One of the best kept "secrets" on Arthur Ave and one of the best, most authentic restaurants up there.

Wandered in one late Saturday for lunch, and got the last two-top. The food was outstanding. Had the Clams Oreganate, a special pasta w fava beans, ofc the arancini, and the star of the show, the pork chop. Completely blown away! Plus the staff is lovely. Go!

Excellent food. Great service. Very authentic and better than what you’d get in Manhattan at half the price. Large portions and good bread + veg with every meal. Make a reservation over the phone. Very old school.

I am Italian. Is rare that I find an Italian restaurant that I love! What makes this place so special is the food is from all over Italy- chef trained from northern Italy to Rome to Sicily and the Dishes all reflect that magnificent homestyle cooking.. Great service. You must try the eggplant Rollatini appetizer. Veal and sole were excellent.

M

stumbled upon this gem while visiting the bronx. The service and food exceeded my expectations! We got dishes off the specials menu, a creamy carbonara and shrimp pasta with vegetables! Amazing amazing amazing! we will be back! Our server Todd was also very attentive!

Absolutely amazing food. To keep it simple- I’m first generation Italian. This is about as authentic as authentic can be. The Bolognese sauce is stellar! Their side dishes are wonderful. I’ve been here a handful of times and the meals have never disappointed. Don’t miss out on this spot!

Went on Friday for lunch with a buddy and my youngest son. Who doesn't love an old school Italian restaurant, this place screams family. When you eat here you are family. My son is Gluten Free and they were extremely accommodating, offered him multiple options to choice from. Fried Calamari was light and crispy the way it should be, one of the best I ever had. I had Veal Parm excellent, My buddy had the Swordfish special which he said was delicious and my son had GF spaghetti with Bolognese sauce. A glass of wine and it was the perfect lunch, I look forward to returning for Dinner, Don't miss out if your on the avenue shopping stop in for a home cooked meal like grandma used to make.

Awesome traditional Italian cuisine, all dishes we ordered were delicious. Also, the limoncello ice cream is super amazing!!!! The personnel is very nice but they close at 9 sharp so try getting there much earlier or they'll rush you into finishing quickly.

Outstanding! Food, service, ambience. Drove in from CT and was not disappointed. Servers were very welcoming and the food…started with fresh, crispy calamari and marinara. Entrees included Fettuccine carbonara (the right way according to my Italian born sis- in law), orchiette and broccoli rabe, and lasagna bolognese. Prices very reasonable. Can’t wait to go back!

A
Anthony Luzzi

Had dinner there last night at the recommendation of a client and it was terrific. Great atmosphere, very attentive service and excellent food, carefully prepared and fresh! The orecchiette with broccoli rabe was exactly how my 91-year old Mon makes it. Definitely will go back!

Best Lasagna you’ve ever had. Update: June 2021 - the place hasn't lost it's touch. Took a guest from out of town with my family and everyone enjoyed everything we ate - and had one of the best (reasonably priced) Pinot Noir's we've ever had - excellent pairing. Keep up the good work!

This place is classic, simple, Italian at its best. My friend and I went for lunch on a Sunday. We did not have a reservation but we were lucky to get a table because we showed up right when it opened. Fresh, warm bread came out right away. We split a bottle of red wine. We also split the house salad - which was large and ok - reminded us of Olive Garden salad. We both ordered chicken parm (wasn't on the menu but the waitress said they could make it). The chicken was so so tender and delicious. It came with a side of roasted potatoes and french cut green beans. Both were seasoned perfectly. My friend also ordered a side of linguine and I ordered two meatballs.... I think the meatballs were the best part. We ate as much as we could but, ultimately, had to take some home. That meal was an absolute gem! Can't wait to return.

Great place to eat. The dining area is small so it can get hard to find a table during the lunch and dinner rush. The food is amazing. The lasagna is to die for as are the rice balls. Desserts are good as well.

We just love Tra Di Noi...! Well worth the Metro North quick train ride to Fordham Station from NYC. Make a reservation (or you can try to call the day of to do so, if you're dining early, 4 or 5) to not be disappointed... Their house salad is superb, citrus, olive oil: share! All dishes are fresh, cooked to perfection and spiced perfectly. It's kind and calm, unlike the other more well hyped Arthur Avenue spots. If you order right away you'll be out the door too quick. Order a bottle of wine (no bar drinks due to their close proximity to Catholic Church) then an appetizer. Go slow... servers are nice and attentive, but there is a little (unwarranted) pressure to turn tables, if you don't take control of the pace! We have brought so many friends here, and all can't wait to return. [By the way, don't even think about Little Italy downtown NYC, unless you want to be disappointed.] Arthur Avenue is the only Little Italy that matters! Mangia!

