Opinions de Remlik's Binghamton
Great food and great service! We went here to celebrate a graduation. Top notch in every way. A fine array of culinary delights. Rack of lamb was as smooth as you can imagine. High quality cuts of beef and experienced chef. It's pricey but Well worth the splurge. Recommend!!
What an amazing experience!! From the appetizers to the dessert!! Every thing was delicious and we were so well cared for by the staff!! I'm not sure what kind of magic happened in the kitchen, but I've never had such an incredible pork chop in my life!! Wow, just wow!!!
Last week we celebrated my daughter’s 40th birthday at Remlicks. It was such a lovely evening. They made her feel special from the minute we arrived. The service, food and atmosphere were perfect. We can’t stop talking about it and are looking forward to going again soon.
Beautiful place. Great food. We ordered the oyster Rockefeller and quesadillas for our appetizers and we were very satisfied. The dinner entrees were delicious. Will visit again
Outstanding restaurant! Delicious food and drink in a beautiful setting! Excellent service! Reservations are most highly recommended - the restaurant is not large and during our midweek, main-seating visit every seat was taken. Not inexpensive by local standards, but worth every dollar and then some. 😁
Pricey, but the food was divine! (Chilean Sea Bass)And there are less expensive options, such as Salmon burger. Wait staff are great. Inside, the building is architecturally interesting; lots of character. Very accommodating about allergies. Plenty of parking.
I love Remlik's! My family and I very much enjoy going to the restaurant for more of an upscale dinner. If you are looking for a place with great food, ambiance and service, this is the place for you! Everything from the sushi to the entrees to dessert is always delicious and worth coming back for. The food is pricey, but well worth the money. Meals at Remlik's are always enjoyable and I would highly recommend stopping by.
Went for a valentine's dinner. The drinks were strong and delicious. We got the steak tartar as an app and entrees were the scallop dish and salmon dish...delicious. also the creme Brule and mousse for dessert were the perfect end to the meal. Will definitely be back soon and recommend to others for a nice night out. Prices are on the higher end, but absolutely worth it
Everything was fantastic.... I've been here a few times but this last time is very special. We went around 4:00 p.m. and it was very quiet. Our server Michael was attentive without being overbearing. The bartender made excellent strong Irish coffees. We had the oyster Rockefeller, French onion soup Caesar salad the pork chop and filet mignon and for dessert creme brulee and tiramisu. Everything was excellent.
All aspects of fine dining. From the service to the plates offered to the decor. We were a party of 9 and I'm still getting texts on what a wonderful evening and dinner they enjoyed. We enjoyed appertizers of Oysters and Clamari. Cocktails galore and entrees of Pork Chops Steaks and scallops. All served and cooked to perfection. Please let me mention our severer Amy. Truly a well done job WELL DONE. Thanks again Great experience. Not a local but definitely will be back
We had a lovely evening on Valentine's Day. The atmosphere was cozy, the food and drinks were delicious. Our waiter, Micheal, was friendly, funny, and efficient. We will definitely go there again!!
My favorite place in Bing! We love getting there early and sitting at the bar. Their service, food atmosphere is unmatched!
I wish I could give more than 5 stars. Excellent food. Professional and friendly staff. Owner visited our table to ensure highest quality standards 👌.
Wow! What a great spot. My wife and I came from out of town for a quiet anniversary getaway dinner. The staff was fantastic and very attentive. Remlik's offers a great selection of fresh seafood or select steak entrees, classic feel-good pastas and an ample drink selection in a casually upscale atmosphere. Portion sizes were generous (even for this portly fella)! Everything we ordered was hand made and fresh - from appetizers to desserts. My wife enjoyed the scallops and risotto; the chicken parmesan was delicious - fresh sauce (not jarred). Dessert was just insane, lemme tell ya. While I'm not sure when I'll be back in Binghamton, this place is definitely on our list.
One of my favorite spots in Binghamton! The food is superb, especially the sea bass. The service is exemplary and the luxurious/contemporary vibe in the restaurant and the outside patio made the entire experience 10/10 worth while. Their seafood is show stopping, especially with the frequent fish deliveries. Their oysters taste as if they were plucked from the sea 10 minutes before. If you’re looking for a great night out, I without a doubt recommend Remlik’s!
