Opinions de El Barrio Burritos Brooklyn
possibly my new favorite burrito spot. had the tofu jalisco. the chips and guacamole were also 👍
Excellent place for quick bites. New breakfast menu definitely worth a try. Warm and cozy feels!
This is my " not going out and need take out food" Its great delicious comfort food, my fav is the tofu spare rib tip burrito!!!!!!
Friendly staff and their veg short rib special (made from seitan I think) is soooooo good. Would definitely recommend! ☺️
Great burritos and also great customer service. They stand by the quality of their business, which is very much appreciated!
It is a good spot to grab a quick bite. Tried their cheese and shrimp quesadilla and it was very good.
This place has excellent vegan and regular food options.
The burritos always are a hit. I’ve only ordered taken out and delivery. The inside is very small
just had a great burrito but i’m writing the comments because the drink fridge is set at the perfect temperature 👍👍
I come here fairly often and the chicken verde burrito is my go-to. I wish they had pork though...
Fantastic and colorful healthy vegan meals. So good.
Delicious food! The Vegan Mission and Vegan Citrus Rib Burritos are amazing!
11/10 burrito id come here everyday if i could
Quick, filling and delicious burritos, bowls and tacos on Franklin. I’ve ordered from them more times than I can count to eat in the sun on eastern parkway, take to the park for a picnic or take home to enjoy.
This place is the definition of great things come in small packages...small on the outside but this place is packed with flavor and greatness...amazing food seriously I had the steak burrito and will be going back for sure.. i strongly reccomend this place to anyone that feels like having a fiesta in their mouth ..this Mexican greatness makes me break my diet around 3 times a week for lunch.
My go to for burritos on Franklin. One of the few stores actually on grpvyn if you are addicted to seamless and hate that you can't help yourself. I get the Mission burrito, can't go wrong.
Just ordered the blackened spicy chicken naked burrito. Absolutely delicious. Fast delivery. I'd love to get 1 extra lime though :)
delicious, filling, great portions. the chipolte tofu is very tasty! fantastic vegan options :)
Owner is cool; really small spot. Staff is nose-down into the work. Food is fresh to death and only for take-out and delivery.
The Shrimp tacos are soooo good haven’t tried anything else yet 😅
Yummy veggie options and really friendly staff that are eager to please. Enjoyed the chipotle tofu burrito and liked the fresh chips & salsa.
Their food is so good I can write poetry about it. Chips and queso better than a beso. Burrito or a bowl, it makes my heart whole.
Delicious food but the real stand-out thing about this place is how flawlessly and immaculately wrapped their burritos are. It's art.
Great tacos and super friendly! Love their new breakfast menu, always lots of vegetarian options.
Ordered the fish tacos today. They were literally the best fish tacos I've had in a very long time. It was well seasoned with all the extra goodness at no extra charge. To my surprise they had flour tortillas and not the corn ones that I care nothing for. I've finally found my new go to spot for fish tacos. My taste buds were bursting with joy a whole 15 minutes after I ate. Yes I'm going over kill but I have not been able to find any spots in the area that sold good fish tacos.
I always get the mission bay burrito when I come here - I usually say no guac but I forgot to today… I’ll be ordering with guac from now on. I’ve been converted. El Barrio did the impossible bc I have never liked avocado.
I loved my order, I inhaled my food...so no pictures this time. The carnita burrito, it was so juicy and every bite was a joy. Like I was legit sad when I finished. Chips and guac are on point too. The vegan tres leches is pretty good, if you like coconut (which I do).
First burrito I had in NY. Turns out this was ~literally~ the Best tex mex vegan short rib burrito I've ever had. So I will be ordering delivery soon.
Breakfast burritos can not be beat! Try the Chorizo one. With the AM burritos, they're pre-prepped and ready to go, so you can stop in, get what you want, and be on your way within two minutes. They always taste fresh and flavorful and the portions are huge. I also like the salsa choices. So happy to have a breakfast option that isn't a bagel in Crown Heights. Staff is also really friendly and easy to chat with. Happy for such a great local business in the neighborhood!
I visit this place every time I come to Brooklyn. The vegan selection is amazing. No matter what burrito I get, it always is delicious. My favorite though is the grilled veggie burrito. Not a long weight and in my opinion is better than chipotle.
The food is so good and the workers are the absolute sweetest! I couldn’t decide if I wanted chicken or steak and the owner let me try a piece before ordering! Definitely would come again when I visit Brooklyn.
very solid takeout. great neighborhood spot and always very reliable. the people who work there are super nice too!
