GREAT DRINKS I HAD A FROZEN COCONUT PINEAPPLE Margarita 🍹 !! LOVE THE SERVER DONT KNOW HER NAME BUT SHES A SCORPIO. AND THE CHICKEN TACOS ARE GOOD MY 6 YEAR OLD AND I LIKED IT.
They’re on a list or two as possibly the best margaritas in NYC, and in my mind they deserve the title. Great margaritas, both rocks and frozen, not too sweet, and quite strong. A+
My go to spot for some frozen margs. So tasty. Food is delicious also.
Ok, so I received a LOT of dm's when I last posted a video of coming here. One thing for sure and two things for certain, if what you sell is in the actual name of the brand/company/store you should excel in it. This place is a gem in bushwick. It's nothing grandiose, but i'm ok with that because the tacos and the margaritas this place serves up surpasses the limited space they have. One thing I wish changed about this place is the time they open. I don't want to wait until 5pm to start my Taco Tuesday, that's blasphemy lol
I generally try to stay away from tequila but this margarita bar is literally a siren for me. They have happy hour Fridays AND Sundays, so there is every excuse to visit (It's the end of the work week! It's the eve before the work week!). They have seasonal flavors that'll knock your socks off in addition to the regular menus flavors, and delicious noms that'll keep you ready for one more drink. Also? The bartenders are ACES. I wish I could carbon copy them and have them at every bar I go to.
Great food, & a variety of 20 + flavors of Margaret's. Nice place to sit outside and have a drink and enjoy the atmosphere.
DELICIOUS TACOS WITH 22 FLAVORS OF MARGARITAS! You seriously can't go wrong with Calabrije's. Try the bacon taco and thank me later! *Pro tip, ask the bartender to mix 2 flavors in your margarita.
The best drinks, staff, service and food you can find. I’ve never had a better margarita than at Calabrijes. Make sure to check out their upper east side location too.
Absolutely fantastic space to go to during this lockdown and social distancing stage we are in. Food is fantastic, and I must say it was lovely to have something that I was not cooking at home. They wrap drinks to go superbly, and none of the quality is lost. Just walked home with three tacos, sipping a frozen coconut margarita on the way. It was a milkshake in the summer!
I fell in love with this place the moment I walked in. It's one of those place that you can tell the owner loved what they do and put an enormous about of thought into how to build and market their business. The margaritas are delicious, the vibe is great, the food is delicious and the service is wonderful. In addition to ALL OF THAT, the happy hour specials are great too!!! This is my new favorite spot.
Went here with friends to grab a few tacos. Amelia was super friendly, very knowledgable and made us feel welcome! The food was reasonably priced and delicious and the margaritas were as well. I look forward to going back. Thank you, Amelia! You are a star!
This place has really good tacos they have amazing flavor and they give huge portion sauces. They have really good drinks as well. But honestly this place is totally not worth drinking or even eating.. their tacos are so small they literarily use the smallest 3 in diameter taco shells lol..and charge u 11$ for 2 tacos because they add the service charge. Honeslty I am a waitress and I would never tip 15% for some dang tacos. Santa salsa next door has great drinks for literrly 10$ No 15% added. Their food is also great just not tacos more like bar food. I will give this place good rating Bc nothing is wrong here. It’s just the prices are totally cheating you out of the experience!
Huge and delicious margarita selection. Personally I love the jalapeno margarita on the rocks. Very nice happy hour on the margaritas. Decent tacos and Mexican fare if you're also hungry.
Margaritas are always so so so good, I get emotional thinking about them!!! A cute place, 21 marg flavors AND they do to-go drinks?!?! Get out of townnn!! Lychee margarita was heaven!!
This place is the total bomb-diggity!! Rosio and her partners in crime are the best hosts. She also makes the best margaritas on this side of the universe. The decor is fun and fantastic (Day of the Dead, Skulls, etc). The snacks are good too. Great place for a night of drinks and catching up with friends.