UPDATE: Second visit was just as spectacular as the first (see review below)...even though they had 2 parties going in adjacent rooms while we where there...the quality and service did not suffer!!! Can't wait to visit again. Original Review: My father taught me at an early age...that you get what you pay for. This goes for restaurants as well. We paid good money for GREAT food! First time here for me and my wife. Got there just as they opened and where one of the first to be seated. The decor is breathtaking...but we came for the food. It did not disappoint. It's presentation matched the surroundings perfectly...upscale and delicious. Server was wonderful...was there when we needed something but was not "in our face" so to speak. Christmas music played in the background and stayed in the background...you only hear it when you decided to listen to it...if that makes sense. The food was some of the best we've had here in Binghamton. It would easily compete with any fine restaurant in any major city...NY to LA! We will be going back. If you go during this Christmas Season, be sure to look up over the door...there is a "Major Award" proudly displayed...you'll know what I'm speaking of if you are a fan of the movie "A Christmas Story". Hopefully you read this review to the end...my words can not do them justice!
It was a wonderful meal, terrific atmosphere, efficient waiter, Colin, BUT, the icing on the cake…. When Uber driver failed to show after one hour, owner, Eddie, drive Art and I home. Need I say more. Eddie, thank you. No wonder you have such a successful establishment. Kindness goes such a long way. . .
I got the sea bass croquettes and the veal saltimbocca, amazing flavor and some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. Had an incredibly helpful server that helped me decide on what I was going to get, overall amazing and friendly experience! Only qualm is the poor lighting, but that’s negligible honestly.
Nicest restaurant in Broome county by far. Best place for a nice fancy date and incredible food. Deff on the pricey side but worth it if you can afford it… For 2 I usually spend $300 for drinks, apps and entrees. Gorgeous artwork and atmosphere is nice too. The bar is 10/10 on selection… wish they still had the separate bar menu that was easier to afford!
Best upscale restaurant and with raw bar in this area!
I have only dined here 4 or 5 times, but each time has been a very pleasant experience. The appearance and taste of the food is exceptional and the unique historical atmosphere is memorable.
Our party of four people had such a wonderful evening at Remlicks. We ordered the sea bass, sausage ragú, crab cakes and tomato gorgonzola soup. All was delicious and perfectly prepared. We ate on the outdoor patio which was perfect. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. We will be back soon!
Service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. The acoustics of the place are messy, so intimate conversation during a busy period is not ideal, but the feeling of the place is a good compensator. The wine list could be improved, but it's not a bad list; a few more selections would help the list match the menu better than it does. I've thoroughly enjoyed myself on every visit, and any quibbles are minor at most. I know I'll be back whenever I have the opportunity.
Just had the most wonderful experience! Celebrating our 3rd dating anniversary, we heard Remlik's had great food. And that was no lie!! This was the VERY FIRST meal on a celebration night that was ABSOLUTELY ON POINT!!! Our waiter, Fred, was great and very funny, professional, and personable. And my Pear French 75 was amazing! Thank you for a great first experience!! We'll definitely be back!! Thank you!!!!
I love this place! Every time we eat here it is an exceptional dining experience. The food at Remlick's is always perfect in taste, presentation, and portion! The staff are always professional, courteous, polite, and never leave you waiting. We just love the ambiance. The architecture is absolutely breathtaking. I love taking in all of the beautiful art pieces around the restaurant. I highly recommend dining at Remlick's!
Went with a large group for a work dinner and were in a private dining room. Calamari appetizer was very good. Ordered ribeye Oscar style (with lump crab meat & hollandaise). Steak cooked perfectly and very large. Hollandaise tasted good but was overly thick. Served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Mash was a bit dry. Dessert was Tiramisu which was a pretty large portion and very good. Coffee was terrible-don't bother. Signature key lime martini was delicious! Great service and great atmosphere.
Service was exceptional and the food was outstanding. Excellent dining experience from start to finish.
We enjoyed a beautiful dinner at Remlick's this past Friday for Valentine's Day. Everything we've ever had has been absolutely flawless. We usually share oysters and the tuna poke. I ordered the pork chop milanese for dinner and it was outrageously delicious. I never order pork chop and selected it just to try something different and am so happy I did. I also cant recommend their cucumber martini enough. This is place is pricey so it's definitely a treat but is definitely the best place in town to dress up and eat some amazing food.
I had the Chilean sea bass at Remlik’s and it was delicious, perfectly cooked and served with fresh asparagus and a flavorful puree. The overall atmosphere was upscale yet relaxed, making it a great spot for a nice dinner. My only small critique is that the tables were a bit too close together, which made it feel slightly less private. Still, the food and service made up for it. Would definitely return!
