Opinions de Bar Americano Brooklyn
i’m just leaving this review to say thank god you took down the faux flowers and greenery. it looks SO much better without and less bugs - please don’t bring it back
This was my favorite dinner in some time! Our server was cheeky and friendly; he made the night. But the food was also exquisite — we particularly enjoyed the tomato bread, anchovies, unique Caesar, burrata and of course the iconic whole artichoke! The Negronis were flawless. This place truly evokes warmth; I am still cozy thinking about it. Will be back!
Went here for dinner on a Saturday night and loved the vibe. The food is delicious and the Americano Bianco is the most refreshing cocktail! Definitely order the burger and the chocolate mousse when you're here. Will 100% be back!
New food program slaps! Staff is great. Great date spot. Great drinks. Great location.
The food is so good. And cool drink menu too!! Great small intimate spot Must get mussels escabeche, anchovies w sourdough, burger and chicken sandwiches also delicious, ricotta focaccia
Very tasty cocktails in a cozy space
Amazing selection of vermouth, very friendly service
they make proper drinks. the food is good. the energy here is good, and there are good interesting people who are their patrons. also the bartender anthony is a bartender emeritus.
Would definitely return. Food was incredible, but felt the order of the food coming out could have been better, as a small plate came out last after the chicken sandwich. Service was attentive and the staff was very friendly. Will recommend
Wonderful cocktails, delicious food, don’t come here so I can keep getting a reservation myself. Staff are top notch. Music is on point.
One of my favorite new bars in Greenpoint. You can't go wrong with any of their cocktails. Killian behind the bar is super welcoming and makes a mean drink!
ANestled in the bosom of Brooklyn’s Greenpoint, a veritable oasis of panache known as Bar Americano beckons the bevy of city sophisticates. This once desolate quarter now thrums with the vibrant pulse of renewal, its phoenix wings unfurling to reveal a locale replete with West Village finesse. One saunters into Bar Americano, where the decor is a symphony of chic sophistication, an elegiac nod to the decadent haunts frequented by the avant-garde elite. The libations? A cornucopia of concoctions, each sip a poetic elixir, dancing upon the palate like a prima ballerina. Here, the bon vivants congregate, a tableau vivant of modern allure and vintage charm. Bar Americano, a beacon of haute culture in the heart of Brooklyn's new renaissance, invites not just a visit, but an experience—an ambrosial adventure where the spirits are as spirited as the patrons who adore them.
One of the best bars around. The staff and owners are warm, inviting and educators on the type of bar and drinks they serve. Highly recommend this place if looking for a great time.
New trendy Greenpoint hang. Tried the croquette and chicken sandwich - both very good (food menu is not low prices). Fun bartenders. Intimate, dark vibe.
Great addition to the neighborhood. Good vibe and even better food. Had the pan con tomate, ceviche, mussels, and the cheese plate. Don’t let the scaffolding scare you away; it’s worth the stop.
Amazing place and outstanding service. A don’t miss place on Brooklyn. Don’t miss it. Great aperitivos and hang out place for both locals and tourist. Killian the owner is an amazing host! Don’t miss it!
This is my local spot to go in the neighborhood, great ambiance, chic deco, great service, and the best cocktail menu!
Amazing cocktails & talented bartenders, loved the pina colada & martinis, chill spot, 4 of us sat at the bar
It was amazing!! Great drinks and awesome appetizers . Killian and their staff were delightful!!!
Had their house made vermouth- it was great! Cool vibes. Did not try any food.
You honestly cannot beat this place for cute summer drinks and a stellar menu.
Amazing cocktails and a great, stylish atmosphere! Can’t recommend it enough. The bartender was super nice and seemed knowledgeable. We don’t live nearby, but we would definitely love to come back to this place.
Delicious, delicious vermouth and great oyster deal! Come for the happy hour, leave happy
Anthony the bartender was the best, made my night. He was friendly and easy to interact with. Gave great recommendations. And of course a great at his craft.
