We went here for brunch on Saturday and it was so lovely! We had a reservation and were sat right away in a cozy little booth for two. My friend got the grits special and I got the quiche lorraine. Both were delish! Service was super nice too. We will be back.

You can expect a good meal. And the service is very good. It's a small place so probably not good for parties more than 6 indoors. And if you are more than 4 do make a reservation in advance. The have a shack at the curb that is very well heated...if you are more than 4-5? be ready to eat outside during high traffic times. Anyway very good food compared to other restaurants I've been to in the area.

This beautiful little spot is perfect for date night, after work cocktails, and even a personal treat. They have a focused menu, and everything is delicious and consistent. Their service is impeccable, the cocktails are inspired, and the wine list is good as well.

Super amazing place!! Very nice and warm environment. Great service. Quality of food was outstanding. First time I tried octopus that was so soft and tender at the same time. Owner was very kind to accommodate on the last min on Xmas night!!

6 stars! My first time in Brooklyn I couldn’t have found a better restaurant. I had amazing crepes with Swiss cheese, mushrooms and spinach, prepared to perfection and very well presented. The service was excellent, the ambiance very welcoming and unpretentious. Highly recommended.

I really enjoyed my meal and the atmosphere. My only issue was that there was no bread with the cheese plate but it’s not enough for me to rate this restaurant any less than five stars.

Always an amazing experience dining in here. Amazing frog legs and the Bartender T is always making amazing drinks. One of my favorite places.

Chez Moi is what I think of when I think ‘French, intimate diner’. The ambiance is fantastic, with warm lighting and music that isn’t overpowering. Service was great but a bit understaffed. The food was delicious, especially the onion soup.

We spent our NYE here last night and absolutely loved every bite. The mushroom croquette, lobster bisque, braised short rib, crème brûlée and the mousse were absolutely incredible!! Every bite had us closing our eyes with delight.

Popped in on a Sunday night having just returned to the city, tired, looking for something easy and delicious. Started with moules frites in white wine and garlic, then she had the peppercorn steak and I the salmon filet atop a plinth of ratatouille. The food was exactly as expected, in the best way: well prepared, of good quality, and served hot. Mussel broth, ever so slightly saltier than my taste, was packed with garlic flavor and the mussels were excellent: all attached and not too big or small. Peppercorn steak sauce on point. Steak temp on point. Salmon temp on point. Ratatouille a real highlight with the eggplant, peppers, tomatoes, and relevant sundries well cozied up to each other. As I said - easy and delicious. George was on hand, as helpful as you would want but completely unobtrusive. This probably sounds snobby but I honestly can't recall the last time a server 'waited' on my table so professionally. The restaurant itself is a modest but well-appointed space. Classic bistro charm. I could absolutely see myself grabbing a seat at the bar for a bowl of soup, or meeting friends for frog legs and grand vin. I'll be coming back. Likely more than once: the whole menu looked appetizing and the specials to boot. Only with great effort do we achieve such taste chez moi.

One of the best. French cuisine is for sure the best all over the world far from this basic italian one.

This place is soooo sexy. Aude was an amazing server. The staff was so attentive and pleasant with our large group. They definitely took very good care of us, holding our table in the main dining as well as our area downstairs for the burlesque show. We were able to watch both shows this particular night and it was an amazing girl's night out. Get all the things...we ordered almost everything form the menu and have no complaints.

My fiancé and I went to Chez Moi for my Birthday dinner. He had the fish special and I had the mussels. The mussels were huge and so clean! They tasted so fresh! We also tried the frog legs and I was pleasantly surprised. Of course we had the escargot and it was delicious.

The food was very delicious! This was my first time at this restaurant, and our server made it a great experience, along with the food of course. Their French 75 cocktail is divine!

I’ve been coming to Chez Moi for the past 2 years and I have to say that the food is consistent every time. The best thing to order is the fried chicken sandwich on the brunch menu. It’s the best chicken sandwich, crispy on the outside and tender inside. Even the fries came out fresh and hot. I’ve also had the BLT which is super delicious. Can’t comment on the service since it was low touch this time. But last time we came for dinner our server was very patient and friendly!

