We love this place. My husband loves burgers, whereas I am not a fan. But this place definitely changed my perspective. Their burgers were fresh, flavourful and didn't make me feel sludgy after. Interior was modern and full of light. I also appreciated the cheese dip...I feel like a lot of burger places should include a cheese dip - not only did this one taste nice but it was humungous! All the portions were massive and the meals were very affordable.
I dined here upon the evening of a crisp winter Sunday, I was greeted by beaming smile of the bearded employee. He made me and my associate feel most welcome as he seated us upon our thrones of consumption. The experience was magical, the vibe was true and the food was stellar. I’ve never been so unfathomably fortunate to enjoy such a delicious meal. Thank you milk people, truly. X
No faults at all. So amazing. Burgers were delicious. Loaded fried were amazing. Drinks were tasty. Atmosphere and vibe was superb. Would 100% recommend and would love to come back soon.
Had a really lovely experience here booking through first table. The smash burgers werent what we expected but the staff happily got us different burgers, and didn't charge us for the original ones. All the food ended up being delicious, and the waiters couldn't have been kinder or more accomodating. Definitely recommend the fried pickles!!
The food was amazing. My partner had been before and told me how great it was but it was even better than he said. We had a burger each, shared the wings and a portion of Christmas poutine, they were all delicious. The service was brilliant, everyone was lovely and really helpful. It's a little restaurant but that gives it a nice atmosphere.
Having heard about this restaurant on social media, we came here for an early weeknight dinner. It’s located in Clifton Village, a very pretty part of Bristol. Inside, the decor is relaxed and modern, and there is window and bar style seating. It’d a small restaurant though, so booking ahead is definitely advisable. The food is fairly standard burgers, fries, and chicken, but this restaurant’s USPs is its buns, which it bakes daily. They’re definitely the best burger buns I’ve ever had, and for once the bun contributes to the enjoyment rather than just holding the other ingredients in. Much recommended is the house cheese sauce, which is great for dipping fried and burgers. The chicken fillets were also very juicy, and came with a great dip. The portions are all good, but sadly there’s no desserts on the menu. There is also a varied wine and cocktail menu. The staff were friendly and helpful, and service was fast.
Visited the Milk Bun today 27/10/25. The Bronx burger was delicious as were the Bronx fries. Others in our group had the Smash burger also delicious. Can also recommend the cheese sauce dip to go with the plain fries. Lauren & Josh the staff were both very friendly, And not overbearing by constantly asking if we needed anything like in some restaurants, which was nice. They both checked we had all we required and let us enjoy our meal . I would recommend The Milk Bun and will hopefully be in Bristol again soon to visit again.
I have been a regular Milk Bun customer for a couple of years. The food is excellent (in my opinion the best tasting burgers in the area) and the fried pickles are a must try! The food is delicious, although it is quite expensive (~£15 for a burger, with fries/sides as additional dishes). I’d go more often if it was a bit less pricey. Milk bun remains my favourite restaurant in the Village.
One of the best burger spots around! The service was excellent—quick and friendly. We tried several items: the Milk Bun (4/5), LA (5/5), Plain Chick (5/5), Truffle Thunder (7/5 – absolutely amazing!), and The Big B (5/5). Each burger was full of flavor and cooked to perfection. The only downside was the fries, which were unfortunately below average (1/5).
Super late review but we went to Milk Bun with a big group of us a few months ago and everything was absolutely brilliant! Despite arriving pretty late in the evening the staff were lovely and attentive and the food was incredible. When something I ordered was out of stock the lady serving us was incredibly apologetic and suggested a great range of options that were really delicious. Burgers are great and the sides are lovely too, plus the drinks were really tasty. Thanks everyone at Milk Bun, appreciate it and looking forward to my next visit!
First time at Milk Bun and ordered a smashed burger and deep fried pickles. The burger was really tasty but I do think the patty could have been slightly more 'smashed'. I loved the pickles, was a nice change from having a side of chips. The staff were friendly and the service was quick. The location is in heart of Clifton so is nice to visit for a lunch stop.
Top Quality Burgers. We had the chicken Pablo and the Fumo. Very hard to say which was better as they were both amazing in their own way. I think if you’re wanting more meat for your money go for the chicken. They give good amount of fries. The only fault I would say is that the beef burger was not a double patty. Most burger places traditional serve their beef burger as a double patty, so to pay more is a bit unfair in my opinion. But this place is definitely worth going. I would also recommend booking as they have very limited seating. I think they could just about seat 24-30 people. Overall definitely worth going.
