Really great bagels and spreads, plus a huge juice and sandwich menu that I didn't get a chance to try yet. Got an everything bagel with olive pimento cream cheese, and there were a lot of toppings on both.
They have 20 kinds of cream cheese!
Some of the best bagels I've had in NYC, with a huge selection of cream-cheese and bagel toppings. I'm never disappointed here. The BEC is a must.
OMG I had the rainbow bagel and lox yo let me tell you this bagel was incredible soft they did the lox welldone for me!!!! I went back the next morning and I have been going all the time! really a great breakfast spot*******
Best bagels in the neighborhood!
This place makes delicious bagels and is my go-to for lunch almost everyday.
Best bagels in Clinton Hill! Fresh ingredients and friendly staff. Egg sandwiches take a little long to make, but worth the wait!
Best bagels in the area. Can't go wrong with their sausage egg and cheese or lox specials. Pesto Chicken Panini is also fire.
Totally delicious, no frills, local bakery with a wide variety of offerings. Totally delightful Breakfast bagel sandwiches and the nana smoothie is delicious. Love this place.
Fantastic bagels, cream cheese, and smoothies! Mango Passion smoothie with a bagel and scallion cream cheese was my choice, fast and good prices!
This was our favorite breakfast spot in NYC. The bagels were really good, staff was friendly all the time! Really recommend it
baconeggncheese salt and pepper extra pepper on an everything toasted plz. best bagels in fort greene. where else are you gonna go? bergen? no thx lol. smoothies are also very good.
Nice staff and definitely the best bagels I have ever had, such a huge and fresh choice of toppings. Too bad I am a tourist - if I could, I would come here every day to grab my breakfast. Great Quality. Thanks!!
I've been going for the grilled cheese and tomato soup. It is delicious. I plan to try other things, but I haven't yet. The place is very clean and the people are awesome. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing, excellent, warm atmosphere, friendly staff. Delicious food and what else? I love being there. I definitely will go there when I go to New York again. I highly recommend there.
Great bagel place in nice neighborhood. Ordered chicken salad (which was great) on a hole-less everything bagel (toasted to perfection). This is probably the best idea of the last century. You get the great taste of a bagel with all the advantages of traditional bread.
I’ve been three times now and always enjoyed the bagels and coffee. The space is small and gets chaotic at busy times but the staff really hustles to get you served. It’s in a nice neighborhood and has a few window seats as well as bench out front.
The perfect NYC bagel shop. Their everything bagel with bacon, egg and cheese (BEC) is exactly the way out of a late night. Love that the bacon is crispy!
Best bagel shop in the neighborhood— great for grab and go breakfast to eat at Fort Greene Park. The line can get long on the weekend so go early or be prepared to wait a little longer.
Fast, reliable, nice portions & a great to-go lunch spot with many options and great pricing. Everyone working there is always nice and considerate. I’m a big fan of their wraps and paninis.
My personal pick for great bagel place. Could be because live close by but it also has great selection of cream cheeses, bagels are fantastic and they make food quick. Friendly staff.
Bagel World is a solid as a rock. They're not about that bougie-bs and they serve up big heaping piles o' cream cheese between their chunky bagels. Mmm. Waiting for the order to be ready just makes the belly grow fonder. If you're looking for a real one, Bagel World is it. 5 egg bagel colored stars.
Best bagels I've had. Perfect blueberry cream cheese. Blueberry muffin too sweet for my taste, but filled with blueberries. Go to spot if I'm in the area.
I absolutely love these bagels. I might go so far as to say, in my opinion, this is the best bagel in the city (crazy, right!). They’re at least the best in the neighborhood. I love the pumpernickel everything bagel, toasted, with scallion cream cheese or lox deluxe. Really anything, I’ve tried so many types over the years. Perfectly toasted and soft/warm on the inside. No bathroom, not many seats inside, still worth it. Garden patio in the summer! Short walk to the park to enjoy nice weather. Also the staff are wonderful and work so hard every day.
Every time I go to a different bagel shop, I love Bagel World more. Why go anywhere else? The bagels are perfect. And they have pumpernickel everything! 🥰
The bagels and more importantly, the cream cheese, at this counter service restaurant is amazing. My partner and I came they're expecting to also have to stop by Dough Donuts but we were pleasantly surprised at they had those Dough Donuts there as well. Bagel world is a great spot. A must visit on a lazy Saturday or Sunday morning.
Best local bagel spot. I always get a bacon, egg, and cheese on a toasted everything bagel with salt, pepper, and ketchup. Really good
If you live in the part of fort Greene near the navy yard this is easily the best bagel place within walking distance. Russ and daughters isn't terrible, but the bagels are small, often not as fresh, and the service is abysmally slow. For all that you pay a premium for the name. Walk the 10 minutes to bagel world instead.