Put sweet and simply, Remlik's by far is our FAVORITE restaurant in town. We have been coming frequently the last 3 years and have never had a bad meal or been disappointed. The food, service, and atmosphere is phenomenal. You absolutely get what you pay for. Took our daughter last night with us for her 22nd birthday for her first visit. We requested and had once again our personal favorite server Fred, who we now request and like always, he treated us like royalty. His attention to detail is top notch! He remembers everything that we like and treats us beyond fantastic! We will just finish by saying that each time now that we come to eat, my husband mentions in the middle of the week "Remlik's and Fred" great combo! Until next time...
Honestly, I had a great time here. The food was delicious, and the service was very friendly. The sushi was very good. I got the rack of lamb, and it was a little underseasoned for my taste but very well cooked and overall was delicious. The mased potatoes were excellent, and the entire table raved about them. It is a little on the expensive side, but still worth the experience. Especially if you're celebrating.
Picked this place at random during an overnight stay in Binghamton. Was able to be seated an hour before close without a reservation, on a weeknight when they had a large group. Beef tenderloin tip appetizer was amazing. We ordered branzino and scallops for the main courses and both were delicious. Service was professional and attentive. Will definitely be going back.
First time here and I loved it. Great atmosphere, food and service.
Very pleased I came even though I was alone. Instead of dessert, I could have 2 appetizers. Spicy tuna roll and green salad with white balsamic were perfect. Ahi dish left a perfect heat on the tongue with a cool slaw on warm rice to add an interesting dish. Remlik's beat Number 5 this time.
As one of Broome county’s premiere restaurants, Remlik’s is outstanding. The appetizers exceeded all expectations. I love their steamed clams. As the pictures indicate, we had the Tuna Ahi, NY Strip, lobster tail, lamb chops, chicken parm, etc.. The meats were cooked exactly as requested. Everything was seasoned exquisitely. Our server, Stephanie, remembered our orders, was VERY attentive, and epitomized all that you desire in high quality service. For the finisher, the creme brulette (sp?) was second to none. A superb experience!
This was a great dinner. For a nice date night out or a special occasion, or just for some great food this was a nice place. It sits inside a large building downtown, the ambiance was perfect and the staff was knowledgeable and hospitable. The steak tartare and oysters were a delicious start and the steak and lobster were cooked perfectly. I will be coming back again.
Get atmosphere at the restaurant. The calimari was excellent with the spicy mayo sauce they had. Wasn't too greasy. Sea bass was well cooked and seasoned. The soup was really good as well. I'd come back for another meal in the future.
Excellent, high end experience. Our meals were excellent. Yes, expensive, but great! I will stop in and enjoy the bar / bar seating area on my next visit.
Great atmosphere and the staff is so friendly. Would definitely recommend this fabulous restaurant. We all enjoyed our meals and the professional hospitality. A nice evening out.
Remlik’s Oyster Bar in Binghamton was a fantastic experience. The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the service was absolutely stellar—attentive, friendly, and professional without being overbearing. The food looked and sounded amazing on the menu, and it delivered just as well, making the whole experience feel special. Definitely a spot worth returning to.
This is by far the BEST service and attention I have received in a restaurant! I got married today and this restaurant was highly recommended and it met the expectations and then some! We tried getting a reservation online to no avail so I called and I was informed they were booked solid but I explained we tied the knot today and really wanted to experience a great meal in a great restaurant on our Wedding Day and they accommodated us! We got seated in a very romantic corner of the restaurant, we received a great Welcome from the Hostess to the coat check to our fantastic waitress Rebecca! The food was phenomenal and we felt transported to a European steak house with a Class A vibe! I really can’t say enough! I am forever grateful for making our special day extra special! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your Extraordinary Service and Food! Sincerely Mr. & Mrs. Muniz
5 star food service for binghamton. Excellent variety of food, the oyster have always been fresh, service exceptional, and its just a nice location/"vibe". If there are no tables available the bar is always available for the full menu. Ask for Jessica or Kiana as your server, have had them multiple time and nothing but exceptional service!
Remlik's was amazing!! The atmosphere was artsy & hype but also relaxed. The service was phenomenal & the food was divine. I highly recommend Remlik's as the perfect date night destination & Fred is hands down the best waiter ever!! He was absolutely a significant portion of the vibe that lead to such a wonderful experience & evening!!
