They serve large portions of food here from there giant breakfast burritos 2 there delicious hamburgers! AND everything in between. Cold drinks (adult beverages too) keep u coming back in summer. There prices r abit on the high side BUT there food supplies must come a long way. AND ur scenery from the Barn is amazing. Ur in the Eastern High Sierras! Absolutely beautiful...
Haven't been to the Barn since before the previous owners. I used to make a point to stop by and get a pastrami sandwich, which they unfortunately no longer serve. This time I opted for their double bacon cheeseburger and it was one of the best I've had in a long time. The burger patties were juicy and flavorful. Lettuce and tomatoes were fresh, I should have asked if they grill the people onions, as I prefer then grilled, but the few bites I took with the onions were much better than I expected. Burgers are starting to get expensive pretty much everywhere, but this burger ended up being worth it. The fries were great too. I don't generally like think cut fries, but these were fried just perfectly that I ended up eating the whole lot even though I felt like I was going to explode! Had a caramel shake, which was very good but of course not very thirst quenching-shoulda gotten some water or soda for the meal and shake for dessert.
Absolutely amazing place to eat. Amazing service. I’ve been eating here for years and the lady at the front has been taking my order and is absolutely amazing every single time!
Cute small town burger joint. The nachos, burger and burrito was excellent. Quick service and casual atmosphere.
OMG if you can eat here you need to! I was in town for work, and stopped by. Amazingly friendly staff. I ordered the Cowboy grilled chicken sandwich and it was amazing! Tender chicken, sweet tangy bbq sauce, all the toppings and a toasted bun. It was 9.95... Are you kidding me? I would have paid 19.95 for that sandwich. SOOOOOOO GOOD. This place is 2 hours from home but I see some loooooong lunches in my future!
If you want an amazing burger at a good price, This is the place to go. Prices are good, atmosphere is peak, and service is quick and very kind. Please stop here for food if you’re in this quiet little town.
Great burgers and shakes. People are super nice and will accomodate special requests if you want a shake that is not on the menu...western bbq bacon burger!
A small town hamburger joint that swings a big bat. Absolutely delicious, mouth watering burgers. They have a wide spectrum of sides, including fries, sweet potato fries, tater tots, fried zucchini and more. Both visits, one during a drive thru Bridgeport and this one, camping nearby, left me full and happy. The service is quick, efficient and delightful. Very friendly staff. There's outdoor seating that turns over regularly. Plenty of parking and bathrooms next door. If you're in the area, I highly recommend it.
Let no one from this point on mistake this as nothing less than the best place to have lunch at in the entire town. From all the reviews I have read, and from then confirming my theory by eating here myself, I can confirm that you will be satisfied if you come stop by here. It is clear that they have a good taste for food, ingredients, and are skilled enough to pull off each preparation well. The tacos actually reminded a family member of their childhood, and no one left without a full and content stomach. Listen all ye travelers, come and stop by THE BARN.
This place is so cute if you are driving thru and don’t stop by you are missing out. We got the cowboy chicken burger with onion rings and the Reese’s milk shake. The portions are big, shared the burger and they even cut it in half for us. Cheryl took our order and was so sweet!
Blueberry shake gets 5 stars..super yummy and refreshing. Cute local hamburger shack. Grandma was the best...grandson needs to learn a little bit about customer service with a smile. Great outdoor seating and CLEAN restrooms!! Make sure to make a pit stop while in Bridgeport.
An awesome crew, was passing through Bridgeport a little later than expected called them at 20 mins till close and placed an order for pickup and they still accommodated my order! Staff was very friendly and the burgers were delicious! Will definitely be back soon!
Good food! Outdoor seating with shade. Wide variety menu. Was just passing through
One of the best bison burgers anywhere. The meat is tender and flavorful, salad and onions fresh and crisp. The sweet potato fries are so delicious and did I mention the spicy chipotle sauce… heaven! Also had iced tea with lemonade mix called Arnold Palmer it’s really good
Staff and food are great. Coffee is terrible but it's a burger place. Well burger and Mexican food. Odd mix. Tried both and both were good. If you're passing through this is a good stop.
Seriously fell in love with this town and The Barn has some great food! The burger was perfect, the amount of French fries was massive and I couldn’t stop eating them! The taco salad was one of the best ever! Thanks for the perfect end to a great day!
Dude. The nachos and fries were awesome. We also got a fish taco to split but everything was so huge we couldn’t even try it (we put it in the ice chest for later! The person we ordered from said it was their most popular item!) The nachos with chicken and a small side of fries was more than the two of us could split. It was really good! They were very kind and asked if we could wait a few minutes before ordering because they had just received a huge order. I guess that’s a good sign! While we waited for our food, a long line formed and we could hear others talking about how good their food was and how big the portions are. We are on picnic benches, so the “atmosphere” is rated a little low but that’s the least of our concern. The food was great.