Great gem in the heart of Brooklyn. From the ambiance to the service to the food, it was a great experience. The mussels and the duck were my favorite. And enjoyed trying escargot for the first time! Our waiter really helped guide us through the menu and made it a memorable experience.

Very sweet French restaurant. We had lamb, risotto and frog legs. The food was very delicious, especially the lamb! Nice atmosphere, even though it was a bit too cold inside for our taste. Would definitely recommend.

K

We had an absolutely stunning dining experience at this quaint French restaurant. Expect all the traditional French fare, wonderfully made cocktails, and a great wine list. Go for the steak tartare and the mussels... stay for the after dinner drinks and desserts.

Location: upscale yet casual, dress code is loose but nice. Great ambiance, low light dinner setting makes for a perfect evening date location. The added "secret" bar also adds to the allure. Food: absolutely fantastic. We had the foi gras, which was nutty and smooth (I know, it is a terrible thing, but when in a French restaurant, you have to seize the opportunity). The escargot was also great. The duck breast was perfectly cooked, and the orange reduction paired masterfully. My wife had the risotto, which she raved about. The wine selection is moderate but very well placed, with mostly French and European options. Service: attentive, cordial, and warm without being interruptive. A full house on a Saturday night but somehow never felt out of reach. Value: 100% will visit again and take out of town friends in. About $50 per person with drinks, it is a fine dining experience without the stuffy feel of city restaurants. It's definitely a gem of a place.

Food and atmosphere are, but more importantly I forgot a hat that my gf gifted me and was only able to get it back because of Madeline (a host) and Emma (a server). I really appreciate the staff’s help. Can’t wait to forgot my hat again, might start doing it weekly tbh

S

We had a fabulous time at Chez Moi. We didn't have a reservation but after a short wait we were seated in a cozy corner of the patio. The food has a lot of subtle tones, each ingredient having its own independent addition to the whole. The whole experience including two glasses of wine, shared appeziter, two entrees, two teas, and a shared dessert totalled to about $120--a very reasonable amount for a date night. We will be back as soon as we can!

Chez Moi in Brooklyn Heights is a delightful find! The cozy atmosphere sets the stage for a memorable experience. Their sweet dessert is a true indulgence, beautifully crafted and bursting with flavor. Exceptional service tops off the visit. A must-try spot!

I’m a long time resident of this area but only just discovered this jem. It has a super chill, old school NY flavor— a classic french bistro without the pretense. The food is consistently great- whether it’s the burger- which my daughter, who knows her burgers, puts in the same range as Red Hook Tavern, or the branzino special i had last night- it’s consistently great. Nice staff, good music- 10/10.

A lovely, cozy vibe, delicious food and excellent service. Loved the croquettes, mussels, bibb salad, tuna tartar and creme brulee.

We were a party of six for Sunday brunch. We got there at around 11am and they had a table for us. Yay! I had the French toast with strawberries. Yum! My daughter had the croque monsieur which she also enjoyed. The service was attentive and friendly. By around 1145ish, all the tables were occupied. Bonus: I left my hat and went back the next day. They had it! Cool people!

One of my favorite restaurants in all of Brooklyn. The mussels are unmatched (and well priced) and the martinis are perfect. I think about octopus with hazelnuts and chickpeas almost everyday of my life. The French onion soup, the wine selection, the desserts… Chez Moi is perfect. Also great for brunch but very sexy candlelit vibes at night – go to Long Island bar after for a nightcap. Thank you for existing!

Food was great and mussels were abundant which is great bang for your buck. Sweet and smooth. Fries crispy as always. Service was great and tailored, felt like I got what I needed in a timely manner. Just read a review from a guy that clearly thinks he’s Anthony Bourdain. This place hit again and I will coming back!

Stopped by with some friends & it was an amazing experience! This is one of my go-to spots in BK ever since my wife took me for b-day dinner a few years ago. Incredibly cozy, food is 🔥🔥🔥, and everyone who works there is super friendly and fun to talk to. Can’t say enough good things about this place!!!