10/10! Will be back. My wife and I loved everything. Prosciutto and melon - prosciutto was sliced super thin and was very tasty. Shrimp fra diavola pasta was perfectly executed. Shrimps were juicy and sauce was nice and spicy. The scaloppine al limone - super tender with a beautiful lemon sauce and came with a ton of green beans and crispy & fluffy potatoes on the side, perfect for sharing with your SO. For dessert we had the tiramisu. Super soft texture with all the right flavors. Grazie Mille!

I went here with my partner during a spontaneous trip into Little Italy. After looking at a few options, we settled on Tra Di Noi. We did not have a reservation but the staff were very kind and accommodating. The food was wonderful. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. The staff were attentive, informative, friendly and helpful. Having eaten there once, I would make a trip if I'm anywhere near NYC just to come again. I also recommend walking around the neighborhood afterwards as the little bakeries are very good as well.

This is an excellent and authentic family owned Italian restaurant. The food was top notch and the service was pleasant and personable. The bread on the table was so fresh and crusty, loved it. Our veal entrees were perfection. Highly recommended.

This place is an absolute gem. A group of us discovered this special little spot a few years ago, and we keep coming back and love introducing others. It's a homey place, with classic Italian dishes that are cooked to perfection and extraordinarily tasty. The husband and wife team, husband (chef) and wife (front of the house) make a fantastic duo. There passion is felt throughout. Lori is always welcoming and thrives on seeing everyone enjoy their meal. Her husband never disappoints. The prices are earthly and a bottle of nice Italian wine won't break the bank, either. Favorites include the tripe and pork chop.

R
Robert Voss

There are only about 10 tables in this family-run restaurant, and the place is almost always full at lunchtime. With good reason. The food is outstanding, the servings are substantial, and the service is unfailingly friendly. This has been my family's go-to Italian restaurant in the Bronx for many years, and we've never had a disappointing meal.

L
Lida Breezee

A quaint gem on 187th in the Bronx. You feel like you are in Italy with the rustic Italian decor and checkered table clothes. The owners are always present. Husband is the chef and the wife is the very gracious hostess. The service is attentive and staff is/are always very friendly. And ooooh the food…. delicious, amazing and cooked to perfection! I love the Tripe, rice balls, calamari, osso buoco, baked clams, and I can go on and on. The food is always spot on in flavors and choices. Authentic Italian cuisine that does not disappoint! One more mention…the wine list is great! You must get the Montepulciano!

Excellent ! Came highly recommended, Went for an early lunch. The staff did everything possible to make sure my mother and I were completely satisfied from the moment we sat. Food is scrumptious! Started with the stuffed artichoke. Could've eaten a basket of the bread alone. Next came my gnocchi sorrentino special which I closed my eyes and delighted in one gnocchi at a time. I didn't want to finish my plate too quickly. Mom had an incredible lasagna with bolognese sauce. A wonderful Italian beer and Pinot grigio accompanied this fantastic lunch.

If I could give 10 Stars I would the food and service is one of the best! The specials are all amazing plus the staples on the menu. Everything is fresh the bread, salad and entrees are all made from scratch - Bravo chef Marco! Thank you for such a fabulous meal!

Everyone at the restaurant was genuinely nice and friendly. The owner himself gave up his table to accommodate us since we didn’t have a reservation. We were there for my birthday and I cannot thank him enough for his nice gesture. Food was delicious, especially the pork chop ,pistachio parfait and the cheesecake (yum). It’s a small family owned restaurant . Price is very reasonable. I highly recommend this Italian restaurant. Again, thank you very much especially to Chef Marco !!!

K

My friend an I had a wonderful experience here. We did not have a reservation and they fit us in anyway! They didn't turn anyone away while we were there and worked to fit everyone in. Edit - but making a reservation is advised! The service was prompt and everyone was so friendly. They were busy but the staff felt relaxed and friendly. They were so helpful and answered all of our questions. The food was delicious. They timed the dishes so we weren't rushed and they let us take our time and enjoy ourselves. They packed up our leftovers. The owners came out to check-in with everyone - it was a fun experience. I hope you take a time to visit this restaurant!

The insiders place to eat when visiting Arthur Avenue. Really good food, attentive service, warm and authentic atmosphere. Nicely appointed and very clean bathroom. Affordable prices, especially their wines. Owners are genuinely nice people. Get the homemade ricotta cheesecake. Highly recommend.

