Opinions de Daily Press Ocean Hill Brooklyn
I love it here!!! Truly one of coziest, sweetest places in the entirety of New York City. The baristas are all GEMS and they make gem-style good drinks. Amazing that they make space for morning and night people - great evening events that feel open to everyone. I hope this place never changes and never gets eaten by the pretentious minimalist design monster that attacks our community spots.
the hot chocolate I had here today was exactly what I was looking for - I believe it was made with cocoa powder + frothed milk (I asked for almond milk), and minimal sugar (and they have simple syrup you can add). I don't have much of a sweet tooth so this was perfect for me. also the vibes here are great!! lots of tables and good music. I'll be back to do some work on my laptop in the future.
This is a beautiful, quiet coffee shop in a great area. The staff are super friendly, and the vibe is chill - if you like to work from coffee shops like I do, you'll probably find this place to be your new favorite. The drink selection is awesome. They have very creative specials available. The only problem you may run into is parking - there isn't that much available in the area, mostly just some meters.
Go Brooklyn! On my visit to NYC, I had a show in Brooklyn and stopped in for a quick bite at The Daily Press. The atmosphere was cool, small tables and counter service, board games and books lined the shelves. It felt like a the local hangout. The food was great. I had a chicken sandwich that was huge, would rather have had fries instead chips but the sandwich alone was enough.
Baristas are friendly, coffee is good and the food is cooked fresh to order! The person making our food even offered to cut out sandos in half and do half half in our baskets. The portabello sandwich was especially tasty. The playlists are bomb and they display train times on their ticker board for the nearby C train.
Didn’t know what to expect when walking into The Daily Press. I am somewhat familiar with Brooklyn but never this part. Ocean Hill who knew ! I was here for a paint event and was glad I went ! The aesthetic and ambiance were awesome , cool artwork books a coffee bar a regular bar and great places to sit. There was a campaign event going on for a city council seat and so much was going on. It was a microcosm of our city. Black, White, Latino , gay straight you name it our people existing and chilling as one. I am a lifelong NY’er and this place is it . I will be back . I hope to go to another event soon. Met so many cool people in one night , a sign of a special place. Drink prices affordable as well.
This place has such a nice vibe and great coffee. My favorite neighborhood café. I come here to get some work done and just relax. They have WiFi, books, and smooth jazz playing. Their pastries are surprisingly good. They make them fresh every morning. The Almond Croissant is my fave. The coffee is also good. It's a bit pricey but worth it. Overall, my experience here has been pleasant.
Had a great time here today with a friend. A great work environment with plenty of outlets, natural light (even on a rainy day like today), and a great playlist going. Music wasn’t too loud to be distracting. Attached is the cool system they have that displays what the artist and song that is playing (the super cool system is $3.2k avail on MoMa website just fyi). Staff were very helpful and friendly! We got tea + hot chocolate. We also got tacos which were super affordable and yummy. We felt safe as 2 bipoc queer individuals. The gender neutral bathroom was bigger than most nyc bathrooms, and it was clean. I look forward to going back! Also big bonus is that there are some books and many games!!!! I saw cards against humanity, exploding kittens, banana grams, chess, and several more!
Friendliest staff at any café I’ve been to (except Beets Café across the street, lol, they’re on the same level of friendly). Anything you order here is great quality, their coffee and teas are the real deal and the food is great! I enjoy the atmosphere, music and the fact I can sit down and get stuff done if I need to. Everything is reasonably priced.
Very good coffee, espresso and cold brew. Great pastries, nice beer selection for happy hour and a chill vibe overall. One of the first coffee shops in the neighborhood - the space is quintessential Brooklyn charm with reclaimed wood and mismatched chairs - crafted and selected by the owner. Try the Kitten Club coffee - local and incredible! There’s also a lovely outdoor space.

food was awesome, tried the breakfast walking taco. vibes were very homey and cute. iced london fog was v tasty.
I have been going to daily press on and off for about 5 years now and never had a bad experience, I have also recommended this place to many of my friends. Unfortunately for the past 6 months or so I have been having nothing but bad experience with the shop. The google listing states that they are open at 7:30am while their website says 7 am (the sign on the door also states 7:30am) , which I was very happy about since I start work at 8am, and I am able to pick up a quick cup of coffee before work, but every single time I would come after 7:30 am, the lights were on, the staff were inside but the door was locked. First couple of times I dismissed it to human error, I mean who doesn't tend to run late some days, but it has happened every single time I would try coming in there. In addition, the staff members would see me though the door and just ignore me all together, which would have been ok if I came before they opened, but I would arrive way past 7:30 am. I was finally able to grab a coffee (around 8:30am) the other day, and not only the coffee was subpar, 2 people who came after me got their orders first, the barista forgot to give me my pastry, which I had to remind her about it, and the service overall was very bad. I also overheard them making fun of another customer, which is extremely unprofessional to do in an ear shot of other customers. I am not sure what has been going on with the Daily Press lately, but I do recommend them to update their website, and update the hours that reflect when they actually open, and not have staff members openly make fun of customers where other customers can hear them.
The food and coffee were fine, but when you’re one of a million coffee shops you should at least have decent service. The man with the mustache seemed pretty upset about the fact that he had to work at work and begrudgingly interacted with me. Won’t be spending my money here.
I recently visited this coffee shop and unfortunately, the experience was very disappointing from start to finish. Service: The customer service was unacceptable. The server who took my order was unprofessional, dismissive, and even sat down while taking my order, which felt disrespectful. I was not asked about basic preferences, like whether I wanted my coffee hot or iced. Drinks: The barista appeared distracted while making our drinks, paying more attention to other things than the preparation itself. Unsurprisingly, the final product was subpar. The milk tasted either expired or extremely cheap, which completely ruined the drinks. Food: The food was uninspiring and lacked quality. For the price, I expected something elevated, but instead it felt like something anyone could throw together at home. Atmosphere: While the setting itself had potential, the lack of good service overshadowed everything else. The vibe could have worked, but without proper hospitality, it came across as uninviting. Final Thoughts: Overall, this café fell far below expectations. The poor service, careless preparation, and mediocre food made the experience one I wouldn’t recommend. There are plenty of other coffee shops in the area that take pride in their service and products — this is not one of them.
First time in the coffee shop. Horrible staff service, unfriendly, and rude. You can sit at the counter, and no one acknowledges your presence. I was able to order after 20 minutes sitting there. They don’t bring napkins over with the food and yell at you to stand up and look for them when you ask. Food was good and reasonably priced. Unlikely to come back after feeling like a burden by ordering in this place.
I didn't want to do this because I hate giving bad reviews, but I went to this place on a Sunday morning, it was quite a slow morning at the cafe, and the Barista forgot my friend's breakfast burrito. We waited at our table for 15 minutes while they chatted, and we assumed it was taking long because somebody was in the back cooking it. But when I came to the counter and asked where it was, the barista brushed it off and said "just a couple more minutes" and I saw her take it out of the fridge and throw it in the microwave. She didn't even acknowledge that she had forgotten it, nor did she apologize for making us wait. I went back to the table, and then she proceeded to forget about it even after the microwave was done. And once again I had to get up and remind her that we were still waiting, and still she was very dismissive and gave no apology. I'm not an entitled Karen, and I didn't want to say anything nor complain but a little bit of acknowledgement would've been nice. My friend & I left this place with a bad taste in our months about it.