We were in town for a Binghamton University Hall of Fame induction ceremony for my good friend and teammate. We had a celebration dinner Saturday evening at Remlik's. Everything was top notch and first class. The pork chop was perfectly cooked and fabulous. Highly recommended. Thanks so much to all the Remlik's staff for making it a memorable experience.
Ed and his crew offer warm and impressive service in a gorgeous setting. The architecture. The light. We love it. Your drinks are never empty and they have the same quality taste and pour regardless of who makes them. The food is excellent and blows Station 45 away if you have any idea what refined taste and food preparation is.
I was at E-Class Barbering Experience on State Street in Binghamton, NY owned by Eric Ballard in getting my haircut by the Master and I asked him about a great local non-chain restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. Without hesitation, he immediately recommended Remlik's Grille & Oyster Bar and his other barber and operator Anar Doski chimed in about how great the establishment is. I asked Eric about what he likes there and he said that they are known for their Filet Mignon, Pork Chop Milanese, Calamari, and their Oyster Bar amongst other items. I asked him if reservations are required and he indicated in the affirmative. I immediately called Remlik's at 03:24 PM on a Friday and made reservations at 07:00 PM for two because I had to drive back home to Whitney Point to get dressed and then return to Binghamton. Remlik's Grille and Oyster Bar is an elegant, beautiful, upscale, and cozy eatery with casual attire offering great food, beverages, and desserts. They have a smart menu that is not too busy but has something for everyone! You can have a delicious and fabulous meal and drinks coupled with warm, friendly, and attentive customer service without riffraff. The establishment is definitely a popular place with the locals and it is definitely a refreshing change from the chains! It can get very busy in there and so make reservations early, arrive on time and you won't be disappointed! Upon entering, we were immediately greeted by the hosts. They were very friendly, pleasant, professional, and had genuine smiles. We were immediately seated, provided with menus and water. Sophie was our server and she smiled, welcomed us, and immediately introduced herself and took our beverage orders. I had a Southern Tier IPA Beer and my wife ordered a Stella Artois Beer. I immediately told her that my fabulous master barber, Eric Ballard- owner of E-Class Barbering Experience had recommended the restaurant and knows Edward the owner. We asked her for her personal recommendations and favorites as well. She immediately recommended the Filet Mignon and the Pork Chop Milanese. Truthfully, we do not generally order appetizers but the food looked and smelled so good we had to try something. With that being said, we wound up ordered the Calamari and Oyster Rockefeller since we do not consume raw oysters. For my entree, I had the Pork Chop Milanese with a fresh garden salad and white balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. My wife though torn with their great selection decided on the Filet Mignon Medium-Rare with fresh garden salad and white balsamic vinaigrette as well. Sophie quickly brought out fresh baked bread and butter. We particularly loved how all of the items were served properly "in stages" as opposed to a smorgasbord plopped on the table. Everything was absolutely delicious and both meals were prepared, portioned, cooked to perfection, and were served hot. Sophie was very attentive, friendly, efficient, personal, and happy to help! In short, the fabulous food and awesome customer service made for a great dinning experience! Best of all, we had another meal since we could only eat half of our food due to eating the two delicious appetizers as well as the bread. Thus, our leftovers served as Saturday morning breakfast the following morning. We will definitely be returning here to try some of their other phenomenal entrees and specials.
What an amazing birthday dinner this was it was not only classy, but professional. if you’re looking for a family dinner place for upscale and for occasions, this is the place you’re looking for… or if you’re looking for a place away from kids for a date night out this is it too😀 everything I had tasted amazing very fresh and the plating is amazing.. waiter was very nice and polite! The only thing is that it was very loud in there but that’s the only negative thing that I can think of 💕 definitely a must try. I will be coming back.
5 star experience!! Well done Remliks! Our experience began with a warm welcome at the door, a short wait for our reserved table and we were quickly greeted by our server who was attentive throughout our dining experience. She even made a great menu recommendation which I appreciated because I was going between two specific entrées. Needless to say, the Pork Chop was amazing, tender, juicy and wasn't over powered by the milanase. The cold water lobster tail was a nice add on but I do think a little over priced; 37$ is a bit much, even for fine dining. Unless you are in a major city, which we are not. That said just a little honest feedback Remliks, not enough to not return. I also would highly recommend the Buffalo Calamari!! And a big thank you for the Birthday Desert!! 😁 Plan to drop some coin, it is not cheap but you will enjoy your dining experience!