We had an amazingly delicious lunch today at this little burger place in Bridgeport, CA. I seem to recall their sign at the window stating that they use premium Angus beef, and it was excellent! We split a large order of fries as well, which was so huge that it probably could have fed four people instead of just two! The lady who took our order was so very friendly, also. We will definitely return again!
We ate there on the way to Reno back from Yosemite. The food was all excellent. The French fries were probably the best I have had in my life!. My burger was fresh with a nice bun, nice and fresh tasting vegetables to accompany. Friendly staff, especially lady who took the orders. Reasonable prices too. What a pleasant surprise.
The Barn is a hidden gem in Bridgeport. You know it's good when the place has a long line at lunchtime and it's mixed with travelers as well as locals. Even the sherif was there! The food was fresh and delicious, and generous portions. The kids loved the complimentary pickled veggies too. Lots of choices to choose from on the menu. There is plenty of outdoor seating and bathrooms are next door.
What a great place to stop by. The food was amazing. My husband is a vegetarian and his mexi bowl was delicious and the rice was extremely flavourful. I ordered a grilled chicken burger which was yummy as well. 💯 recommend
Pure classic! We got the classic fried chicken sandwich and it was delicious! Loaded with the classic toppings and fried to perfection. This little spot is unassuming but so worth the stop. It’ll be our go to stop now whenever driving down 395 :) next time we’ll try some of the Mexican food! We love supporting small local businesses and this one is not to pass up!
The food was delicious, I should’ve ate here everyday of my trip. The carne asada fries and nachos reminded me of home (LA). My BBQ Western Bacon burger was so good I couldn’t put it down. 10/10 this place is a must.
Really great burger. There was a line, so it took some time to order. The food came out pretty quickly though.
Not going to sugar coat it or exaggerate. I have nothing what-so-ever to do with this business. BEST DAMN BURGER we have had in a long time! Whoa. Talk about good tasting beef for a cheeseburger. The fries and zucchini stick w/ranch.........are out of this world. This place has always been good.......but the food may have gotten better since the last time I was there about 5 years ago. I would consider driving back from the California coast just to get lunch.
If you are ever driving through Bridgeport and need something to eat, this is the place! Just like what they say, they specialize in big portions and quality food. We had the bison burger, which was incredibly flavorful. Also had the double bacon cheeseburger. A LARGE order of fries, and amazing pickle spear fries. This will forever be a pitstop whenever I'm driving through
Best bet in for a quick bite in Bridgeport. The Mexican food here has always been good. But what’s even better are the sweet people working there. One woman has been there for decades and she always takes time to connect with each customer. I love this! Then there’s a very cheerful and friendly young dude—also super sweet. Feels like coming home to see and be greeted by these folks year after year. Thank you.
We came over the pass on our way to the hot springs. Stopped in right at noon on a Saturday and the line was wrapped around the dining porch. Nevertheless the food was delivered quickly. This was an excellent burger. Well worth the 5 stars. The meat was so well seasoned it tasted better than grilling at home. The large fries fed our family of 4. There’s indoor seating at the old boat shop next door, but we sat on the patio with our dog. The lady taking orders was delightful. She obviously cared about getting the order right. We will definitely be back on our next adventure over the pass.
Incredible mom and pop burger joint. Great service and excellent food. Would definitely recommend for the quality and value
Awesome place! I stopped here on my way home from the hot springs for breakfast. They normally don't start serving lunch until around 11 but they do have a breakfast menu of breakfast burritos and breakfast sandwiches. I got the chorizo burrito- comes with eggs cheese chorizo and your choice of salsa. It's almost the size of my head and was only $12. I got there around 10 there was only one other person there. Outside patio was very clean and nice to sit and enjoy the sun. Will definitely be coming back.
This is a great little place. Food was fresh and delicious. Good size portions. We had the bacon, guacamole, cheese burger. Amazing!!!
When in town, this is the place to get a green chili cheeseburger. Great location within walking distance of everything. Really nice lady running the window. Some delicious pickled vegetables and peppers complimentary at the pickup window. My wife really enjoyed her fish taco and chocolate shake. The fries that we got to share with our group were perfectly cooked and seasoned.
The burger was good, nice and juicy and fries were also very good. My friend got the carne asada burrito and didn’t recommend it.
One of the best breakfast burritos we’ve ever had! Not too greasy and perfect quantities of each ingredient. The staff were incredibly nice and helpful, our only regret is not being able to try the rest of their food.
