The food was fantastic and really good quality for the price. The atmosphere was quiet and inviting, and the service was superb. The owner even stopped out to talk with the tables more than once.
ike the owner clearly pours his heart into every detail — and on my very first visit right after my haircut today, it showed. The food was exceptional: fresh, bold, perfectly seasoned flavors that blew me away with every bite. For a smaller spot, the restaurant is absolutely stunning — a relaxing vibe with that perfect Adirondack touch inside through warm woods, rustic accents, and cozy up-north charm that instantly puts you at ease. Left impressed and already planning my return — a true local gem!
The owner is A-mazing. So friendly and personable. The food is excellent. I had a chopped brisket sandwich and smoked baked beans. Just yummmm!
Upstate NY smoked meats bbq restaurant. We had the brisket poutine, the French dip, the poutine burger, and the bacon board for an appetizer. All the choices were fantastic. The prices were reasonable and the service was excellent.
I’ve heard a lot of great things about this place & decided to stop there tonight on the way home. The company was so inviting & easy to talk to. I walked in with my fiancé and there wasn’t enough seats at the bar and a man offered to get up to make space for us. After good conversation with patrons at the bar & employees behind the bar I realized that man was the owner. He took the time to talk to every single person sitting at the bar. Him & I talked about how I have been a bartender/waitress for 9 years and about life - First time meeting this guy & he took the time to chat and gave me a lot of feed back that I will hold onto and open my eyes to. You want to have a good time, good food & service, ice cold drinks, amazing atmosphere & be surrounded by true people, this is the place!
My husband had the poutine burger. Best burger ever. Whoever made it could be my new best friend. I had the meatloaf. Absolutely wonderful. Very unique and delicious
Place is super clean! Friendly atmosphere, owners are super friendly. Ordered a pickup order for a dinner at home and it was packaged so bread wasn't sloppy and everything tasted great! They even have a reward program that wasn't pushed great experience overall!
Great restaurant with delicious smoked meat. We were pleasantly surprised by the buffalo cauliflower which was tender with a wonderful buffalo sauce. Friendly staff and a plentiful beer list. A great place for a substantial meal at a very reasonable price.
Excellent, quick service. Waitress was already coming with another drink as I was finishing my last sip. Hands down the best brisket I’ve had in NYS, poutine burger was excellent, mashed potatoes obviously made from scratch. This place is worth every penny, We will be back.
We stopped by for dinner on a weekday. Friendly service, and a big beer selection. We ordered the pickle fries and those were the best fried pickles we've had. They slice the pickles into spears like French fries and they came out crispy. Our dinners were good, food tasted fresh and well prepared. Only complaint was the steak was overcooked, I ordered medium rare and it came out well done, but still juicy and tasted ok.
This was our first visit to Bear Creek Restaurant in Brewerton, and it won’t be our last! We arrived just after several other parties were seated, and the host let us know there might be a short wait for food. Drinks (Diet, no ice & Raspberry Iced Tea) came out quickly, which gave us time to enjoy looking over the menu. The menu is fantastic — a true variety with something for everyone: burgers, brisket, salads, pasta, and even tempting desserts. I ordered the infamous Reuben, and it lived up to the name. The thick-cut marble rye was perfectly grilled, the corned beef tender and flavorful, and the balance of flavors spot on. I only wished for a little extra sauerkraut on the side — it was that good! My husband went with the Texas Meatloaf, which was outstanding. It’s packed with peppers and jalapeños, topped with a delicious sauce, and served over creamy five-cheese mashed potatoes with smoked corn layered on top. He couldn’t stop raving about it. Despite being busy, our server checked in on us several times and made sure we had everything we needed. The service felt attentive without being rushed. The atmosphere is warm, comfortable, and welcoming — perfect for a casual night out. There’s plenty of parking, and you can get to Bear Creek easily from both Bartell Rd. and Miller Rd. It’s clear this is a place locals love, and now we see why. We’ll definitely be back and will happily recommend Bear Creek Restaurant to friends and family. A hidden gem in Brewerton worth visiting more than once!
