Opinions de Elmhurst Famous Pizza Broadway
The pizza here is very good and flavorful. But beware it is slightly oily but despite that the flavor makes up for it.
just had the best fries of my life, crunchy exterior and soft inside so yummy and good
I used to go to Elmhurst Famous pizza all the time when I lived in Elmhurst Queens. The history of Elmhurst Famous was when there was a fire at the original Singas in Elmhurst (which no longer exists... again), one of the original partners for the original Singas started Elmhurst Famous Pizza a block away. The pizza, sauce, crunch, etc was exactly the same as the original Singas. Singas a couple years later reopened but wasn't the same, so Elmhurst Famous Pizza was the go-to place for the personal pies. Well, after moving to Jersey, and not having a chance to go back to Elmhurst Famous, I went back to Elmhurst to see if the place and pizza was still the same. To my shock, the original owner was still there taking phone calls, when I had my bite, it brought me right back to the original. So what are the go-to toppings? The plain original is a must. The sausage, jalepenos, pepperoni, and onion-peppers are also the go-to's as well (and if you like broccoli, that works too). Everything else, I really don't get because I feel like the topping flavors overpowers the pizza and you don't get a true taste, but that is just my opinion. But there are Singas around here and there (and even in Lodi), but definitely not the same as Elmhurst Famous. My kids like Singas Famous cause I had them try it, but when they ate Elmhurst Famous, they noticed the immediate difference in crunch (Elmhurst has a nice crunch where Singas felt closer to a cracker texture) and flavor (sauce is a little sweeter vs Singas a little tangier), and preferred Elmhurst over Singas right away. So next time I go to queens, be it a dental appointment in Woodside, or a trip to LaGuardia Airport, I am stopping by Elmhurst Famous again. Now some asked if the Elmhurst and Jackson Heights locations taste the same, my answer is NO. I went to Jackson Heights and it doesn't taste the same, nor have the same crunch. So if you want the better of the Famous Pizza styles, the Elmhurst location is by far the best. Was so happy to see the owner, and to have something that tasted the same as something I grew up with since I was a kid, to young adult, to someone older in life...
As a Elmhurst local, my family has been coming here since I’ve been a kid. Now as an adult with more money, I felt like treating myself. I’m really glad because after all these years, their pizzas are as crispy as usual 🤤. I’ve had pizzas from other food chains a couple of times, like Papa John’s & Dominos, but I always come back to Famous Pizza bc the other stores just don’t get it right like they do here. It usually comes out to be too soggy from all the cheese, and extremely burnt at the crust from those stores. But here, the crust is enjoyable, the cheese is gooey, and the dough is soft. The perfect ratio 👌. And as always, you NEED to get every order with the garlic knots. Just like the pizza, it’s perfectly baked on the outside, and incredibly soft & warm on the inside. It comes with a side of marinara sauce, but it’s already so good by itself that I never use it. It was $20 for everything, but this is a lot for 1. With the same amount, you can probably feed 2-3 ppl with this, so you know it’s affordable.
Fresh, made to order pizza! Although there is a medium wait time, its well worth it for the fresh personal pies. I usually order one for a quick bite, but I can go for 2 when I'm hungrier. The service is great and perfect to bring your family for a meal out. Definitely coming back soon!
Been coming to this place since it was Singas and in the shopping center. Original guys are gone but the new guys have been trained well, pizza is the same as it ever was! Personal 10" pies, no slices. You can order a half plain during lunch I think. My go-to is onion and pepper, the onions and peppers are sliced super thin and then they steam when baking so the bread gets all puffy in places...almost tastes like an onion foccacia in the places where the sauce and cheese don't hit. No ones green peppers the way Famous Pizza does it. If you have a good appetite, I would suggest 1 pie per person.