A total vibe. One of my absolute fave quintessential nyc bars Food is gorgeous Cocktails are outrageous 10/10!
Bar Americano is a 5-star Greenpoint gem! Warm vibes, friendly staff, and cocktails that wow. Their House Martini is perfection in a glass. The Tom Collins is summer in a sip! Food hits the spot too: shareable plates, fresh flavors. A must-try for any cocktail lover or cozy evening seeker!
one of the best burgers my boyfriend and i had ever had. caesar salad was also very good. could pass on the focaccia though - portions were too small, still yummy but nothing extraordinary
Went for dinner with a friend on a Thursday evening. The service and food were exceptional. The burrata and the chicken sandwich were both standouts, while the smoked ice cream made me feel like I was standing around the campfire. The mezcal gimlet was a perfect accompaniment while the Manhattan and margaritas were expertly executed. William and Conor were charming and efficient. I look forward to returning.
This review is just for the drinks and I have to say they’re awesome. Service is great and the vibe in the place is fantastic. I didn’t have food but it looked great. You definitely wanna get a reservation and it’s good for medium groups. It’s crowded but not too loud so you can chat and enjoy your time here. Finally a picture of a dog here :) <3
Excellent apperitivo/ la hora de vermut menu, great selection of vermouth and small plates menu. Loved the service which was attentive and engaging. Recommend to anyone who likes Spanish style food and drink and bitter cocktails and small plates.
Amazing food, cocktails, and atmosphere. Even though it was busy they sat us fast without a reservation and the service was fantastic and quick. One of those places where every bite or sip you say “omg this is the best [x] I’ve ever had!”. Get the house vermouth with orange foam!
All around adore this bar! The food is great and the drinks are even better. The staff is helpful and friendly which makes it even more accommodating and brilliant. It can be very crowded on weekend evenings!
Love this new neighborhood spot! Romantic ambiance and the fried chicken sandwich was amazing. My server Steven was the best and recommended the chocolate mousse to end the meal (which was also to die for).
We had a great experience. We had walked by during the day and eyed their amazing wall of vermouths and amaro so decided to try for a walk-in that evening. The cocktails are delicious (most unique martini!! Must try), the vermouths and amaros are amazing, the burger is decadent and juicy, and the service was really stellar. Do yourself a favour and try their house vermouth (or amaro- can’t quite remember now) with the home made orange foam on top. It’s 🤩! We can’t wait to come here again.
I have come here twice recently. I have to say I am not normally a big cocktails person, and would never have thought of ordering an appletini in a million years. But after trying someone else's, I got my own bc it was so fresh and crisp, not sweet! Dark, hip vibe with nice waitstaff and the tomato bread and "fried" almonds were perfect little nosher bites pre dinner.
I came here with a plus one on a Saturday evening, no reservation, with the expectation that I wouldn't be able snag a seat. Right away the owner greeted us and made it his priority to make something work even though the restaurant was completely full (bar and seating). He took the time to introduce his wait staff, bartenders and tell us the backstory in creating Bar Americano. The entire staff was extremely friendly, approachable and it was clear that they genuinely care about this place and their patrons. Overall, the vibes were great, the crowd was mature, the music was better and the interiors transport you to 1930's old America. The drinks and food speak for themselves - although on the smaller side. Somehow, Bar Americano, even at less than a week old, has managed to generate massive talk in a town that is already over saturated with bars, simply because how unique it is. It's easy to see how this is going to be the go to spot to keep warm all winter. Best of luck to B.A. - we will be back.
EXCELLENT SPOT. I could give this 10 stars if possible. The olives, the tomato bread, and croquettes were fantastic. Give the appletini a shot. They had an incredible short rib special. But the true star of the night was the buttermilk chicken sandwich. To. Die. For. Do not miss out on this sandwich. Chocolate mousse to end the night. Chef's kisses all around.
I love bar americano. I kind of want to gatekeep because it would really suck not to be able to grab a table or a seat at the bar as a walk in on off hours. the cocktails (and glassware) are some of my favorite in bk - and the city tbh. aperitif style cocktails are well balanced. snacks (marcona almonds, olives, oysters) match the vibe. I wish more cocktail bars were like this.
