Love this place, but not the man host who tries to seat every new party in a corner and then has an attitude if you ask for something better. He tried to stick us in a corner when they had all open booths, and when we asked for a booth in a better location, he had such an attitude, but moved us. Then, another couple came in and he sat them right next to the bathroom and they asked to be receded and he had an attitude, but did move them. Then the next couple that came in next to the bathroom. I don’t know if it’s a power trip or what this is but he should clearly not be a host there. The food is always consistently great with a terrific quality and you can tell the ingredients are not cheap. The atmosphere is always wonderful and a little nostalgic as some booths have jukeboxes. I like the quality of their meats, chicken and their potatoes. I have not tried any pasta yet, but a friend of ours told us it is always perfect. The food is always fresh and you don’t have to worry about parking because even if the lot is full, you can move into the next lot only a few feet away that has plenty of parking as there is a Kohl’s in that lot. So go check out this gem of a diner and don’t let some kid on a power trip seat you next to the bathroom or a depressing corner. I could not submit this without saying how lovely Maureen the server is. Always friendly, makes sure you get everything you need and checks on you regularly.

Always a pleasant and yummy experience at our favorite diner

This was a very nice diner, it was clean and well maintained. The staff was exceptional. The food was delicious. I had a shrimp spinach wrap and the tiramisu. It was the best tiramisu that I ever ate! I will be going back with the kids.

Been here many times, and always had a great experience. More recently, I came here with my girlfriend and we ordered mozzarella sticks and burgers. And our expectations were definitely exceeded. The service was great, the mozzarella sticks were top notch, and the burgers were cooked to our liking. I recommend this place to most people I know and I'll be back many times to come.

I believe in giving credit where credit is due I'm an over the road truck driver and this is one of the best breakfasts I've had in a very long time. Not only was the food hot when it arrived to me but it was good and actual good meal on a hard road that I rarely get. thank you for the to the kitchen staff and the people who prepared it and thank you for sending utensils without having to be asked.

Stopped here after axe throwing for a bite to eat. Six of us had a variety of dishes from pancakes with bacon; eggs & sausage, burger with fries, cheddar cheeseburger with curly fries & steak with mashed potatoes & stuffed shrimp! Red velvet chocolate chip pancakes are an absolute must. Tasted like cake for breakfast. Good burger and chicken and waffles. A lot of chicken with the waffle and the chicken was bone in fyi. Good prices and friendly staff. Would come back. Just think they should make the chicken boneless with the waffle because you have to pick the chicken off the bone to eat it with the waffle which is a little bit of an inconvenience but the chicken was cooked very well and tasted crunchy which paired good with the soft waffle.

Excellent orange juice, possibly the best I've ever had. Eggs Benedict was cooked perfectly to my taste. The frittered French toast looked delightful and my daughter said the waffles were amazing.

The waitress I had was very sweet..The pancakes were ok, everyone likes them differently, they were thick and fluffy, I like them thin and moist and Im not one of those people that drenches them in syrup and butter..The rest of my breakfast food was delicious, I would suggest to use your own judgement on the pancakes..

Good food and fun waitress!

Went here on a nice sunny day. I overheard that today was their first open since the pandemic shutdown. Facility is outdoor dining for now and the set up is a huge tent in the front parking lot that's cordoned off. The seating is mostly covered with some off to the side. I sat in the sun to get the exposure and it was a nice day with a breeze. I was quickly seated by a very energetic and friendly waitress. Ordered iced tea, burger medium well with swiss and bacon, and curly fries. Burger was juicy and delicious. The fries came with a couple of onion rings which both looked like they were oil soaked. They didn't taste like it though. The appearance may have been enhanced in the bright sunlight. (I make my own at home in an air fryer so oily fried foods are "novel" to me.) I overlooked all that as I needed to be out and support a closed dining establishment. In the end, all were great. As soon as the bill came, I just gave my CC. I signed and gave a very large tip to help the staff. I'd like to visit again to make sure that the five stars I am rating is still well deserved.

Excellent! This place was perfect in every way! We stopped in on a Monday night, on our way home from a business trip, and we are so glad we did. Our food was delicious, there was no waiting for seats, nor was there a wait for our food to come out, coffee was on point, blue granite tabletops, seconds off the 84, a very quick off and right back on, but the very best part was our server. He was so attentive, got everything just right, made sure we had everything we needed, it was service how service should be! Thank you Tyler, you were awesome, the best part of our experience!

Great food...portions are hearty. I had the roast beef special with split pea soup. Debra V was our FANTASTIC server. She was cordial, brought refills for the drinks before we could ask, and was helpful with menu choices. We couldn't ask for more. Atmosphere: Great family atmosphere, light background music to compliment the American diner decor. Perfect!

