Opinions de Hummus Market Brooklyn
The Eggplant Carpacio is amazing. The Hummus was creamy with olive oil added to add taste. Nicely done. The chicken was fabulous. Great back room. Fantastic place. Highly recommended.
Amazing setting.. experienced humans running this place.. food phenomenal, drinks that bring nostalgia, and an energy that makes you stay. Great experience will definitely visit again.
Moroccan eggplants, roasted cauliflower, falafel, hummus, pita bread…. everything is delicious. The Moroccan cigar is a very interesting appetizer, lightly fried spring roll stuffed with mushroom and eggplant. It goes really well with tahini and harissa dipping sauce. Luckily we came on a warm day and was able to enjoy the nice backyard.
My husband and I are from Detroit…Dearborn which is right outside of Detroit has the largest middle eastern population outside the Middle East so I have had some great middle eastern and Mediterranean food. This was by far the best hummus either of us have ever had. We also had chicken shawarma…also fantastic. The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had a lovely vibe. A week later and still talking about how great the food is
Such a neighborhood gem! The food here is incredibly fresh, healthy, seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend the lamb hummus and anything with the shawarma.
A true hidden gem! The service was so quick and friendly and all of our food was delicious. The pita served with our lamb hummus was so light, warm, and fresh. We got the chicken shawarma and the Levantine burger is a MUST try! It was so flavorful and cooked perfectly. This was our second time dining here, and I can’t wait to come back and try more of the menu.
Amazing Israeli food! Our party decided the best falafel in NYC! I almost skipped the labneh because not usually fan and this one was the most amazing one! We have ordered the market mezze which was perfect to share, ordered the garlic hummus and the mushroom hummus with pita, which was served warm and fresh! Dessert was also amazing, the baklava was delicious and the best I have had in such a long time. The cocktail options are unique an delicious! Last but not least the service was amazing! I highly recommend this gem in Williamsburg! Thank you Lina and team for such an amazing service! We will come back!
Full stop the best Bloody Mary in NY. Their special blend is light, spicy and delicious. It is the perfect compliment to every dish on their brunch menu. I’m hesitant to review because batches are made in limited quantities, but these Bloody Mary’s are too good to gate keep.
Previous customers have already outlined why this spot stands out. The pricing respects wallets and dishes are recently prepared. The staff was present when needed. This spot deserves its recognition. This place will get my repeated visits.
We were a large party of 12, and the staff was very accommodating and attentive. We ordered a wide variety of dishes, and everything was of high quality. My personal favorite was the hummus, which was by far the best I’ve ever had. The chicken skewers were a close second; the sauce for the skewers was slightly sweet and slightly spicy. The meat was tender and flavorful. I would definitely recommend coming here to try authentic Mediterranean cuisine.
Food was incredibly delicious, service was lovely. Edwin took such great care of us - we just walked by and after looking at the menu we were convinced to come in and we’re SO HAPPY we did. I’ll definitely be back
Feels like home away from home! The service was great and food was very tasty. The prices are fair compared to the dishes you get. Don’t skip if you’re visiting NYC.
Amazing food and amazing people 10/10
I adore this restaurant. It's everything you could possibly want no matter the season. It's the best kept secret in the neighborhood, so consider yourself lucky to be getting this intel via this review. The ingredients are fresh, the service is warm, they go above and beyond. I took a guest from the other side of the world here, because I wanted to show them the best of New York, which is exactly what this place delivers.
I had a fantastic dining experience, the atmosphere was warm and inviting. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure everything was perfect. The food it was absolutely delicious perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The portion sizes were generous, and the presentation was beautiful. The service was quick, and the overall experience was top notch. Whether you’re looking for a casual dinner or a special night out, I highly recommend this place. I’ll definitely be coming back
Very unique Mediterranean menu with a lot of vegetarian options. And the food in this place is out of world. I’ve tested many different meals, salads and appetizers and never regretted! Staff is also very friendly. In the back of the restaurant there is a small garden which is also really cute. Strongly recommended!!!