D

I really enjoyed the escargot. It came out sizzling hot so I would just advise to let it cool down first. Other than that the food was excellent and the atmosphere was great. Our waitress Ude was amazing she was so funny and her French accent really made the food sound even better. Would definitely recommend.

G

Exceptional French bistro, candle lit, flawless dishes, well presented, in a cosy atmosphere. A struggle not to believe you weren't in Paris. Can recommend the sea bass, but it was on the specials menu, escargot great, cheese plate perfect, as was the Shiraz, and of course the service.

M
Michelle Everett

We loved the Escargot, Tuna Tartare, and Frog Legs. I felt the Pate was good. The staff, the manager on duty, and the overall service were excellent. We truly enjoyed the bartender on duty as well. We will return again soon. Thank you for a memorable evening. My sister said the Duck entree was fabulous!

Very cool place! Great atmosphere, friendly staff and very delicious food! From start to finish, everything was wonderful. A greeting at the door followed by our pick of seating and met with a server who was attentive, kind and willing to joke around with us. The food was amazing. I ordered the Natural Chicken, and even something as simple as chicken was so well seasoned with a thin crispy skin that it was like a special. Very well put together flavors. The drinks were good too and rounded out the experience. You will leave here very happy, I promise.

A nice, comfortable atmosphere and amazing food. Recommend the steak with fries and a salad, and for the dessert a must try is the chocolate mousse.

A

Easily the best croque madame I’ve had in the city, fair prices and they do their potatoes so well. Cute little bistro, feels small and appropriately French. They get busy and there aren’t a ton of service staff, but no complaints, the kitchen was cranking good food out at a good pace. A neighborhood gem!!!

My favorite brunch spot in Brooklyn! Their food and drinks are consistent and well executed. We ordered cheesy grits (special of the day) which was the ultimate comfort dish 😻

J
James Bremner

The food quality is much better than comparable french places around the city. The steak tartare was the first one that I've had for a long time that really stood out - properly flavored and seasoned. Mussels were excellent and just a little different with the sauces than one might expect. Overall everything was a level or two elevated from what you might think.

Z

My fave local restaurant. The food is always exceptional and prices are very fair. Service is top notch. Diana was our server this particular evening and did a marvelous job. They have done a great job keeping things going under the tough circumstances of Covid. Stop in if you get the chance. Very cozy. Outdoor and limited indoor seating.

B

Nice atmosphere and the menu is mix of modern and traditional french food! I eat a delicious goat cheese and beats, also the steak frites. I have high expectations with meat and thought it was really good.

Nice little French bistro on Atlantic. Best to make reservations as was a bit crowded, but was able to get a seat at the front window (spring it would be nice, winter it was a bit drafty)

This place is hands down one of my favorite spots in downtown Brooklyn. Not only has it always been so consistent and delicious, but the warm environment always makes me feel like I’m at home. Whether it’s brunch, where you are given a comforting, energizing welcome and experience, or dinner which gives the best balance of date night or group dinner energy, you just can’t go wrong. The ambiance tells enough of the story, and if you’re looking for a cool person to talk to - T is there most nights behind the bar and really just makes the evening even better. 10/10

Alan

They roped me in when I saw foie gras on the menu. It was so good that I had to go back a second night for another portion. Had the snails, short ribs, duck, and salmon. All were perfectly cooked. Don’t forget the dessert. For me crème brûlée or, if you are into chocolate, the mousse. Certainly leave room for dessert Wish they had a better, more extensive wine list but they did have some good French champagne at a reasonable price. Definitely worth the price of admission. Make a reservation.

Good for lunch with bottomless coffee. The crispy chicken sandwich was solid, though the bun can be less sad. Came with good shoestring fries and mini salad.

