Opinions de Acre Brooklyn
Cute little spot with some tasty food and drinks! There’s some merchandise up front with items like pottery, candles, incense, bowls, spoons, and the like. The baked goods at the front counter look delicious, yet to try. When ordering hot food be prepared to wait a bit, especially if they’re busy, as the food comes out fresh and hot! I had my first espresso tonic at Acre and it was great! I was in the mood for a cold drink and made the switch from cold brew to espresso tonic based on barista’s recommendation. It was so good that I purchase some tonic so I can make at home!
Cute bento boxes and the chicken was incredible. Juicy, flavorful. Not heavy at all and the mayo / sauce was great balance. Order at the front and seating behind the curtain. Just wish there was A/C and the indoor seating wasn’t so cramped and loud.
Great good. Relaxed but quality. Ordering was a bit confusing - you order in the cafe then find a seat and they bring your food to you. But once that was sorted all was good. Great coffee. Delicious food. A casual atmosphere somewhere between a coffee shop and restaurant.
This place deserves a 5 star review The food was spectacular, it’s flavorful, in a beautiful setup and we enjoyed every bite. My one in only remark is that I found it be a bit too small of a portion. Other than that, highly recommend, the place is cozy and comfortable and very well designed with a little store with stunning merchandise✨✨
I tried this place in 2023 so this review is late but I would jump on a plane right now to Brooklyn to dine at Acre again. It wasn’t on my itinerary to come here but I was getting hungry and came across this place so I decided to give it a shot. I ordered the chicken karage sandwich with a side edamame salad. I also ordered a tea but don’t remember what it was. It was a bit of wait but it was so worth it. The chicken was so juicy and crispy and the salad was refreshing. I walked out very satiated. Acre will definitely me on the itinerary next time I visit Brooklyn.
This place is a vibe. From the first moment you enter they have Japanese merchandises on display and then the counter to order. It was my first time ordering and the staff helped me pick my options. My order was ready in 5 minutes, they are clean and the kitchen opens up to the seating area and you dont have any cooking smell. I will be back and recommend trying it if you are in the area.
Acre is absolutely delicious. The chicken sandwich is fresh and flavorful (try it with a matcha latte). Also, find a table in the back patio for some fresh air dining. The wait time is never very long for food, and the staff is kind. This is a great spot for brunch or lunch in Greenpoint. You will be glad you paid the visit!
Party of 5. Went on a rainy Sunday and the line was at the door. Very popular place. Surprisingly we got a table after we ordered. It's a first come first order to get a table. For drinks, honey yuzu and hochicha were very good, 👍. Ordered pesto avocado sandwich, pork katsu bento, chicken curry bento, vinegar fried chicken bento box, and the salmon bento box. All were good but salmon was our least favorite. Came with salad, brussel sprouts, black (purple colored) rice, and pickled radishes. Portion size is good for breakfast. Not heavy. Service was nice. It's not a fancy restaurant but a rustic Japanese coffee breakfast shop. Would come again.
Brought here by a friend who had nothing but good things to say. Like the concept and the portions are healthy—enough for leftovers if you’re not famished, but the pricing feels close to sit-down style restaurant (and here you are doing most of the service yourself). The quality and freshness was excellent and everything cooked well. For me, taste wise was a tad bland but I’d rather that than doused in obnoxious sauces. Went at a busy time and felt a little squished with a packed line at the bakery/register/store section (trying not to knock into things or people) and then a little wait for a table to free up. Got some pastries for the road which were delicious even cold.
Recently I went into a restaurant where I passed by. It’s a bento restaurant run by Japanese. I always go to Japanese restaurants run by Japanese. Atmosphere and interior design of the restaurant is stylish. They use two elements for Interior design, it’s combining New York industrial style with natural wood. The wood material and color soften the style of steel. Outdoors dining is a fantastic choice, it’s very comfortable when the weather is good. I like the open kitchen and self-service. The pickled radish in the bento is delicious, and the Japanese fried chicken is tender and soft, which goes well with purple rice. However, the brussels sprouts are a bit too hard and too salty. As for salads, they have never been my favorite. You can also purchase high-quality made in Japan organic matcha powder for tea ceremonies use and other high quality items import from Japan. I will definitely come back.
8/25/23 During waiting for street parking to be available. I finally, stopped by to have lunch at ACRE. I wasn't super hungry, so I choose salmon bento box. I was surprised that this place is self-service and so follow the trend. For self-service price, the price should be cheaper. The ambiance is great, very Japanese garden style. I was glad I went early the day because when I passed by before, this place always packed and crowded but this time it wasn't busy at all. You order food and drink at the counter and pay then they give you an alarm to notify you when your food is ready then you go pick it up by yourself and bring it back to your seat. This place looks like a cafe style more that restaurant. You can bring your laptop or any work to work there as long as you want. By the way food taste good and the quality is amazing. review on 1/4/23 I just want to check out this restaurant, their menu is interesting, but I only have half hour left on my break, plus they close early so I don't have a chance to eat here. So I decided to just get a Cappuccino here. While I'm waiting, I walk around a small cafe area seeing nice stuff they sell. The coffee taste nice and I will find the time to come back to eat at this place.
Pretty good food. But $23 for a bento box, plus you order at a counter with a cashier they give you a pager to pick up your food at another counter and then slide the iPad back asking about a tip. Maybe it’s just a pet peeve of mine but in this situations I’d hope the tip is included in the pricing of the food.
We live in the neighborhood and used to come to Acre regularly since they first opened. Unfortunately, something has seriously changed — and not for the better. Lately, the staff has become unbelievably picky about the most ridiculous things, to the point where it feels unwelcoming and tense the moment you walk in. And if you have kids? Forget it. This place is absolutely not kid-friendly, despite pretending to be a neighborhood spot. You can immediately tell from the owner/manager’s attitude (who clearly has kids herself, which makes it even more disappointing) that families are no longer welcome. The looks, the comments, the constant nitpicking — it makes you feel judged instead of relaxed. A neighborhood restaurant should feel warm and inclusive. Acre now feels the opposite: cold, uptight, and frankly unpleasant. We won’t be coming back. There are plenty of other places nearby that actually respect families and know how to treat regulars.