The food was very good and the service was outstanding. The woman that took our order was very nice and friendly and helpful. She described some of the food items perfectly and gave us some very good advice. These days service like this is hard to come by. Hope they never change!
Steak and fish tacos were excellent! Lovely staff and well worth stopping in for a bite to eat.
Love it, food is soooooo good and delicious 😋 I will recommend 👌 100%
We are frequent Bridgeport/Twin Lakes summer visitors and today was the first time I had the chance to enjoy Burger Barn’s reputable burgers! By far their burgers are top notch, fries were perfect, service was awesome, and the view cannot be beat! We will be back! Looking forward to it! Keep up the good quality. Thank you!
Atmosphere might be considered lacking but it was a nice day and eating at a picnic table outside was pleasant. The burger and sweet potato fries were tasty and we got our food fast. The pickled vegetables were a nice bonus side too.
We finally found our favorite place to stop for lunch on the 395. Now we know why it's always busy. We had the Santa Fe grilled chicken sandwiches and shared an order of sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious, even though the sandwich was a bit messy. Can't wait to stop here again.
Awesome throwback burger stand, like a high school date from the 1950’s. Simple food done right with good flavor and ingredients Mom would put on your burger. Steadily introducing more Mexican faire; I was able to get a vegan taco bowl with a couple substitutions. Nice folks. Come outta the mountains hungry!
Found this burger place heading back to Sacramento and it was the best choice. The older lady in the cashier is super friendly and honest answering our questions. I got a bison burger and it was super delicious! And my girlfriend got a Baja fish tacos and it was huuuge! And super flavorful and crispy.
Mac and cheese bites with Gouda were so good! Not a big serving but tastes great. Bison burgers and fries were also good.
Outdoor sitting, super nice lady taking our order, and food was absolutely delicious. Definitely would recommend getting one of their burgers. We got the 1/2 lb avocado bacon burger and 1/4 lb blue cheese and bacon burger with a side of sweet potato fries.
Small outdoor stand with a big menu full of delicious choices. The staff was sweet and friendly. The food was fresh and fantastic. The tables and seats were clean. Only thing I can complain about was the flies. They were everywhere, including inside the register/kitchen stand. But oddly they didnt bother us while we were eating, they also didnt get near our food. Ingredients were crisp and fresh and the portions were filling. Everything is individually priced, so no combos. Prices are decent for the quality. fan faves was the stuffed churro (crisp n hot sweet perfection), horchata cinnimon shake, cheese burger, crispy tater tots and the gigantic fish taco(you can make 3 tacos out of it). We also tried the taquitos & cali burrito, nothing special. They seemed like frozen taquitos with fresh fixings on top. The burrito seemed like it had la victoria green salsa and the tots were soggy. We stopped by twice on our trip and the weekend definitely had a full line compared to weekdays. Overall good food.
They have the best crispy chicken sandwiches that are big and fat including the vegetables! On a recent trip in the eastern Sierra, I had chicken sandwiches at this place and at similar establishments in Walker and Lee Vining and the chicken sandwiches here we're head and shoulders above the other places, which weren't bad
I drive through Bridgeport quite a few times during the summer now for years. However, this is the first time I stopped at The Barn. It was fairly busy, and at one point, the guy cooking told the lady taking orders to stop taking orders for a couple minutes so he could catch up. But it was only a few minutes not long at all. I ordered the buttermilk chicken sandwich. It was absolutely one of the best chicken sandwiches I have ever had. I simply cannot remember when tasty any better at any time. Kudos to The Barn.
A visit to the Barn is revelatory; religious, even. A place of worship to the old gods of fine fast food. For a reasonable price, you can experience the very same transcendental feeling that John Muir bathed in when he hiked in the great granite hills of Yosemite. This place is more than worth your visit, this is a mecca of quality eating, and it deserves your pilgrimage. AND you can buy burritos.
Bomb food, great service. We've been stopping here for years. Love their chicken sandwiches and burgers. Stayed a few nights in Bridgeport and went there twice. Got my usual the first night (Cowboy Chicken, which was excellent) and opted for mexican the second. Wife and I got the loaded nachos. Seriously it was two pounds of food each, way to much to eat. It was amazing, but I couldn't finish. Wife opted for meat, cheese and dairy free (she's vegan), but they still managed to load it up. Service is always excellent. The sweet, older lady that helped me both times gives great service.
Just a "rocks throw" from the Walker River Lodge is where you'll find the best burgers, fries, and shakes that you've had in quite some time! One of the very few food establishments open in Bridgeport during winter, (I was here in early March), but don't worry, they have quite the variety of food choices here, and their open from 9 to 5. If you stop in here during lunch, expect a long line though, btw, let all those Sheriff and Highway Patrol Officers get in front of you okay? It's soooo worth the wait, and they have plenty of outside seating in front, for soaking in that sun...and viewing those gorgeous Sawtooth Mountains, or just watching the officers give speeding tickets. Watch your speed on Main St okay? You just make sure to stop at the Barn, and you'll be rewarded, not ticketed!