A cute, cozy restaurant with (mostly) French food that was delicious! Portions were perfect for sharing-- it was 4 of us for my mom's birthday dinner. We actually got all the specials that the server listed (which I *never* do!) because they all sounded so good, and we were not disappointed! The carrot ginger soup (a special) was amazing and the French onion soup was great, too. Escargot was good, slightly too chewy for my taste. The branzino with mushrooms and bok choy in dashi broth was phenomenal! (Another special) And the last special, the pistachio risotto was amazing! Duck breast with barley was very good, as per my brother. And for the dessert, we got the floating meringue with almonds, salted caramel sauce, and a cream sauce. It was divine! Would definitely come back here and try the other food and desserts!

We've been here 10 times already and I keep forgetting to leave a review. It's weird to write something when you come back to the same place all the time. It happened few times that some dishes were not so good, but as a rule - the food is very decent and tasty. My favorites are always paté and tartare. Excellent cocktails and most importantly, pleasant service. Another little secret, if you're here around 9 or 11 p.m., you can get into their speakeasy bar downstairs, where you can see a 5-minute burlesque show.

We had an amazing brunch experience at Chez Moi! The Croque Madame, Egg White Frittata, Homemade Scones and cappuccino were all delicious. The service was great, and the prices were fair for the quality. The cozy and tasteful atmosphere made it even better. We definitely plan to return!

I’ll give the food 4.3 overall, but added to 5 because of their people and the space! 🥪Croque Madame was the one that I’ll definitely recommend. They cooked well. The edge was crispy, egg yolk was running on it, and the cheese was melting beautifully inside. The side dish crispy potato was delicious too. 🇫🇷The French toast was classic. Not a must but good to try. 🧈The scone was more like a biscuit since it was kinda fluffy and flaky instead of a solid-crumbling texture. Staff were super nice and the place was really chill.

Great spot for brunch, though the menu is limited but all great choices! The pancake with banana and walnut syrup was great. The smoke ham is fairly large. Both indoor and outdoor seatings are great, but the outdoor seats aren't exactly spaced out.

A great neighborhood staple focused on casual French cuisine. In a time where every restaurant seems to be raising prices, chez moi offers a great value and a variety of great French staples in a relaxed atmosphere. Most of their main dishes are really solid - the lamb, salmon, duck, and chicken are all really recommended. Come for: a relaxed spot with good food on a weekday Favorites: lamb couscous, mussels, croquettes Watch out: can be a bit drafty if you're by the door and it's winter

Literally my favorite place in all of the downtown Brooklynish area. Cocktails are amazing! Food is good. The waiters are really nice too. The 2nd time I went there weeks later my waitress remembered me and what I ordered and was able to help me pick something new to try. Only giving 4 stars bc their bathroom could use some upkeep.

We had a nice dinner here with decent cocktails. The escargots were the best dish we tried. We also had the steak tartare and the mussels. For dessert we had the tartin, which I would pass on next time. While everything was enjoyable, nothing was outstanding. If you're looking for a nice French spot, this fits the bill. The setting is cute and the service was good. We had reservations and didn't have to wait. The place was pretty busy so reservations are probably a must.

b

The food was delicious. I had the goat cheese and beet salad with the cauliflower gratin. Both were tasty. The service was weird all night. I assumed that it was because she was busy, but I watched other tables get drinks and dessert while we were left alone until we flagged her down. The food is pricey. I don't mind paying more for a good meal, but the service has to match.

Came here for a night cap during the middle of the week. Cute restaurant, dimly lit and romantic. Liked our drinks. I got the absinthe frappe which tasted like a licorice mojito. Tried escargot for the first time and it was alright but the green sauce that they put on top of it was amazing. Glad I went. I plan to go again in a few days to try more food and to go to speakeasy for burlesque show

the interior of this place is pretty and cozy. went for brunch and the egg white frittata and bacon were delicious. the Quiche Lorraine was flavorful but the crust was a little soggy. we wanted something sweet and also had the nutella crepes - which were decent. one of the waitresses we had with the short hair felt very rushed, but the other was kind. overall I recommend and would go back

Nice little french restaurant with a penchant for witty details. The waiters were very kind and attentive. In the back there are small tables where u almost feel like u’r in paris. Food is available at 5pm, we had a relaxed sunday brunch at 3pm. The hamburger was really tasty and the fries were excellent « frenchish ». The crepe needs a bit more work, but good enough for nyc. check out the bathroom wallpaper😉

Waited 30 min for our 8pm reservation. Server was great, food was pretty but my skate fish needed something else to balance the level of acid and when it arrived my mashed potatoes were already cold. Escargot was the highlight.