One of our favorite places to stop . Weather it's breakfast, lunch or dinner we love the food and the people. Dorothy has to be our favorite waitress, always a smile and a conversation. Highly recommend the chocolate cake!!!! Along with everything else . Had the crab cakes today, they did not disappoint.

My husband and I always enjoy diners so we decided to try this one since we were in the area. Our waiter Dustin was awesome! Very accommodating and went about and beyond any requests. The Nacho's we ordered,, with a few requests was over the top delicious and so far has beat our favorite restaurant in Kingston. 🌮☺️. I didn't get a picture but I did of my outstanding Greek salad!!! Fun, retro atmosphere. I had the blueberry pie (warm) and it was delicious! Family's food was honest food and generously portioned, great for a roadside stop. Would definitely recommend. Server was efficient and very friendly, no complaints!

Beautiful restaurant with amazing staff. Ordered a pastry and it did not come out of the oven in time before we left so the waiter apologized by giving us 2 free ones of choice. Pancakes were really delicious, I do wish the apples on my pancakes did not have the peel but overall a great meal!

I have been here a few times over the years starting when my mom wanted to check it out traveling from Conn to NC. Turns out we all loved it. This past weekend I was in area overnight so back again I went for breakfast and boy they didn't let me down. I tried the Farmers Market Special this past time and it was great. Funny thing is the water tasted so good. I also must mention the French fries were amazing. The place was spotlessly clean. Service and food was awesome. If you are even thinking about trying this place, just do it!

Was able to enjoy the warm weather outside on our recent trip. They accommodated our request, and we enjoyed the sun during dinner. My wife was raving about the Big Apple wrap, and has already told 5 people about it. Update: while driving again in the area, my wife said she HAD to get another wrap. She was also interested in a strawberry milkshake. But the milkshake filler her up and she was unable to finish the wrap. She still loved it, maybe you will too.

First time customer. The mozzarella sticks were more like mozzarella slices. They were cooked perfectly and were delicious. The burger I ordered was tasty and so filling. The waitress was super friendly and attentive. I would give her five stars alone. Edit: came a second time. Even better. I originally made a comment about the hosts, but it might have been an off night. Came during the rush of Sunday early afternoon crowd, and miraculously was seated quickly. The waiter was fast and the food came out even faster. Sharing the nachos was more than enough for a meal. Will have to remember that next time.

Our go to diner whenever we’re in the area. Good amounts of convenient parking. Wait staff can be spotty though. Some are good while others are neglectful and do things like seat you next to the restrooms in an near empty diner. Some of the dishes are outstanding like the fried chicken, fries and pasta meals. Chocolate cake is outstanding also. The only thing I’ve ever hated was their pot pie. Chef has a weird take on pot pie…looks and taste like an over salted plate of vomit.

Great location right of 84. The service was extremely quick considering we were a large group and it was quite late I believe there 24 hours. Nice sized portions and so many varieties of fried. Curly, waffle, sweet potatoe etc, and all at no extra cost. They were very nice to push a number of tables together to accommodate us. Paying the bill was super easy and efficient since you brought the check to the front and everyone paid for their own items. I ordered a BLT with sweet potato fries. The sandwich was packed with tomatoes right I appreciated. The waitress forgot my pickle, so when I mentioned it, she brought out 4 pickels!!! Needless to say I was happy. Many choices on the menu. From breakfast to chicken and waffles to huge salads.

Two adults and a child Weekday Herb crusted salmon salad- perfectly cooked salmon, flavorful herb crust, loads of crisp leafy greens, house dressing is well balanced and great pairing with it A little noisy but typical busy diner levels. Server was excellent. Ladies restroom needs a deep clean and maybe a reno- some bathroom stall doors don't lock.

I went there with a group from work. Excellent service from our server, she ensured we had exactly what we needed. And I came with a relatively large group, 9 people. She endeavored to make sure we were well taken care off. We were promptly seated, and food took a while but it came out good. And exactly as requested, including special arrangements. Highly recommend, I ate the veggie burger and the others ate varied meals. All great. I will be back with my team.

The best French dip we have has in 15 years! Hostess seats too early, once seated, no water provided no acknowledgement of our server. Our server was very pleasant and efficient.

Stopped on our road trip after suggested by a friend. Quick service. Generous portions. Spin Dip - cheese layer tough to work with but still good. May want to ask for a spoon. I liked having the salsa option since I don’t like spinach/artichoke dip but my family does! Chinese chicken salad - generous portion. Still left some on plate even with husband helping. Rather than a fried taco bowl they put a big fried tortilla in the middle, which I’d probably skip next time. Ate a few of hubby’s fries - Yum. Just right size/crispiness for me :-) Daughter’s fajitas came on a cool tray! She happily scarfed them down.

