Opinions de La Cantine New York
We had an amazing time at Sunsets with my sister! The vibe is very relaxed and intimate, and the staff is super friendly. I’m obsessed with their decoration and kitchenware. We loved the food, it felt very fresh and light despite the challenging winter flavors. We recommend everything we had honestly: the winter caprese, the beets with smoked feta, the mushroom toast, the potatoes, the tuna crudo, the panna cotta, the hazelnut tiramisu and the chilled red wine! I’ll come back with friends to try the rest of the menu 😍
Lovely place! Some of the best food in the area. Everything they serve is high quality and thoughtfully prepared. Desserts are to die for. Definitely a more leisurely experience- budget in a longer wait time around peak lunch hours, but it's well worth it.
Everything on the menu is so good; I think this is my new fave restaurant in the neighborhood but even if I weren’t nearby I’d go out of my way for it. It’s not cheap nor expensive, but whatever it costs is worth it. It’s good food, and there’s always something new to try with a rotating menu. Maybe not a crowd pleaser because there’s no burger? But to me that is a good thing. My friends say it’s kind of date-y but I’ve only ever gone with friends and had a lovely evening. I also love that they reserve bar seating for walk ins so you can always dine solo or just have an option in case you’re not a resy person.
My favorite morning coffee in the area. The coffee is great, the staff are great, and the pastries are out of this world. The savory breakfast is a bit too expensive in my opinion, but the ingredients are good and fresh.
I thought the sandwiches here were good & then I came here for dinner last night with a pal & it was one of the friendliest and best meals I’ve had in Bushwick in a while. Unpretentious, great flavor, healthy & we had a great time eating it. Also a decent selection of wine and not a wild amount of $ for a bottle. You can get a lot of grub here for the right price and walk away feeling very satisfied. Def coming back for dinner.
as a French person, i would not consider this restaurant as “French” - at least for brunch/ Sunday lunch menu. We went today for the first time, this was delicious !! Our fav sandwich was the one where we added mortadella, & there was jam inside. The bread for the sandwich was very good. Def recommend, after a breakfast at la Cabra next to it.
Had this place on my list for a while - every day their Insta stories break my heart for seeing what I miss here! And they didn’t disappoint. We ordered the vegan chickpea sando with extra egg and a special: spicy lemon drop + basil chicken cutlet sandwich. Also a tiny raspberry cakey treat and the pecan pie for takeaway. Everything was divine, super fresh, super creative, super colorful and flavor bombs. I wish I could go every day since they have new specials daily! Also the drink menu is not to miss - the date oat milk shake was so goooood. Only downside: it tends to get a little chill since there’s a lot of people going in and out. But it’s a busy place for a reason!
This was my first stop for food in NY, I love the goblet dessert bowls and all of the food selections. They were serving raspberry tiramisu this week, and the ribbed corn was to die for. I came here again for one of the breakfast sandwiches but I wasn’t too big on the colder items and pastries that were open for display. Definitely go for freshly prepared items :) This place is perfect for a quick bite. I will be returning when I’m back in NY!
I decided to treat myself to a solo date at Cantine after drooling over the photos that they post on their instagram of their desserts. Truly one of the best meals I have had in a long time. The menu is definitely more ideal for groups of people to share with each other; however , i ordered the fettuccine and it was the perfect size for me! I love how fresh the menu is and that it changes with seasons. This just makes me want to come back!! I ordered the pasta and it was cooked perfectly!!! Not too heavy and the tomatoes were delicious. If you don’t order dessert honestly you literally missed the stars of this establishment. I had the stone fruit tiramisu and WOWOWOWOWOW is it insane. I mean how does one even think of such a thing? Divine.
I’ve been to La Cantine many many times over the past few years. The staff is always lovely and on TOP of things. The food is always incredible. Very high quality ingredients and amazing flavor combinations. Tonight I had a scheduling snafu and had to change my reservation to a bit later than originally scheduled (reader, do not do this, it’s rude), and the staff was very accommodating. When we got there our server was an absolute delight even during a busy time at the restaurant. We told them we had booked a reservation post-dinner at Ayat just to get the Earl grey and passionfruit tiramisu (and some wine, of course). They also recommended the forced rhubarb pavlova. We were stuffed, but took their suggestion and were AMAZED by how delicious it was. I go to La Cantine when I need a solid pick-me-up meal and it never disappoints.
Always such a wonderful experience! The most amazing and sweetest servers make it so that I always want to come back. Incredible food, my partner and I shared everything and left feeling so full and nourished. Great wine, beautiful ambiance, couldn’t ask for more! A real neighborhood gem!
This French-inspired food is spectacular. The portions are perfect to try a couple of their dishes and share. The chef will course your meal based on your order. I fully recommend getting recommendations from the servers. Our was wonderful and explained everything to us. Great wine selection!
Cute spot. I came here for a super quick dinner for two. Unfortunately, I didn't have a lot of time to sit and enjoy the menu, but we did love the bread and ramp lasagna. My red wine was good, as well. Also, I really liked the staff that night. Very friendly and accommodating when we had more people show up out of the blue, so thanks for that! Would love to come back when I have more time to enjoy the food. Please keep that earl grey pavlova on the menuuu!!! I need it.
The crispy potatoes and jambon sandwich were delicious. We also had the layered lemon cake which was great, especially as the cream on top wasn't too sweet at all. You ordered and pay at the counter, it's first come, first served situation with the tables. There's plenty of outdoor seating too.
We tried the Christmas-named sandwich recommended by the staff and the potato layer sandwich, and both were enjoyable. The shop was small and cozy, with a pleasant atmosphere. Rather than being particularly unique, the food offered familiar and comforting flavors, which made the experience relaxed and enjoyable. Overall, it was a satisfying visit, and I would like to come back again.
Honestly the food is good and I’ve dined in here before and had a pleasant experience but have to give it 3 so people don’t make the same mistake as me bc I feel like I got robbed lol. The small salad was 14 dollars-with tip total was 18, and the size I was given was basically a side salad container…..feeling very ripped off, still hungry, and frustrated, I guess I should have splurged for the large lol
Have always loved the food and vibes, however ended up in the area an hour ahead of my reservation tonight and kindly checked in just in case of an earlier opening - a host made us feel like it was a crime to ask whether there was any available earlier seating. Would hesitate to return based on that alone, hospitality in Brooklyn is sadly in a rough moment. Treat people the way you’d like to be treated.
Prices are ridiculous and the portions are tiny. These gentrified cafes are ridiculous!! This tiny parfait bowl was $14 and there’s barely anything in it. And a $10 for a simple no frills coffee….and the nerve to have a tip tab for the barista on DoorDash Go to a real diner or cafe cause this place ain’t it.