The best bagels i ever had went there all the time when i loves in the area. Just go there! They should have better rating.
Yummy bagels! Good vibes. I always get an everything bagel toasted with herb and garlic cream cheese and it never disappoints. I can always trust this place to come through with a delicious bagel. Reasonably priced and nice staff too!
A few years ago I left a less-than-stellar review of this place. Stating that their menu is too large, their bagels toasted too much, and their pesto lacking. I have come back to say that I was wrong. I no longer have hate in my heart for this Brooklyn icon. I had the privilege of being able to travel through this country and taste several other people's take on the new york bagel and its various combinations. I have seen what the mid-west, the south, the great California coast had to offer in their breakfast options. And I return back to the single step of Fort Greene Bagel World and decree, there is no where else id rather be than standing in line on a Sunday morning to get a delicious bagel.
Definitely the best bagels in the area. Very traditional Brooklyn bagel shop with big menus. The prices are reasonable, lox bagel for $11-12 and most other kinds are below $6. They also have fresh squeezed oj. The workers are super fast and efficient. Quality neighborhood spot, great to grab a bagel and head to the park!
This place rulesssss. Staff is careful and quick, bagels are great, little back patio is super cute
Went to this place a few days ago, they were so lovely and kind! There’s so many great options, amazing vegan options as while. Definitely recommend this to anyone that’s in the area.
Came here at the weekend and really loved it all! Great selection of cream cheese and very affordable, the bagels themselves were nice and soft - there was a great selection of chilled drinks at great prices too! I got an everything bagel with scallion cream cheese, bacon and sriracha.
Love this place! Everything is super fresh except the tomatoes sometimes. The majority of the time I have to take it off my sandwich and throw it away! The muffins are outstanding! The bagels are yummy ! It’s very expensive but worth it . Just don’t get tomatoes on anything
The best option for fresh bagels baked on premises in the area. Actually, really good in its own right. Staff are quick and efficient, and they normally have tofu cream cheese for us vegans.
Very unassuming little place in the neighborhood, it is tiny, with a few tiny tables, so don't plan on bringing a big party to sit and eat. But don't let the size fool you, they have a very extensive menu of bagels and lots of other stuff to make a good, fresh, preferably to go meal. If you are hungry, don't stop at just a bagel with cream cheese, they are very good at making more complex items quickly.
This used to be the best bagel place in the neighborhood. They have new owners and are still pretty good, but my favorite, the everything bagel has changed, and prices have gone up. Still, I think this place is good. They have a large selection of bagels, and they are not stingy with the additions on the bagels (everything, sesame seed, etc). The bagels are nicely coated, although only on one side now. The staff is very friendly and generally gets the orders correct. Here's a tip, if you want to order from here, call the store directly and ask for delivery. It will usually come much quicker, correct, and for a lot less than you would pay if ordering from seamless/grub hub.
Solid bagel spot, tastes really good, but they skimp heavy on the cream cheese. And if you ask him to put a tiny bit more, they charge you. I would recommend this place more for people who want bagel sandwiches than for people who want just a bagel and cream cheese.
Bagel tastes good. A bacon EGGGG and cheese type of place.
Found my perfect neighborhood bagel spot 🙌🏽. I got the classic everything bagel with jalepeno cheddar cream cheese. It was fresh and delicious. This spot gets busy. Their menu is extensive so next up on my list is their breakfast sandwich.
Busy bagel shop. Cashier was neither rude nor inviting. Sandwich took a while to make, while people with coffee orders skipped line. Asked how I like my coffee, then gave it to me plain. Meanwhile, the guy who skipped got steamed milk and sugar added in. Nice assortment of spreads and salads. Bagel was ok. Seems to be popular, but I thought it was mediocre.
My daily morning bagel spot! During my one-month work placement abroad in Brooklyn, I would go a longer route to work via this bagel spot (and a coffee from Nostrand Coffee Roasters across the street). I got the Blueberry Bagel (toasted with butter), and my partner loved the Everything Bagel w/ bacon, egg & cheese. The bagel spot is quite tight and busy in the morning, but it is worth the little wait. There are also some seats outside and bar seats along the window but I’ve always ordered to-go. Note: this is a bagel shop, I tried to be adventurous one morning and ordered a cinnamon roll and black & white cookie but was a little disappointed as expected.
Food is delicious, people are nice. A few suggestions that could make it five stars: 1) get paper menus, or at least a qr code. There are ways too many items on the menu to fit on the wall, and to read them, you have to get in everyone’s way. 2) Take people’s name when they order. People are much more likely to respond to their name rather than “TOASTED PLAIN W/ TOMATO” Overall crowded atmosphere but the back patio is splendid! Best bagels in the area
Nice people but the bagels themselves are pretty middling by New York standards and things tend to take a while to come out.