They are friendly there. My one big thing is that they are not food allergy friendly. I ordered home fries the other day. I asked for no pepper or onions in it because I'm allergic. I was told that they couldn't accommodate because they are already mixed in. They asked if I wanted a different option. I guess they were trying to be helpful. My thing is this if you order something you would hope that you could have it. All I know is if your allergic to certain ingredients I wouldn't recommend this place. Nothing more gross than being seated at a table with what looked like a big ball of wet snot visible from three booths away. Neither the seater or the waitress even noticed until I had to ask and have the table cleaned. Look around and notice the thick level of dust on the window cases and shelves. 4 guys standing around doing nothing while the senior server with a limp is overwhelmed by 3 tables. Had to wait a while to be noticed again. Then to see that same waitress take an order literally right next to me after they just got there after I was waiting was my exit plan. I never ordered breakfast. Got up and went back to the Carmel diner. I went to ever ready a few times ten years ago and stopped because of the same crap. I tried it again and at least they are consistent.

The server we had was awesome. He was the best part of our lunch. My daughters chicken fingers were just wrong. They were rubber and tasted like fish. We’re they frozen and then refried in the same oil as someone’s fish lunch? That’s was it seemed like, but they were very rubbery. My cheeseburger was really thin and also had a funny taste to it. Almost sour , hopefully I don’t get sick, I only ate half of it because cause of the cost and I don’t like complaining. The photo is my daughters chicken fingers, which were rubber and weird .

Just wasn't a good experience here. The food was very bland, fish tacos did not look like fish tacos. The chicken and waffles was like biting into a big thing of grease that was gross. Yeah never again. Might as well go to McDonald's.

So the ED has been rock'n and roll'n for a long time now havin some impressive staying power.... Finally got a chance to stop in for a meal and left w/a pretty mixed bag. Idk if it was the random time of the day or if they just were off but the overall experience left much to be desired. My partner's sausage was her favorite thing on her plate and she said that the eggs had a strange taste like they had been cooked all together w/other orders. My open face chopped steak was kinda tough and hammered up as you can see in the photo and had a slight fishiness like it was cooked on the grill right after a seafood order.... The only reason for the stars was the phenomenal order of mozzarella sticks we got as an appetizer... these sticks taste like they're homemade and are absolutely killer. Not too salty and breaded in a way they dnt collapse. They are so good in fact that we'll be coming back just for those every now n then. Everything else tho.... ehhhhh

Went in for lunch with a friend. Our server was friendly and honestly, one of the best servers I’ve had at a diner. He accidentally brought us out the wrong salad and right after he brought it back to the kitchen we hear a man cursing and yelling and being utterly disrespectful from the kitchen. Someone else brought us out the salad and came to check on us so obviously something had happened with our server. I don’t know what happened, not my business but it was absolutely unprofessional and if that’s how you speak to your staff as a manager or boss then this isn’t a place I want to patronize.

I would like a tour of the storage areas and refrigeration unit. After seeing what takes place in the Bel-Aire diner in Astoria I cannot imagine myself ever going to a diner again.

I was very disappointed with the outcome of my order this evening. I am retired food industry worker who has worked at all levels of the industry. So i am heartbroken to see the decline in service, quality and acknowledgment of poor food preparation and delivery. I ordered a BLT and had to remove the lettuce. The lettuce is supposed to be the last thing you add to the sandwich and should not be wilted and brown. I took chance and ordered the seafood antipasto. The lesson is mine to learn. The seafood was covered in a opaque film. The shrimp did taste okay- but the scallops were definitely not good- they had a distinct “ foul” odor and sour taste- i did not venture past and had to throw out the entire salad. I also ordered mac and cheese bites and received a side of mac and cheese instead. Oh well i though people make mistakes- but again i tased it and so did my husband( as i thought i was going crazy) the cheese tasted rancid. Maybe they use a three cheese approach- but it still should not taste that way. Thew the whole thing out again. Overall the only good part was my husbands burger was awesome and he enjoyed it very much. Sufficed to say i spent of over 60.00 dollars for a meal for my family- wasted most of it, but lesson learned. Unfortunately i will never order from this establishment in the future. I did call to share my experience: and although the young woman was apologetic; she seemed indifferent.

Used to be best diner for us. Had extremely slow service today. I think it was on purpose as I asked the cashier if they were short on staff and he said no. Did express my concern but didn’t get any acknowledgment. Anyways another one off my list of breakfast diners to go to. Such a pity as I really like this place for its food.