Absolutely amazing place! It’s small but has a very elegant atmosphere. The food is incredibly delicious and high-quality, with every detail carefully thought out. The service is flawless — the staff are friendly, attentive, and very professional. With its ambiance and outstanding dishes, this restaurant definitely deserves to be visited again and again. Highly recommended!❤️❤️
If you still haven’t found your best Israeli food restaurant in the entire city, stop searching because that’s the one. Every friend I’ve taken to Hummus Market was AMAZED and we keep coming again and again. Backyard is so beautiful, simple yet there is something about it... I usually have the same feeling about places when owners do care with all their heart. Food is beyond delicious, where do they find the weirdest funniest servers I have no idea but most often there is a small talk taking place that is part of the experience of course. Do not hesitate, just go and enjoy it!
Super tasty&healthy, great service! Came with a couple of friends, who go there all the time, for dinner. We ordered quite a few plates to share. The owner was super nice and sent Prosecco our way 🥂 and once he heard one of my friends finished all the hummus he sent me a small plate to try :) Waiter was super attentive though the restaurant was quite busy. They have some phenomenal vegan dishes like the vegan meatballs and all the yummy salads. It’s a vegetarian spot which is great for me cause I’m always scared to find a wondering piece of meat in my food. Already brought another friend for lunch and she loved it as well. Also try the sweet potato latkes and chocolate balls (not vegan). Looking forward to going back soon 😋
Menu looks appetizing. My husband got shawarma which is a great combo w/ amba tahini and he claims the best shawarma he got around so far. I got Sabich stuffed pita. They have lunch special served with small plates of meze choices. We got labneh and Israeli salad in addition of homemade lemonades. I like the consistency of sauce in every bite. Lemonade was a little bit sugary but fresh. Definetely a come back place for trying more of the menu staff. Also they have a cozy back patio with heaters which is so pretty !
We reserved their back patio for a large dinner party. The food was amazing and service was beyond attentive. Don’t snooze on this place - it’s delicious!
Recently I visited a place in Brooklyn that offers Middle Eastern cuisine in a casual setting. We are all familiar with hummus but they offer quite a variety of food and drink choices. They have indoor and outdoor seating as well as the whole back patio (where I decided to sit). The tables inside are spaced apart accordingly but there are not too many. The seating in the back is actually quite nice and the covering does protect from elements such as rain. At one point I forgot I was outside. I was greeted by a very enthusiastic and polite employee named Jonathan when I arrived. He was packing orders to go as well as taking care of dine in customers. All the staff, including the ones I saw prepping food were all wearing masks and taking proper safety precautions. The menu is available online via their website or through a QR code on the tables. I was originally planning to get a few things to try along with the hummus of course but they have such an extensive offering of things that I have never heard of or have not ordered in a while. So I asked Jonathan for the best recommendations of dishes that represent Hummus Market. He went above and beyond. For the drink, I usually shy away from alcoholic beverages unless I am with a guest or friend. Even though I was dining solo this time, the cocktail menu had some intriguing sounding items. I decided on the "Moroccan" Spiced Gold Rush which consisted of bourbon, spiced honey, lemon and a cinnamon stick. Now onto the food! The first wave consisted of appetizers - Moroccan Cigars (mushroom, eggplant and cilantro "spring rolls" served with tahihi and harissa), Market Mezze 3 (you pick three items out of at least 6 or 7 choices for a set price) consisting of roasted cauliflower, falafel and lebnah along with pitas. The cigars were quite unique and I think I ate those up pretty quickly. The cauliflower and falafel I was familiar with but it was the first time I had heard of or seen labneh. It differs from the yogurt we are all familiar as it is thicker. It worked well as pita spread. The next thing was their hummus, as you cannot go to a place called Hummus Market and not try their signature dish. It was a platter consisting of garlic, tahini, mushroom and white. The pita was definitely utilized for the hummus