We went to Chez Moi for Sunday brunch the day after Valentine’s Day as a group of five, including a one-year-old. The staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, especially in arranging our table with a high chair for the baby, which we truly appreciated. The brunch selections were excellent overall. Two of us ordered the steak and eggs, one had the lobster eggs Benedict (the day’s special), another chose the grits, and I ordered the savory crepe. Everyone was very satisfied with their meals. Unfortunately, my crepe fell short—it was a bit dry (which is unusual) and lacked flavor. I’m hoping this was just a one-off, as the overall experience and service were lovely. I would certainly return for another brunch soon.

Nice atmosphere but a bit tired and could use some refresh. Had dinner with another couple. Every one was happy with their dinners. My wife had a fish dinner that she said was great. I had a soup and a salad. Cocktails were nice Can't say it knocked my socks off. Great value.

Cute French restaurant but brunch is mostly American style. We got croque madame and crispy chicken sandwich. Both came with side of salad. The croque madame was served with a side of crispy potatoes and sandwich came with French fries. Staff was friendly and helpful since we had a lot of questions.

The atmosphere is nice and the food is mostly good. I liked the french onion soup and escargot. The cheese board was not very good, nor was the ratatouille. Nice spot to eat at if you're in the area, otherwise probably not worth venturing to just to dine here.

Walked in for brunch without reservations. It was busy for a Saturday morning. A few of us were waiting to be acknowledged. Being a single diner I was seated at the bar as that was the only available seat. I ended up with a burger which was pretty decent. The drink from the bartender was refreshing and he was nice. There was outdoor and indoor seating. Just be prepared to wait to be acknowledged. They were short staffed.

i thought chez moi was fine. the waiter was very particular about when and how we ordered (cocktails first and alone, appetizers alone "because the chef doesn't like to receive all the information at once"). it was a bit bizarre. the smoked salmon salad was delicious but the steak and fish entrees were ordinary. we won't be back.

I really wanted to like this place, just want to start by saying the escargots appetizer is delicious. The service was slow .where I sat was near the kitchen, the waiter kept bumping my elbow.table are too small. My wine glass was filthy. Definitely won’t go back.

I can’t decide if I like this place. The first time, the food was good, the service was good, but we were stuck in this awkward 2-top table outside the kitchen where you get nudged by passing people or locked in one place. The second time, the food was ok, but the service was subpar. Somehow we ended up at the same table. The waiter brought our drinks after a while, then we waited forever to order food. I had to ask about the specials. Midway through our meal, we ordered another round of drinks. He took the order and left the empty glasses on the crowded table. He brought the next round of drinks, and it looked like he was going to turn away, so I politely said, “Can you please take these glasses with you?” And he replied that he “knew how to do his job” in the most pretentious way. Quite frankly, he hadn’t indicated to us at all that he knew how to do his job. My boyfriend sat for a while with a bowl of leftover mussels sauce and it was a food runner who thought to ask if he wanted bread, which he promptly brought. There are plenty of other decent French places in Brooklyn at this price point.

We sat down for dinner for a reservation at 6 pm. I ordered a cocktail; they were out of one of the ingredients, so no cocktail. I then ordered a glass of the Pinot Noir, they were out of the Pinot. Remember, this is at 6 pm. I then ordered a tempranillo, which they did have. We ordered escargot, french onion soup and 2 steak fries, both medium rare/ one leaning towards rare. The appetizers were good, not great but above average. The steaks arrived. One was well done, the other medium/well done. They were dry and blan. My wife returned hers; I ate mine. They offered to bring her a new plate, which she declined. The only salvation was the sauce it came with. When I go out to eat a NY strip, specially at a bistro I have certain expectations; it should be better than what I can cook at home and this was not the case here. The steak was like chewing on old leather. The salad was drowning in vinaigrette and was also uneatible. The fries were ok. We ordered a floating island desert which was really good. The atmosphere was great and the service was good. They treated us to the wine.