Phenomenal burgers and easily my #1 spot for the last 2 years! The bread they use is incredibly tasty. While the Bronx burger is my personal favourite, the Pablo and Meco are also great. Make sure to order the Bronx Fries (amazing toppings!) and the Buttermilk Chicken Wings, which are a total game-changer. Whether it's the burgers or the sides, the quality is always top-notch. Highly recommended!
Enjoyed our burgers at Milkbun. We came on a day when the kitchen extractor wasn’t working so they were only doing chicken burgers. We both opted for the Bronx Chicken burgers, with a portion of the loaded fries to share. The burgers were delicious, and we hope to come back to try their beef burgers too. Not sure if the loaded fries were totally up our street, it was a huge portion and a bit too rich for us. We would opt for the regular fries next time.
Last minute drop in on Friday night. Food was ridiculously good. The super funky beef aroma hits you as soon as you walk through the door, so you know it’s going to be amazing. Very reminiscent of walking downstairs at The Devonshire. 35 day aged beef. Stunning buns. Great sides and a top selection of local beers. Easy 10/10. Can’t wait to return next time we’re in Bristol. 🤙🫡
Literally THE BEST BURGERS in bristol! This was my second time trying this place, the first time was home delivery via uber eats. I have tried their Triad and Chicken El Chapo and holy moly are they both delicious! It is so hard to pick a favourite. The buns are smooth and fresh, the condiments inside are unique & tasty, & the service is efficient. I cannot wait to visit again and try other items on the menu! It was 4 of us. We ordered a burger each with a side of fries and a soft drink. Total was 26£/pp
November 2025: We visited Milk Bun after a few years as we had guests from Cardiff and they had asked us to come here for lunch. Of course like everything the prices did increase but it was reasonable for today’s market. Of course not going to speak about the little gem I seen on other reviews… simply don’t order that. The food? Everything tasted amazing! I had the special burger (Carolina) and I was very pleased. We were disappointed that it was 13:00 on a Sunday and the special fries (Curtido) were sold out. It would had been reasonable when the waiter hands out the special menu to inform you of any items that are sold out, not place a sold out sign at the door by the entrance of the restaurant. Happy with our overall experience. **Update 5 months Later** Restaraunt now changed to Milk Bun. We ordered on 18.09.2021 and we were very disappointed and annoyed to be honest when our £94 order arrived and none of the 7 burgers we ordered were labelled! We ended up playing Burger Roulette; not the best experience for a Saturday night. Surely it just takes 2 seconds to label each burger and surely it’s something that would 100% be done especially on large order like ours. (See Recent Photos for reference) **Older Review** One of the best burgers i had in Bristol. We had the Bronx Burger and a Pablo with the Double up extra. We also shared (two people) the Bronx fries... and i recommend those 100%. The quality of the food was great, and i can happily say that for their price, the portions are large enough (unlike many other restaurants these days...) We ordered for collection, had a nice 20min walk around Clifton while our order was being prepared. We will visit Bronx again, hopefully by then we are going to be allowed for Dine In 🤞 keep up the good work.
Fantastic burgers, plus the Bronx dirty fries and Mac 'n' Cheese were also delicious! Will definitely go back. Only took a star off for Atmosphere because the restaurant got quite smoky while we were there (smoke from the kitchen, not from cigarettes), but I'm sure that isn't usually the case, and it didn't spoil the overall experience.
Lived up to expectations! Burgers were absolutely delicious and the buns were next level. We also tried the chicken wings which were seriously good! Service was on the slow side but it was a Saturday night and you could tell everything was really fresh. Definitely recommend.
The food was amazing quality. Both burgers and buns were amazing. The buffalo wings were fantastic as well. The staff was friendly and they played deep cut hip hop bangers the whole time we were there. One of the best burger places in Bristol
Had the chicken bronx burger & el chapo burger with a side of fries and max and cheese. Burgers were great, chicken was juicy yet crunchy and the el chapo was fresh and flavourful with a crispy bun (8/10). Fries were great, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside - as good as fries can be! The staff were friendly and the food came out quickly
Went in on a quiet Tuesday afternoon with my wife just after Milkbun had opened. We had bronx burgers, mac & cheese, fries and the fried pickles. All did not disappoint and were delicious. In particular the burgers and fries pickles were especially good. Service was great from Grace (I think I heard this was her name?), who was also facilitating a number of take out orders whilst making sure we were sorted.
Had 2 really good burgers here on Saturday - tasted awesome and the bread buns were fantastic. Hadn’t booked but they managed to fit us in, and it’s dog friendly too! Service was a little slow and not overly attentive, which is a little strange considering there’s a mandatory 10% service charge - but you don’t mind waiting when the food is this good!
