A Delightful Step Back in Time with Amazing Food and Service This was my first time dining at Fyfe Restaurant, and I was immediately taken back by the warm and nostalgic atmosphere—it truly reminded me of diners from years gone by. Walking through the cafeteria-style setup was a treat in itself, with an incredible variety of options. Everything you could possibly think of was offered, making it hard to choose! The staff were so kind and welcoming, which really enhanced the experience. I had the pleasure of chatting with the sweet lady at the register, who even told me about the breakfast they serve—I can’t wait to try it next time! For this visit, I had the country fried steak with lima beans and collard greens, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were comforting and truly hit the spot. I highly recommend Fyfe Restaurant to everyone looking for great food, friendly service, and a bit of nostalgia. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

One of the few meat and 2/3 experiences left in the city. I don't eat this way often, but sometimes you just crave the comfort food of your childhood. Fife's is Always delicious if that's the food you're craving. My favorite has always been the trout almondine. Always a massive piece of fish and large portions of some of the best Mac and cheese, collard greens, and iced tea in town. Great Fried Green Tomatoes too. I usually get it to go, and the carryout box is literally full to capacity. Enough for 2 meals.

Wow. Someone told me about this place. And I am so glad I checked it out. Them pork ribs were so tender!!! Quick. Delicious. Prices ain't too bad either!! I will be back. Just like the guy that works there said.

The phone stayed busy so I wasn't able to call in my order but I was able to get in and out in under 20min. Croquette with grits and scrambled eggs hard and an order of chicken wings. Not pictured was the side of bacon that didn't make it home because we were hungry. Plate was large enough to share.

I had been told this place had the best breakfast in town but despite having been here for 8 years and only living an hour away previously, I had never been. We went for breakfast and were able to get a booth immediately. It took a little bit of time to decide what we wanted to get not because the menu was so daunting but because EVERYTHING sounded good. We finally ordered 2 plates. First was with eggs, grits, bacon and toast. The second was with eggs, rice, smoked sausage and biscuits. We also had a pancake to split. It was all great. The usual expectation was that we would need to put some salt in the grits and rice and we had to do that but it's understandable knowing it's smarter to let some foods be seasoned by each customer. Everything else was great. The biscuits weren't heavy, the meats were cooked well and everything was well worth it. This place truly lived up to the expectations. Thus was a great experience. The waitress, Melissa was also great and the price of these meals was amazing. This is easily one of the best places for breakfast in Birmingham and I will definitely be frequenting this

My favorite place. I started eating at Fifes in 1973 when i was in high school. Meals were $1.25 back then. My favorite was the Trout Almandine with tartar sauce. All of their veggies were great.

Birmingham staple. The owner and staff are amazing. It literally feels like you are walking into their home kitchen and getting a great home-cooked meal. Love this place.

This place has a very friendly family atmosphere. The staff treats you like family and makes sure you are served well. The food is all quality soul food from the smothered pork chops to the baked mac and cheese 🧀. There is also free refills on the drinks when you dine in. The sweet tea is awesome 👌🏾. Big portions for little money. You get your sit down meal in a to-go box with a portion size that begs to take some home. For breakfast I liked the eggs and 2 fluffy, thick pancakes. The portion that we received as cured ham plate with egg, grits and wheat toast must have weighed in at 5 lbs. Old school meat and three with outstanding breakfast. Why not 5 stars? Everything comes in styrofoam and plastic.

Fife's is a cafeteria with a lot of heavy gravy type meat entries and a good selection of other very Southern foods. You are served large servings and the folks are very friendly. The food is served in styrofoam with plastic utensils even if you eat in, but did see a great deal of takeout orders. The place seems to be a neighborhood favorite as most of the customers were known patrons. The sit down tables areas were stark and minimalist. I learned that the restaurant had been there for decades and was started by a well known Birmingham family. I am Southern and did like the food, but at my age I prefer to eat more healthy. Over all I give it three stars.

Tried to call today to coordinate a large catering order for an upcoming event. The person who answered the phone said “nobody’s here that can do that”. I then asked what would be a good time to call back and discuss, the person then hung up on me. Glad to spend my money elsewhere!

Terrible. None of the food I wanted was there. Server was rude and seemed annoyed from me just ordering. Bad options, not flexible at all. Forgot my butter that I asked for, and their togo packing was a joke. Never coming back and wouldn’t recommend.