Pizza is always great here but the service with the older gentleman is brutal. Waiting 5+ minutes to order, then pay then wait for your pizza is not normal for take out of what should take less than 15 minutes not 30. Shout out the order when it’s ready. I’m ordering cheese nothing special. I shouldn’t have to ask the status when told ten minutes and it’s approaching twenty especially when you’re giving people who ordered after me their order and then getting snappy when I ask to see it already packed and pulled from atop the oven. I was sitting right by the counter at the front table.
I thought the pizza was really good. My only complaint is that I saw they had garlic knots. I asked for 3 garlic knots. The person serving the food said the minimum order for garlic knots were 6. I said forget the Garlic knots. I feel this is stupid because I can go to any pizza place in NYC and I can get 3 or 1 or as many garlic knots that I want.
I've tried this spot since high school and throughout the years, it's stayed fresh, consistent and delicious. There's a generous amount of toppings and cheese that does not feel super greasy or heavy. The crust + dough itself was on the thinner side resulting in a satisfying crunch and you bite into each slice. I do wish it had just a tad bit more marinara sauce. It did take a good 15-20 minutes for the food to come out so be prepared if you want some freshly baked pizza. How to: You build your own pizza for the most part, choosing the toppings you want before getting charged. I think 2-3 toppings are pretty budget friendly considering the size. I felt more than satisfied with 3/4 of a pie. It's best if you don't fold the pizza and just bite into it because folding the pizza usually causes the toppings to fall off. Ambience: Both times I've been this year, it's been relatively peaceful with the music in the background and just a few people in the store. Nice cozy spot for a chill food break.
Elmhurst Famous Pizza just earned a spot in my pizza rotation! Ordered their Famous Special for takeout and the wait was right around 10-15 minutes. This pie is seriously good while it's hot - the combo of green peppers, onions, pepperoni, sausage, and mushrooms is on point. Definitely can see myself swinging by here every once in a while to grab a pizza for dinner. On to the next pizza place! 🍕
The pizza tasted old and like cardboard, first and last time here.
Terrible customer service. I called on the phone and ordered 3 pies for my class, I asked that one pie be sliced in 16th for the kids. I have never ordered from here before and did not know that they only make personal pies. The staff at the pizzeria did not bother clarifying despite my specifying that the order is for the school. They delivered three personal pies and cut a tiny personal pie into 16 pieces. When I called to resolve the misunderstanding they informed me that they only make personal pies. I paid 45 dollars for 3 personal pies and garlic knots. I had to order three more pies from Vinnys in order to keep my promise to the students.
Not what it used to be from the food to the service when it opened in the mid 90's u had clean cut guys experienced workers that knew how to make and cook the pizzas now all of the location have become a joke with inadequate counter guys with filthy hands that dont even know how to cut the pie...shame
This was the worst experience ever, bad service, very expensive, poor amount of food. The cashier gave the worst attitude ever and wasn't polite at all, he acted like he was tired of people and didn't really care about the costumer service, on the other hand the pizza was mid and the size of the pizza i would say is for a kid and for 14 dollars i surely was expecting a lot more from "elmhurst famous pizza" what's the reason of the "fame"? Bad reviews?. For me it is definitely a no, never coming back i feel scammed.
I ordered a half Hawaiian and half cheese, size for an individual pizza very good(big size) However, the sauce was very salty and the pizza was running in to much tomato sauce. Not coming back, they also have a grade pending from Health Department, I didn’t check the details about that cause I am not coming back. This was my second time in this place, long time I was in this place and the guys in the kitchen were more into TV program, and the cashier was bitter so was this one, bitter I think they qualification for this job is to be bitter with zero customer skills, if you have that YOU ARE HIRE.
Went there with my 5 years old daughter. This guy in the front desk extremely over cooked my pizza. then when I went there to tell him that we did not asked to cook well or anything. My daughter can’t eat well cook. He replied this how it should be. Later when I asked for money return at the beginning refused then told me I am peaching him off. He was ready to fight me. Extreme rude and ignorant. Never going back.
