It was a lovely Valentine's Day dinner at Bricolage, we didn't have a reservation an were accommodated with a table by the door, behind a golden velvet curtain that brought the warmth of the sun onto this lovely immersive art installion of a dining room. We started our meal with the fresh summer roll with peanut sauce and the warm delectable Tamarind BBQ Ribs the sauce was so tasty my sister said it would be good on anything. The pickled vegtable garnish enhanced the succulent pork offering. Next up was a generous bowl of Spicy Garlic Noodles with pork which was seasoned to perfection. We finished our meal with two desserts that had us closing our eyes with a Snoopy smile on our faces. The Bourbon Infused Choclate Cake (gf) and the Carmelized Brioche. This was our second visit to Bricolage and we will definately be back. We set a goal of trying everything on the menu. Bricolage is well worth the trip to Park Slope.
Great place and would highly recommend! A quite detailed and developed menu with great food & drinks. Amazing energy and great staff/owners who can accommodate groups of all sizes as well!
Wow. Just wow. Words won’t do it justice, yet I must try. The vibes? Perfect. The food? Delish. The atmosphere? Electric. Would recommend to anyone who will listen. And as someone with a lot of allergies they were very accommodating and quickly helped me identify which dishes I could eat. Can’t wait to go back!
Such a cool space and their drinks are amazing! Note the Tamarind Seafood Bouillabaisse is very filling so if you are getting appetizers, I recommend sharing the Bouillabaisse. Amazing.
I had a great experience dining here! The food tasted amazing, and the portions were very filling. As someone who is gluten free and has other dietary restrictions, I was impressed by how many gluten free options were available. The staff was very attentive and made sure everything was safe for me to eat, which I really appreciated. Highly recommend!
I recently celebrated my 30th birthday here, and it could not have been more perfect. Miro was super accommodating with catering to my needs and Tyler, who a been at the restaurant for years and the brains to the cocktail menu, were so great to work with. the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel welcomed and taken care of, creating such a warm and celebratory atmosphere, the back patio, everyone was raving about, and the food was absolutely outstanding — every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The testy catered to all dietary restrictions. Truly my guests couldn’t stop raving about how much they loved everything, which made the evening feel even more special. Thank you to the team for helping make such an important milestone truly memorable. I’ll be recommending this spot to anyone looking for amazing food and a place to celebrate something special!
I was in the mood to try something different and wandered into Bricolage. While browsing the menu, Marc—the friendly bartender—helped me decide on the Szechuan-crusted cobia fish filet. It was perfectly cooked, flavorful, and beautifully balanced with just the right amount of spice. To pair, I ordered a Maple Old Fashioned, which was smooth, refreshing, and complemented the meal perfectly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service made me feel right at home. If you’re looking for a unique dining experience with thoughtful dishes and great drinks, Bricolage is definitely worth a visit right there in parkslope
I’ve been coming here since 2022. It is a very unique place in its atmosphere and twist on the Vietnamese cuisine. They have consistently been welcoming from the host to the servers. The food has consistently been great. The atmosphere is unique with options to eat inside or outside; GO OUTSIDE! The decor has an old skool vibe with such a laid back ambience. I love all the foods here. Try it all to see what you like. I love the slow cooked lamb rolls and the caramelized shrimp pot. The ingredients are always fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend this place; you won’t be disappointed! Make a reservation!!!!
Went twice, for dinner and lunch. Both times I really enjoyed the food, especially the imperial rolls (first time in years that I found "real" crispy ones, like the ones I was used to in France) and the caramelized brioche. The decor is super cosy and cute, as if you were stepping into another world. In short, this place makes you want to invite a table of 10 friends and just enjoy the good food and great vibes.
First the server took us to the semi open section behind the restaurant but sadly there were a few flies otherwise we would have loved to have our food there. We then moved inside. The whole place is decorated in a somewhat unique style. Almost everything is an art creation which is why no two decorations are similar including the chandeliers. The side plates on the table are also different with all four on a table having different designs and sometimes even different sizes. We ordered one duck sandwich, two egg preparations and one French toast dish cooked in coconut milk. All four of us shared everything except one person who doesn't have meat. We all enjoyed all the 4 dishes. It was a somewhat different symphony of tastes. Something different from whatever I have had in the past. I cannot say it was similar to the best I have had earlier but it was as great as anything I have had earlier but different. Maybe if I have brunch again in another Vietnamese restaurant I will be able to compare but for now I will end by saying that I enjoyed everything and wouldn't mind visiting again maybe to try out their regular lunch selection.
I had my birthday dinner for 9 people at Bricolage yesterday and it was absolutely fabulous! Miro was so patient and accommodating working with me on the prefix menu that was so delicious!! Definitely get the duck and Tamarid ribs! Though every dish will have you drooling and that goes for drinks as well!!!
