Went on a holiday evening. My friend and I had a great time here! Food was delicious and price was fair. 💛✨🫓The appetizer and plate was huge, came with 2 pitas! Seasoning was impressive and diverse. 🧡🎏🎣Salmon kebab was surprisingly good. It was grilled perfectly with crispy edge while the meat was still juicy. The portion was big. Lamb sausage was kinda the same as salmon kebab (sides). It was slightly dry but flavorful. Baklava was fair. Huge piece, tasty, but soggy already.
Service was wonderful; space was cute; food was good. The mezze plate was very tasty — good mix of hummus, baba ghanoush, labneh, chickpeas, and beets salad. Also got the falafel wrap but would skip. I think this place is more known for their meat dishes so will need to come back for dinner. Will be back :)
During a recent visit to Black Iris in Brooklyn with my fiancée, we were warmly welcomed by the entire staff and comfortably seated right away. Adam, the owner, personally helped us navigate the menu to ensure we chose dishes we’d truly enjoy, and the team remained attentive and polite throughout the evening. Our food arrived promptly, and we loved every dish—the mezze plate, the chicken pitza, and dessert were all excellent. The experience delivered on service, atmosphere, and quality from start to finish, earning a full 10/10, and I highly recommend visiting.
Food was great but what I really enjoyed was the atmosphere of the place along with the friendly and well trained staff. The lighting was very moody but still with plenty of brightness to see and enjoy the rest of the restaurant. It felt personal in a way one enjoys when they have booth seating, and the sound level was very comfortable. I sat at the bar where I enjoyed cocktails (highly recommend their Romeo and Juliet while it’s still around) and the bartender Sophia was very accommodating and made sure I was well taken care of by checking in with me despite the number of orders coming in which is all I really ask for when it gets busy. Food came at a perfect time and while I didn’t leave with leftovers I felt really satisfied by the amount of food and drinks. Would absolutely come back to try the rest of their menu <3
We were looking for a dog-friendly restaurant on a Saturday night and stumbled upon this place. The staff, especially our waiter Louis, were very accommodating and found us an outdoor table right away. They were very nice to our dog (and us) the whole time. The Black Iris pitza was delicious. The hummus, and the Juliet and Romeo cocktail were all solid. We'll be back.
A very cozy restaurant with a lovely, homey atmosphere. You instantly feel comfortable here. The food is delicious, especially the lamb — perfectly cooked, tender, and full of flavor. Definitely coming back.
Very stylish restaurant with incredible food - definitely get the za’atar bread to start! Our talented server was able to remember the orders for our table of eight by heart, and made excellent menu recommendations since it was our first time. Would love to return next time we are in NY again!
We ordered the cheese spanakopita and lamb kebab both were delicious The spanakopita was especially good, with so much rich, cheesy flavor The ambiance is excellent too perfect lighting and music at just the right volume, so you can actually talk and enjoy the evening
Mmm really incredible food, fresh, colorful, nutritious, and aesthetically appealing with great service and cozy intimate vibes. The stuffed grape leaves and mezze plate are an absolute must! Everything is incredibly luscious, creamy, flavors are well balanced, and I loved the sweet crunch of pomegranate seeds on top. Dragging warm fresh pita through thick labneh and smoky babaganouj was the highlight of my meal. Lots of vegan/veggie options as well. Don’t miss out on these flavors/textures/tastes!! And obviously get the baklava cheesecake for dessert!
All around excellent dining spot. Service, atmosphere, and the food. Big hearty portions with robust flavor and flavors a lot of Mediterranean restaurants miss.
Very welcoming and friendly. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Decently priced. I love the variety of options. Delicious. They have a nice selection of drinks. You can also ask for non-alcoholic options. Unisex restrooms.
The lentil soup slaps and so does the service. All the waiters have great hair. Need their barber recommendations.
Lovely little indoor/ outdoor space in Fort Greene. We came here for a late drink and then heard about the weekly $13 lunch specials. Delicious Mediterranean options with lentil soup house salad. We will be back.