dipping. For the main entree, Jonathan brought out the chicken schwarma, which was one of their most popular dishes. The chicken fillet is on a bed of tahini and amba with peppers, cilantro and paprika oil. I just stuck with the pitas instead of getting rice. I finished this dish off as well. So tasty but I would recommend to eat it quickly as the chicken tends to dry out fast. You can dip in hummus or labneh as an option. Another dish that he recommended was the Siniya, which is another one of their top dishes. This one consists of roasted vegetables cooked in spicy tomato sauce and baked in tahini. It is topped with warm chickpeas, mint cilantro and pine nut. This is served with rice on the side. This is something I would have normally stayed away from but I am glad that it was recommended for me to try. Very flavorful and a nice dish to have on a cold night. Now for dessert. I was looking at that portion of the menu earlier out of habit. I was almost at my food limit. It was decided that the classic baklava would be one choice (three modest sized pieces of flakey filo and crushed pistachio). So very good. I took some home with me for later. The other dessert that caught my eye was the Chocolate truffles (walnuts and coconut flakes). Jonathan informed me that all desserts were made in house. The chocolate was very rich. As I write this review the memories of all the good food almost make me as sad as looking at an empty plate. My compliments to Mr Idan and his staff who prepared all the food and came out at one point to check on me and bring out the food. If you get a chance to travel to that part of Brooklyn, definitely check this place out.
Top notch food and some of the best fresh hummus in NYC I've ever had in this hidden gem in Brooklyn right off the L train!
The tables here fill up fast so book ahead if you can. The meals showcase newly made components. The team offered timely service while maintaining polite and helpful behavior. The ambiance here is laid-back and comfortable. I'll be coming back often even with a line.
BEST PLACE EVER!!! no idea why it’s not hyped more. every dish i tried was insane. i’ve been here 5 times now and it never fails me. FOOD IS DELICIOUS??? YET AFFORdable!!!!! staff is always friendly. THIS IS MY HIDDEN GEM but i will be telling everyone and their mom about it …. i loved the watermelon salad and eggplant dish!
I came with people from work and everyone enjoyed the food and service. Eating here regularly won't break you. Food here has perfect balance, interesting mouthfeel, and thoughtful preparation. The personnel performed admirably. This place delivers quality and I'm glad I experienced it.
Amazing experience. Food was delicious. Shortrib Tagine was a must get. Grettel is an amazing waitress and Edwin is a top notch bartender. They are really fun. Highly recommend
Very flavorful and delicious food. Service is fast and great. Cocktails are on point. Great go to spot in the area.
Brunch was incredible- the food was very fresh and really tasty. We eat regularly at Mediterranean and Middle Eastern restaurants, and this one stands out about the rest. The hummus has a perfect creaminess to it from the tahini. Everyone got different entrees and was satisfied. The latest Benedict was a standout (pictured).
the chicken kebab and the kofta kebab rice platters were both so good. awesome deal as well for the amount and quality of food you get. the hot sweet tea is also bomb
Absolutely loved this place! The service was flawless from start to finish, the food was bursting with flavor, and the drinks were out of this world. The Melafefon cocktail was truly a highlight—creative, refreshing, and perfectly balanced. An unforgettable dining experience, I’ll definitely be coming back!
This place is an absolute 10/10 - the chicken shawarma is unreal. Very authentic food. So lucky to have them in our neighborhood!
I've been meaning to come here for awhile and let me tell you it was worth the wait. I had the Moroccan Cigars which was accompanied by Tahini and Harissa. It was 😋. I also had the Meze of Falafel which was accompanied by a dipping sauce also. I think it was Tahini also. I had their Levantine Old Fashioned as the beverage. It was very good. The service is wonderful and so is the atmosphere. The space is small but they have outside seating in a very cute backyard which transports you to the Mediterranean. The music was very good, even though I didn't understand the lyrics. It was also at a perfect volume. It was Israeli music. The prices are very good and they have some great specials. I definitely will go back to try some of their other dishes.