Bagels aren't bad. Overpriced though but it goes with the area if Brooklyn. Better off going to a deli if you're worried about prices. The wait time for your order is a bit long sometimes.
Getting a simple bagel is good option here! I was pretty disappointed with their breakfast bagels. It tasted burnt and like rubber.
As far as bagel places in NY, bagel world is mediocre. Nothing special about it. Long lines from locals but I think that is because it is one of the few options you can walk to that is better than bodega bagels in the area. They go super light on the cream cheese too.
A little pricey, good food. The muffin was disappointing, tasted like something I would make at home 🤣
I love this bagels!! But, twice already early in in the morning, on my way to work, while the store is open, I've been told that the bagels are not ready yet. I'm sorry, but if you open your door, and your name is Bagel World, you should have that awesome bagel ready for me. Dropping the ball, we are.
Bagel world is close. That seems to be the largest selling point for the locals, who may not get the best version of their morning meals or even get melted cheese on their sandwiches. Wait staff is trying their best, and people in these reviews need to have some more patience and empathy for the folks working behind the counter. But it’s obvious the shop is trying to have quantity over quality in their menu. The drinks? Fabulous, and the major selling point here at a decent price. The food? Hypnotically disappointing. I seem to return to once a week to try something with the knowledge its pesto is lackluster and their portions of cream cheese spreads are so large they over power any semblance of the bread it’s spread on. If you moved here from Minnesota you’re gonna love the place and the Instagram ready rainbow bagel— if you’re a local, dude, why?
Good bagels but flavorless cream cheese. Their cream cheeses used to be delicious but in the last year or so they’ve become very bland—almost like they’re “watered down”. The staff are always very nice and quick!
After a few visits, I've noticed some recurring issues. My friend’s order specifically asked for no tomato, but there was still tomato on the bagel. The amount of lox on the Lox Deluxe is also all over the place—sometimes it feels like barely any at all. The inconsistency has made for a few underwhelming breakfasts in a row.
Wish they would put up a clear “order here” sign, it’s pure chaos with some people just waiting up front near cash register. The healthy lox is decent but definitely not outstanding, and the Hungry Man is great. Service was good, even during a rush. The fresh squeezed orange juice is pretty average nothing too special about it.
This could be a really nice spot but there are some things they need to change. Today they sent me home with a very burnt bagel that has hardly any cream cheese on it. Every time I get a drink here it is scalding hot. Even with the paper sleeve on the cup it still burns my hands holding the cup and I am unable to drink it for ten to fifteen minutes. The chai tea lattes taste like hot milk. There is very little flavor added. I don’t hate this place but I don’t love it either. I would give it two and a half stars.
Nice staff but the bagels are not good, classic NYC bagels. Hard, flat bottom, doughy, stale. Cream cheese is somehow basic too. Disappointed
ALLERGY WARNING - I love their bagels but I will never again order tofu cream cheese for my son. I literally saw them take the spoon out of the regular cream cheese to scoop out tofu cream cheese and when I yelled at them that this would make my son sick, they only groaned and kept the spoon in there and used a different knife to scoop it for him. I guess I should have known better.
This morning I bought a bacon, egg and cheese on bagel sandwich, a 16oz cappuccino, and a small orange juice. The total came up to $21. The orange juice tasted spoiled and I couldn’t drink more than a few sips. I clicked “send receipt to email” on the iPad after I paid, because I was stunned by the price but didn’t want to hold up the line of morning customers. I still haven’t received the receipt, but I’m still wondering how three items cost $21. The sandwhich was good but I think it will be my first and my last at Bagel World.
Food is good. Attitude, not so much. Not expecting to be treated like an emperor, is the least of my worries. But not filling my beverage, up to at least close to the top, where it's almost barely filled halfway, and then attempting to charge me twice for it, is unacceptable. Glad I asked for a receipt.
Went there for the first time today and was really excited to check it out. I got two bagels - plain with funfetti cream cheese, and an egg with butter. The plain bagel itself was very good, but the funfetti cream cheese was unbearable. It tasted nothing like funfetti, and it was easily the sweetest thing I've ever eaten. Never again. The egg bagel itself was nowhere near fresh, and where there was globs of cream cheese on the first bagel, there was almost no butter on the egg bagel. To be honest, the pastries and muffins and things they had on display looked excellent, but I won't be back for a bagel and wouldn't recommend anyone else get one there either.
Really nice staff but these bagels are awful. Hard, overbaked, taste a week old when made fresh, flat on the bottom with no toppings, texture inside is a bummer, tough and grainy. I blame the neighborhood; Bagel standards in the city are plummeting. 4.4 stars??? I’m relying on this local spot to be better!