This is an amazing restaurant. Throw out the fake fancy decor for at-home amazing food. Marco does not disappoint. I'm almost afraid to leave this review as I don't want them to have lines waiting outside to eat, but they would if more people knew how amazing the food is, how friendly the staff is, and how great this place is. Not that there are times it's hard to get a table, there are. This is more like visiting family and having an amazing meal. There are plenty of restaurants in the area, few are as consistently as good.

V
Victor Jensen

Had the lamb bolognese and Italian cheesecake. Both were excellent. The cheesecake was much lighter than a NYC style, and had a slightly grainy texture. Service was a bit slow, as they only had two staff members for a full restaurant. Owner, Lori, came around and apologized and did everything she could to help her servers. Chef Marco also walked into the floor occasionally. As a service worker myself, it was a bit funny being on the other side for once. As a corporate employee, I was very jealous seeing the owners just on the floor chatting with staff and guests. I’ve only spoken to our owner once. I’ll absolutely be back. Support small businesses!

Best restaurant in little Italy (BX) hands down! The ingredients they use are not only fresh but incredibly flavorful as well. I never leave unsatisfied and the staff are great at making you feel welcomed & taken care of. They always have specials that rotate in and out but if you ever have a chance to try the meatballs do not miss out because they literally melt in your mouth. The cavatelli & lamb chops are also some amazing specials I’ve had in the past but honestly you can choose anything on the menu and its not going to disappoint. 5 stars

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Tra di noi, an authentic Italian gem nestled in the heart of Little Italy. From the moment I stepped through the door, I was transported to the charming streets of Italy, and the culinary experience that followed was nothing short of extraordinary. The Fettuccini Carbonara was a revelation, perfectly al dente pasta coated in a velvety sauce that harmoniously blended eggs, cheese, and pancetta. Each bite was a symphony of flavors that left me craving more. The Fried Calamari was a crispy delight, expertly seasoned and paired with a zesty dipping sauce. It showcased the chef's skill in balancing textures and tastes, making it a delightful appetizer that set the stage for the feast to come. The Octopus Salad was a refreshing surprise, featuring tender octopus combined with crisp vegetables and a citrus-infused dressing. The medley of flavors danced on my palate, creating a perfect harmony of the sea and garden. The attentive staff at Tra di noi added to the overall experience, providing excellent service without intruding on the intimate atmosphere. The ambiance was cozy, with an authentic charm that complemented the exquisite cuisine. In conclusion, Tra di noi is a culinary haven for those seeking a genuine taste of Italy in the heart of Little Italy. The Fettuccini Carbonara, Fried Calamari, and Octopus Salad are not just dishes; they are masterpieces that showcase the passion and expertise of the kitchen. If you're looking for an unforgettable dining experience, Tra di noi is the place to be. Buonissimo!

A lovely Italian restaurant in the heart of Little Italy. You are warmly greeted by very experienced personnel who are glad to help you understand their many dishes. We arrived a bit early for evening service and saw a guy hand making tortellini on the way in - great sign. I ordered the Gorgonzola pasta tortellini because that’s what he was making and it was delicious. We ordered a few different dishes to shares and they were all fresh and well flavoured. Good wine and good service too.

Just a short block and a half walk from the busting Arthur Avenue you'll stumble upon this gem of a restaurant. Chef Marco and his wife Laurie are the most welcoming of hosts. The food speaks for itself. Burratta, made in house, is delicate and flavorful. Pastas are cooked to perfection and seafood is of utmost freshness. The service team is phenomenal. Matilda and Todd are extremely welcoming and truly accommodate you! True Italian restaurant makes you feel like your in Italy! Always a pleasure when I'm here. FYI it's BYOW (bring your own wine- corking fee is $20)

The Bronx Little Italy has no shortage of Italian American spots that serve a pretty consistent menu. Tra Di Noi is a bit different. Sure they have the classics, Parms and Pastas, the specials board is where the magic is and where you have the option to try something different. The atmosphere is great, with the classic red and white tablecloths. There is ample outdoor seating. The wine is also very reasonably priced. Reservations over the phone are recommended.

We have true love for Tra Di Noi. The specials board or the menu, you will be swept away to childhood memories or Italy 🇮🇹 this visit we indulged on seafood salad, mussels, the burrata (!!), veal Marsala, veal parmigiana, and rigatoni with their tomato sauce. Plus desserts!! Suggest reservations on the weekend.

Each dish is a masterpiece, crafted with passion and authenticity. From classic pasta dishes bursting with flavor to the mouthwatering ossobuco every bite is a celebration of Italian cuisine. The attentive staff adds to the experience, providing impeccable service that makes you feel like family. The Cannonau was fantastic as well. This will always be my go to in Little Italy.