Loved it here! The humus was perfect, fresh. The breakfast was the right portions and tasted so good. Everything about this place is great. Loved the staff, food, seating, decor, you name it! Haha well I didn’t love the music….gotta put something more ambient on I think. Pop at 10am wasn’t jelling for me. But I mean cmon if that’s the worst of it, then you gotta be doing something right!!! Highly recommended!!!!
Catering: Wow! We ordered their catering for the first time and couldn't be happier with our decision. We had friends over for Hanukkah dinner and wanted to enhance our cooking- we ordered their mezze mix, sweet potato latkes, eggplant carpaccio and fatush salad and every bite was fresh and delicious. They even sent the food beautifully presented for no additional cost. It made it so easy to host and I would definitely order from them again. Don't think twice. Order in!
Can’t say enough good things about this place! I lived in Israel and this is the real deal! They do incredible classics as well as new spins on the originals like the sabich stuffed burekas and babka French toast. The pita is divine and the hummus is velvety smooth. I’ve only been twice but will be changing that shortly. The service is always super kind and I LOVE the back patio because it’s such a cool vibe and there is AC.
Delicious!! Small, non pretentious cozy spot but the food AND DRINKS quality feels closer to high end manhattan restaurants. The short rib tagine was absolutely perfect. Perfect amount of food and flavor. Wish I lived closer, I’d be here all the time.
This is such a cozy place where you can really enjoy a good conversation — and the food is absolutely spectacular. Every dish is bursting with flavor, fresh, and beautifully prepared. The service is warm, friendly, and truly makes you feel at home. Definitely a spot I’ll come back to again and again. Highly recommended!
It’s not my first time here so I know what to expect. But it’s the first time I took out, I was hungry. I couldn’t resist and start eating in my car. Lol. Portion was really good and the taste flavor was exactly as if I was sitting in the restaurant which is rare those days. . Just wanted to share my experience. Great place!
The food here is delicious. 10/10. I really enjoyed my Fatush salad with salmon added. Salmon was cooked to perfection. Definitely returning because I can’t stop thinking about that salad!!! Waitress was kind. I will say the menu kind of varies from what you see online, depending on if you go on a weekday vs the weekend. I went on a weekend so the menu was not what I saw online.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Lavantine is an absolute gem in Brooklyn! The atmosphere is warm and stylish, the food is incredible, and the service is consistently top-notch. Edwin is awesome — he always makes sure everything is perfect and goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome. You can really tell he cares. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for amazing food and great vi
Amazing experience!! The service was great and staff was very friendly and helpful. All the food we got was wonderful. We had ordered the rib bao but received the fish bao instead, they were so nice about bringing us out the rib ones but it was a blessing in disguise because the fish were amazing too and so happy we got to try them both!!!
I wish I could’ve taken pictures of our amazing food but it is alll gone!! lol the food was so so delicious the hummus and the pita bread really are the best. The chicken schnitzel delicious but the DESSSERTTT BRUHHH baklava OH EMM GEE. You HAVE to try. WOW. And the staff the manager the place is truly a gem! Thank you for the AMAZING SERVICE AND FOOD!! We will be back
This place is incredible 🤯 It was much more than we expected ✨ Our first time visiting it and without a doubt we will return. We order the Lamb Humus, sweet potato’s and eggplant carpaccio, and for the starter the Brazino. Each dish was wuauuuuu! Excellent service, the team was very warm😍
An exceptional experience from start to finish! A group of us had dinner at Levantine in Williamsburg, and it was honestly one of the most memorable meals we’ve had in a long time. Every single one of us left impressed. The highlight for me was the Hummus Plate – Basar. The creamy hummus paired with perfectly spiced meat was out of this world comforting, rich, and deeply satisfying. Everyone at the table loved their dishes, and we kept sharing bites because everything was so good! What truly elevated the experience was the incredible hospitality. Coming from Türkiye, where political tensions with Israel can be complex, we were touched by how warm, respectful, and welcoming the staff were. There was only kindness and genuine human connection a beautiful reminder that food can transcend borders and bring people together. The atmosphere was vibrant yet relaxed, the ingredients fresh, and the flavors authentic with a modern touch. You can tell that this place is built with love and care. We’re already looking forward to coming back. Highly recommended to anyone looking for soulful Middle Eastern cuisine served with heart. ❤️
A smaller space, but nicely decorated. Was able to walk in at 7pm on a Tuesday night for two with no problem. Food and service were both great. The mezze portions are great; really loved the labneh. The carrots are slightly sweetened and is served cold. Falafel hummus was plentiful and the falafel was great. Chicken shawarma was delicious; recommend getting a side of pita so you can make yourself a pita sandwich.