Went here for lunch. Outdoor seating was nice, but the view is kind of depressing. Fresh air is always nice. It was busy the day we went. The poor waitress seemed to be working alone in the outside area. It was a bit of a wait to order our food, but the food arrived pretty quickly. The food was pretty good. Will go again soon
Very lovely venue. They did a great job maintaining the vintage interior. I was with a large group and we ate on the spacious patio. Everyone enjoyed their meal. I'd have given it 5 stars except the patio is not easily accessible for those with physical challenges like myself. Stair access only.
Its good, but last couple of times food was missing seasoning. Cheesecake was delicious.
We have been to Remliks many times and the food is always decent, however the draft beer never tastes fresh -- it has no foam and seems stale. Now, I understand that this is more of a wine-and-cocktail place, but if you choose to have draft beer on the drink menu at an upscale restaurant, beer taste should rise to the occasion.
Attentive and personable server well-versed in “It’s my pleasure .” Busy bar area with the regulars. Drinks enjoyable! Good food but not exceptional. Al la vodka sauce thinner than we prefer. Salad plentiful and soup tasty. Skimpy with shrimp for entree. We will explore other menu options at future visits.
Decent food, good service. Waits can be long sometimes
Have been a handful of times and will begin by saying I always enjoy a meal here. One thing to be aware of if you haven't been here is that dining room can be quite loud on a busy night, not in a bad way, but something to be aware of. What keeps me from giving 5 stars is that the food comes so close to being perfect but consistently misses on a few points - Oysters will usually have some shell fragments, some struggles getting temperature and seasoning consistent and correct on proteins - but overall well composed plates. Great menu selection of traditional American fare, and a great bar. Only place around the area of know of where you can find a glass of Pappy Van Winkle.
Portions are small, but food is delicious. Service is always outstanding. Melinda goes above and beyond to make sure my large crowd is always taken care of. I do wish the place was bigger and there was a little more room to maneuver around, but it does have a close and cozy vibe.
Smells very fishy when you enter the restaurant which can be a bit off-putting. But what you really need to be mindful of is if they offer you soup or salad with your entree they will charge you an additional amount, without letting you know it's not included in the price! I mentioned it to the bartender and she said "it says it in the menu," Since I looked at the menu online I never saw it. Food was good overall, just a bad experience because of the bartender.
This place is awesome. Visited there to help celebrate a birthday and we had a great time. The ambiance was relaxing and the food was great. Not one person from our dinner party had a complaint about our dishes. Their chocolate cake was fabulous (genuine coco taste that I have not experienced since leaving the Caribbean). If you think it is pricey I can honestly say it is worth it!
You cannot go wrong with Remlik's. Solid food, good experience, consistent service. We go there for celebrations.
Fresh oysters, delicious lobster, potatoes were cold but not worth complaining over when the rest of the meal was delicious. A group of extremly loud, boisterous people were seated shortly after us. We couldn't hear one another over their obnoxious outbursts. It got to the point where my husband and I started looking around for cameras to see if we were part of a prank for a TV show. At that point, we just had to laugh the whole costly meal off. No fault of the restaurant. Delicious Desserts, and after dinner drinks were in order, and did not disappoint.
A quality establishment with a variety of cuisines to choose from! At our table, we had sushi, a fish fry, greens and beans with linguini, a roast beef sandwich, and a pasta dish with prosciutto. It was all a little pricy for my liking, and my greens and beans dish had way too many beans, but overall, I was very pleased with the food and service!
Love the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant but noisy. Food was good but not great especially for the price. Salad and dessert were best part of the meal. My entree was salty and mixed Veal Marsala with Saltimbocca. Risotto was under cooked. Nice bar.
Service was excellent, food good but not outstanding. The rack of lamb had breadcrumbs with mustard on top. Not crispy enough. Garlic and Rosemary would have been better. And though they knew it was my birthday, not even a cupcake with a sparkler! Seemed mean!
First time here with my wife last night for Valentines Day dinner. The restaurant is absolutely gorgeous. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. Especially our waiter. I wish I could remember his name to give him the credit he deserves. Super nice and on point with his service. The food was very good but I also feel like I can get an equally delicious dinner for half the cost. But it was worth it for the experience. One side note. If you’re going to get the double cut pork chop, ask for it medium/well. It was excellent, however mine came out medium/rare and had to be re-fired to come up to temp. By the time it came back out, I could only eat a few pieces because I was too full from sharing my wife’s filet. That’s the only thing preventing me from a 5 star recommendation. I definitely will go back for some drinks and to try some menu items that were unavailable due to it being a holiday.