Great spot for vegetarian and vegan food. The vegan spare rib burrito is a once a week purchase. However, I must not be the only one who thinks so because they run out consistently. Although this sort of gives the spare rib a "MacRib" type allure, and I just keep trying until they have it. Pair it with a Guava Jarrritos and some vegan desserts, and ohhhhh buddy you will love life.
Hands down, best salsa and guacamole. I could put the salsa on everything I eat. I always order some extra! Great portions for the price and the owner really tries to please. Will keep ordering from here!
Very tasty mission style burritos. I always get the vegetarian and I love it every time! I wish they would ask you for your salsa preference, but other than that thumbs up!
Great burrito. Flavorful. Service was nice. The guy serving me said they've had some problems because seamless and grubhub decided to merge, which explains some of the negative reviews. Anyway, perfect and cheaper alternative to the Chipotle juggernaut.
El Barrio is the best place to get great Mexican cuisine on the go. My personal favorite is their chips and guacamole. Its to die for 😋😇 and now they even have chicken vegetable soup! I definitely recommend teling a friend to tell a friend.
The menu is a bit pricey but totally worth it, good quality foods and nice staff. Everything in the burrito has a great taste. Their lunch deals are outta this world!!
The ingredients are very high quality. They did not skimp on the steak, and all the ingredients were fresh. I was extremely happy and will order here again. They were also very quick. The prices are reasonable to other burrito places. I would recommend trying this place
The impeccable taste of their burritos is only outmatched by the kindness of their staff, and speediness of their delivery service. Seriously--we're talking within 15 minutes of placing an order (living about a mile away) I will gladly continue to order from them and recommend them in the future! Wonderful food! Wonderful service!
Great burrito! Mad it was good! Soft tortilla and great fillings! Way way better than Chipotle!!! I’m not really familiar with Mexican food, and I feel like after this one I have new standards for good burritos! Definitely come and try! Quick service! Right next to Franklin Avenue subway station
El Barrio, without fail, is always the fastest delivery of anything I've ordered in Brooklyn and I live a decent distance. I love love love the Vegan Spare Ribs burrito - I probably eat it once a week. My only feedback is the portion sizes could be just a *tad* bigger for the burritos and more toppings in the quesadillas considering the price.
This place is great. They hold true to their claim that they bring Southern California style Mexican food to NYC. Burritos are well wrapped, guac portions are very generous and their habanero salsa is on point. Delivery is fast and the food is delicious and well seasoned. Overall an awesome experience.
I’ve been coming here for 3+ years now and have never had a bad burrito. Incredibly welcoming staff! If you’re not adding the chipotle or diablo hot sauces, you are missing out big time. Very hard for me to pick anywhere else for lunch.
Amazing place! Walked in on a Saturday afternoon, not too busy, and ordered a grilled steak burrito. It comes on flour tortilla with rice beans (black or refried), lettuce, and pico de Gallo. Super small establishment with a few seats but this burrito is so good! Definitely stopping by / ordering again soon.
Vegan “short ribs” burrito was incredible. Best tex-mex I’ve had in NYC. Very quick and service was great. You can do call-in, order online, or walk-in. For walk-in, the cashier is located way at the back (about 15 ft away) and they have a card reader up front, which is nice for everyone to feel safer. Thank you all!
Went there for the first time today and had such a great impression that I wanted to leave a review. I went in for breakfast burritos for me and my partner and the staff working there were very helpful. My partner likes things spicier than I do and they were super helpful in describing the different spice levels and figuring out what would best fit our tastes. They were super friendly and speedy. The burritos were absolutely delicious and my partner loved the coffee (which stayed super hot on my walk to the apartment, watch your hands!!!). Definitely one of the best experiences I've had with a restaurant in awhile and I will 100% be back. Highly recommended!
Delicious burritos with lots of options and ways to customize them! Quick service too. Limited seated inside so we ate at one of the tables on the front sidewalk. Very nice lunch!
reliably good. great chicken burrito. the vegan seitan is really good too
Great food . I have been going since they have opened up. Great tacos. Great food in general. Umm come early afternoon. After a certain time they are always out of steak or shrimp. So please come down today and have a great cinco de mayo.. yeahh
After walking by a few times, I decided to pop in for dinner. The Grilled Chicken Bay burrito (Chicken, Rice, Beans, Cheese, Guacamole, Sour Cream & Salsa) was good-smelling and good tasting. The chicken was tasty and well-seasoned, and there was plenty o' sour cream. The staff honored my request to get the guacamole on the side, and answered my questions patiently. The menu (available online, in case you want to check it out before going) has several options, I'll be sure to work my way through the list! Takeout only. No tables. Delivery is available.
Good spot. Good food and consistent. Reasonable prices for portion sizes.
