I chose Mikado to celebrate my fiancee’s birthday, and it was absolutely the right decision. Loved the ambience, food and the service. The team kindly accommodated my order and even surprised us with a yuzu cheescake, candle and a happy birthday song. Such a thoughtful touch! Wonderful service, delicious food, huge portions , and a memorable experience all around. Thank you!!!
What an amazing place. The food is incredible and at great prices. Service and décor are awesome too. The lunch specials are a really good deal… when ordering on seamless they deliver your sushi in these really cute cardboard boxes too. Its mainly just sushi but they have some other options as well like teriyaki and black cod. The sake selection is pretty impressive as well with a lot of carafe/300mL options on the menu perfect for sharing with 2 people. I can’t recommend it highly enough. Only downside for families is that theres no changing table in the restrooms (theres 2 of them). I really liked the o-toro + uni appetizer, thought it was a good deal, you get 4 tuna pieces and 4 uni pieces. Doesnt come with rice but it does come with a nice slightly sweetened soy sauce on the plate (see photos).
Beautiful restaurant in downtown Brooklyn. The fish is excellent quality and the rice is always deliciously seasoned. What sets this place above the rest for me is their dons.
Great deal during happy hour, gone there 3 times now and will go again! Nice staff, they were really on top of it! The music cut out like once but who cares with the affordable yummy food and drinks!
Went after Christmas for dinner. Fresh and delicious sushi and appetizers. If you like green tea must have the green tea ice cream for dessert. Cocktails were well crafted and servers, host offered impeccable and attentive service. Highly recommended.
Mikado was an amazing experience from start to finish. The restaurant is spotless, the staff is incredibly friendly, and the service is fast and attentive. The food is delicious and high-quality, with great options for vegetarians as well — which I truly appreciated! The prices are also very reasonable for everything they offer. I left feeling happy and satisfied. I would definitely recommend Mikado to anyone looking for a great meal and great service
As regulars are Mikado, I guarantee you will have a great experience here. Absolutely great value especially for happy hour and lunch time. I like that you can customize from a hand roll to maki roll. The Sushi is the star of the show, but the drinks, amazing staff, and atmosphere make for a great experience whenever your craving a sushi fix.
We had such a great time at Mikado! I was worried about going with young kids who are picky eaters (9 and 7) The food looked and tasted amazing, the vibe was relaxed and welcoming, and everyone was super friendly. It’s also really kid-friendly — our kids can be tough to please, but they were obsessed. The server even gave them kid chopsticks, which they thought was the coolest thing ever. The food was awesome all around: •Yakitori– tender with a really good sauce. You could tell it was fresh. •Teriyaki chicken– soft, flavorful, and the rice was perfect. •Gyoza – veggie dumplings with great texture. •Maki rolls– California and shrimp tempura rolls were both hits. We also tried the salmon avocado and cucumber avocado! •Yuzu dessert– light, fluffy, and just the right hint of lemon and blueberry. I was really impressed with the flavor and texture and wished the slice was a bit bigger it was so good. We don’t usually eat dessert so that’s saying something. •Matcha pudding- not our thing, but if you’re into matcha, and not so sweet dessert you’ll love it. We’d 100% come back. The kids were already telling our waitress that next time we’re in NYC, **this is the first place we’re going**. Couldn’t have asked for a better dinner with my boys.
Absolutely love how fresh, pleasant and great quality the sushi truly is. And off of the miso soup alone I could be happy. So good omg ! Believe the hype. Had the caviar dumplings 3.5/5 and the 4 rolls for $20 salmon avocado, yuzu scallop, yellowtail scallion and spicy crab 4.5/5. Going to try the one in the city later in the week
We have been in search for a new Japanese goto place and I think we have found it! The decor is very nice and refreshing. Flowers and paint masks add a really nice touch to the atmosphere. The food is amazing! We had gotten there at lunch and they have a lunch menu. I hear the drinks are great! Most come back to try that out another time.
I stopped here by chance as I was running errands in the area. I ordered the premium sushi set. Just for about 60$ total (post-tax and tips), I got a good appetizer dish, a large platter of sushi, and a cute matcha pudding dessert. It turned out to be one of the most enjoyable dinners I've had here. Very good experience for very good price!
Recommend by friend and went there early. Soon the restaurant was full packed with customers and takeout. Amidst perpetual buzz, our sushi haven thrives, bustling with patrons and take-out enthusiasts alike. Every corner teems with the aroma of freshly prepared rolls and the chatter of delighted diners. From intimate tables to hurried take-out counters, the energy is palpable, inviting all to savor the delights of our beloved culinary sanctuary.
I went to Mikado with my mother-in-law and we both loved it. The service was excellent — they were attentive, friendly, and helpful. They brought us hot water in place of cold water without fuss. My favorite dish was the karaage, a must for New Year’s Eve. The hand-rolls come in servings of 4 pieces, perfect for sharing with a small group. I will definitely come back and dine-in, though take-out seems really popular here too.
Interior and the foods are very good. Prices are ok, not too expensive regarding the food quality. The only reason I give up a star is because they only have ONE high chair for the entire restaurant. We ate there with 3 small kids, and they ran out of high chairs because there’s one baby in the restaurant. High chairs are cheap, buy more of them please.
I was pretty excited to try this place out and got a large variety of items but I think the actual sushi I received just was not as good as my expectations. The best item I had was the crispy rice, which was honestly quite good but I thought the experience went a little downhill from there. The actual nigiri sushi I ordered had much more wasabi inside than I would have expected…so much so that it overpowered the flavor of the fish and rice and triggered that harsh “burning” sensation when eating wasabi but with every single bite. It entirely overpowered the entire experience. I also ordered a toro hand roll at the end. For toro, I expected something fatty and delicious but I thought it was the worst item I had all evening. The fish was very cold and it felt like there were little chunks of ice (suggesting that it may have been frozen). Outside of those pieces, the meal was fine but I don’t think I would go back