We go down to Arthur Ave for dinner from time to time and always like to try a new place. Tonight we decided on Tra Di Noi. It's on 187th street around the corner from Arthur Ave. The restaurant is small and cozy and has the old school Italian restaurant red checkered table cloths. We were greeted warmly by the hostess and seated at table against the wall in the dining Area. The table had salt, pepper, bread dishes, utensil set ups with a napkin and an olive oil bottle. A waiter came over and explained the specials to us and took out drink order. The waiter then brought us bread and water to start. They only have beer and wine and I asked for a non alcoholic beer but they don't serve it. The menu is small but has something for everyone and the specials more than make up for the smaller size menu. We ordered fried calamari and a mussels special for the appetizers. The calamari was ok. It was fried a little harder then I like but it was a nice size for 2 people and came with tubes and baby octopus. The Marinara with it was a little bland for my taste. The mussels in white wine appetizer was fantastic and a great portion. For the entree we had an order of the pork chop with vinegar peppers specials and a rigatoni special. Both entrees were delicious and they came with a small plate of fingerling potatoes and string beans that were nicely sauteed with garlic and oil. We split a piece of homemade Italian cheesecake and I had an espresso and both were absolutely delicious. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and attentive. The waiter came by and offered us more bread which a lot of places dont do. This is a real Italian restaurant owned and operated by real Italians which is something that is hard to come by these days in the Italian restaurant business. The food is as close to homemade as you can get. It's not mass produced so you are not going to get heaping portions like you may get in other places but what you do get is a dish that is crafted with care to be as authentic as possible. The restaurant is quiant and cozy and is staffed by friendly people. We left the restaurant happy and you will as well.

Our son brought us to this restaurant before we moved to New York City. We have been back many times. It reminds me of our family’s , favorite restaurant from my childhood. We were a group of 6, weekday, 12:30 reservation, delicious lunches: 3 ate sole special while 3 ate branzino special. Bread was outstanding, appetizer was calamari (nothing left on plate), and our meals were served very quickly. Wine and prosecco were enjoyed as well. Would return!

Great, classic Italian restaurant. Family run, kid friendly. Small with specials on a chalkboard. The chef is an older gentleman who I assume is Italian. You need to go here while it still exists. These kind of places are disappearing!

Delicious and totally legit – I could eat here every day. The waitstaff are extremely attentive and knowledgeable. The old-school tablecloths and classic tunes create the perfect nostalgic vibe. Easy to hold a conversation, and overall a great experience every time. Whether you’re popping in for a quick lunch or kicking back for a chill dinner, Tra Di Noi always hits the spot. Totally worth it.

Went here for the first time today to have a leisurely lunch with my parents. We sat by the window, so we got to take in Belmont’s street life while enjoying the best Italian-American food I’ve had since living in NYC. Everything was prepared simply and packed with flavor. The staff was very attentive, and the owners, who were both sitting in the dining room the whole time, were very welcoming.

We have been coming to Tra Di Noi for twenty years, usually for special family gatherings. I know of no other restaurant in NYC that has been so consistently excellent for so long. This is a mom and pop shop that with mom running the floor and pop running the kitchen. Old school charm. We came with a party of 12. For appetizers we ordered calamari fritti, mussels marechiaro, and the melon prosciutto. All delicious especially the calamari. For mains we had the soft shell crab, gnocchi, pork chop and sole meunierre specials as well as the veal scalloppine, polla scarpariello, rigatoni and linguine. House potatoes and string beans as sides. Everyone raved about their dishes. Dessert was equally fantastic including perfect Italian cheesecake! You need reservations during peak times. We love this cozy warm spot off Arthur Ave and will keep coming back as the food is to die for!

If you can get in? Do it. We got in late Afternoon on a Saturday, and had a gorgeous and leisurely meal. Roman Artichokes, Osso Buco in risotto, linguine vongole, the best Pork Chop on the planet, and a Pappardelle with Truffle sauce that was OCF THE CHAIN delicious..... Absolutely incredible experience in the Arthur Avenue neighborhood.

One of the all-around best places I've eaten in NYC. Order the specials. They have a basic regular menu, but the only dish I've ever seen at this place that was less than stellar came off the regular menu, and the specials are always delicious. I'm still hoping to someday again come across the thing I had with fava beans my very first time there. Used to live nearby and it took me a bit to get the hang of making reservations in advance, but they were always so kind and professional and found a way to seat us, even as they begged us to make a reservation next time (which we finally did). Staff still remembers us even though we moved boroughs and now only go every 8-12 months. Can't get there on public transit without transfers and walking, but yes, it's still worth leaving our borough.