A friend visiting from out of town and I decided to explore Brooklyn Heights, and what a discovery we made! Upon stepping off the G train, a hidden gem popped up on Google Maps, and it was impossible to resist. Though the restaurant wasn’t fully open yet, Neslie greeted us with such warmth and even offered us prime seating. From that moment, we knew we were in for a treat—and what a food adventure it turned out to be! My friend Nancy ordered the Lamb and Chickpeas, and one bite made me instantly jealous. That dish was absolutely divine—rich, flavorful, and unforgettable. Meanwhile, I went with the Salmon Kebab on Neslie’s recommendation, and wow… just wow. As someone who’s cautious about fish, I was floored by how perfectly seasoned and savory it was. The rice served alongside was the ideal complement. To top it off, I had the Dal Soup, curious to see a Middle Eastern spin on a dish so familiar to me as an Indian. It did not disappoint! Paired with the rice, it was so good I devoured it without a second thought. The pita bread? Completely forgotten—sorry, pita. 😅 It was two hours of pure bliss—great company, an incredible server, and food that left us happily full and satisfied. Thank you to this fantastic spot for such a memorable experience! We’ll be back. 💗
The best Greek restaurant in the city. The amount of hospitality we received from the staff was astonishing. It really felt like we were a family or comrades who’ve know each other for years. The food was out of this world too. Very fresh and tasty. Louis and the bartender are amazing humans. “I’ll see you next week”
Fantastic food and experience! The lamb shanks were incredibly tender and full of flavor—one of the best I’ve had. The mushrooms hummus was rich, creamy, and absolutely delicious. Every dish was beautifully prepared and served hot and fresh. The service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere felt warm and welcoming. I left completely satisfied and already excited to come back. Highly recommend.
Amazing Lebanese food in this cozy restaurant. We tried half the items on the menu and they were all exquisite. What stood out: the hummus with mushrooms, and the lamb shank (which is enough food for 4 if you order appetizers). Good wine selection too. The negative: just after our third course was served, our server informed us “we have a reservation at 8:20 on this table” (which was in 20 minutes; we had placed our drinks order at 6:45 so we thought this was tooooo short). So when you book, confirm that you’re not going to get kicked out.
Came here with my husband and son for dinner and it was amazing! The service and ambiance were great and the flavors of the food are on another level. Our waitress was so pleasant and offered some great recommendations. The falafel was so crispy and creamy at the same time- must try! The standout was the lamb dish. I highly recommend this restaurant!
Adding this to my list of favorite Lebanese spots. Very creative take on traditional Lebanese cuisine - great flavors. The staff were very welcoming and kind, we even got to meet the owners. Everything was amazing but I have to say my favorite thing was the orange blossom ice cream *chefs kiss*
Showed up early to this wonderful restaurant and sat at the bar. Service couldn’t have been nicer - great recommendations, and helpful as I took food to go. The short rib hummus, miso(!) baba ganoush, and bata harra were all fantastic, and exactly as described. The cocktails sublime.
An absolutely hidden gem 💎. The customer service exceeded my expectations. My husband and I loved the food. We had the short rib shwarma with hummus. Aromatic spices fulfilled our senses. The host recommended the fried potatoes with chef spices delicious.cocktails so refreshing well balanced.👍👍👍👍
boutros is a wonderful place for middle eastern food! i had the berry spritz drink, soujouk arayas, and one scoop of turkish coffee ice cream. i can assure you that you will leave this place feeling satisfied! 🌷 food - 5/5 for the berry spritz. it was tangy and i love the blackberry in the side. 5/5 for the soujouk arayas!! I LOVED IT SO MUCHH, however i had mines without soujouk! i imagine it would be good either way. and last but not least, the turkish ice cream. it was very rich in flavor and the dark bits of chocolate on the top adds a good touch! 🌺 service - our server was very kind, helpful, and friendly! atmosphere - i loved the warm lightning and the decor!!
This is a great restaurant and everyone should know that! Had an amazing dinner here with family and we were all impressed by the exceptional meal. The menu includes some surprises in terms of flavor and ingredient combinations. The preparation and presentation were well above all expectations. And a final note about the fantastic mock tails. Try one, you'll not be disappointed.
A group of us went to Boutros for my birthday and we had a fantastic time! We ordered quite a few items off the menu and loved every single thing. For me, the stand out dishes were the mushroom hummus, the half chicken and the fingerling potatoes with toum but honestly I can’t wait to go back to try different things off the menu, as I have full confidence I’ll love them all! We ended our meal with the Mom’s Knafeh. Everything was simply fantastic, the service was attentive without being too much and the atmosphere was just the right amount of lively. 10/10 recommend. This might be our new brunch spot!