Fantastic cocktails, ambience and staff. Perfect place to pop in for a drink with friends or for a cozy date night. Can’t wait to come back and try the food. We walked in with no reservation and the host graciously found is a spot near the bar, but I would recommend a reservation during prime time.
Immediately bookmarked this as a favourite spot after checking out. The drinks were very good and the spot is lovely, not too busy, kid friendly, wonderful staff. No complaints. We will be back. For summer - recommend the elderflower and melon spritz. The orange juice is also very good.
Freddy and Lucio were amazing. They made sure we had the best time, the service was unparalleled. Freddy recommended us some drinks which were out of this world! Make sure to ask him for recs to ensure the best meals and drinks.
Getting a group of 6 together in this city is a nightmare but they made it so easy. Separate checks were no problem, they didn't rush us at all and we could actually hear each other talk. This is the spot for group hangs period.
This is my neighborhood spot and I almost don't want to tell people about it. It has a great buzz but it's not overrun like everything else in Greenpoint. The staff knows my drink now this is my sanctuary.
Ok the aperitivo hour is nuts. $12 for oysters and $14 spritz in this economy??? that's an insane deal for New York. I'm here every week now, no joke.
Finally a place for a late night drink that isn't a chaotic mess. It's calm and they still make a perfect cocktail even at midnight. A real grown up spot.
Took a girl here on a first date and the vibe’s did all the work for me. Dim lights, good music, good food... she was impressed, I got them rizz as well lol.
The bartender, on a Friday night, made me feel so seen and appreciated :) this is a great date night spot, solo drink spot, random night out spot. Great music, great hostess, great bartender :) very thrilled to have stumbled on this gem. For a solo individual , this place made me feel equally seen as a party of 2 :) thank you!!!
It’s cute here, and the servers are nice. However I wouldn’t go out of my way to come here. This is a good neighborhood spot for a quick drink before dinner. The best cocktails we tried are Americano, Vermouth, and Appletini. The vibe is very chill, almost quiet so I’d definitely turn up somewhere else after the first cocktail 😂
Look, there are a million bars in New York. But few of them have a soul. You can feel the intention behind everything at Bar Americano from the weight of the glassware to the garnish on the drink to the playlist. They care about the little things that make up the whole experience. It's the kind of place you bring an out of town friend to show them what a real Brooklyn bar feels like. Easily one of the best no question, I kinda became like the michelin guys reviewing these XD.
Most magical place in Greenpoint. Great food, super well curated menu with interesting items. I love the swordfish Milanese, the burger, ricotta and croquettes. The staff is also extremely friendly. It’s the same people since they opened and they have a caring approach to their service.
My boyfriend and I were in a date night rut just going to the same loud crowded places. Bar Americano completely saved us, the second you walk in the mood is just... better. The lighting is warm and romantic the seats are comfortable, not just those tiny stools. We shared the tortilla and a few cocktails and it felt like a special occasion even on a random Tuesday. The service was so graceful they just let us be. It’s a rare find in this city a truly romantic spot!!!
The drinks are next level—thoughtful, balanced, and just plain delicious. The food? Equally amazing. But what really makes this spot stand out is the staff. They’re not only warm and welcoming, they’re also ridiculously good-looking (just saying). It’s also one of the most dog-friendly spots I’ve been to. They’re genuinely excited to see your pup and make you feel right at home. The whole place has this effortless charm—it’s a go-to first date destination, but also the kind of spot regulars return to week after week. I can’t say enough good things about the hospitality, the atmosphere, and the overall experience.
Tried this place for a friends meet-up on a Monday. Simply superb! We were three at the bar. Top-notch cocktails and snacks and the hospitality was wonderful, so we ended up ordering dinner. Everything was great! This one’s a keeper!!!