Excellent high quality food. The staff are friendly and personable especially the owner Cheryl. I love the fish tacos and I highly recommend them. One taco is a meal. Dining here is a delightful experience. If you visit the Bridgeport area be sure and stop in. The Burger Barn was one of the highlights of my vacation to the Twin Lakes area.
Decent quick food, pretty standard fare, but the staff is absolutely wonderful! Hamburgers, fries, tacos, taco salads, burritos, ice coffee, etc... a mix of everything. Pricing was good, the only negative is mostly outdoor seating which is fine when it's warm, but if it's raining or cold...yeah...good luck. Tables could use more shade and a bit more maintenance.
Excellent menu selection, prices reasonable and the service was good. The food however, left a bit to be desired. I was not impressed with the fish taco or the nachos grande. The cheese was all wrong for Mexican food and there was too much of it. The overall flavor just wasn't happening for Mexican food. The portions were great for the price point, only if I could have enjoyed them more. I'll probably give them a second chance, just not with the Mexican fare.
We were driving up highway 395 in April, and had seen the good reviews for the Burger Barn, so we stopped in for a meal. We don't eat burgers out very often, but we were happy to find that the burgers and fries were very good. My fires were crispy and tasty, and the burger was very well prepared. My fountain drink tasted good, and didn't have that muddled flavor fountain drinks often have. We didn't try any of the other menu options, but what we did try was very good. The views aren't bad, either. The lady working at the window was very nice.
Recommend? Yes! Came back from our backpacking trip & stop by for dinner prior to heading back home. I would definitely come back and try other options on the menu next time I’m in the Area. I had a chicken burrito & my friends had the double burger. He said it was pretty juicy . Next time I’ll try their shake and other menu items as mentioned above . The portions are decent and no issue with the service .
The crowd drew us in. The line was long but the wait to receive the food was short. The lady whom took our order was super sweet. Ordered a cheeseburger, veggie burger, plus fries. As far as condiments there is a huge selection of hot sauce and peppers. If you need sauce on the side such as thousand or ranch ask upon order. The dude that presented the order was rude with no customer service skills at all but that’s the least of my worries. The food itself.... My veggie burger was GIGANTIC! His cheeseburger was exactly what he was craving. The fries were meh. Nice little spot if you’re passing through Bridgeport.
Probably one of the best double bacon cheese burgers 🍔 of all time. Tots were perfectly crispy. So much I couldn't eat it all. Fresh produce, good bun, smashed patties with just the right carmelization, good pickles just perfect. !!
One of my joys in my on-the-road travels is finding gems along the way. The Burger Barn is one of those when I overnighted in Bridgeport up and down U.S. 395. It's a roadside joint, the kind that reminds you of an America of the past when drive-ins were a thing. It serves up basic fare, no frills and some Mexican dishes as an extension of their respectable menu. I travel the 395 corridor as part of my meanderings and on this last stop, it was an absolute joy to be serve by an older woman who was so nice and kind. It just goes to show how much a personality can add to your perspective of a place. The food is good each time I've gone and I've no doubt it'll be good and reliable the next time I go through this neck of the woods. I am delighted to always visit this place and a bonus to patronize a local business and support a mom-n-pop enterprise.
After buying $6.50 per gallon gas in town we decided to venture down the street to eat a $19 Burger meal at one the few places open, The Barn. The burger was good, the fries were great, but the rice drink not so great. It's oddly quiet in a small setting that could benefit from music. Counter service was exceptionally friendly and genuinely interested in us as people.
Employees very pleasant. Food quality average. Taste average. Burger over cooked. Cost was way over priced for the quality and quantity of food. We were hungry and they were the only place open. Maybe four food choices in the whole town.
Waited at a dirty table for 15 minutes before I finally flagged a waitress to bring me a menu. Left me with the menu for ten minutes and a dirty table before I gave up and walked out. They were busy, but two waitresses walked past me several times without checking in or acknowledging me at all. Another thing, the menu had limited selection.
Beware of using credit/debit cards with the younger polite talking woman. Yes it was my fault in agreeing with her not needed my receipt but in bad faith she charged my credit card $63.21 for double western BBQ & zucchini sticks after the fact. They did not care to acknowledge the error from my bank disputing the charge out of good faith. Again buyer beware
Don't know if its good or not. They close at 6 pm. On a Friday night. They also won't take orders at 5:45 and told me they are closed..