Visiting for college graduation. Food tasted like any other restaurant serving the same things. Nothing great at all. The prices were ridiculous for the quality. The environment did not feel very luxurious. Bathrooms were disgusting. The building is old and not vey clean looking. I bet with the lights turned up it would be almost appalling. Definitely, without a doubt, not worth the money.
Great drinks and food but we were seated outside on the patio on a 90+ degree day and would have appreciated a table with an umbrella. We asked the waiter for an umbrella as did the table next to us but was told an umbrella was unavailable. Wait until cooler weather if an inside table is not available .
This is marketed as one of the best fine dining establishments in the Binghamton area. And it is nice, good place for a special occasion or to entertain visitors. But in my opinion just average. The restaurant is in an old building refurbished, many of the old fixtures and interior remain. But diners are all close to each other and noise and ambience is high and lacking Wait staff was okay. Our waitress seemed to be just going though the motions. Just another customer in her long shift. Cocktails, I had an Expresso Martini, okay could have been shaken more and the waitress spilled some of it before serving with no excuse. Then a Jack and Coke pretty hard to mess up. Food, again just okay. Had fried calamari seemed frozen and microwaved, french onion soup. I've had much better. Again just seemed warmed up. The main entree Rib Eye steak. Was cooked medium rare as requested. But the cut was super fatty. I literally had to cut out about a third of the steak. Not really great when you are paying over 50 dollars for the entree. I will say the whipped mash potatoes and the asparagus were excellent. Overall just okay, not too many other places in Binghamton to choose if want fine dining. Just don't expect a NYC Chop House experience.
Went for my anniversary with my partner. Staff was friendly and rather prompt (though we had a wait for our food after ordering of about 40 minutes). The clementine drink was fantastic. Food was okay- the oyster sampler and the beans and greens were very good for appetizers, but the crab cake entree was too soft and a bit flavorless and reminded me of frozen. The one on the crab cake sandwich was similar. Probably will not return soon due to disappointing quality at the price point.
We made the reservation at 7pm two days ahead, and we arrived on time, they still let us wait for like 5 mins and got us a very small cube table. I understood we are only two people and this place is always busy but given the fact we make reservations two days ahead and they couldn’t even save us a decent size of table. It’s disappointing. It could be just my personal preference. I don’t like small table, my impression got down when I see tiny table. Beside that, overall is ok, the food is outstanding and most of the staffs are nice. But it’s not quite the same as I expected from the reviews.
My husband and I went for a date night. Our waitress Rachel was very nice. Our steaks were bland, the only thing that made it edible was the sauce that's an extra charge. $200 wasted. I make better steaks at home. I will not be back.
Went in for restaurant week and we were pretty disappointed. We ordered some oysters and they had shells in them and were not properly cleaned. We saw tables all around us get bread service but we didn’t get any, the sushi appetizer was 3 tiny pieces of sushi and the shrimp appetizer was 3 tiny pieces of shrimp. The steak was tiny and the mashed potato tasted like cafeteria potatoes. The flavor of everything was just mediocre and the bar was so loud that we could barely talk. The service started off well and then got worse as the evening continued to the point where we felt maybe we were being ignored for doing the restaurant week menu instead of the regular menu. In general we felt like the moment we chose from that menu, everything went downhill. All in all pretty disappointing for what is supposed to be fine dining.
Service/A+: Friendly and attentive Drinks/A: Decent selection, delicious execution. Food/C: Completely mediocre. Atmosphere/C-: Faded and dated, faux-Italianate. Some inexplicable design decisions. Although the staff was lovely, this seemed the type of place for those who prioritize how much they talk about spending on dinner vs. the quality of such. I wouldn't actually recommend anything we had. The seafood was overcooked, the steak required a sharp knife, and the dessert was unexceptional. The pricepoint works hard to give the illusion of fine dining, but the experience is distinctly not. Get a nice drink at the bar, but go elsewhere for dinner.
My wife and I ate at Remlicks last night. The chicken piccata that I ordered was so heavily salted I could not eat the dish.