What an amazing spot! The absolute kindest and sweetest hostess, Penelope, made us feel so welcomed and comfortable. She recommended some great bites like the unforgettably creamy mushroom pasta dish, and the amazing house vermouth I’ll be raving about. Ryan was also a very kind and timely waiter, just adding to the perfect Sunday afternoon. Thank you for a great time in a lovely atmosphere, can’t wait to come back!
This place was popping on a Friday night. The vibes were so nice, people hanging around the bar, the decor was beautiful. The staff were so nice too and made the experience here incredible. Thank you Ethan for being so gracious! The food and drinks were incredible. The Melon & Elderflower Spritz is SO good if you like a sweet drink. We got the oysters, the mussels escabeche, and hamachi crudo to start- ALL INCREDIBLE. The hamachi was nicely salty, the mussels had an incredible sauce that my boyfriend chased with some mezcal, and oysters will always be amazing. The burger was good! I wish there was much flavors to it but I definitely still swallowed it down. Great neighborhood spot!
Just exceptional. In a city of amazing bars, some of the best in the world, we can’t think of one we’ve enjoyed more. Explore every cocktail on the menu. They’re delicious, and also perfectly prepared and all photo worthy. But don’t miss the best part: the vermouths. The best selection of vermouths that we know of in America. Many of them have everything an excellent cocktail has to offer right in themselves with a little ice. And if you have the good luck to have Diego manning the bar, just ask him what you should have. A marvelous experience not to be missed. 15 minutes from midtown Manhattan.
What an amazing place to sit, dine on a little something while sipping a good drink. The drinks were SPOT on. The chicken sandwich was crispy and had the most unique seasonings. The charcuterie board was my favorite. Every item on there was great. Yea I know, charcuterie boards can be simple but this one didn’t disappoint. I sat next to a couple who were on their first date and I applaud them for choosing this spot. It’s very first date friendly. Everything is candle lit, servers were super polite and attentive and just the ambience was very calm and elegant. Love it!
Some of the best drinks in the city mixed with delicious food. If you are looking to fill that amaro-forward bitter cocktail crave, this is your place. The cocktails are expertly crafted with care towards the floral and delicate flavors. Don’t scoff at either the Appletini or the Espresso Martini, they will best any iteration you have had anywhere else. Lastly…though it’s not on the menu…ask for a Vesper; you won’t be disappointed.
This is a new bar/ restaurant in Bellmore. We were here on Wednesday night for dinner. Our server CiCi was great and very personable. We ordered the fried calamari with a side of Chipotle sauce as an appetizer. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the Heritage Burger and my husband ordered the Pappardelle Bolognese. Everything was delicious. We are back again on Saturday for the Espresso martinis made perfectly by Maggie & Martino the bartenders & another order of that amazing calamari. This will definitely be our new spot for dinner& drinks!
Incredible night in Brooklyn as a result of stumbling upon this bar. Gorgeous space, beautiful and tasty drinks, wonderfully engaging and fun bartender (Diego was his name I believe). Highly recommend! Haven’t been impressed by a bar in a long time. We had already eaten but the food looked amazing too.
Bar Americano in Brooklyn is, without a doubt, my absolute favorite bar. The service provided is nothing short of exceptional, and the drinks they serve are truly exquisite, personal favorite is the House Vermouth. Not to mention, their delectable food and appetizing bar snacks perfectly complement the overall experience. A visit to Bar Americano is an absolute must and guarantees a delightful time.
Unique takes on some classic cocktails! We stopped by on a chilly Monday and these drinks were the perfect remedy for the cold. The bar is notably expert in all things Vermouth, even having a Vermouth List if you fancy sampling some of those. Classic cocktails like Martinis, Manhattans, and Negronis come with a twist - as well as the speciality vermouths, fresh apples were used in the Appletini making it very fresh and tasty. The "Perfect Manhattan" was my star of the evening - an absolute must try! The décor is cool and the lighting is perfect for the darker more dreary season. Our servers were super attentive and friendly; happy to answer questions about the drinks and the bar. We will be back again to try out more cocktails and sample the food too!
