Opinions de Al-Badawi New York
great vibes, great staff, great food, and so nice to finally have more late night food options on the UES! there’s 20 new giant tvs to watch any game imaginable with game sound for the big games! i don’t eat meat so it’s awesome they have plenty of vegetarian options as well! the mushroom truffle flatbread is to die for and my friends raved about the chicken tenders & wings!
Looking for a local sports bar in the upper east side?? Well you just found one. Killer wings, good vibes, affordable prices, you can’t go wrong going to Mellers. Brunch menu is such a good deal as well, 18.95 with a brunch cocktail of your choice. The breakfast burger was delicious 🤤 & definitely try the Thai chili wings with truffle fries.
I have been a pretty consistent customer in this establishment for the past five months, and I can't say I have experienced anything close to what the negative reviews allude to. All the bartenders, particularly Hailey and Jason, are extremely personable and follow the golden rule of service, so I am always taken care of. The food is quite good for a sports bar, particularly their wings, burgers, and philly. You can watch virtually any game you want, just ask the very friendly owners Rob and Anna to pop it on one of the forty two thousand flat screens in there.
Great spot to grab drinks, bar food, and shoot some pool. The staff is great and friendly.
Great wings. Now they have a pool table and dart board. Over 30 tvs. All sports available. My favorite place to hang. Highly recommend!
We went to Meller’s for brunch and had an amazing meal that came with complimentary drink. They have very good options for brunch - shakshuka, french toast , omelets etc. Everything that we ordered tasted delicious. Our server was very nice and service was quick. Highly recommend trying this place!
Food and drinks are always good, bartenders and waiters/waitresses are always are nice, also great spot to watch the game!
This is me and my boyfriends FAVORITE neighborhood sports bar! The bartenders and servers are all great! The food is great! Their wings are so good and they have a great beer selection. They have so many TVs and play all the games and fights. Big PPV fights are even purchased here to watch and almost all the UFC fights. This is me and my boyfriends GO-TO bar for baseball games, boxing and UFC fights, college and NFL football. It’s just all around great chill atmosphere, neighborhood bar vibe, great food and drink selection and beer! It’s a huge perk they have Guinness on tap.
Update 11/4/22: 4 stars to 5 stars!! Craving wings again one month later.. and they can do naked wings with sauce on the side!!! Last 2 pictures are from the recent order, wings and onion rings Original:9/25/22 Was in the mood for wings and mellers popped up via uber eats and i thought i give them a try The wings itself were really good but the buffalo sauce was slightly salty Idk if they do naked wings but i think naked wings with a buffalo dip wouldve been better for me. Chicken caesar wrap was good too!
Epic spot to play pool, good food and amazing staff! Love this spot. Most welcoming spot in the UES.
This bar never misses. The staff is always friendly, welcoming, and on point. A fun and relaxed atmosphere for drinks and a quick meal. Definitely a go-to spot.
TOP SPOT! Absolutely LOVED Mellers. We came to watched a Premier league game and had a fantastic time. The staff, the drinks, and the food are all fantastic! Highly recommended the calamari and the bloody Mary's 👌 thank you Mellers, you made our Sunday! We will be back!
Single handedly the best chicken tenders around. A great bar to catch any and all sports games with a fun and lively atmosphere. Owner is very kind and friendly. Staff is attentive and the drinks served are always cold. Can stop in anytime and it is a great hang!
Best pool table and darts. Best wings and burgers. My boys come here often to watch sports. Totally recommend. Amazing sports bar and music.
If you’re in search of a nice bar in the UES this is an amazing place! Food was delicious. Great vibe, fantastic service. Special shoutout to Rob for the great service!
Love this local place. good food and drinks. We come here to always catch a game. Had a blast here during the 2024 mets playoff run. If your a sports fan and want a place to hang out this it.
Neighborhood gem. There is something going on every night of the week- trivia, taco Tuesdays, 75 cent wings on Weds, and there’s always good music with a juke box and a pool table. Can’t go wrong. The staff make you feel like you’re at home and the vibes are always good. Anna and Rob aren’t too bad either, I applaud the way they run the place.