I called in an order for 1 burger no jalapeños. The girl on the phone said 10 minutes. I arrive after 20 mins and don’t see my order. I told the hostess the name for the order and the interaction went as follows: She looked like she messed something up, called over another worker to laugh about it, then went to the kitchen to laugh about it as if I wouldn’t hear that. The hostess came back out and did not apologize or did not explain the situation all she said was “yeah it’ll be a couple minutes”. It was clear the order was never put in because it took 10 minutes to get my food after she said it’ll be ready in a couple minutes. If the hostess would have just apologized initially and been honest about the mistake I would’ve had 0 issue waiting. My issue is that this hostess did not acknowledge her mistake whatsoever and just laughed about it. Like bro just tell me what’s up I would not have been mad. Instead I had to stand there for 10 minutes like an idiot after already giving my order 20 mins beforehand. Again this hostess did not apologize until the very last second when she was finally handing over the food and all she said was “sorry for the wait have a good night”. And for the cherry on top, the burger that I requested with no jalapeños came packed with jalapeños. The vibe is always so good here and I’ve never had an issue like this. Again, if the hostess had been mature about it, apologized, and told me the truth, I would not have to write this because I would’ve waited no problem. This isn’t the first time something like this has happened here but that time (years ago) the hostess was clear with me and even offered a soda while I waited. The lack of communication and the immaturity to go talk and laugh about it in a kitchen that doesn’t even have doors is crazy to me.

Food is questionable. TAhe place looks dirty and the restrooms are disgusting and in poor repair. And you don't put avacado that looks like this on a plate coming out of the kitchen!

I haven’t been here in awhile, I used to go to the one in Hyde Park a lot. Loved the Fritter French Toasts. Today I stopped by the Brewster location. Disappointed. Price was $4 more than I remember but inflation I guess. What was mainly disappointing was size. I remember four pieces of French toasts and now three smaller pieces. The raspberry sauce used to come w a side of it as well as real maple syrup. Now it is barely any raspberry sauce and pre-packed corn syrup. So not only price higher, amount less but they skimp on ingredients. I won’t return :(

The food was great, but unfortunately, the servers do not pay attention to the details of the order. Then, when trying to correct the issues, they seem to want to become defensive. I eat all over the US. I am a truck driver. The last time I had such sub-par customer service was outside of ATL in 2020. I ordered, and they seem like they are going through the motions here. Would not eat here again. And the I paid $28 for eggs, home fries, turkey bacon and sausage, which i ordered bacon and they have me sausage anyway. At first they served me pork which I have never ate or ordered a day in my life but, according to the waitress that's what she heard me order. It was all downhill from there. Not a fan of this place at all l, but what do I know. I'm just a foodie.. if you look at my other reviews you will see I am very honest about my personal experience from all over the US.👌🏽 ⭐️⭐️

We have been here many times over the years since they opened and it's always been a favorite. Last night my husband and I walked in and the entire place smelled like raw sewage. When asked the waitress said there were problems with the cesspool. After talking to a friend she said the bathrooms stunk over a month ago. How is this sanitary? We left, there were people sitting and eating, I have no idea how. It can't be good for the employees nor sanitary for a food establishment. This diner has gone completely down hill. I can't imagine going back. Really a shame.

Very Disappointing! Never been to this diner in Brewster. I received the wrong meal, took forever to get the waitress back to inform her, then the correct meal (a panini sandwich) was burnt and dry. The french onion soup was bland with no substance. Terrible food, poor service, do NOT recommend.

Awful awful home fries. Huge, thick home fries were more like un cooked potato wedges. Please treat the to - go guest with quality like food as when we stay and eat please.

We started with an order of onion rings and they were excellent. Hot and crispy. That is as good as it got. I ordered a chicken club sandwich. The sandwich was cold. There were about three slices of American cheese on top that were not melted. They did not include the chipotle mayo dressing, so the sandwich was very dry. French fries were OK until about halfway through eating them I found hair on one of them. My friend ordered the tuna melt. The tuna was cold, like out of the refrigerator cold, the cheese wasn’t melted and after seeing the hair that I found he could no longer finish his food. He was going to take it home to heat it up and finish it later, but couldn’t at this point because he lost his appetite after the hair in the food. Before we finished, The over occurred another patron about how the turkey was inedible. The food was brought to our table by someone other than our server. Our server never came back to the table to ask how anything was or if we needed anything else. We had to go up to the counter to ask for the check. What’s happened to this place??? When we arrived, we were parking the car behind the restaurant and saw who appeared to be one of the cooks coming back from the supermarket who then transfered a case of Modelo‘s into a white bucket which he then put into a garbage bin and brought it into the restaurant. He had taken his cooking apron off when he went to the supermarket and he draped it over the edge of the disgusting dirty dumpster. He put it back on when he went back inside. After witnessing that we should have went somewhere else. Gross.