I was blown away by this magnificent authentic Italian restaurant!! It's everything you can imagine....all Italian from the table clothes to the decor, the friendly welcoming service! A chalkboard of specials; handmade burratta, pasta I'm still dreaming about. Wine selection is superb, get a bottle; you can take any left home with you. I don't live in NY but it's worth a trip to Bronx, NY to enjoy a meal here. An experience I can't wait to come back to. Thank you for welcoming us without a reservation.

This is a very small family owned and operated restaurant. The menu is small with the daily specials written on the wall. The bread is not warm. They don't serve it with butter or the traditional oil and herbs. With that said, the food is phenomenal. If you ever have the chance to order the meatballs, they are amazing. The penne pasta is like no other. So far, everything on the menu has been great.

F

Tra Di Noi is wonderful Italian food in the Bronx Belmont neighborhood (Little Italy) that has plenty of decent Italian. The decor is simple if not traditional (think red checked tablecloths). The service is quite attentive. The chef is modest, understated and at times brilliant in his preparation of dishes old and new. The pastas are great and the seafood dishes even more so. Highly recommended.

We have eaten here so many times and have never been disappointed. And, we have brought different friends each time and all love it. My Italian friend said that the marinara sauce was the best she ever had. We all agreed with her on that. And, another friend said that the osso bucco was also the best he ever had. And, I just love the chicken and sausage scarpiello. The menu is limited; but that is probably what keeps each dish being so good. Veggies and potatoes are served family style. Reservations are recommended for a Friday or Saturday night since the restaurant is small.

We went there 2 weeks ago. The Italian food was amazing.

Great Italian spot - lots of specials that seem to rotate (server mentioned meatball dish was only available on Sunday), nice ambiance, and all our food was good. The burrata was fantastic, and we really enjoyed the Gorgonzola ravioli. The dishes are quite expensive compared to the rest of the area, but delicious nonetheless. Definitely recommend as part of exploring the great Italian food in the neighbourhood!

Food truck at emera with real deal pizza oven which was a plus in my eyes. My pizza order came out quick. The pizza is well made. They was out of basil for my margherita hence only four stars The young men running the operation were very respectful and good customer service. Stock up on fresh basil and next time I give five stars. My friend got the vegetarian pizza it looks good.

Lovely little , family-owned restaurant off Arthur Avenue. Prosciutto and melon appetizer was lovely as was the light tomato sauce on the aranciani. Main course was delicious, light gnocchi with just the right bite with a fresh tomato aauce. Service was welcoming and helpful. Highly recommend.

Love the small town feel you get from the moment you enter until you leave. This place is all about love. I'm not a big salt guy but in this case it needed it but besides that the food was delicious but for the show stopper was the cheesecake. One of the best I've ever had. It was airy but most importantly it wasn't sugary.

Could have been better, but she spoiled it. We went for a dinner for my wife’s birthday. Food was excellent but we received discrimination from a staff member who was taking order. I hope she improves her attitude towards customers and be less money-oriented. Gratuity is an informal tip given by customer which depends on service provided to customer. And on the top she said “Do not come again, we won’t be able to serve you.”

We usually have a good experience here but yesterday left a bad taste in our mouths. We were shopping on Arthur Ave and stopped here for lunch. We have been here a few times before and always enjoyed our food. We were a bit pressed for time and not very hungry so we wanted to order a couple of appetizers and split a salad for 2 that was on the menu. When we placed our order or tried to at least the waitress questioned the fact that we weren't ordering entrees. She went on to say the owner/chef would not accept an order without entrees on it . We asked to share the salad and 1 entree. That didn't satisfy her either. She said the entrees won't cost you much more. Um, not the point. We weren't that hungry and we just wanted a quick bite. So we ordered 2 entrees and nothing else. No appetizers, no salad, no coffee or dessert. I wound up taking half of mine home. Trust and believe that if we had the time to go walk around to go somewhere else we would have gotten up and left. I don't think any restaurant should be able to dictate what you can and cannot order. Not sure if we will ever go back. Other restaurants I would prefer to give my money too. In this environment restaurants should be happy for all business.