I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the dining experience my guest and I had at your restaurant on Saturday, January 11th. The purpose of this review is to formally make you aware of incidences regarding several aspects of our visit, which, unfortunately, fell far short of our expectations. We made a reservation for two, specifically requesting a private booth due to the special nature of our occasion and my recent spinal operation. I reiterated the necessity for a private, secluded booth to the hostess when making the reservation and received confirmation that a private booth with walls on three sides would be reserved for us. Additionally, our reservation for 6:30 PM was confirmed. Upon our arrival at the scheduled time, we were informed by the hostess that our booth had been allocated to another party with more people. This decision was highly disappointing and unprofessional. Instead, we were seated in the main dining area, where the tables were uncomfortably close to each other, and the noise level was exceedingly high. This setting was far from ideal for a special occasion and made it difficult for us to enjoy our meal. After voicing my concerns to the hostess, we were relocated to a table in a different room and provided with a pillow to sit on. This attempt to rectify the situation felt inadequate and unprofessional. During our meal, we ordered a bottle of table wine, Filet Mignon, and Chilean Sea Bass. The portions were notably small, with the Sea Bass measuring approximately 2x4 inches and the Filet Mignon weighing no more than 6 ounces. The side dishes included three asparagus spears and a small scoop of mashed potatoes. The salad was served on a plate typically used for coffee cups. While the quality of the food was satisfactory, the portions were insufficient, and the overall pricing felt exorbitant. I left the restaurant feeling hungry and disappointed. Additionally, the wine list was unclear. My date and I ordered a bottle of table wine priced at $25.00. However, when the bill arrived, it listed the wine at $50.00. Upon inquiry at the bar, I was informed by the manager that the $25.00 price was for a half bottle, which the server failed to mention. The manager acknowledged this oversight but maintained that the charge was valid. In hindsight, we should have considered dining elsewhere after the initial seating mishap. Overall, the evening was marred by the small portions, unclear wine list, noisy atmosphere, and the hazardous condition of the parking lot due to ice and snow. The check totalling $153.00 was excessive. Our server was very kind and friendly, working very hard so I gave Fred a 30% tip for his efforts. I hope you will take my feedback seriously and address these concerns to improve your service for future patrons. A prompt response would be greatly appreciated. Sincerely, Henry Gerard
Apps were the only highlight. $60 ribeye had silver skin on it, in case you don't know that means it wasn't trimmed correctly. I had to rip it out of my mouth in front of my date. AND it gave me food poisoning. So that was a waste. Staff was cold and seemed annoyed we were there. Won't be back. Ever. Save your money. I'd rather go to chili's.
The tables were far too crowded, close together. People seated 3 feet from our table could hear our conversation. Seats were sort of uncomfortable for a taller man like myself. The tables themselves were too small. Service was cordial, kind, accommodating, respectful and patient. Food wasn’t that great. The shrimp cocktail appetizer was so small. For 21$ we got 3 big shrimp, felt like a joke. The veal saltimbocca was drenched in gravy which was not very tasty. This was a very expensive dining experience and not worth it at all. I will not be returning. Why dine here when I could have spent a quarter of this amount and had a better time and better food at a lower end restaurant?
8/28/24 Update: not long after I posted this review, I received a phone call from Remlik’s apologizing and asking what they could do to make it right. That isn’t why I wrote the review. She suggested a gift certificate, and I told her to do whatever she thought was appropriate. She took our address, and we are still waiting. If you are trying to make something right, and you make a suggestion on how to do that, you should follow through. Empty promises, and it will be a long time before we return. Remlik’s has been our special occasion restaurant for a long time, even having our son’s wedding rehearsal party there. We went last weekend to celebrate 2 birthdays. We were there 15 minutes early, lots of empty tables, but were made to wait till exact time of reservation- probably because the waiter was too busy. The waiter was also serving the large event room so we were left waiting frequently. We were served by numerous people, including the manager serving our meals. My strawberry basil margarita had no strawberry flavor. My husband’s manhattan was missing the cherry. The pork chops (which are normally melt in your mouth delicious) were burnt on the outside and extremely rare inside. The oysters had fragments of shells shaved off along with the oysters (might expect this at a dive bar- not Remlik’s). Worse meal and service we have ever had there. For the prices we expected much more.