Always a very welcoming environment; staff are hospitable, attentive and make you feel like you’re right at home- great vibes here! Watched my first knicks game here! Woohoo, thanks for that experience! Bonus stars for my pup, Bunny always being welcomed here too. The food is delicious, drinks are great, entertainment is offered (pool, darts, etc.) perfect for lunch, a night out, casual hang, or just to stop by and say hi to everyone! Also, great music 🤙 I’ve heard this place is also the go to spot for trivia lovers. Not my cup of tea, but my friends love it! Thank you team at Mellers!
20 Stars! Came here after a long week at my stupid job just to chill, work on my online business and relax. The metal music was on point, and Jason the bartender was super cool — he went above and beyond to customize my drink exactly how I wanted it. Free Wi-Fi, great vibes, killer music. I'm 100% coming back to work, relax, and vibe out. They have big screens playin sports in case you are a fan or Basketball, Bakeball, , sccer, any sports, etc. 20 tvs. Great wings also.
Solid Palestinian food on Atlantic Ave! We got the Ouzi Lamb and Mixed platter kebabs with the lamb chop; and ended with the knafe. Lamb was falling off the bone- the Ouzi Lamb tasted like it was cooked in a Palestinian’s grandmothers home and served fresh - flavors were warm and fragrant!! Kebabs had a ton of flavor; rice was fluffy and the knafe was probably one of the best I’ve had in the city. Service is slow but they are extremely busy! Would love to be back - if you can get a seat, def try it out!
FIREEE Palestinian food. Def need to come back, esp for the knafeh. Service was a little slow tho w/ food - Complimentary pita w/ olives, oil, and seasoning: Warm, fire - Kousa mahshi: Mid, lacked flavor - Mansaf: 11/10, lamb fell right off the bone, and flavor was yummy. Like the soup it came with - Msakhan: 9/10, a little sour, but I really liked all the onions. Chicken itself was tender but tasted like every other rotisserie chicken - Knafeh: 11/10 MUST GET. Best knafeh I’ve had in nyc
Absolutely fantastic Middle Eastern food. We ordered a variety of dishes and every plate was generous, flavorful, and beautifully prepared. The rice dishes were perfectly spiced and topped with toasted nuts, the roasted chicken was tender and deeply seasoned, and the grilled meats were juicy with a great char. The creamy sauces and yogurt-based sides paired perfectly with everything, and even the salad felt fresh and thoughtfully made. Portions are large and ideal for sharing, making it a great spot for a group meal. Everything tasted comforting and authentic, like a home-cooked feast. If you’re looking for rich flavors, hearty plates, and a satisfying dining experience in Brooklyn, Al Badawi is a must-visit.
Excellent middle eastern restaurant. With all the classic dishes like hummus and tabuleh, and good quality shawarma. They don’t have lamb but chicken and beef. Beet salad was excellent. Combination appetizer platter was excellent too - recommend it highly. Overall, a nice experience and great food.
al Badawi was amazing! Our meal was absolutely delicious and the best way to dine here is family style and share everything. Each platter is bountiful and filling. Generous helpings and great flavor. The muhammarah was incredible and the homemade pita was so pillowy soft and warm. Can't recommend enough.
Atmosphere and service was impeccable. Food was good, but not amazing. The salads were fresh and flavorful with the salmon well cooked. The cucumber atmosphere was simple and delicious. The shawarma wrap was well done except for one aspect…. Bell peppers. Why are you putting bell peppers in a shawarma wrap? That’s just not normal and having to pick them out was obnoxious as they were not listed on the menu and I think they ruin the wrap
The real star for me was the oven fired pistachio cheesy bread. Definitely a win! I tried the kefta and was yummy as well, with beautifully cooked basmati rice and side salad. Portions are great and the fresh pita they serve as a starter. Best pita I have had in the US. Atmosphere and service was full of hospitality and a feeling of being welcomed.
We were visiting from MA for the day and decided to try this Palestinian restaurant, what an incredible choice!! Our server, Eric, was so kind and welcoming. The food did take a little time, but we honestly didn’t mind because it gave us a chance to sit, relax, and talk. And when it arrived, it was absolutely worth the wait. Everything tasted so fresh, full of flavor, and was easily 10/10. This is hands down the best restaurant meal I’ve had in a long time. I’m usually disappointed when eating out, but this experience was the exact opposite. Highly recommend!
Most of the tables were reserved but we were able to grab a seat at the bar. The service was decent and they took our orders pretty quickly. The food was good! I got the kefta kabob. Rice was cooked to perfection, soft and fluffy, and the meat was flavorful. I would for sure come back. Their dessert menu looked amazing.