I don't like to leave bad reviews. If you look through my profile, you'll see that I've only ever given five star reviews, all to places I've really liked. If I've ever gotten bad service or food somewhere, I just keep it to myself, because I wouldn't want to hurt someone's business. But our waitress was racist to my friends and I (one white, one Asian, one West Indian) yesterday in a way that was hard to ignore; even though we were seated before the tables around us, our waitress gave them menus and water and ignored us (it was not especially busy). We spent about fifteen minutes after they got their menus and water trying to get her attention, and only got them after my friend stood up and called across the restaurant to ask for menus. I asked for water when we got the menus, and the waitress rolled her eyes before bringing it. She was pretty curt with the service throughout our meal, but I won't begrudge her for that; where I draw the line is that when we we paid our check and were getting up to leave, she told us to vacate immediately (as if we had been lingering), because she needed to clear the table for other guests (there were maybe three or four people waiting to be seated). I think when many white people are racist, especially when it's a customer at their job, they'll express their racism in a way they think is undetectable, or is defensible if someone calls them out for it (I'm already anticipating someone at the restaurant commenting on this review explaining that we misinterpreted the behavior, or did something to justify it). But the truth is, people of color pretty much always know what's going on, we're not stupid, it's all happened to us before, we see how you treat other people versus us and run through the gamut of explanations before we turn to the blatant one. It stands out especially given that I'm a person of color who was born and raised in New York City, and even if a white person serving my food doesn't like me, I'm sure they usually deal with enough people of color on a daily basis that they learn to mask it. I saw the other review from a person here who said someone was racist to their own party and I ignored it, I guess assuming there might have been some sort of misunderstanding. And to be fair, the male staff member who brought our dishes and helped with our table service throughout was kind, attentive, and charming -- I don't think there's an issue at the restaurant as a whole. I'm only really writing this review to express that we were degraded today, and since this has happened to two parties maybe someone could have a word with the staff about how *some* of them treat people. I liked some of the food -- I liked the veal and the gnocchi, and the espresso was great. The orchiette wasn't amazing; I expected better of everything given how highly The Infatuation rated them. If you're a person of color looking to eat in the neighborhood, maybe try Enzo's or Zero Otto Nove instead.

Very disappointed. First time dining here. Three ordered veal pram... 2 small medallions with cold cut type mozzarella not the real deal. Other diner had veal with mushrooms which were canned. Not what one expects in little Italy. Service was terrible. Tried getting waiter's attention for 15 min to get the check. Will never go back. There are many other really good restaurants to dine in.

Do not go here. The quality of the food was very good but the experience was ruined by the rude waitress. She provided a curt and disrespectful service and then demanded a bigger tip even though I provided a standard sufficient tip. She stated that she would never take a reservation from me in the future if I did not increase my amount. Of course, I will never ask for a reservation after such treatment.

Have had a dozen good meals here previously, but this one was poorly prepared and almost unrecognizably sub-par for me and my husband. Osso buco meat seemed like it wasn't cooked in the sauce. Sauce was like a diner brown gravy, no aromatics, no tomato. Risotto was supposed to be saffron but no saffron or any other flavor present. Apps were disappointing too. Did they change chefs or run out of money?

Party of 2 Dined here for lunch. We arrived for our lunch reservation at 11:50 We were told to wait outside until noon.Hostess could not seat us prior to noon. We waited outside for 10 minutes. We entered the restaurant and were seated promptly. The waitress/hostess immediately came over to take our drink order. She seemed annoyed that we only ordered Pellegrino. Waiter quickly returned with Pellegrino $8 and our menus. Hostess gave us just a few minutes and then she returned to take our order. We explained to her that we had not even opened the menus. Again, she returned just a moment later. And stood there while we looked at the menu. We felt rushed. There was no one else in the restaurant. She never explained the specials. We placed an order of one appetizer and one entree, We were told they would be a sharing charge $3 . We said that would not be a problem because we did not want to eat such large meals at lunchtime. We were served an appetizer of a house salad, which consisted of iceberg lettuce, three pieces of tomato and red onion $14. Our entrées of one pork chop with just a few jarred peppers was then served. A small plate of vegetables, consisting of roasted potatoes, and string beans was served as a side. . The entrée of one pork chop with sharing charge was $36. No one came to check on us.Bread was not served. Again the same waitress/hostess appeared and asked about dessert. We told her we would not be having dessert today. She just walked away. Did not say a word to us. A waiter came back placed our bill on Table. He did not say thank you. We paid our bill and left. We were very disappointed as we had seen good reviews of this restaurant. The prices seemed high and the service was poor. However, what’s most egregious was We truly felt rushed and unwelcome . Please note there was one other table of patrons when we left. The restaurant was empty. That should say some thing to the owner on what should’ve been a busy Saturday afternoon. .