The BEST Mexican food I've ever had!! The food leans more on the authentic Mexican style of food instead of the "American" version of Mexican food. Highly suggest the shrimp tacos, the quesadillas, and the esquite. The staff and owners are incredible and extremely nice! The atmosphere is quirky and wonderful with beautiful colorful creatures on the walls.
Cute in the wall margarita spot! Many flavors but not many food options. A bit like bar food yet delicious! Fun fact take your drinks on the GO!
I’ve been to this place a few times and it’s always the same bar tender somehow! He’s pretty awesome. Drinks are really good. Staff is even better. They have a small food menu with quesadillas and tacos and such but if you’re looking for a huge meal eat before you get there! Other than the drinks they have a spot on the wall where they showcase a new painting every month. The last time I went was a painting of Frida Khalo.
This new spot has a lot going for it. The nachos and gorditas were very good, and the lychee margarita (one of about a dozen margarita flavors behind the bar) was delicious. The vibe is perfect for a date or just a hangout with a couple of friends. The whole place is decked out Dia de Los Muertes style, too, which I'm fond of. Worth checking out!
I love this bar! My friends and I frequent this spot on the weekends. The staff is always friendly and accommodating. Our favorite margaritas are pineapple coconut frozen or mango coconut frozen 😋. You can’t go wrong with some tropical flavors after a stressful day of work. Aside from the amazing and tasty drinks, the vibes of the place is phenomenal. We have been coming here every season and it’s always busy! Which is great for them. For other commenters here, get off your butts from the stools and pick-up your drinks! Its a bar, hello!! The chorizo and chicken tinga nachos are amazing, don’t skimp out on those. We always drench their salsa verdes and salsa roja (their salsa roja is so yummy but very spicy! Dont ever change the recipe though). Overall a great spot for friends to hangout and have a an amazing evening sipping on margs ☺️
Had the cherry rose special. It was pretty good. I enjoyed the flavor. My friends had pomegranate with hibiscus 🌺 and passion fruit. We enjoyed our margaritas, the heavy metal music not so much. Didn't go with the theme. We drank a little and left so we can find a spot that suited our musical needs
If you love margaritas, this is the place to go!!! So many options of flavors and they are DELISH! I had the Pink Guava and also the Hibiscus, both were amazing. You can even mix and match!!! Definitely try this spot if you are in the neighborhood.
Delicious! Tacos, chips, guacamole, margaritas all hit the spot. Good music too!
Update: they require vaccine card to eat indoor even if not mandate until September Hands down best flavored margaritas had a cucumber , mango , jalapeño , tamarind and pomegranate and all where on point . Service Awesome . There no host just walk in and get comfortable find a spot and have fun .... decor is nice ....place is small but fun.... place is Good for drinks ! food is okay guac is okay with chips menu
Fun place with a great atmosphere. Candy on the margaritas was a great touch. Frozen margs a tiny bit small for what they are, but tasty. Food was good but overpriced. Better to get a quick snack and then eat somewhere else.
Loving little place and the tacos are amazing! Margaritas out this world! Would recommend if you want simple and great! I got the carnitas tacos
Great experience! 🤩 Drinks were awesome 🍹, food is tasty 😋, and atmosphere is lively 🎉. #Experience #Drinks #Food #Atmosphere
I had a wonderful experience at Calabrije's Margaritas & Tacos! From start to finish, everything was outstanding. The service was friendly and attentive. The vibes were great, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere that made it the perfect spot to unwind. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful. And the drinks? Phenomenal! Do yourself a favor and try the mango flavored margarita. I can't recommend this place enough. Amazing food, outstanding service, and great ambiance all around. Definitely worth a visit!
Margaritas are PERFECTION! We went there for the margaritas and they did not disappoint. Food is good too, but the drinks are superb. We had: tamarind, coconut, cucumber, and coconut lychee. We ate potato with chorizo tacos and carnitas tacos. It was January, so cold, you know. The only thing that was annoying was that they kept alternating between heat and air conditioning, so either you were getting blasted with hot air or you got a breeze of cold air. I just think they should set the thermostat to auto, so it stays pretty much the same temp. The decor is cute, music is not too loud, so you can hear each other, and the people who work there are very nice.
