Opinions de Grand Canyon Brooklyn
We really like this restaurant. It was so cute and had like a family Japanese atmosphere. We got the fiesta roll., nikka roll, crispy duck lunchbox special, and some sashimi and sushi. Everything was so fresh and delicious. The service was really nice and attentive. My favorite part of the ambiance was the beautiful carafe for sake. For Park Slope, I was blown away with their prices/value. Soft drink was only $2 and you could get a REALLY good sized meal and a beverage for under $20!
Food is okie but not the top quality. We ordered spicy tuna combo and spider roll which are really so so. Spider roll is barely the side of a regular sized roll. I enjoy the eel hand roll thou. Truly they can work on getting better quality fish and food. Service is nice. They are friendly and quick. Nothing to improve there except a little more attentive. Ambiance can add a little updating. The table is not comfortable as well as the chairs. Again quick dinner spot and right price.
Yamato means big on English, besides big. it keeps up with the name, in another note, the octopus has this lime essence 👌. Enjoy
Decided to order in as a weekend treat and try a new restaurant in my neighborhood! This was some of the best sushi I’ve had in a long time. Everything was fresh. Good quality fish. And my order was delivered in less than 30 minutes! Yamato will officially be my new go-to local sushi spot. P.s. How cute is the soy sauce dish that they sent?!
Serving sizes and pricing was very generous! Staff were friendly, attentive, and quick. Their lunchbox special is something I hope they keep around!
My friend invited me to dine at Yamato. Both the food and service were excellent. The owner and waitress were very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a hidden gem and the best in the neighborhood.
Best Yaki Udon I had in NYC and I ate Yaki Udon at over 100 restaurants. The service is impeccable and very friendly. This is also one of the most affordable places for lunch special I have been to.
Fish was super fresh and really high quality, plated differently and equally pretty every time I go Staff were very nice and polite, I'm not a fan of these fancy sit down restaurants but even going in after school or work looking like an absolute mess didn't feel like I was being judged or anything. Don't love the seating but it's mostly awkwardness bc it's a very open space & I go alone. Very few people around when I've gone Spent $40 including >20% tip for the dinner size sushi and sashimi platter with miso soup every time I've been. As a pretty big guy its a good size, I haven't had more than a couple small snacks food-wise before I go for lunch there & I'm completely full after eating there. I know they have a lunch version that's less than half the price but it has smaller portions so I haven't gotten it Absolutely luv this place food is so good and not outrageously expensive. Spoiling me sushi-wise & now I eat here so often most other places are just disappointing.
This is the first time I’ve eaten Japanese and I loved it! I’m sure my meal wasn’t as adventurous or authentically Japanese as it could have been but I’m very restrictive in my choices. I don’t like trying new foods so I tend to go safe with meats, textures and flavors that are familiar to me. With that being said I had the curry chicken which was amazing! It’s made with coconut milk, juicy slices of mango, potatoes, string beans, bell peppers onions. It’s really the best thing I’ve ever had. It IS a bit spicy, so I added a bit of extra coconut milk to tone it down for my husband and son. I do t know what dress they use on their sale but I love it. The spring roll is a little bready for my taste but again the dipping sauce is perfect. The brown rice that comes with the meal is complimentary. The only thing I didn’t like was the miso soup. I couldn’t get past the smell, and it really didn’t taste good. So in the future I will opt out of the soup.
I ordered takeout and the service was great. They even offered me water as I waited for my food. When I finally got to indulge in the food, it was SO good. Loved it! I'll be back again! P.S. The picture doesn't do it enough justice but it was amazing! 👌🏽
The food was great, prices are decent and the service was very good. The waiter was very friendly and funny. We had a great time and there was not one thing we didn't like.
Such a lovely place for sushi, sashimi, noodles, and rice dishes. Eat in, or take out, it’s equally good. I especially love the pineapple rice with chicken. So delicious.
Sit in the backyard! The service was great, super nice waiter. The food was so good. Get the blue fin sushi! It was about $7 market price the day i went, but had to try to and it did not dissapoint.
We had a variety of things from Sushi to Curry chicken and everything was amazing! And beautifully plated.
Great sushi at an appropriate price point. I loved the tuna pieces, nice fatty flavour that melts in your mouth. Me and my group also had some sake, that the waiter recommended, to go with the sushi. It was a delicious pairing. The waiter also made sure we always had what we needed, it was great service.
Service is lovely and prices are very reasonable. Fresh, clean, tasty food. It’s a great place also for a calm dinner you can bring a book and stay a while and nobody bothers. One of the few places that still care about people and good service and not just rushing people through as quickly as possible for as little as possible!
In the area looking for a place to eat dinner but decided to stop in Grand Canyon for breakfast dinner instead. Super happy we decided to come here. Food was delicious and even the coffee was good ! Staff was so nice and very attentive ! Definitely will be back when we're in the neighborhood !