The food was acceptable but pricier than it should be. Staff were rude and had attitude. They neither listened nor communicated, and charged us extra. Also they weren’t happy to have children around. They didn’t serve water or silverware for children and constantly gave us looks.

Julian Togelius

Their food is good but their attitude is not. There didn’t listen properly when we ordered, so we got an extra dish we hadn’t ordered. They charged us extra to share a plate without telling us first. And they seemed upset that our toddler spilled food on the floor. Maybe they were not happy that we brought kids at all, as the kids were not provided with cutlery. Generally, they were quite rude and we did not feel welcome as a family with kids. It’s a shame, as I really wanted to like this place.

Went there with six people four times. The last two were terrible in as much as on one occasion a individual in the group order a veal chop and it was so tough she couldn’t cut it. She ask for something to replace it and was later chastised by the owner. The last time I ordered a bottle of wine and in tasting I felt it had turned. I had two others at the tabke try it and they agreed . I told the waiter and he insisted the wine was fine and I didn’t have to drink it but I would have to pay for it. Obviously the last time our group will eat there.

I had great friend refer me to this restaurant. They said go Sunday’s because they will seat without reservations. I walked in with 5 empty tables. It wasn’t busy either. We were told by the waiter to wait because they’re checking on availability. About 5 min later a gentleman walks up to my family, looked like the owner or manager, & let us know nothing was available. Horrible.. I was very much looking forward to eating here & came with quiet an empty stomach.

For a family restaurant I was waiting for something more cozy. But since the entrance I felt like the server has a necessity to sell the most expensive dish. The pasta I asked for wasnt "al dente" but hard and very expensive considering how basic it was. (literally just rigatoni with tomato sauce) $23!! Didn't even offered me some parmesan cheese to put on it. The owner sitted on a table cutting meat, doesn't even make eye contact to greet the customers. American music in a "traditional" Italian restaurant?? Come on!.. I didn't even thought about dessert anymore..

We are shocked by how rudely we were treated at Tra Di Noi today. We had visited the restaurant several times before and had enjoyed it in the past. We ordered two dishes to share, the unfriendly waitress immediately informing us of the extra fee for sharing. Ok. Bringing out both dishes at the same time, we asked if one could be kept warm. Completely indifferent to our request, we ate the cold second dish, inexpertly prepared, mediocre at best. When we requested Parmesan for the pasta the equally rude bus-boy refused to leave the small container at the table, insisting on putting it on the pasta even though my partner requested no cheese. The staff seemed to take an odd pleasure in being unaccommodating and unwelcoming. When we attempted to pay the check with 2 credit cards, they insisted payment can only be accepted on one credit card; again, we’d eaten there before with this never having been an issue. To top off the hostile vibes we were getting from the staff, the cook/maybe owner came over in his stained apron to request that we leave immediately to “prepare for the dinner service,” rudely insinuating that our presence was an inconvenience. I noticed the waitress enjoying the encounter wearing a smug smile. Wow - what an unpleasant experience we’ll certainly never repeat!

Visited this establishment on my birthday and I can definitely say it did not pass the vibe check. Nobody was inside but since the reviews were good we wanted to try it for an appetizer and a glass of wine. Once we ordered all eyes were on us. We ordered the clams and they were average at best. Once we finished our 3 glasses of wine and one appetizer that was literally 5 clams we kindly asked for the bill. We were met with immense hostility and were told we needed to order a main course in order to be able to pay and leave… we said we were not told that when we initially sat down and that we just wanted to pay and leave. The server blamed it on the owner and we requested to speak to him. Once he came over all we got was weird excuses as to why we had to order the main. He told us he had so many reservations and we were taking up a table when there was LITERALLY one other table and we were literally asking to leave. The owner stormed away and we asked for the bill again and waited for another five minutes until we were literally forced to have to go up and ask for it. If you want us to leave because you’re so busy then give us the freaking bill. Food was mid service was despicable. For an 80 dollar meal go to Enzo’s.

I went with my girlfriend and her son for lunch. Wow! These people were beyond rude. They offered glass bottle of tap water or sparkling water. Because my GF is the only one that drinks sparkling water I felt the need to ask if there was a charge for regular water and small amount of sparkling water. The rude bus boy stated rudely “ And what restaurant doesn’t charge for that”?? Not necessary to be rude or sarcastic, just give me the price. Then came the rudest waitress. I knew this was a mistake of a choice for lunch which ended up costing us $110 for the smallest portion of bake clams, no extra bread, two main course which were mediocre. I should have read all their poor reviews. I should have seen how empty the place was also. People don’t lie about this stuff. Food flavor can be subjective, but service and rudeness can’t be a fake make up story.