Cool spot, great drinks. Would be 5 stars if in the sun
Service 9/10 they were very busy and seemed a little bit under staffed but handled it super well for opening week. The hostess was very sweet and accommodating. Food 10/10. Delicious!! However, they are small portions. Drinks 10/10 Will definitely be back & excited to see what they’ll be adding to the menu. All the best for the new restaurant owners!
The food here might be even better than the drinks. I’ve been here a few times and never had a special I don’t like. The only thing that keeps my review from being 5 stars for me is the acoustics! It’s really hard to have a convo in here, even when it’s not very crowded. Owners: If you’re reading this - please consider getting a few cheap acoustic panels! I think they would make a huge difference.
Such a good vibe and the food is amazing. Might've been the best burger I've ever had!! My only critique is the size of the drinks. The portion is too small for what you're charging. Please go back to normal glasses!!! x
Great spot to grab drinks and people watch. I have yet to try the food but the cocktails always hit and the outdoor seating is perfect. We’ve tried to sit inside multiple times but it’s SO LOUD. Only sit inside if you don’t plan on hearing what your date has to say.
Not sure about the food here - we came for post dinner drinks and they were nice enough to get us a spot on their outside. It was a nice cool summer night and being outside in the energy of Greenpoint was lovely. The service was attentive and constantly willing to make suggestions. The dirty martini was okay - nothing special. I eventually moved on to their Pink Guava & Sage Sour which was refreshing and good enough to have a few.
A cocktail-forward spot, but the food keeps pace. Caught in that limbo between lunch and dinner I stopped in for a quick bite and drink. Positive vibes all around and a sense that everyone was exactly where they wanted to be. They have an extensive drink menu with both alcoholic and nonalcoholic options. The mezcal gimlet was smoky yet slightly sweet with cucumber adding a fresh lift. The jasmine and cucumber fizz was light and floral. For food, I kept things on the lighter side with the hamachi crudo and caesar salad. The crudo impressed—it was surprisingly delicate and finished with a touch of smoked salt. The caesar was classic crisp romaine, just enough dressing to coat without drowning, with crunch scattered on top. The place itself is versatile—date night, post-work drinks, catching up with an old friend, it fits the mood. Next time, I’ll arrive hungry with no dinner plans in sight.
Many of the drinks are overly sweet and poorly made. Some nice ones. We tried 3 of them. Negroni served with an orange wedge - big time lol.
I don't love posting a 3 star review, but after a couple of visits, I'm just not that impressed. The food and drinks are good, the service is ok, the atmosphere at half the tables in the place is just kinda underwhelming, and not of it really feels like it's worth what they're charging. If you're not at the bar or one of the few prime tables up front, you're going to either feel like you got shoved in the back behind a divider wall that cuts you off from the rest of the place, or you were stuck in a hallway illuminated by the bright lights of the kitchen. The layout is just unfortunate. I wouldn't say no if a friend wanted to meet up here, but I also probably won't be back on my own accord.
Bar Americano has delicious food, but that place is run like a fast food chain. I recently went to dinner with a friend, and when we sat down they told us we had a time limit for our table. Fine. Mind you we did have a reservation. Then the server spilled my friend’s drink all over her. It would of been nice had she comped the drink. We ordered a bunch of food, and it was tasty, but our server wouldn’t leave us alone. She kept coming back asking if we were finished with plates that still had food on it, and she tried to take my unfinished drink at least 3 times. Finally she brought the check out before we were even done at least 30 minutes prior to the ‘time limit.’ Again all around great food, but not worth the price of feeling like I can’t sit and enjoy a relaxed dinner with my friend who I hadn’t seen in a while
First time here, and I’d recommend sticking to drinks—maybe a side of fries if you’re feeling snacky. The place is always busy so we were excited to try but left feeling overwhelmed and out of $130. The portion sizes compared to the menu prices are honestly laughable. We ordered the charcuterie and the plate had so much negative space I thought something was missing. Two thin slices of cheese and prosciutto, one small chunk of Chällerhocker, and no pears (despite being listed). For $32, I could make a better spread from Trader Joe’s. The stracciatella dish was also underwhelming—no flavor, and the peaches were bitter. The only thing that seemed safe to order were the fries, which every table had and were actually decent. Drinks were fine, but if you’re coming here to eat, I’d look elsewhere. Felt like a waste of money. And they could also turn up the AC a bit.