Delicious, beautiful, generous, and so dang tasty. The food is well priced for the quantity (I had enough leftovers for dinner and I only ordered one dish), beautifully presented (like, look at this gorgeousness), and again, delicious. The fresh pita bread was warm and soft and I think the best pita bread I’ve ever had. The chicken was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Whatever dressing they put on the salad was delicious. Everything was fresh, cooked perfectly, and perfectly seasoned. The atmosphere was alive without being overwhelming and the restaurant was just as beautiful as the food. It’s obvious that every detail of this place was chosen with care. It’s been on my list to try for a while and I think will become my go-to place to eat in the UES. They gave me some baklava on the house for dessert and that was just as yummy—warm and syrupy and incredible. Absolutely recommend this hidden gem.

Great vibes for a sports bar. Friendly and attentive bartenders and staff. Food was a little disappointing.
Ordered a couple cocktails - a little too sweet. The chili martini was okay (too sweet). Would definitely just stick to the canned drinks or draft beers next time. Lots of TVs - would come back to watch sports.
Food was delicious. Recommend the mezze plate and lamb chops. Service was overall very good and attentive. Only complaint is with the busers. They were cleaning plates, reaching into and through our hands while we were still eating and packing our food. I asked them to wait and they still continued. Decorations are very thoughtful and nice lighting. Restaurant has lots of people trying to talk over the music. Would not come here if you want to be able to hear each other easily. Also very hot inside during summer months.

The busser was the only pleasant person on staff. Our server seemed annoyed and didn’t even smile once. The food looked delicious but it became cold quickly due to the front door not closing properly. I kept asking them to please close the door repeatedly and was not accommodated. Other patrons had to huddle together to keep warm. I was excited once I arrived and left extremely disappointed ☹️
This restaurant came to my attention through a strong recommendation from a devoted fan, so I made it a point to visit while in New York/Brooklyn. It was fairly busy for a late Sunday lunch or early dinner, which initially seemed promising. Unfortunately, my experience was somewhat disappointing. The first item we attempted to order, laham ajun, was unavailable. The menu felt a bit cluttered and slightly overpriced for what was offered. While the restaurant appeared well-staffed, a noticeable language barrier made communication somewhat difficult. The food itself carried good flavor, though I am uncertain whether it truly represents Palestinian cuisine as advertised—it didn’t quite evoke the familiar tastes I associate with authentic Mediterranean dining. Portion sizes were generous, which was appreciated. The most surprising—and frankly disheartening—moment was when hot tea was served in a Turkish-style china cup poured from a coffee pot. It felt inconsistent with the restaurant’s cultural presentation. Overall, while the visit was underwhelming, I do believe the place deserves a second chance.

We were excited to try this place, but unfortunately our experience was overshadowed by a serious cleanliness issue. Partway through our meal, a mouse started running around right by our table, even going under our legs. When we mentioned it to the waitress, her advice was to “keep flashing your flashlight” to keep it away. The mouse kept running around us, and when the owner/manager(?) came over, he just shrugged and offered no real solution or apology. It really ruined the atmosphere and made us uncomfortable finishing our meal. Disappointing that they didn’t take it more seriously.
Food was ok but I was with a party of 10+ and we were never formally greeted. I couldn’t tell you who our waiter was. Waited over 30 minutes just to get the menus after everyone finished the complimentary bread. The table they had us sitting at was so tight we could barely fit and it was so bitterly cold the entire time despite the heat being on that half the party ate with their winter coats on! Service should have been much better, especially for a party so big.

The owner has an attitude and a discriminatory behavior against me and my friend who were only trying to enjoy our weekend in nyc and play some pool. Says there is a drink minimum just to use to use the pool table and the table is horrible and unplayable.
The food was good overall, but it didn’t really meet my expectations. The Mansaf was too oily for my taste, and the spices didn’t quite balance well — it felt a bit heavy. The cheese manakeesh was also overly oily, and the amount of cheese was too much, which ended up killing my appetite. On the positive side, the atmosphere was nice, and the owner was very friendly and welcoming, which I really appreciated. However, the food itself was not as satisfying as I hoped — mainly because of the excessive oil and overpowering spices. Overall, I’d say the restaurant is a bit overrated when it comes to the food, but the hospitality and service were excellent.