On this week’s episode of Iron Chef… I really feel I’m not too far off on saying that. What should I get into first? The welcoming and friendly service to the nice décor or the amazing food. Let’s start with the food. I like to try new drinks, and when a restaurant has a whisky/bourbon-based drink, I’m there. That being said, the Papa Bear’s Bourbon is delightful. Made with double shots of bourbon to give you a nice stiff drink, it pairs nicely with the orange bitters, peach and ginger ale to balance the drink to give you the desired smoothness. The added Rosemary gives additional dimension that only grows over time. I don’t often brag about salad, but I actually wanted more. The house Italian with parmesan has the right amount of bite and is very nice. The romaine lettuce is fresh and cut into smaller pieces, the way I like it. Let’s talk about the main attraction. The Ribeye Platter. The side choices I went with are the Onion Twigs and French Fries. Natural cut fries are the way to go all day every day. No one can convince me otherwise. The Onion Twigs with dipping sauce was hard to stop eating. The ribeye was cooked to perfection. I love my steak cooked medium, and have been hesitant requesting it cooked this way, as many places don’t know how to temp meat properly. The steak was cooked flawlessly and seasoned with just a little salt, pepper and garlic. The most tender and flavorful ribeye I have ever had at a restaurant. This truly needed nothing else on it, ya don’t mess with perfection. Side note: my wife ordered the Smoke and Onions Burger, that came with their signature black onions, and she let me try them. All I have to say is move over maple onion jam, there is a new sheriff in town. How about the Bourbon Macchiato Pie. Truly a slice of heaven, it is divine. The textures and flavors are lovely, and diverse. The warm bourbon butter sauce raises everything beyond compare. This experience is, dare I say, transformative. You may think I am exaggerating, but I think may have briefly reached another plane of existence. The portions for everything are large, and the prices are reasonable. I mentioned before the welcoming and friendly service, so let’s talk about that. Our waitress was so nice and conversational. The owner took time to visit tables and talk with patrons too. I really appreciate this kind of interaction, it is so personal. Even though it was our first time there, we felt like we were catching up with old friends. By the time we left, I knew more about what was going on in these people’s lives, than I know about some of my relatives. We will be returning again and again.
This has got to be the best Ruben sandwich I've ever had!!!! No shaved deli meet here! Nice cuts of tender, melt in your mouth, juicy meat fill this sandwich. The poutine is awesome with chunks of, what I would call beef pot roast with gravy. The waitress was very nice and the atmosphere is pleasant. Highly recommend this restaurant!
We've been meaning to give this a try and were not disappointed. The pickle fries were perfectly cooked and the spice in the batter was a pleasant surprise. The burger was cooked as requested and juicy. The pub chips could have used a little salt when pulled from the fryer but still good.
This place is great. The decor is top notch, the atmosphere was wonderful. The new owners and location are great. For a place not on the water I feel $7 drinks is a bit pricey. They make good food as the old place did. I will say if you're in the area try it out. Just be ready to pull out your wallet.
Food was good once it arrived but it took 10 minutes to get a server and another 15 minutes to get our first drink and the place wasn't full. Soda was flat and tasted funny (ordered diet pepsi but i don't think that's what they serve) the ketchup was sour like it had expired (both I think are off-brand types)- waitress said its meant to be sour? Kinda ruins the burger IMO.. I came with my 11 year old daughter and we managed to spend over $60 (before tip) after a burger, mac n cheese, an appetizer and 2 soft drinks. I always loved the old Bear Creek on Rt 11 but don't see myself going back to this version. Prices are too high for the service and off-brand offerings.
This was my first time there and I was not impressed. You can still see burger king atmosphere and the food was subpar . I can't believe you charge those prices for burgers and then have the nerve to charge extra for fries. To top it all you dont sell hot beverage. I have had better burgers. The fries was cold as well. Your server when we gave her the bill she assumed the change was hers she just said thank you and never asked about change back we had to tell her bring back the change. In reading all of your bad reviews instead of saying they are lying maybe you should listen to there complains and fix the problems .