I came for a quiet dozen aphrodisiacs on the half shell and left with a bruised ego and a barstool existential crisis. I ordered six oysters. I got twelve. And while I usually applaud abundance, this felt more like a punishment. The oysters arrived looking less like delicacies and more like victims. Not completely dry, but definitely disrespected. Some had spilled their precious liquor in transit, others were mangled beyond recognition. Presentation matters, especially when you’re paying a premium for sea snacks. The cocktails? Divine. But the bartender’s eye rolls and brooding attitude made it hard to fully enjoy the moment. Great vibes, yes. But next time, I’ll be flirting with the staff at Achilles Heel or whispering sweet nothings to my martini at El Pingüino. A girl can only take so much attitude with her shellfish.
Everything is aesthetic here. The drinks are overpriced fruit juices and they don't have sodas or soft drinks, just non-alcoholic mocktails. The oysters weren't good, the burger was the only upside. Sat outside and don't know if inside is accessible or not, but outside is wheelchair accessible.
Genuinely so confused about this bar’s ratings. The cocktails are PRE-MIXED (including the namesake americano!!), and poured from a tap. 17$…. For what? We were so disappointed!
I expect to pay $17 for a cocktail but I do expect it to be freshly made. Only come here if you want a tiny and pre-batched Manhattan with low flavor
Good service, small portions and lacking in diversity for vegetarian palate. Not a true aperitivo spot. On the pricey side.
When it first opened it was a lovely spot with kind bartenders and lovely drinks. It has since turned into a mediocre bar with insanely expensive drinks, tiny food portions, rude staff, and an obnoxious hipster crowd. I deeply miss Brooklyn Label (the place Bar Americano replaced).
The bar floor manager could use some basic hospitality lessons. Avoid!
Check your check carefully! I had a total bill of about $100, paid 20% in tips and signed my bill for a total of ~$120. But I was surprised to see that my card had been charged… 170$. When I came back I asked what happened, the waiter told me that « there was a miscommunication and 4 additional drinks have mistakenly been charged… » weird no? After signing the bill? They refunded but looks like a scam… be careful.
Waiting for a seat and another two women who arrived after myself and my husband were given preferential treatment and seated first. So disappointing. No courtesy.
I read the reviews and was excited to go to Bar Americano. I stopped in with a couple of friends for a birthday cocktail before going to a nearby restaurant for dinner. To my surprise we were told we couldn’t get a drink unless we had a seat (even at the bar) and that it was at least an hour wait for a seat. I asked twice to clarify this bizarre policy but got the same answer. I have never experienced this in thirty years of going out. Incredibly strange and disappointing. We left and went to Moonlight Mile a block way. Amazing cocktails and you could actually order without having a seat.
Owner (or who perhaps is the owner) is basically useless. The person was was working as the greeter and organizer, but after he was too drunk to talk, referenced himself as the owner. He was incoherent, and just unprofessional. How am I, as your client at your bar, drinking 3-4 martinis, less drink than you. He was berating patrons to move for no reason, because he was too drunk to comprehend the situation. Embarrassing to witness as a fellow business owner. Food and atmosphere at the place is amazing. Owner (if he really was) is garbage.
I came with a group of 10-12 people. The waiter only said they only had seats for everyone but me and one friend who come from a minority background .. I was shocked but still decided to stay since there were so many of us .. then the rest of the group decided to leave and me and the same one friend wanted to have one more drink before heading out. We decided to kindly give it another chance and sit at the bar. The waiter tells us the last two bar seats are served and said we cannot be here. I was shocked because he looks like he also comes from a minority background so was very confused . and the other woman with the curly hair was also rude… never going back again.. this happened about an hour ago. Never been treated that way going to any restaurant and bar ..