We go Sunday mornings for relaxed breakfast. Have tried several of the generous b.fast offerings..all tasty..and coffee is usually topped off. We have looked at the dinner items and will most probably come by when the weather warms up. Staff welcoming
i literally love this place i couldn't say enough good things about it if i tried! they're so nice and friendly to you as soon as you walk in, it always puts a smile on my face i feel like family. i always get an omelette and it's one of my fav omelette in the city, no frills diner style, not dry at all, and comes with really yummy home fries with onions and peppers. the portions are pretty big but priced very reasonably and it's wayyyy better than the diner across the street
Most pleasant diner experience you’ll find in Brooklyn Heights. Clark Street is bright, Montague Diner has overpriced cache, and Grand Canyon has the fastest, most kind service with equally if not better food. They really aim to make you happy. Love their Healthy Breakfast Wrap - just the right amount of everything!
This is always a must-visit restaurant whenever I’m in NY. I usually stop in for breakfast, but this time I tried the vibe salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The restaurant is nestled in a cool little neighborhood downtown, offering a variety of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Definitely a top choice
I had to change my review. This place is so good that, I came in on a Sunday to eat with friends. The fries are to die for.. the service is pretty good, the dining area is really nice and the bathrooms are clean. I totally recommend this spot. It’s becoming one of my go to spots after coming here like over fifteen times.
Great lunch specials! Excellent price for the amount of food and quality. Pretty empty on a weekday and easily assumed to be closed from the looks. Owner said they’ve been around for 20+ years, must be doing something right to stick around for so long and keep the prices low.
Welcoming servers. Food was good. Wabted the Crispy chicken to be more crispy though. I've been going there since I was a kid. Place is always clean, good food, good people, great service. Will be going back again soon.
Great diner on Montague. Don’t sleep on the Mexican menu. Their chips are homemade and come out fresh with equally delicious and homemade guacamole. Great place to bring kids for an early dinner.
Saturday at lunchtime is crazyyyy busy and you’ll need to go with plenty of time to enjoy your food. Tight seating tables but servers were running ragged as it was seriously a hot spot to eat! Menu is HUGE! Some of our food was really hot, others not so much but you get a TON of food and all was very good. No complaints basically and we’d def will go again.
Decent Japanese food! It felt the servers were hovering quite a bit and watching me, which may have been caused by them being fairly empty on a Friday night without enough to do. Nothing really stood out besides that the location is convenient.
The food is great I come to this location at least once a month, the buger is always a hit. I do enjoy the brunch, avocado toast. The bread was overtoasted, if you are a foodie like me.You look around to see what others are eating. And everybody's plate look amazing from burgers to salad to pasta even mexican cuisine.I've seen guest eating. I'll come back..
Went to this restaurant late at night and wasn’t too busy. I got the burrito and it was honestly just alright. The rice was good but the chicken was kind of bland. Pretty good size burrito though. It was about $20 so very overpriced for what you get. I wouldn’t recommend coming here unless there’s a specific food they have that other restaurants don’t have nearby.
I had a burrito here before which was good. Today I had a breakfast wrap which wasn’t tasty, tortilla was extremely greasy, and I felt sick mid breakfast, which makes me not want to return. It’s also very overpriced for what it is.
This is for a take out order. I'm pretty easy to please but I was looking for comfort food and ordered a patty melt and disco fries. This order was inedible- soggy, greasy bread, tasteless meat and disgusting fries. If I had been to see I would have refused it. Know how to send food hot and crisp, not soggy and falling apart and swimming in grease. Love the owners but do better. Gross!
Will never order from this place again. Ordered delivery and the shake down for a certain cash tip was insane. Did not give me cash back that I requested- just what HE thought he deserved. Sorry tip is NOT required- and if someone ASKS for a certain amount back YOU GIVE IT
Today, Sunday January 18, 2026 would have been my third time coming here. I arrived here at 3:30pm, but I really don't know what changed. The hostess set me at a table, at first she had the menu on the table but picked it back up. So I'm like ok that's strange, when I sat down I took the menu from the empty table next to me. Now the place only had 5 tables filled, so it wasn't many people. I was waiting very patiently, quietly, and the waiter who gave me water never took my order. The other waiters walked passed me three times and actually looked at my table. One of them took the person's order on the opposite side of me. It's been about 20 minutes waiting at the table and no one took my order. I was very confused and baffled that I actually got up and left. When I was putting on my coat the two waiters was at the bar whispering and looking at me. Very unprofessional and uncomfortable. Anyway so as I left I said "thank you for your service, no one came to serve me". One of them had the nerve to say "I'm sorry". I'm a black African American women, and I felt these two male Hispanic waiters were very racist. It's sad because when I came here twice they were nicer. But now I am so disgusted and I hope the owner sees this and can solve this. Because their behavior was unacceptable. I felt so violated, this is a restaurant and customers shouldn't be treated like that.