I ate here earlier this week, and the burger was good so I invited my husband to come this evening with me.We were greeted nicely by the server and we ordered an appetizer and I decided to try something new on the menu (a pasta) and my husband had a hamburger and upgraded to fries. The appetizer was good but not enough sauce to get through so I asked for another small cup of sauce since there was barely any in the first one. The bowl of pasta was very large however it was so soupy and there were only five shrimp (I had upgraded and added Shrimp for an additional 7.50) pasta sauce was supposed to be a creamy cheese sauce but I couldn't taste any cheese so I asked for some Parmesan. (Since the waitress didn't come to check on us, I got up each time we needed something and had to ask her because she was in a corner chatting and wasn't coming to our table to check on us.) My husband enjoyed his hamburger. My pasta was hard and soupy and lacked taste. The waitress didn't seem interested when she asked us if we liked it and really knowing if we really did or not. I think the thing that bothers me quite a bit was that they charged for the small portion of dip for the appetizer as well as small portion of Parmesan cheese and didn't seem interested in knowing if the food was up to par or not. I don't think we'll be going back and I regret having brought my husband there, although he did enjoy his hamburger 😁 But was disappointed with how few fries there were in the upgrade... that they also charged for. I have never written a review before but I guess I was pretty disappointed with the experience and the lack of interest in knowing if their client was satisfied.
This place has a sort of local charm but as an unbiased traveler off the road, I found the experience to be lacking. The sirloin steak was a tough little lump of meat that barely yielded to a knife. It's not that hard to make a sirloin steak palatable; you marinade it and/or tenderize it with a hammer- I learned from the waitress that theirs do not benefit from either. The garlic bread was simply toasted bread with parsley - no trace of garlic at all. Most places give you plain bread for free with a steak, but this place charges you $5 for it - and calls it something it isn't. The broccoli was unseasoned and overdone, the fries were fine. I pointed out the false advertising on the bread and though it seemed to offend her greatly, the waitress took it off the bill. The receipt however bore a $.50 charge for the butter and a $1.00 charge for the tiny souffle cup of mayonnaise I asked for. I couldn't resist only saying that I found it a little humorous that they were charging me a dollar for mayonnaise and goodness graciousness, this earned me a lecture on how tough times are, the price of everything is going up, and it takes extra time for the kitchen staff to put the mayonnaise in a cup. The education on our economic climate, thankfully, came free of charge.
I only give it one star because it doesn’t allow me to do none!! One of the rudest men/business owners I have even met! I don’t foresee his place lasting if that’s how he treats his regulars!! *Response to the owner: Mike, thank you for your response a while back. I only came across it recently when something reminded me of the review I posted a few months ago. I agree that some people have forgotten how to act. After reading your response I felt I should share more details, so you don’t think I was being dishonest or have forgotten how to act. First, I wanted to acknowledge that you have hardworking, friendly staff. My review was based on my last experience when my boyfriend and I stopped in, as we had many times before. It was 20 minutes before closing and as soon as we walked in you loudly said something along the lines of “Oh no, not tonight! We are done serving! I have a softball game in the morning!” Meanwhile, the bar was almost full with patrons. This was heard by everyone in the bar. It was embarrassing and we felt singled out, so we left. You are absolutely! People are entitled to their opinion and tastes, but that does not make it okay to be rude. Also, you may want to review how to professionally respond to a customer.
After reading the reviews I will "NEVER" visit here. Yeah the photos look cool but making fun of someone with Huntingtons disease that's all I need to know about this place. Funny how the owner always comments on reviews that bash the food from not being good but never stated an apology on that particular review. This place sounds gosh awful. If you are looking for a kind place this definitely isn't it. Maybe you guys ought to go into selling insurance or something. Here because you don't know what it is and you rudely bashed someone even though I know what Huntingtons disease is and you don't.... read and maybe you will learn how to be kind. Huntington's disease (HD) is a fatal, inherited neurological disorder causing progressive breakdown of nerve cells in the brain, affecting movement, thinking (cognition), and mental health (psychiatric symptoms). It results from a genetic mutation (CAG repeat expansion in the huntingtin gene on chromosome 4) and is passed down in an autosomal dominant pattern, meaning a 50% chance for children if a parent has it. Symptoms, often starting in middle age (30s-40s), include uncontrolled jerky movements (chorea), balance problems, mood swings (depression, irritability), memory issues, and eventually difficulty walking, talking, and swallowing, leading to severe disability and needing full-time care. There's currently no cure, but medications and therapies manage symptoms, with death often from complications like infections or falls within 15-20 years of symptom onset. For you to lose a customer over this is Great for you guys. Maybe you will lose more. I am ashamed to know that people like you are in the restaurant business. Food brings people together but you have to one serve good food secondly you need to learn how to be kind to your guests. I hope this doesn't get lost in the review section of things.
