Opinions de Bar Birba Brooklyn
Amazing. Would give 10 stars if I could. Food delicious and I just went to Italy and did a food tour. Arancini stands out. And their wine selection is top notch. Servers are really knowledgeable about everything. Small place and newly opened and I expect them to be packed and reservation only very soon. Serving pizza in NYC is a bold move since literally there are so many places that do that well like Roberta’s and Union Pizza etc. But the prices here are very reasonable considering what they are at other places. Small menu of small plates. Unique offerings of appertifs and digestivs that I’d like to try next time. Could use more dessert options considering the digestiv selection. Please do a killer Tiramisu. Food felt very Tuscan or Sicily region. No pasta I don’t believe. Only thing I didn’t love was the Caponata. It was a lot of onion and pepper. I was expecting more eggplant chunks. The bread with it was amazing and my friend really loved it though so what do I know. I’m always a sucker for Lambrusco.
Great addition to the neighborhood! I had dinner here and everything was delicious and well priced. Wonderful atmosphere, Italian wine list, food, and very friendly service. The pizza Bianca and non-alcoholic Negroni were the highlights of my meal but everything we tried was tasty! Can’t wait to come back.
Truly an excellent spot. Very thoughtfully designed by the owner Matt (also the owner of For All Things Good across the street) and well-run by his team. I’ve been twice now have had most of the menu, all of which very much impressed me. My favorites are the crudo, mannaggia pizza and most of all the panino mortadella — man oh man. The wine is great too — pick anything orange or bubbly and you can’t go wrong. And don’t forget to end with the gelato (pictured here). All in all, Bar Birba is a must recommend for me.
Great addition to the area. Pizza is good, wine selection is pretty big.
Best pizza ever had best pizza in the neighborhood actually in New York best people, Matt and Bob and you should try it out Best experience very recommended
Loved the ambiance walking in. The wine was delicious as was the food. Will surely be coming back for that panino de Mortadella!

The food at Bar Bira was absolutely delicious! everything we ordered was packed with flavor. Service was great, friendly, attentive, and helpful without being pushy. I’m not a wine expert, but the staff did a great job guiding us to something we liked, which I appreciate it.
Fantastic food and lovely wine selection in a very cozy spot. One minor quibble-- the fluorescent overhead lighting from the kitchen interrupts the vibe at the back of the restaurant. Special shout-out on delivery too-- there was a mix up on the order and the graciously sent a new pizza and a delicious treat too. Highly recommended!
I'm lucky to share a neighborhood with this spot - my partner and I stopped by recently while celebrating our anniversary and had a wonderful evening. The prices for the plates and pizza we shared were very reasonable, and I was happy to see lots of good NA drink options. The pizza was perfectly chewy, and the prosciutto was beautifully fatty. There were lots of other seated tables, but the space never felt crowded or loud. This is a great place to catch up with a friend or have a nice long evening with a loved one
Great place for a date night or intimate evening hang. The wine selection is excellent, especially if you’re interested in natural wine. The staff take great care to explain things. Pizza is excellent. Soft and chewy. Some toppings are more unique than others but it’s nice to have variety, something different. Service is excellent! Ambience is relaxing and romantic.
Amazing experience, the owners are so welcoming and have a true sense of hospitality. Accommodated a group of 8 on a Tuesday night at closing time. They reopened the kitchen for us, and the food was so delicious. We were just hoping to get some quick food and we ended up staying a while and had a few drinks. They really made the difference. It was a 10/10 all the way. Thank you for the hospitality !
The chicken milanesa with a glass of lambrusco and a book is about as perfect a solo dining experience as you can find. One of my go-to after-work spots.
Always love this spot. Had my birthday dinner here for ~22 people and they were awesome start to finish. Super helpful picking out menu, drinks, etc. The staff and space are both amazing. All of the food is delicious and the drinks are fun. The boozy affogatos are out of this world. Everyone is still talking about how much fun they had and how good the pizza was. Can never go wrong with Bar Birba! Perfect date night spot as well.
A really nice, intimate spot for a glass/bottle of wine and some surprisingly killer pizza. The Don't Tell Nonna pie was awesomeee—like, I was not expecting it to be that good, but the sesame crust with the jalepeño + everything else was a great combo. We also had an all-veggie pizza that was really solid too, plus the gigantic beans appetizer which was complex but definitely worth the order. Staff was wonderful and attentive, atmosphere was welcoming and cozy, crowd was lively but not too loud. And the generous drink menu (wine and beer) had something for everyone. So glad I stopped in!

Stopped for dinner with a friend. Staff was on point. Negroni was delicious. However, I’ve never seen a more ridiculous entrée in my life. $25 for six pieces of thinly sliced steak on a side dish, nothing else. Very underwhelming. I got a Genovese to supplement, yeah, wouldn’t recommend. Also, I don’t know if the heat was broken, but I was in my coat and scarf the entire night. It’s a cute place for a cocktail, but I don’t know if it’s a dinner spot.

Good, not great. The special fritto misto was kind of a joke for $14 (only like 10 pieces of small zucchini and onion…) and the arancini was a bit cold in the middle and bland. Pepperoni pizza was ok but my gf said one bite tasted like soap or something.. vibe is interesting, kind of basic but nice. Staff were nice, and wine was good. Wanted this to be better… hopefully just growing pains. Good luck!

I ordered delivery so can’t vouch for the ambiance of the place itself. I got the arancini (which were good) and the don’t tell nonna bar pie (which was not). I don’t like to post negative reviews, but I have to say I’m shocked that a restaurant would send me a clearly burnt pizza. There was another review that mentioned this, but I thought it was an honest mistake or might be similar to Neapolitan pizza—it was not. This pizza was full stop burned and clearly overcooked in the crust and in the middle of the pizza itself making it hard and charred. The flavor in the non-burnt places seemed like it could be good, but the char and flavor of burnt food completely overpowered everything. I had to pick off those spots to taste anything else which was hard since it was a lot of the pizza. I’m very disappointed to say the least, since I was looking forward to trying this place and I should have not ordered from here.

I really wanted to like this place because it’s around the corner, and based on the other reviews maybe we just caught them on an off night. Atmosphere - dark, sparse and very cold. We wore our coats the whole time and my son added his hat and we were still freezing! The chicken prosciutto app was really not good - a mouthful of unrendered fat and a bone. And my pizza seemed like it had been reheated and was totally hard and black on the bottom. I got the margharita and half of one slice was very spicy - I don’t think this was on purpose, maybe they spilled something on it? My son’s pizza was not burned and he thought it was ok. My sparkling wine was partially flat. Staff was really nice and friendly but seemed confused (a second person came to take our order after we ordered, the first person came back to confirm our order…). We left after about 30 min and didn’t eat much. Hopefully just an off night / growing pains as we’d love to have this option in the neighborhood!

This is the worst pizza I have ever had in my life. They gave us burnt pizza and at home eating it because it’s too late to order anything else