This place was horrific in many ways. It was very expensive for the amount of food they serve you. To start they give you “ONE” piece of bread per person and if you dare to request more they charge. It was three of us and only gave us 3 slices of cold bread which is fine, but when finally our food came out and I asked for a little more bread the rude waitress said “there a charge, didn’t the bus boy tell you that?” I asked the bus boy twice and he kept saying yes !yes with nothing ever happening. Finally I had to call the waitress over twice with a hand signal. The food is very expensive and you don’t even get pasta with the chicken Parmesan or any of the dishes, their sauce to go on top of the chicken Parmesan was not good at all and was just slapped with a piece of deli mozzarella cheese, not even nicely melted. This dish was not worth $25 at all. Come on!! Pasta is cheap and so is bread. Not worth the $130 bill for 3 people and no extra bread, no pasta. That was an expensive lunch bill and we didn’t even have any drinks. The waitress never came to see how was everything, she was totally dismissive and just sitting with the owner on a different table chatting away. Not a good Italian restaurant at all and I have been to so many good Italian restaurants in the city with in the same price budget, definitely not this one. Rude and cheap people. Will never have my business again.

My friend and I were looking for a place for lunch while shopping on Arthur Ave. We go often and had never eaten there. We will never eat there again. 3 strikes you're out we walked in and were told we had to sit in a certain table even though we asked if we could sit elsewhere it wasn't crowded. Then they gave us 2 pieces of bread and when we asked for more we're told only one basket or table, strike 2, they brought us a small plate of green beans and potatoes for both of us and thru it all the waitress was rude and not welcoming. 3rd strike was when we got the check we asked if we could split it on a credit card, not allowed there, we do it all the time! Food was just ok but with all the great restaurants you can choose from, don't go there! Wish I had reviews before !

I never write reviews, but feel that I must. Although the food was good - not great - the RUDENESS of the woman in charge was beyond belief. There was a hub-bub at the table next to us and the woman in charge was chastising them because they didn’t leave a big enough tip. Then, my adult son was told to sit on the other side of the table (we were a party of 3) to make it easier for the waiter. WHY put a chair in a position where you don’t want anyone to sit in? The SECOND we were done with dessert, it was whisked away - there was the last spoonful of gelato I had so satisfyingly wanted to have - but no! The check was paid during dessert and as the dessert was whisked away, the rude woman told us to leave because there was another reservation. We were there a little over an hour. On our way out, as I was getting my coat from the very cramped entrance way, a customer was standing there and I said that I hope she doesn’t get yelled at as we did. I could not believe that she said she already was yelled at for being early for her reservation. Unbelievable

We stopped in after shopping on Arthur Ave, and were not very hungry. We were going to split 3 or 4 appetizers, it was right at noon when they opened and the place was dead, only one other table seated. The waiter said "no, you have to order at least two entrees, the owner doesn't like it." Dude, it's noon, we're your second table in the restaurant. Extremely rude, we ended up leaving and going to Mezza Luna for a slice of pizza. We'd rather give our money to someone who wants business without forcing us to order food we wouldn't eat.

Place is garbage, small shoebox of a place and they really think their food is gods gift to earth the way service works. Your food is nothing special. Any other Italian restaurant is just as good.

Not sure where to start so many things were off. The wait staff is very busy and not attentive at all. My friend and I ordered 2 appetizers and a lasagna. We were sharing all the dishes. This $61 order apparently was a huge disappointment to the staff. All 3 dishes were brought out at once as opposed to having appetizers first. We repeatedly asked for some bread and some lemons for the water. No lemons ever arrived and after 3 requests for bread we were told we did not order enough to warrant a piece of bread. We weren’t asked if we wanted desert and were just given the check. This is Arthur Avenue there are plenty of other better places to go to eat. Oh, the food, fried calamari was just average, salad also, the lasagna was good. It was very clear we were not wanted.

I dined here today with some of my friends for lunch. We walked from the botanical gardens and we were famished. Three of us ordered stuffed artichokes. I have to say the artichokes had absolutely no taste. I don’t know if these people know what garlic is. They were horrible. We shared an order of soft shell crabs, which were very good. We were brought over a platter of potatoes and string beans, which were very good and the other person in our party had pasta with broccoli ran which she said was just OK. We told the waiter that the artichokes had absolutely no taste, and he told the chef who was sitting at the table right behind us. We thought the chef would at least come over and say I’m sorry that you didn’t like the artichokes but we got nothing. I’ll be sure never to dine in this restaurant again.