Went here with friends for brunch and were genuinely impressed. The menu had a great variety and everything we tried was absolutely delicious - rich Middle Eastern flavors with a modern twist. You can feel the personal touch behind the dishes, like they come from someone’s family kitchen. One highlight was the open kitchen concept - loved watching the chefs in action. The place is lively and clearly popular, and for good reason. We’ll definitely be coming back!
We went for brunch and I was surprised by the extensive Lebanese wine selection, moreover we enjoyed the food beyond expectations. Ordered mushroom hummus, and vegetables crudites, half roasted chicken and the desserts were delicious. I had to come back to try many more dishes that popped up to me in the menu. I had a glass of skin contact wine aka orange wine, my husband had a glass of sparkling viognier and we enjoyed much.
Nice and cozy place to eat! Mezze had some great dips my favorite the labneh and hummus. Was bit underwhelmed with the chickpea salad and beet salad. The lamb sausage on the other hand was full of flavor and had a kick of spice. Very tasty!
I've been waiting so long to try Black Iris, and I finally stopped in for one of their lunch specials. What an amazing deal! The food was fresh, expertly prepared, and absolutely delicious. It's a must-try if you're in the area. My only disappointment? They were out of desserts, which just means I have an excuse to go back!
Baklava cheesecake… are you kidding me?! Flaky, creamy, nutty, unreal. Every bite was rich but balanced, a perfect twist on two classics. Easily one of the most special desserts I’ve had in a long time. If it’s on the menu, don’t even think—just order it. 🍰✨
I was expecting more flavorful food. Mazze platter was under seasoned (baba ghanoosh, hummus, beets) its. 4 star restaurant
Pretty dang good! Especially for the price. But I will say the sandwich was actually a wrap. Even though the menu said sandwich. BUT it was delicious
Went on a Friday night - at 7pm it was not so packed but by 8pm it was a full house! A cute little spot in the neighbourhood. We got the following: Short rib shawarma hummus - yum! I wish it came with more pita. The pita was delicious as well!! Falafel - our waitress told us it is not a traditional kind, it is creamy inside, and it surely is! And we don’t mind it, quite interesting and yummy! Lamb shank - the price tag is high, and it is a tad bit salty but works very well with the cabbage and the mini pita breads! We were so full so we barely ate the lamb and got it to go. The sad part was when we got home, we realised that the restaurant packed the meat but not any of the sauce and cabbage and hummus that we barely touched.:( Drinks are alright - do appreciate a decent pour of the wine!
*VIBES* Lovely restaurant! Great friendly and quick service with a cozy but spacious ambiance. Came here for dinner on a Friday night with a reservation. *FOOD* The mushroom hummus was my favorite, it was nice and garlicky, served with freshly made pita bread. The brussel sprouts were roasted to perfection, but a bit too sweet from the honey. I wouldn’t get the Blue Crab Kousa again, there wasn’t much flavor aside from the mint and the dish was mainly squash. Also got a few drinks but they weren’t too special. Overall would recommend this restaurant mainly for the hummus and nice atmosphere.
The short rib hummus and fatoush are both must tries, no question. However, while the meal started and an incredible high note won those two dishes, the schwarma wrap was poorly constructed and brought the experience down a notch. What should have been a spicy, smoky, savory wrap surrounded by a pillowy soft pita was unfortunately completely over powered by the pickled vegetables to the point where the schwarma wasn’t even detectable. Boutros’ take on falafel was interesting but nothing to write home about. At the end of the day there were some real stand out dishes here, but also some clear misses as well.
Food was great, drinks probably even better, but I feel cheated. We tried many appetizers and all of them tasted great. I was surprised by how good some of them were. Shawarma was okay, they just wasted good ingredients on an unbalanced dish that only sounds good on paper. The meat is too rich and the acidity of vegetables can't cut through all the fat. Their pricing model of the dips felt like a scam. One costs $15 (which is already a lot) and it comes with a single pita. Inevitably you finish your pita before the dip runs out and you are now forced to order more pitas and they are $4 each. Instead of calling it a $19 dip which people would not buy. Instead, they make it seem like you ordered something extra. Unlike most Mediterranean restaurants they don't have dip sets or a "5 pita bundle".