There are better options around. The queso is akin to ballpark nacho sauce. Staff is really nice and portions are big.
Please learn how to wrap burritos. Second time here and evrything is just spilling out, there's no point of me getting a burrito if I have to use a fork.
Got burritos and the flavor was great, but gave me mild food poisoning.
Great burritos but my orders have been wrong or stuff left off each of the past 3 times we’ve ordered takeout. Understandable on occasion but now it is just about every time.
Good sized portion and good service, but the food was disappointing. Had a spicy chicken burrito that didn't have much spice or chicken. Chikka on Nostrand or Domo Taco up Franklin are better spiced and more generous with the meat.
Super tight place, not what I expected it to be but the food was delicious. Being with my friends and the only vegan we all had something that hit the spot!
Not bad. Don't expect to get your Mexican fix. The queso is more akin to the jarred stuff.
EDIT: One out of three times that you order from this place they will forget something. It’s usually chips or the salsa or both. I originally did not complain about it because they’ve always done the right thing and either brought me the item or refunded me for the chips and salsa. Once again, they forgot the chips, I gave them the option to deliver me the chips or refund me the chips and salsa (The salsa is useless without the chips). This time, they decided to be cheap and only refunded $1.50. I explained that I order from there twice a week, but the lady on the phone insinuated that I’m just trying to get free food. So not only have they raised their prices in the past few months but the service has also gone down hill. #sad **original post** I come here for the quesadillas and the salsa. Both are easily the best in the neighborhood. I’m not sure why the other places can’t figure out how to simply make a good quesadilla. A bonus is that this place also has the best prices.
5 stars if you go in person. They charge more money for their burritos on seamless AND a delivery fee. Ends up being $20 if you order a single steak burrito with a 15% tip to delivery person. They shouldn't be charging more on Seamless for their menu items AND charging a delivery fee. #moneygrab
I'm going to give 3 stars bc I know what it is like to have a business and receive one start reviews. But the burrito I ordered was arguably the worst I ever had. So little taste if I didn't have any other food before I'd go get a covid test and im not trying to be funny. Used half a bottle of hot sauce to make it through lol. Sad bc the guac in it tasted decent but the rest was very bland and especially the tortia it was more like shawarma wrap. I'd maybe give it a try in person but for delivery not again
Second time here. The rice kind of blows, it’s pretty flavorless, and as other comments noted they really fill the burrito with the rice. Our order was messed up twice. I would however come back and try a burrito with no rice or lettuce, because their meats and salsas are pretty solid.
I have had el barrio quite a few times and the food is good. But literally walked to get a burrito “bowl” and am disappointed by the ratio of portions. There is literally like the smallest portion of beans to rice and then the bowl isn’t even full. For $13.49 for a burrito bowl, I would hope they would feel up the container. It was also cold (I did takeout) after like a 7 minute walk back home. The staff was friendly and pleasant.
i like the place but the new girl keeps getting my order wrong, happened 3 times now. Will likely stop coming back if it happens again.
Food is pretty decent I enjoyed the crispy tortillas and cheesy sauce on their nachos but the chicken was a little dry. Definitely more American style in the food they served. I'd consider it an upscaled taco bell and I like taco bell.
The combination of extremely loud music and genuinely bad food make this place worth avoiding
The food is alright. But when talking about Mexican food, it was a let down. The carnitas felt way to sweet. Overall, if you’re looking to get American-Mexican food, then this is the place I guess. Good Mexican good is found elsewhere.
First time was good, second time I noticed they pre-make the burritos and leave em in the fridge. Hence the weird cold spots in mine. Big mistake, no good.
What a horrible and confusing menu. You have to choose between their preset combination of toppings, adding any additional is a dollar per topping, and their bowl prices don’t count the meat you add to them. So for example for 10.99 you can get the Mission Bay Burrito. But all that pays for is the shell, rice, beans, shredded cheese, guac, and lettuce. If you wanted Pico, corn, and a protein it’ll be $17+. Just makes no sense. Not to mention the “Lunch Combo” doesn’t actually include chips and a drink it just reduces the cost of adding them on. Which is not clearly stated. Very bizarre. It’s like they’ve never ordered a burrito anywhere before. Don’t give your customers useless prices that are meaningless. Customers know what they want at a burrito place, they don’t want to have to squeeze into your boxes and pay extra for pico de gallo. (the cheapest thing on the planet to make) There’s just way too much going on. There don’t need to be 6 recipes of each. There should be a build your own option clearly stated for each format you serve
For $13, I would expect a decent sized burrito. I've had tamales that were fatter than the ones I got. It's very disappointing to be let down every time I order from them. Sad thing is that it wasn't even that flavorful. It's cheaper and tastier to make my own.
their menu says that their burritos are BIG. but if you have ever had a burrito in SF Mission District the one here are half the size but the same price. The folks behind the counter are plenty nice though.