Nice burgers, they look fantastic and taste really good. Interesting flavour combinations in the burger options. The actual beef burgers themselves are not quite as big and juicy as another top local burger place. Fries have some interesting toppings (parmesan topped fries tasted even better than some of the more loaded options) but the actual fries themselves were slightly insipid. No crispiness. Pretty pricey too - a little more than I expected.
Just next level food. Great flavours and quality produce. the staff are friendly and relaxed. thanks so much for helping us celebrated our recent engagement and making us feel treated!! I’m excited to check out the deli!
Food was amazing. Unfortunately the server forgot to add my burger to the order. But with apologies the food was out in 5 minutes and was incredible. Without any fuss on my part the server added discount and was incredibly apologetic for the mishap. Will definitely be back.
Milkbun always serves up great burgers and it makes a change from the smash burgers are a lot of restaurants are doing at the moment. Portion sizes are generous and staff were very attentive without being overbearing. Went with friends who had never visited before and they thoroughly enjoyed it.
We booked Milk Bun through First Table and the whole process was super smooth, we received helpful reminders leading up to our booking, which made things easy to plan. When we arrived, the place was quiet and relaxed, which made the whole experience really pleasant. We ordered a good amount of food, and everything was delicious, especially the fries, honestly the best we’ve ever had! The service was friendly and quick, and there were no issues with the bill at all. Thanks to First Table, we also got to explore Clifton for the first time since we’re new to the area, which made the evening even more special. We’d definitely book again at a similar time, great value, great food, and a really nice atmosphere.
We came on Valentine’s Day. First of all would like to say the service was great, well done to the friendly staff. The food, we ordered the chicken strips after seeing pictures of how the looked on previous reviews and were very let down to see the tiny size and no coating on our chicken strips. Also the pickle had been sliced nearly on other reviews but just plonked on the plate on ours. We ordered two pablo burgers the taste was good, however the burgers were lukewarm upon arrival and should have been hot as we were one of the first tables on Valentine’s Day. The staff handled this promptly and proportionately and we thank them for remedying the cold food. Overall, good experience but may need to check the overall look and quality of the chicken strips dish.
Went for a weekend in Bristol and randomly found this burger place - nice, elegant atmosphere. I had a chicken burger with some spicy peppers and cheese - if you like spicy stuff I recommend it otherwise there are good beef burger options. I was surprised with the fried pickles (try if them you haven’t before). p.s. very nice soft burger buns
Milk Bun at Bristol is a must-visit spot! The atmosphere is cozy, the service is top-notch, and the food is delicious. I indulged in the El Chapo burger with double meat, Bronx Fries, Fried Pickles, and a Dirty Margarita – all fantastic choices. Only downside: the burger meat was a tad too salty for my taste. Nevertheless, it's a gem worth discovering in Bristol! 🍔🍟🥒🍹
really nice food , fast service . i would recommend the bronx fries, nashville chicken burger , salt and pepper chips. the salt and pepper chips are only on for a limited time which is a shame as in me and my partners opinion, it is their best dish. on a slightly less positive note , i would say it is over priced as burgers don’t include fries as just a burger itself is £16.
Went for an upmarket takeaway from Milk Bun, and the burgers were fantastic! Some interesting concoctions with the peanut butter in one - it worked! Disappointed with the battered gherkins - they were soggy and less than half of each one was battered, and a couple had barely anything on - is this normal? Unfortunately as we picked up for takeaway, and live 30 minutes away, we just had to get on with it, but if I was sat in the restaurant, I’d have said something. Photo as shown.
Heard a lot about this place and came away underwhelmed. Burgers were ok, but nothing more. The parmesan fries were, again, ok. The sauerkraut style coalslaw was a new thing for me and tasty. Location is great, staff are great, price as you would expect isn't cheap. A couple beers, burgers and two sides will set you back £50. Three brothers burgers is a superior alternative.
The burgers were good and there was a fairly wide selection of different toppings. They were however smaller than we expected. The fries were very good. Staff were friendly but the service was quite slow despite it not being that busy.