Overall rating: 4.89 Omg, like wow! I wasn’t sure what to expect with the average 4.3 rating but something is wrong with people. The margaritas at $10!! Regular price. Not happy hour. I know I know, “but Olivia it’s bushwick”. That means absolutely nothing. There is a bar right nearby where a cocktail is $17. My favorite was a blueberry margarita. Unfortunately I couldn’t capture the picture in time. I had to knock down a few points because the bathroom experience was Weird. And I wish it was a bit more spacious. For the tacos, you can only get two of the same kind. I just swapped one with my friend. I got the chorizo and I think she got chicken something. I really enjoyed both. But if I had to choose, I liked the chorizo more. 1. Potato and Chorizo 2. Chorizo 3. Chicken 4. Birreria Also the Guac was sooooo good. Omg! I absolutely loved it. I will be back immediately when I’m in the area.
Great musical atmosphere and the food/drinks were served quickly. You can choose from 21 Margarita flavors & even combine two (frozen or on the rocks). I had Mango & Passion fruit for my first round, and pomegranate & lime as my second. Little candy is included inside the drinks, which makes them even tastier. I ordered the chicken quesadilla & it was delicious! My friend ordered a blueberry & coconut margarita. She said the coconut was better alone & she got the chorizo taco. She said it was delicious as well. I'm not sure if you can take the drinks to go but this area is really busy & the energy & music is very lively.
The decoration at this place is outstanding, super mexican style with a lot of art very characteristic from mexico!! All type of possible tasty and flavor margaritas frozen, on the rocks with mezcal etc... they have food as well!! Pretty tasty... service was amazing. I do highly recommend this place the neighborhood is very trendy and parking options are not too bad.
The best tequila bar in Bushwick! 22 flavors of margaritas. Incredible selection of mezcal and tequila. Friendly staff with a great happy hour until 7pm. Great vibes. Can’t go wrong here!
Decent. Weird service chargee once I got my bill. Everything was good but I've had equally good or better for cheaper. Probably won't go back unless they have a happy hour or something like that. Very friendly service, by the way, so that makes it 4 instead of 3 stars from me.
Small spot with ok marga. They do have the best selection and a million different flavors. Come here if you're craving a very specific flavor, they'll probably have it
Found this place during the pandemic, rly good variety of frozen margaritas- could be a bit stronger. Food portions are generous. Nice spot for a quick bite/drink.
Don't let the size of the place fool you. Enjoy with caution. 2 margaritas will have you calling an Uber to take you home. The food was good as well. I had a good time. I will return.
The frozen margarita was fine. I would hesitate to call it the "BEST" one I've ever had, but it was refreshing. The ordering and service process is not intuitive, but the staff were friendly.
This is a very popular spot. I must say it felt a bit overcrowded but that could be due to my visit being on a late Friday night. Service was decent. The chairs are extremely close to one another and I don't feel like there was enough space in between. The drinks were pretty and tasted decent. I love the candy addition! My strawberry margarita was pretty nice.
Let’s get in to it. Lol. I would 💯 percent recommend this place for the margaritas. They are strong, tasty and not tarty (thank god). They have lots of flavors to choose from so everyone could get something they like. Where they fall short is the eating area outside. The setup was not well shaded. The street seating didn’t really have much counter space and had tons of flies. The food I would give. 8/10. Not a bad score but while the presentation was good the nachos could have been gooey. The taco was good but didn’t really knock my socks off. The quesadilla had to be my favorite bite of the day. Definitely would be my go too. I got the steak. The service was quick and friendly. All and all I would definitely check this place out and enjoy drinks again for sure.
The place is alright. Smaller than expected, there was barely room to move with how close the other table and seats are to each other. The food was on the pricer side and you’ll need to walk up to the bar table to order which felt really unnecessary in my opinion.
Their tacos aren’t that good to me, I’ve had better & they don’t have much options either, I heard they drinks are fire tho. HEADS UP they charge service fee but have no waitors, you have to order your food first at the bar and then they bring it out.