Tonight was my first time experiencing (FINALLY ) this restaurant. We were celebrating my Birthday! We sat at the bar, Bartender was very nice- sorry cannot remember her name- curly hair! Super sweet and attentive! Drinks were great! Food was not cooked properly and of the temps we did not choose. Lack of flavor. I would go into detail but that’s pretty lengthy. Over all not impressed. Is this Binghamton’s Fine Dining Food?
I cannot recommend Remlik's. Despite oysters that have historically been pretty good and okay cocktails, the service has declined in recent years and the food has too. The calamari was greasy and inconsistently cooked, with an off aftertaste from the oil. The pasta and protein pairs across the board were outright bad with unpleasant sauces and what i can only hope was frozen chicken / veal. The hosts/esses were not very attentive to the handful of guests waiting for tables or those newly checking in. And the wait staff checked in very infrequently and rushed to step away after every interaction. When we spoke the first time, our waitress left immediately after we provided a drink order before we could mention our desire for apps. Service from the bar was slow to boot so we spent a long time waiting to order without drinks. Between that and the wait for a table - despite arriving on time for our reservation and an almost empty dining room full of set tables - it was a long, slow, disappointing experience for food we could not finish eating. Factoring in that we went elsewhere to eat after made this insanely expensive too, well beyond the $100 plus a head we spent to give them this last chance at proving binghamton with an upscale dining option.
I was such a huge fan of remliks, I have gone here for my anniversary dinner for years, today was the worst experience I have ever had there. It took 2 hours just to get my meal and then I had to find my own Tupperware in the cabinet because my waitress was never around. So disappointed will rethink coming here anymore
The food was shockingly bad, truly for a place as classy as this I expected better. I do not recommend anyone order the chicken parmesan as it tastes like a TV dinner. I hope they have improved and it was a one off disaster in the kitchen.
Food and service were phenomenal, the owner/manager is rude, and seemed drunk when I was there. I saw her interacting with staff, and was disgusted. Avoid this place at all costs. It’s unfortunate, because everything else was good. But I won’t support someone that behaves like that.
It’s unfortunate, but this place is slowly going downhill. I’ve seen the change the last few times being there. Although The quality of food and presentation is good the dishes have definitely changed. New cooks new manager something is up. The service isn’t as good either long Period of time before seeing waitress. Sad to say because I like it here, but it may be time to start looking elsewhere as a go to spot
Dinner during restaurant week with my mom. Very disappointed. My mom was so looking forward to this as she has lived the history of this building and I helped care for one of the Kilmers as a teenager. We both ordered the three course steak dinner. The shrimp appetizer tasted like a low end Sysco frozen product thrown in the fryer. Ordered my steak medium rare and my mom ordered medium well. My steak was absolutely raw in the middle which is not medium rare. My mom’s medium well was VERY well done. Not a sight of any pink and tough to chew. Had to return mine to the kitchen while my mom ate solo. We dined in a back room labeled “office”, not a horrible space but not welcoming/warm either. Totally felt like an overflow space. Will Not be on my list for recommendations to friends and family. Update 9/20/24: I realize some restaurants do not respond to reviews which is their own personal decision, however, since writing my review I noticed that Kelley picks and chooses who she tries to connect with to rectify a lousy dining experience (and there are many listed here). I called Kelley to learn why she manages bad experiences the way she does. I left messages for her with Amber on 8/22 and 8/23. Both times I was told that Kelley was in a meeting and would get back to me. Both times I called were far before the dinner crowd so I would have a chance to connect. Almost a month, zero effort from Kelley to call me. I looked at other lousy reviews and saw that Kelley told one customer that she would mail them a gift certificate. Reviewer states no gift certificate received. Wow!! Crazy. I checked out this business more in depth, thinking “I wonder if the owner knows how terribly Kelley responds to lousy experiences”, she is one of the owners!! Omg, can’t make this stuff up! Kelley, I’m totally unimpressed by your lack of interest in improving your relationship with the community, you should take that $100 I spent at your restaurant and go to a class on decency.
Honestly, the least flavorful “upscale” place I have ever tried. None of the dishes that we have tried were good, except the scallops. The soup with Gorgonzola was awfully salty so we asked to “water down” to take away the salt. They put cream but it hardly made a difference. My ahi tuna was absolutely cold, and the arugula salad felt like it just came out of the fridge. The whipped mashed potatoes were missing the salt. And the chicken was just not tasty at all. Basically most of the dishes were very bland, either too salty or not seasoned at all. I hope they can fix their food because at least their environment is nicely put and the interior looks great.