Looking forward to another visit to milkbun and for first time in probably 3/4 visits I left unsatisfied, as I’ve not reviewed on here yet I’ll give you my overall based on previous visits but this time the food really dint hit like it has before. I ordered a bronx burger and bronx dirty fries, I’ll start with the fries - big portion that’s for sure but the fries were under done, lacking seasoning and the cheese sauce was thick and with a heavy flour taste without any of the cheese really hitting the taste, absolutely no cheese pull at all! The burger was ok, no crispy edges to the beef felt like it needed a little longer on grill to get that charred crispiness across the patty, the burger fell apart when eating a lot of juice coming out the meat making the bottom bun soaked and now soft, the lack of seasoning in the meat showed again the taste buds were asking for more that’s for sure. We also ordered the chicken strips and again disappointing, crispy strips absolutely not, anaemic and soft light batter, and zero flavour other than the side sauce. surely they would looked at this on the pass and said we can’t serve this? But nope it made its way to table. Overall score for this visit - 5.5/10 But normally milk bun absolutely hits the spot and they have a very high standard of food here and my pervious visits I’ve seen this standard shown and I leave very satisfied so I’m sure this was a one off. But a bad birthday meal that’s for sure.
The El chapo burger was amazing!! and I really enjoyed the large portion of loaded fries, i would definitely recommend. However the Pablo burger was not good, the flavour combination for me did not work at all and I could not finish it unfortunately. I would go back to try other dishes from the menu although it was expensive for burger and chips.
We had the Corn Ribs, the Pablo Burger and the Bronx Burger (with vegan patty). Food was very tasty, the service was great and I a lovely 0% Cider (Sassy). The only downsides of the experience were the burgers were overpriced, I'd expect a side as well if paying £15 for just the burger alone and the restaurant was also quite warm which was slightly uncomfortable.
There are better burger places in Bristol. Edit. I went second time. There was way too much ketchup and couldn't taste the supposed to be chilly cheese. There is no point to put stuff just to call it on the menu if you dont taste them.
We went for an early First Table booking. Shortly after we arrived, I noticed that it was getting quite smoky in the restaurant. We had a delicious meal. The burgers were great, even if the chicken burger had a little too much citrus in the mayo. The Bronx loaded fries were fantastic, but needed a little seasoning with salt. We were chatting away, when I asked my partner if she was upset about something, as her eyes were watering and had gone red. We realised that the smoke coming up from the kitchen was quite thick and had made both our eyes watery and irritated. At the end of our meal, we asked if the staff were okay with the amount of smoke in the room, as I’m sure doing a full restaurant service in there would be really tough, not only on the eyes, but on the lungs too. We were told that the restaurant are waiting for the extractor system to be cleaned and thats why it’s smokier than it would be usually. I can only imagine what it must have been like for the folks in the kitchen. It was only when we arrived home that we realised that all our clothes/bags now smell like smoke and fat. Sadly one of our coats is dry clean only, so that’s something we weren’t expecting to have to fork out for. Genuinely delicious food, but I don’t think a restaurant should open if they know they’re awaiting extractor maintenance, as everyone who dined there this evening will stink of fat, not to mention the poor kitchen and floor staff, having to work in an overly smoky environment. We will definitely dine there again, but only once the extraction system has been cleaned and maintained.
The Carolina burger was really nice and flavourful, chips were not seasoned whatsoever, not even with salt. Cheese sauce tasted like cream with a hint of cheese. This place would be really nice if it had more seasoning. The el chapo wasn’t very nice as it just tasted like a plain burger with jalopenos if it had more seasonings it would be nice.
The burger was way below expectations and was extremely overpriced £15 (+£1.5 service charge.) The only saving grace with my meal was the Bronx loaded fries which were really good. However, everyone else I was with got plain house fries and were not impressed , they lacked quality and were extremely dry. The Parmesan also looked very strange asif it was vegetarian or something, it was see through and had little to no taste. The service we received was decent no complaints. But two of our orders did come out slightly wrong. The atmosphere wasn’t very good, tables felt like a squeeze, and apart from a couple sat in the corner we were the only customers in there. Everyone I went with was really disappointed as we had heard great things about Milk Bun
Oh my there are so many great burger places in Bristol such as Asado and sadly this isn’t one of them. Chips were nice though but a bit of shredded lettuce and a flat thin burger doesn’t warrant a return
Burger and Bun were amazing but half way through my chicken wings I noticed blood in them, and not the odd spot either, they were bloody! hoping to not get food poisoning tonight 🤢🥴🤞 Told the staff member to remove them from the bill, but they weren't overly sorry or friendly. Such a shame
If the owner of this restaurant is seeing this comment, for God's sake, hire more people to work at your company! What a slow place to order! Mercy! I waited here for 20 minutes for an order and it wasn't ready. What's going on? Aren't you working in there? Are you playing games with the customer? What slowness is this, mercy! You have to hurry up and be more agile at work because with this laziness and slowness, the customer's food will get cold in no time.
Really average burgers. The fries were a shocker, overly crispy and bland; I've had (much) better oven chips. Wont be going back.