It really hurts my soul to give this review. I love this place and it has served us very very well over many years. I would give 5 stars but you have taken your shrimp quesadillas off the menu. Please bring them back ❤️
Margaritas is good but the guy didn't speak English and it says no taxes included but it was tax included bills on the $60 wasn't worth the money but overall nice environment
Cute place with a bit loud music. Drinks are very good here, food is average. They don’t have shrimp tacos despite menu photos shows that they do. You have to order drinks and food at the bar and pick up drinks at the bar
Got nachos here. I paid 24 dollars for nachos that didn’t even have guac on them. They were okay for the other part but not worth the price.
The margaritas are really good. Ton of flavors and variety. The tacos are good as well but expensive, unreasonably expensive. They’re on one VERY thin tortilla so they fall apart immediately after one bite. The veggie quesadilla was great, yet again very small and quite expensive. There’s a 15% service charge (wasn’t considered gratuity) which doesn’t really make sense since you have to order the food and drinks yourself. All in all it’s a good time but very expensive for what it is.
Decent taco spot. Lots and lots of margarita flavor options- I’d skip on combining flavors and just try the solo flavors. Tacos were flavorful (not skimpy with the meat portion) but only one corn tortilla instead of the two they give at most tacos spots. Nachos were...egh. I’d probably return because it’s local, reasonably priced and the tacos weren’t bad but definitely not the top taco spot in the area (I’ve tried A LOT of them)
So this place wasn’t horrible but kind of mediocre to me based on all the hype. The guacamole for the chips and guacamole was heavily undersalted and I had to add some myself. Chips were decent and warm. My hibiscus margarita tasted like nothing (normal lime) but my bf’s cucumber was surprising refreshing I actually highly recommend that and my pineapple mango tasted like the pineapple mango smoothie from McDonald’s but my bf said his blueberry coconut had an off putting after taste. Essentially the flavors are hit or miss and in my opinion they are not that strong. I hated the auto gratuity on every check despite the fact that it’s self service. Wouldn’t return unless I’m in the area. PS if you guys want really good and really strong margaritas check out 5 Burro cafe in forest hills. Their food is also delicious.
Been following this place for a while on IG. So me and my lady dropped in on Taco Tuesday (4/4). The place is small with tables very close together. I can see it getting ver crowded on weekends. There is no waitress to come to your table to take your order. You have to get up and order it at the bar. The food is brought to your table. But the drinks were left at the front end of the bar for you to pick them up. So you have to get up out your seat if you choose not to wait for your drink. FYI they have a 15% service charge. My lady said the bathroom is some what far that’s she had to walk like an alley to get there. Who’s ever been here must know what she means. Let’s get into the food started with chips an guacamole. It was bland guacamole. It was missing the lime, salt, pepper, cilantro, garlic. Guac lovers know. Next we had order chicken and chorizo tacos. The chorizo tacos were good, chicken weren’t the greatest. It was something with the flavor. I ate though, I was starving lol. The star of the show “ THE MARGARITAS” 🍹. I say must get on the rocks get more of the flavor you choose. You can mix up to 2 flavors. Blueberry margarita ordered frozen. It was 👍🏻👍🏻 up out of 5. Will try the blueberry on the rock next time. Blood orange on the rocks. my lady loved it. I never had a blood orange so it wasn’t my favorite. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 for her. The Coconut, lychee, tamarind, & pink guava on the rocks 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Bangers, they hit!!! They’re are a must try. I can’t wait to go back and try the rest. So in “MY OPINION” I give this place 3 stars based on overall experience. 5 star if I was only judging the drinks. So yeah stop try some of the margaritas and you can take to go. I’m definitely going back. That’s my review adios✌🏻
Spot is local to me with happy hour specials and wish I could say better. Tacos were weak, large selections of what seemed to be artificially flavored margaritas this is the wild wild east we need 110% game when it comes to Mexican cuisine.
they serve 2 mini tacos for 14$ …
Out of five Decor 4 Food 1 Service 2 Literally the WORST Mexican food I've ever had in my entire life. Decent margaritas. You're best bet is to go to Dos Hermanos down the block grab REAL tacos and it's BYOB.