On Saturday evening I had a reunion with 2 good friends that I hadn’t laid eyes on since well before the pandemic started at Chez Moi. The evening started pleasantly enough. We ate and enjoyed our well-prepared meals. I had one glass of wine, and my companions each had 2 cocktails supplemented with several glasses of water. We paid our checks when in less than 5 minutes after the waitress had scooped up the signed receipts we were told that the hostess needed us to leave. We weren’t being loud or obnoxious because that’s not who we are. There seemed to be an archness between my female companion and the waitress; she asked to please have her cocktail brought with her entrée because she wanted to have food ( the appetizer  ) in her stomach before drinking. That, without explaining why, didn’t seem to sit well with the waitress. At another point during our meal, my female companion took a moment to pause eating having about 2 or 3 bites left on her plate when no less than 4 people came and asked if she was finished; I didn’t understand the rush as the restaurant was less than halfway full, the bar wasn’t crowded and the wait staff was huddled by the bar so they weren’t being rushed off their feet. So when we were told that the hostess “needed” the table it was mystifying. I’d like to give them a little more credit and not assume that it was the fact that the 3 of us were Black ( 2 tall Black men and 1 petite Black woman ) but we were the only POC in the establishment and none of the other patrons we “rushed” to finish eating and then not only asked to leave when we weren’t causing a disturbance and then followed to the door with feigned apologies! My friends were mortified and upset as this was a favourite restaurant of theirs that they frequented and wanted me to experience the gastronomic pleasure they had experienced only to have it marred by this bizarre behaviour. In all my 63 years of living, I have NEVER had such an embarrassing and baseless experience! NEVER! The food was great but not enough for me to return or recommend this establishment to others; who knows what friends or family might experience based on their perceived ethnicities.

Love the host! Very welcoming and a great first impression, unfortunately the experience was significantly marred by the bartender's appalling attitude. His service was genuinely horrendous.

This place was such a letdown! From the moment I walked in, it was clear the layout just didn’t work—so cramped that I was getting bumped constantly, easily 20+ times during the night. It felt like a packed subway, which is not what you want when you’re paying a premium. The food? Just okay. It wasn’t bad, but it didn’t blow me away either—definitely not at a level that matched the price tag. The service was also fine but nothing memorable. What really got me, though, was the lack of decor. It all felt a bit bland, with no real personality or vibe to make it feel like a special night out. For the price they’re charging, I expected way more thought put into the ambiance and experience. Overall, the whole thing felt like a waste. Wouldn’t recommend if you’re looking for a memorable night!

Chez Moi The service was awful. We were seated by Fernando and given menus which he took away immediately without taking our orders. He took our two menus and seated two other diners who had just walked in then proceeds to take their orders. When we asked for the menus back, he rolled his eyes and tossed a. single menu in front of us. Then, he ignored our table (which was in front of the hostess station) for the next 20 minutes and checked on every other table, even though the restaurant was not busy. We finished our drinks that we had placed with the bartender, but didn't wait for the escargot (also placed with the bartender). I hope that it was a coincidence that the only two black patrons in the restaurant yesterday night were made to feel so unwelcome by this one waiter.

The skate fish stank like rotten fish, so intense I wanted to throw up. And expensive.

I ordered only drinks at the bar, but I’ve never encountered such a rude bartender before. The bartender took my order with a frown, then kept making complaining that he couldn’t hear me. It was a really unpleasant experience. It was the evening of January 17th. This photo shows the amount of the cocktail I received before drinking. I mentioned that the drink seemed to have a small amount, but they responded with an annoyed attitude, saying it was just because there was no ice.

I don't know what the criteria is to get sat at a good table in this restaurant, but I obviously don't qualify. I've given this restaurant multiple chances, and for some reason, I always get the worst table in the place. This might not be a problem for others, but I'm tired of it. Will not return.