6.6.25 - arrived this evening at a period where back room only had one other table and the entirety of the rest of the restaurant had been at 70%. With that being said we were sat in the back at our request in order to be considerate to other diners as we have two toddlers and after over 15 minutes not a server or anyone had been by our table to ask about drinks, food or even give us a water. You think with the little kids in tow they would try to address the table as soon as possible to keep the little ones quiet. Turns out it's quite the opposite and they ignore the table completely just to get you to leave because they're not in fact a family-friendly restaurant. This happened before and we waited it out and chalked it up to them being busy or a new server. But no, this is clearly a tactic. Do better and thanks for the wasted effort on the expedition.

Everything has gone way down hill here. Ordered carnitas, it was described as roast pork with cilantro and lime but all I got was BBQ pork on a tortilla with pineapple.

The place is filthy. Was sat at a table where the ceiling is leaking. Dirty cutlery was on the place setting. The floors were sticky to walk on. All staff was hanging out/ on their phones. The food was subpar, the sandwiches were soggy. Even the soft drinks left much to be desired.

First of all I asked for a burger with onions and mushrooms and they didn’t even put a bun on the burger!!! So disappointed then I asked for 2 cheeseburgers and they gave us NO cheese that’s annoying now I have to add regular bread to my burger with no bun 😑 1 star review never coming here again

Terrible just terrible. FOOD IS NOT YUMMY. Came with friends, food took 20 minutes to arrive, burritos weren't grilled on the bottom so when I picked it up, everything fell out, potatoes seen on the picture were BURNT and OLD tasting, shrimp was definitely frozen and old, tasted EXTREMELY fishy, nasty. Place is nice, pretty homey feeling but the food, do not even order for the food.

We went here because we loved the Eveready Diner that closed up in Hyde Park! Wish we didn't! Can't blame being under-staffed for the horrible experience as 11 employees stood upfront talking and twiddling their thumbs. The place was filthy! The chairs and bench were covered in food and grease. The host who sat us did come back out with the rag and clean it off, after I had asked him to. The tables all around us have not been cleared off after other customers have left, even before we got there. Literally 4 tables around us were covered with plates and old food and it was just disgusting. There were flies everywhere. The floor was so sticky and covered with food as well. The waitress was nice but VERY forgetful. Never asked us if we wanted drinks, never gave us menus after asking, had to ask twice for coffee. Waited 20 mins for our check.. the waitress never came back. Had to get the check from the manager. The food was not that great at all either. The chinese salad had wilted black slimy lettuce that tasted like dirt and the burger tasted like a rubber shoe. I feel horrible writing this review because everybody was very friendly and nice, but you guys have to do better!

This place could use a good cleaning. The table where I sat was a little gross and I don't usually say that about a restaurant. I didn't want to lean against the table at all and honestly if not for the fact that my husband is so easygoing, I would have left. The food was so mediocre, that I ended up leaving it behind. I took one bite out of my greasy grilled cheese and had a couple of my overcooked sweet potato fries and was done.

I ordered the ribeye steak, medium rare, the steak was so thin you can cut it with a fork, I also received fried calamari as an appetizer, the calamari was so overcooked you could squeeze it, and it would break like pretzels. And on top of all that my whole dinner was ice cold. And since everything was so severely overcooked, there was no sense in heating it up so it was tossed in the garbage.

I’ve been a customer for a few years and the food is always delicious, unfortunately Yasmine the female they have answering the phones and directing the restaurant is not qualified and her customer service is very bad unfortunately, A good diner with bad customer service.

The diner always had excellent Reuben so there would be pastrami or corn beef. Last Friday, I ordered corn beef Reuben to go. Instead of having nicely sliced corn beef. There were like 1 inch squares of meat in the sandwich almost like it was the end of a corn beef. It tasted terrible and ended up discarding it

I ordered carnitas corn tacos with rice. I specifically told the waiter I have a gluten allergy and he expressed everything was gluten free and he would check with the manager. There were a few cut up pasta noodles in the rice I found after eating half the rice. I asked the waiter for a new plate and then the second had noodles mixed in as well. He was pleasant but just said “it happens”. Now I will be sick later, it shouldn’t “just happen” multiple times in a row. That’s a safety issue for anyone with allergies