Laura & team really have the whole “hospitality” thing down. From start to finish, our service was fantastic and the meal was delicious in every way! The garlic noodles with the steak were so amazing. The steak was cooked to perfection and the noodles had such amazing flavor. The noodles normally come spicy but we opted to put the “spice” on the side and they were supper accommodating. We also got the veggie pancake which is amazing EVERY SINGLE TIME. So so so good. All of the flavors at Bricolage are fresh and really wow the taste buds. We will be back :)
Great ambiance. The food came in a timely fashion, and everything was good. Special mention to the Maple Glazed Duck Breast and the Lemongrass Grilled Pork Chop. Oh, also, the Matcha Painkiller was a great drink. The portion sizes are good to share. For a party of five, we ordered two appetizers and four main courses and ended up pretty satisfied, without room for dessert.
Overall rating: 4.9 I absolutely, absolutely love this place 😍😍 It’s been on my “want to try” list for awhile purely just because of the backyard. And it was totally worth it. I didn’t realize they were Vietnamese-French & I’m actually usually not a huge fan of fusion - but this food, so so good. I lovee their twist on the bao buns, I will come back just for them. I had the lamb shank which def could have been shared by two people vs just me. I was full halfway through. My friend had the duck which was also very good! Wish I had ordered something lighter. I was too full to get dessert. First world problems 😅 Will definitely be going back to try other dishes. The cocktails were also very good & the service was so nice! Highly recommend.
What a fun spot! We saw the chef/owner of Bricolage on an episode of Beat Bobby Flay and decided to check it out. We got a main and three apps, and we could totally do that again with all different dishes and be super happy. Surprise of the night was the carrot soup (served cold) that was so delicious with the croutons and shallots and cream. We then got the soft shell crab which was yummy, and the eggplant purée on the side was even better (even though the color is not the most appetizing!!). We also got the red snapper as our main, and I would recommend only getting one fried dish as they tasted similar enough that you didn’t need both. The pork buns had thick cuts of pork belly, and made me want to try the lamb buns next time. I got the cocktail Gigi’s Brother and highly recommend it. I also tried the Vietnamese Gin & Tonic but didn’t care for it at all; I really appreciated the waiter swapping it out for another Gigi’s Brother. SO NICE!! The patio is, as everyone says, adorable and so eclectic with the little TVs and plants everywhere. It is definitely a gem and we will be back soon to try more items!
I wish we had tried this place sooner! What a fun place, in Park Slope. Good atmosphere and had brunch in their outdoor backyard that also has coverage, if it's too sunny, or rains. Good size patio to hold people, but not feel crowded. A very cute and eclectic setup. The food is so good we've gone back a few times already the past month, for brunch. I've read reviews of others here and I don't understand the ones with issues. Portion sizes leave you very full and the dishes we chose have a lot of flavor. Start off with iced Vietnamese coffee and Bloody Marys, we had their "Unshaking Beef & Eggs", "Open Faced Mushroom omelette", "Five Spiced chicken & Waffles" (which were crispy and juicy!), delicious side of brussel sprouts and other dishes. Oh, we also got their "Spicy Garlic Noodles with Steak" and boy they are serious when they say spicy. If you're not sure if you can handle it, you can ask for the spice on the side to add to your own content. Yes, it may not be the cheapest food, but for the price you expect quality and good ingredients and that's what you get. Go try it! We'll be back ourselves to try more dishes.
Beautiful place, with many many details that make for a really cozy and nice experience. The service was excellent. I won’t rate it 5 stars cause the appetizers were a bit disappointing. The chicken wings I would not order again, there are better ones out there. The duck, though, was so good! And the molten chocolate cake too. Will definitely be coming back cause the menu looked great!
Really liked the vibe of this place, but sadly the food did not back it up. I had the Pho, which was basically a texan BBQ Pho which was interesting. However, they served the soup luke warm (supposed to be very hot) and because of that, the raw meat they placed in it could not cook. They needed to give me a side bowl of hot broth to properly cook the meat. The soup itself was okay tasting, but I think regular Pho is a lot better.
I’ve been here several times and never left satisfied. I decided to give it another try. The food and service weren’t great. We ordered mushroom wontons and charred eggplant salad as appetizers. Both were good, but not worth the price. We also ordered the banh xeo chay and spicy garlic noodles with lemongrass tofu. The waiter didn’t seem to know that chay means vegetarian (I’d give him a pass, but that was the name of the dish on the menu) and gave us the meat version. He came back to apologize, but made it seem like we should have said “vegetarian,” but he’s the one that works at a Vietnamese restaurant so maybe he should learn some words or at least know menu items. No bother though, they quickly remade it for us, but it was the worst banh xeo we’ve ever had. It was burnt, way too thick, and soggy. It was filled with portobellos and carrots, which completely destroyed the flavor. The spicy garlic noodles were good, but not $35 good. I will not be eating here again. I fully recognize that this is a review of the meatless options so maybe the meat dishes are better. However when the meat filled banh xeo came out by accident, it looked equally bad.