Great atmosphere. Buuuuut $8 for 2 tacos, smaller than the palm of your hand. Esquite is corn in a cup. Not canned corn with the canning juice in a cup. I can’t believe I paid $7 for a cup of CANNED CORN with some cheese on top. Bad taste. Say sike.
Tried to do something different for margaritas. This place is def overrated. The drinks are cute and something different bc of the flavors but your def not getting the slightest buzz off of them even if you drink 5. They add little candy touches to them. Food is a bit mediocre. Wasn’t crazy about the music. Ended up leaving shortly arriving and one drink.
They have many different flavors of margaritas but the have zero kick to them (you'll need to drink 5-10 of them if you want get a nice buzz).....at this place you order your own food/drinks at the register & you have to pick it up once your order is ready (whether your dining in or out).
I hate writing reviews but this place is a tourist trap they have service charge I never seen that before . The waiters don’t even bring you your drink ,You need to stand up and get your own drink , so what’s the point of the service charge if you aren’t providing a full service . I’m honestly disappointed don’t come to this place for tacos the tacos have no flavor . Looks like the owner pays to market his establishment and wheels in customer. But what the owner doesn’t understand this a one time stop . I don’t think any customers are coming back after the first experience. Highly suggest you guys work on making the food better and service better . I am a business expert so take my suggestion .
Good margaritas but the tacos were made of not very high quality meat, relatively flavorless and had pretty much no garnish on them (some onions, that's it). The red and green sauces that were out had NO flavor. I wouldn't come here again.
The food is good, but they charge you for service, but there's no service. You have to order everything at the bar and bring it yourself. The tacos aren't truly Mexican; it's not worth it.
Tacos are trash, no flavor. As others have mentioned not authentic Mexican. Margaritas taste watered down.
When this place opened it was was very good, nice ambience, always people inside and fantastic drinks. One year it got voted best margarita by some publication- after that it went down hill. Last time I was in there on a Friday night no one else was there. I ordered a margarita and could not even drink it- everything totally changed. The margarita had no fresh ingredients (not even lime) and was sickly sweet, garnished with a gummy candy on top. What a shame, they got an awesome write up and felt they could just start to cut corners, stop caring and service garbage.
The margaritas are great I love how they have a cute little candy on it depending on the flavor but the food was not so great. Didn’t have any flavor at all. It seems like a Mexican restaurant from the decor, menu and name but it really isn’t. The music the total opposite, the food no flavor. The only thing Mexican were the names of the food and the decor. I forgot to take photos 😵💫 it’s a cute place though friendly and helpful staff.
The tacos are mid. Type expensive for mid tacos. And the margaritas taste like they were made by a straight guy. 2$ off on Tuesday deal isn’t worth in my opinion. They charge a 15% service charge for all sale which is dumb because it’s barely any service. They have a self serve water station, and you have to pick up your drinks and food at the bar. Not coming back here again. The workers are nice though.
The nachos were delicious and satiating!! However, the birrias (2 tacos) were extremely small and are very overpriced ($14) for the amount that they give. Very crowded and no space to be comfortable.
I visited this place on a Friday night with my wife and enjoyed the deco. After ordering drinks/food we asked if we could move to the bigger table since we were waiting on friends, waiter said ok. We were sitting there for about 10 minutes waiting for our friends and two couples come in and another waiter approaches and asks me to move … understandable as we were only two. I asked him if we can hold the table as we were waiting for friends and even showed him my friend’s text message that they were on the way. Instead of hearing me out, this bartender PHYSICALLY grabbed my food and drinks from right in front of my wife and moved it to another table. As he did this my friends showed up and looked just as confused as I was. After being embarrassed, my wife and I asked for the check and left to the next door Venezuelan restaurant that had way better service. Very disappointing experience and this restaurant would have made much more money with my party of 8.