I came in for a grilled cheese a few weeks ago, ordered and waited about 15 minutes while several white people came in after me and ordered things which should take longer to make, but yet they got their orders before me. I brush it off, but then yesterday i waited 15 minutes for some canned chicken soup while white people ordering after me got their orders much quicker. Life long black fort Green resident but i will just take my money down to myrtle ave from now on.
Too expensive for cream cheese bagels that barely have any cream cheese. Plus they burnt the toasted bagels - couldn't even taste the everything seasoning as they were so burnt. I never write bad reviews but this wasn't good
Charging $3.50 extra for scallion cream cheese without any mention anywhere is criminal. What a ripoff.
Bagels were very toasted and small. Not worth the $5.65 price tag. Also staff was pretty dismissive.
Wished so bad it was good. It was the worst pumperknickel bagel I’ve had in my life. Tasted like a wheat bagel. there shouldn’t be sesame on pumperknickel!! Also they toasted it way too much and I could taste the char, not something you want on bagels.
Just got a couple of bagels from here - grew up walking by their location on court but never really patronized it as there were many closer to the house I grew up in. I am surprised by the poor quality of the bagels! This place has been around for so long and has a reasonably loyal customer base (just based on the lines that often form in the mornings) that I expected a decent bagel. Instead, I have a dense, cushioned loaf of bread shaped into a bagel. No crisp exterior, no air pockets, no incredible bagel flavor to redeem the experience. Just a muffin-like texture, which is not a great combo with scallion cream cheese and lox. Will definitely give this place another try, hoping that it’s a bad day for them, but for now: two stars and a warning for anyone looking for a superb experience to approach with caution.
I ordered a quarter pound of cream cheese only to add to an order because they had a min delivery. That is on top of the delivery fee that they charge which I had found out about only by accident. Not because they ever mentioned" hey just to let you know we charge an additional fee on deliveries"..... To add to that when the order came it was missing from the order. When I called them to tell them this after the investigation of the century they said they would redeliver. I just told them the next time I order just pls include with the order. A few days later called up to place an order reminded them and they said ok. Well......when the order was delivered it again was missing the cream cheese. I called up to tell them and the girl on the phone not only didn't believe me, but in not so many words said I was making it up with her NO NO NO NO your not going to do that?! They were not going to deliver it and not only one thing. Seriously!!! Like I'm going to make this up? I have 10 thousand better things to do with my time and really way better things that could be made up. Well, its safe to say I will never order again because I paid for something that I never received and quite frankly don't need to told in not so many words that I'm lying about $3 or $4 worth of cream cheese. I was ordering for the office here about $30 or so every other day...so really they lost a good customer. Cream cheese can be bought for way less in so many other bagel places in the area.
Bagels are very doughy and undercooked. The have the mesh tray circles on the bottom of the bagel which is usually a bad sign. Disappointed since reviews were high and lines were long.
Every time I order from this place they make it's never correct. They write the order down and still can't get it right. I walk in and very clearly order what I want (and the order is not difficult) and by the time I walk back to my Apartment and open up the order and realize it's wrong, I don't have the patience to walk back to change it. The last time they made a mistake I called them. They promised to make me a new order and to deliver it within 10 minutes. I waited almost 30 minutes and nothing came. I called and spoke to someone and they acted as if they didn't know what I was talking about and then had no care about making it right with me. WILL NEVER GO THERE AGAIN!!
The workers here don’t know how to follow simple instructions. The wait for a bagel is ridiculously long for absolutely no reason. They have preferred customers who they rush orders for. I asked for a lightly toasted bagel and they burnt it. The bacon tasted like burnt dried pork skins. The eggs where over cooked and burnt as well. Super oily sandwich 🤮
Very bad experience! I bought in Grap and they charged me twice. I went back to talk to the manager to ask why they charged me twice. They didn't give me a logical answer. Only one of the women very rudely told me to wait for the owner and talk to him or she would call me on the phone. To this day I'm still waiting for that phone call! It's sad to know that they charge you for something you didn't buy!!!!! Adiós Amigos
DO NOT GO HERE MY FRIEND AND I HAD MOLD IN OUR BAGELS. We both got different bagels she got a sesame bagel while I got a whole wheat everything bagel and after having a few bites we noticed mold. I thought most bagel shops threw out bagels at the end of the day… guess bagel world doesn’t do that :(
Do NOT waste your time or money here. The place is freezing, with the front door wide open and back door where you're suppose to eat wide open as well.Smoke was coming out my mouth that's how cold it is.I asked for eggs over medium and got over easy then when I told the female who took the order about the mistake, she sent someone else to take the order but gave me an attitude.I said to stay and they brown bagged the food.No utensils given and at that point I was done.Had to go inside to get utensils and salt pepper. They are nasty and rude with "certain" people.Stay away!
Consistently over toasted, flavorless, sad example of what a NY bagel ought to be. Everyone's nice, no qualms there, but the bagels are unredeamable.