Used to be one of our go-to spots for takeout but they have gone way downhill. Stopped giving chips with every order AND increased the prices. Also stoped packaging burritos in a good way for takeout, and food is cold making us think they have stated pre-prepping food. We will be checking out other burrito options in the neighborhood instead
This was really disappointing for a $15 burrito. I ordered the chicken bay burrito and it was cooked pretty quickly, in about 5 minutes. But when I started eating it, I noticed the avocado was spoiled and bitter. The burrito was like 80% rice and no flavor even though I added hot sauce and jalapeños. It’s a never again for me.
I hate to leave a bad review because the staff were wonderful, but I am from SoCal and came here specifically because they advertise SoCal style Mexican food - I can forgive and was expecting it to be a bit inauthentic, but what I wasn’t expecting was for it to be completely cold by the time I walked home 5 mins (similar to another review) and the guacamole to be completely brown (the colors in the photo are not altered). Everything tasted a bit spoiled to be honest :(
Honestly atrocious. Food was GNARLY. one of the worst tacos I’ve ever had. And cost $5 each.
Very bad Mexican food! Do not waist your time! I had a soup and chicken chilly ,I think the soup was a CAMPBLE can soup heated up , I cant even describe the chilly how bad it was .
I came in to order. The girl behind the counter said she couldn't take my order come back later. I sat in the car and saw a lady sitting outside and received her order. I went back in the counter girl was very disrespectful 😒 .
This place upsold me on a protein that wasn’t even on the menu and the person didn’t even tell me, maybe it’s my fault but leaves a bad taste in my mouth
I was very disappointed. Service and the wait staff took over an hour and a half just to bring my drinks and appetizers. I asked for bread they never brought bread... After waiting an hour and a half for my food the food came back cold. I spoke to the owner and he blamed it on it was too crowded. I told him I'm leaving without paying and I left.. Place needs a lot of work!!!!!
Definitely the worst tacos I have ever had. 2 tacos for 15$ I’d rather pay 15$ just to remain hungry then eat these again.
The quesadilla was a joke! I agree with erwin fritzl. Who mixes guac and sour cream together!! You want quesadilla learn how to make them at home. You’ll save money that way.
Use to come here a lot until COVID came back today and paid $60.00 for 5 tacos.3 soft steak and 2 crunchy grilled chicken.I’m not sure how to feel
The service was terrible and the owner is a horrible man. I made a simple mistake with my order and he did not have compassion to even correct the order. The food is bland with no taste and way too expensive. CHIPOTLE is way better!
Made a delivery order for chili, grilled chicken soft shell tacos, and a chili burrito. I made this order around 9 and didn't receive my items until 10:40. When the food FINALLY came, they forgot the burrito. When I called them (for the fourth time) to let them know they forgot, the second delivery took another 30 minutes. The chips were so stale, the chili was way too chunky and gooey and the tacos were average. on top of all that, they didn't even include napkins or utensils. Do not eat here.
I ordered the nachos and it was really below average. First of all, the cheese and everything else was cold -_-.. there was too much salsa for my liking and the cheese sauce was watered down 👎👎. Wouldn’t recommend going here
Ordered the Philly burrito, Warning: contrary to common belief when it comes to food, this Philly burrito ain't got no steak. no meat at all actually very disappointing at a $15 price point to be served rice and veggies in a wrap is not cool😎
I usually don’t write negative reviews but this was so disappointing. Like other reviewers i found the ingredients proportions ridiculously off. I ordered a bean and cheese burrito. What i received was a burrito filled to the brim with rice and one tablespoon of refried beans a little bit of melted cheese. But nearly every bite was just tortilla and rice. Beans are not that expensive. This is a scam - the photo online showed a burrito packed with beans and cheese- but all i got was rice.
Placed an order for pickup and went in to get it. Was greeted by the guy at the counter, and I said hello back. I started to explain I was there to pickup an order, when I saw my name on a bag in the heating box on the customers side of the counter. Reached in and grabbed my order to then immediately be berated for no less than 30 seconds on my mistake of opening the heating box. Was pressed on why I don’t read signs (one label on the top corner saying not to open the box), questioned on whether I have my OSHA food certification, and questioned about my spacial awareness. He then said seeya as I walked out, as if I would ever step foot in the place again. Whoever was working the counter should not be in the hospitality industry as they are the least bit hospitable. Food has been barely serviceable both times I have ordered from here. I tipped ahead of time just to be demeaned.