Paid 46 dollars for four extremely skimpy tacos and two micheladas that we’re also in small cups (half a beer can each), and they didn’t give us the rest of the beer can as all places do. We asked for two waters, and they didn’t have water! They then asked us to change our tacos order because they didn’t have the tacos listed on the menu. The wait time for our food was miserable (55 min), and the music was obnoxious rock that was not Mexican or Latinx, at all. Pandering to hipster grunge has made this place loose its vision.
Not sure if they're in some sort of soft opening, but I walked in and there was no host, no server, and no acknowledgement from the busy bartender. I was looking forward to seeing what they had to offer, now I probably never will. Especially since, of you're not afraid of actual Latinos, there are already plenty of great, much less expensive option around.
Eat at your own risk! The food tasted just crap. The ignorant bartender over charges us and then tries to explain that we’ve waived taxes when taxes are being charged on the bill.
The Margaritas are great, different flavors. Inside decor, Is very creative. ONE STAR ,the gratuity is included !!! I wouldn’t mind if I have the server bringing out my food or drinks . So, this is how it works ; You sit at the table , go to the front and order food/drinks etc. Go back to your table , then pick them up when its ready. Order food and pick it up again when its ready, and what if you want another round ? You do the whole process.I know the whole hospitality business and the gratuity should be earned. Also, they don’t let you know its added . The first time is my fault for not noticing and tipped on top of added gratuity. This second time, I did notice and its wasn’t worth it all this back and forth . There are different spots in this area , where they provide good service and gratuity is earned.
Everything was really cool about this place, except the bartender, we were excited to have cocktails at this bar but when we ordered one that was too spicy for our liking, and asked if we can have something else, That we really don't like it and only had a sip, we were told no and have to pay for it. I've worked as a bartender myself, and I would never just let someone drink a drink that they didn't like and paid for it. Horrible service, I told myself she probably didn't care about the customers because the gratuity was already placed on your bill, so you can't even give the amount of tip you think she should get for her service. She would have gotten nothing from me if it was up to me.
Expensive, the nachos and tacos were terrible (tortilla falling apart, no cilantro or onions, cold cheese on nachos)
So disappointed by our experience here. The food was terrible and margaritas were sub-par. We ordered guacamole that tasted like there wasn’t a pinch of salt in the whole bowl. The tacos...I could make better tacos at home and the rice and beans literally looked like they came out of a microwave. All of this was served on those cheap colored plastic plates everyone has in their college dorm. Not to mention the service wasn’t great either. Go anywhere but here for Mexican food. There’s way better tacos down the street.
This was self service, not even water given to us or offered. We had to go directly for our drinks, stand up for napkins or anything we needed and on top of that the 15% was added to our check as gratuity automatically. What service? Not even informed by the bartender that it was included so we left a tip that ended up being additional. I don't recommend to go to this place to pay for a lame "service" 😒.
DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS. DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BUSINESS, ESPECIALLY FOR ANYONE IN RECOVERY OR WHO DOESN'T CONSUME ALCOHOL. I visited recently and asked if they had agua frescas they didn't. I then asked if they could prepare a non-alcoholic drink for me. I was willing to pay full price — I just wanted to avoid alcohol due to personal reasons. I was met with resistance from the bar staff, who claimed they couldn't make anything custom, which was already disappointing. They eventually agreed to make me a drink with tamarindo. When I received the drink and took a sip, I quickly realized they gave me the wrong drink, as I took a sip and it had alcohol. I immediately returned to the bar and asked for it to be fixed. Again, I received pushback and was met with a lack of empathy. When I escalated to the manager (short dark skin Peruvian man I believe), instead of resolving the issue, I was talked down to and told they wouldn't change the drink — even though it was their mistake. Egotistical. The manager was dismissive, condescending, and showed no regard for how serious this situation was for me. This wasn't just a customer service failure — it was deeply disrespectful to someone trying to maintain their recovery. After a full 30min they eventually came to my table to give me the right drink, the guilt must of hit. Regardless, I WILL NOT COME BACK. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect, especially when health and sobriety are involved. I hope this business reflects on how they handle sensitive customer concerns in the future.