The only dish I really loved was the honey-glazed duck with taro purée — the crispy edges on the duck were fire. Everything else was kind of meh for the price. The longevity noodles were on the mushy side and felt heavy with the sauce. The biggest letdown was the charred pineapple sticky rice dessert. Not sure if it’s their version of it, but it was just kinda dry jasmine rice with barely charred pineapples. Couldn’t taste the lemongrass flavor either.
Bricolage – Vietnamese French Fusion in Park Slope Overall Rating: 3.5/5 Bricolage delivers a vibrant blend of Vietnamese-French flavors in a space that feels artistic, relaxed, and true to its name—bohemian and playfully eclectic. While the food is often exceptional and the atmosphere inviting, inconsistent service and lapses in cleanliness detracted from an otherwise memorable evening. Service: Carly, our server, was a true professional—knowledgeable, warm, and intuitive with her recommendations. She guided us through the menu with ease and made us feel genuinely cared for. Unfortunately, the rest of the service team was far less attentive. Two other servers (one male, one female) rushed to clear our table while we were still waiting for dessert. One of them removed plates but left used silverware directly on the table. Adding to the disappointment: the restaurant overlooked the birthday noted in our reservation, which felt careless and impersonal. Food: When Bricolage gets it right—and it often does—the flavors are bold, layered, and beautifully executed. • Crispy Imperial Rolls (Chả Giò): A standout. Stuffed with pork, shrimp, glass noodles, and wood ear mushrooms, these rolls came out piping hot with a golden, shatteringly crisp exterior. Wrapped in fresh lettuce and herbs (basil, mint) and dipped in a spicy fish sauce that I could’ve happily drunk straight from the bowl. • Tamarind BBQ Ribs: Served with pickled red onions and Thai basil olive oil. Cooked perfectly, tender and juicy, but oddly under-seasoned—they desperately needed salt to come alive. • Coconut Green Curry Lamb Shank: Braised to fall-off-the-bone tenderness, served with sautéed Chinese broccoli, crispy shallots, peanuts, and jasmine rice. The curry was rich, earthy, and deeply comforting. Unfortunately, the rice was dry and stale—clearly made the day before and a noticeable miss. • Special of the Day – Szechuan-Spiced Boneless Half Duck: Easily one of the best duck dishes I’ve had in NYC. Perfectly pink, deboned, and served with a smooth taro mash, grilled endive, and a pineapple-ginger-garlic confit sauce that brought sweet heat and umami depth. Masterfully composed. • Five-Spice Mango Cheesecake: The cheesecake itself was lush, delicately spiced, and had a beautiful texture. The topping, however—a slice of hard, unripe mango—clashed with the rest. The ginger-blueberry sauce was applied so sparingly it was almost symbolic. A mango mousse and more of that sauce could turn this into something unforgettable. Cleanliness: This was where things took a hit. When we sat down, one of the sharing plates already on the table had caked-on food residue—something that should never be missed in a properly set table. Combined with the stale rice, it suggested a lapse in both front-of-house and kitchen standards. Ambience: The space is inviting, unpretentious, and artsy—a casual, bohemian mix of textures, plants, and thoughtful design details. It feels lived-in and expressive in the best way. The sound level was perfect: lively but never overwhelming, encouraging conversation and ease. Ratings Breakdown: • Food: 4/5 • Ambience: 5/5 • Cleanliness: 2/5 • Service (Carly): 5/5 • Service (other staff): 1/5 Conclusion: Despite missteps in cleanliness and some unpolished service, Bricolage is worth a return visit. The food, especially the duck, rolls, and curry, shows serious skill, and the creative, soulful vibe of the place is hard to resist. With a bit more consistency and attention to detail, it could become one of our favorite destinations in Park Slope.
I have been here for special occasions and had a great time. This time, however, was really off. We started by ordering the crab dumpling special, which was a miss. The wonton wrapper was thick and chewy (not in a satisfying way), and the crab filling looked and tasted like tuna salad and even had tiny bits of carrot and celery in it, like tuna salad. If it was indeed crab, it was very low quality. We were seated at one side of a communal table in the (chilly) covered patio, and while we were eating, a host started spraying the other side of the table with a large bottle of industrial cleaner, and set the spray bottle right next to us. It smelled awful and he completely ignored us. It’d be fine if we were eating at a cheap restaurant, but for a restaurant that considers itself upscale, it made for an unpleasant experience. Last bit—the patio has a doorway to a basement with cooks coming up with large translucent plastic bins of already-prepared food. It was unappetizing to see a giant bin of precooked chicken get rushed up the stairs past patrons. Anyway, I used to love this place and have recommended it many many times over the years to out-of-towners or friends looking to dine in Park Slope, but now will think twice about coming back. EDIT: after receiving the comment below from the restaurant, I emailed several times and never heard back.
