and slow until they reach that perfect balance of tenderness and flavor. The sauce is rich and tangy, clinging just enough to the meat to complement the smoky undertones from hours in the pit. Each bite delivers the kind of satisfaction only true pit‑master expertise can bring. You can taste the layers of flavor built over time—smoke, spice, and just the right touch of sweetness.
9/10 After waiting for so long and getting excited to try your food, it was delicious, but it would have been nice if I got what I actually ordered. Pulled pork, baked beans and macaroni salad but instead got coleslaw with it. I even confirmed twice with the lady over the phone and the lady at the cash register. I understand mistakes happen just a little bummed out as I was very excited to try your food.
So glad I finally got to try here. Originally spotted it while taking a bus between Rochester and the Big Apple. Was road tripping and had left Rochester around 9 so we hit Binghamton & Big Zues at noon. As we walked in no customers were there so I wondered if they even had food yet prepared. Then just as we sat to start looking at the menu a whole crowd of people came in and before we knew it every booth was taken and people were chatting about BBQ and other good things. I got the spare ribs plate. Probably the Best BBQ deal I have ever gotten and it totally hit the spot and the BBQ craving I’ve been having for a couple of months. It was hard to decide what sides to get but I settled on the onion rings and fried okra. Both were very good and along with the cornbread all three were tasty as leftovers. Which is credit to how well they were made because such things are often not good as left overs or after being in a fridge. (Of course the ribs were good as left overs). And the okra came with what I describe as some kind of sour cream & Dorito ranch like dip that was quite good) My friend who doesn’t eat meat got the Mac and cheese and vegetarian baked beans and shared my side. And he enjoyed the food and experience as well. …I tasted his Mac and cheese and it was very homemade yummy tasting to me. We sadly were too full for the banana pudding and didn’t want to get food coma while driving. But I hope to come back again soon to try it and more of the menu. Great menu. Plenty to choose from but not be overwhelmed. Just wished they had mashed potatoes :). And I love the motto that bbq might not end world hate but it can at least bring people to the table :) Also really love the paper towel set up at each table (so smart & charmingly done) and nice how there’s three big sauce bottles at each table. Great customer service too. Very friendly, cheerful and helpful. And super clean establishment. .A place you can take your mom, grandma and aunt to :).
I loved everything about this place. My family enjoyed delicious food, the awesome staff, and authentic old school BBQ vibe. There was great blues music playing as well in the background. The pulled hog, sliced brisket, onion rings, corn bread, fried chicken, and braised chicken were all fantastic. Oh yeah, the banana pudding was pretty fantastic as well. If you are in Binghamton, do yourself a favor and swing by....you won't be disappointed. I promise!
Amazing BBQ!!! We were passing through town and looking for a nice meal. Boy did we luck out!! Everything looked great and the service was incredibly friendly! I had the brisket and it blew me away! I definitely recommend going and going early! I'll be going again next time I pass through town. Keep up the good work.
This place is TOP TIER. Walk in and the atmosphere is so chill but still has a little energy with the classic rock/oldies playing. Food is incredible. Brisket with the house sauce *chefs kiss* The sweet miss running the register and front of house was super kind and greeted us with a big smile. We talked to the owner and he is so nice; he is very passionate and serious about what he does and you can taste the love in all the food. Worth every penny. The other gentleman who brought our food was also very nice. Wish I caught all their names; my memory is terrible, but I’ll never forget that brisket! Will be back soon!
This place knows how to do real good BBQ! The meat fell off the bone and tasted amazing. Even the sides were delicious. We had the Mac and cheese, Cole slaw, and collard greens, and were all fantastic. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, they made us feel welcome and provided great service, and Zeus the owner even came and personally thanked us for visiting which was really the icing on the cake. 10/10, great place!
Yooooo I thought no one can top Dallas in terms of my Barbecue experience but thank goodness I was wrong. The barbecue here was just simply amazing. Juicy, tender. The big boss wakes up at 1am everyday to start smoking. I ordered the brisket and pulled pork and I couldn’t be anymore satisfied. It was relatively cheap. Highly recommended !
Every bite of every item we ordered was incredible. We had the burnt ends, smoked turkey, mac and cheese, potato salad, collard greens, French fries and cornbread. Even all of the house sauces were delicious. By far, the best barbecue I’ve had in a very long time. We’ll definitely be back. We’ll be bringing friends and family back. And we’ll absolutely be using Big Zue’s for our next catered event.
I've never run so fast to write a review. So, this is my second time visiting this place. The first time I ordered a general meat platter that had a mix of ribs, pulled pork, brisket, etc. The meat was a little dry, but better than most Binghamton area 'BBQ' we've had. But, the second time, I ordered the fried catfish meal plate. My full order was fried catfish, salt potatoes, and macaroni salad with cornbread. So, before I even opened the bag, I could smell the fishy odor coming from the catfish which immediately turned me off to the food, but when I opened the container, I was baffled? confused? at what I saw. The catfish resembled a chicken cutlet? Veal? The pieces were small and red. In short, they looked nothing like the pictures provided on the restaurant website but more so, they looked nothing like a piece of catfish I've ever eaten. Fried catfish is a very straightforward meal to make, my meal resembled nothing I've ever seen. To be honest, the fish tasted and resembled bad tilapia, but I can't confirm so let's just assume it was catfish. I took a bite and winced, at how nasty the fish was. It is certainly not of good quality, and also likely is a bit spoiled. It was lightly fried? Burnt? I don't know what I ate, but I had a visceral reaction to the taste and texture, so I said, okay, let me try the sides. I took a bite of the salt potatoes and nearly chipped a tooth. The potatoes were not cooked through so they were still raw/hard, there goes that side! Next was the mac salad. It was also a bit dry. Not terrible, but certainly not creamy and good. The cornbread. A classic...was sadly ruined by the fishy order that took over the entire container the takeout was in. Lastly, aside from this specific order, I just wanted to point out how 'exclusive' this restaurant is. Over the past year I've tried to get food several times and have only been successful twice because every other time they're closed with little to no notice. That should've been a sign. Advice to MGMT/Chefs: Consistency breeds quality. Currently there is none in the hours, food, or service. I've also added photos of what the 'fried catfish' is advertised as on their site versus what I got.