What a delicious Mediterranean spot in Williamsburg. From the hummus, to watermelon & feta, to the cigar rolls and salmon, everything was very flavorful and prepared beautifully. Beyond that, service was top-notch and the drinks were delicious (on and the dessert French toast was INCREDIBLE). Can’t wait to return!
Official review king here…… came here chuckling to myself about the name of the place and had to try it! Lovely outdoor seating on a rainy evening, food was good but it wasn’t really anything to go home and tell mommy about….. but it’s not nothing to go home and tell mommy about. OFFICIAL REVIEW KING SCORE: HUMMUS MARKET OUT OF HUMMUS MARKET
I was there today with a friend, the place is really nicely decorated, open kitchen, we sat in the backyard which is heated which is very nice, the menu is served as a QR code, something I personally don't connect with, the food was delicious and very authentic, most of the dishes were really good, there was a dish that was not to my taste and immediately the waiter took it back and removed it from the bill and even offered alcohol on the house, the food took a while to arrive even though the restaurant was relatively empty, but definitely a nice experience, thank you😊
I ordered lunch from this place through Uber Eats and decided to try their Israeli home-style meal. It came with two chicken schnitzels—breaded and fried cutlets—served with Persian rice and a Mediterranean-style salad. The overall meal felt healthy, aside from the fried component. Even though the schnitzel was fried, it wasn’t greasy at all, which I appreciated. However, it was quite plain—no spice, very less seasoning, just a thin chicken breast coated and fried. The rice was flavorful, with dill and parsley, though different from what I usually expect in Persian rice (I was anticipating saffron or za’atar for that yellow hue). Still, it tasted nice and paired well with the chicken. The salad was simple and fresh—just chopped cucumber, tomato, onion, and herbs. I also ordered a baklava for dessert; it was good, though not the best I’ve had. Overall, the meal was decent—fresh, filling, and on the healthier side—but the flavors could use more depth. I’d be curious to try some of their other dishes next time to see what else they offer.
Really loved this spot in Wburg! The food was delicious, the drinks were very yummy and strong and they had a great variety of options to choose from. The food menu for dinner is also really big and has a lot to pick from. The one area that needed improvement was the service. It wasn’t that crowded when we were there, yet it took almost 15 minutes for our drinks to come and over 45 mins for 2 simple dishes of chicken and lamb. If not for that it would have been a perfect experience because the place is really cute!
The food was okay but not amazing. The hummus was very good but the burger, schnitzel, and fries were all pretty dry and tasteless. The outdoor area in the back is quite nice though
The food tasted great but the portion are super small for what you pay. Way overpriced! You can compare the shakshuka vs appetizers in the photo attached. Also the mix 3 appetizer is the same price as getting them individualy ($8), it should be cheaper like the mix 4 offer. Otherwise, what's the point?
The garlic hummus is amazing here: very creamy, strong garlic flavor. I honestly would come back just for that. The watermelon salad is interesting, a lot more savoury than other restaurant's. The other two dishes are meh. The restaurant is quite small, so recommend you have a reservation.
Food was excellent — the old fashioned was spot-on, the chicken skewers and salmon were both delicious, and the short rib tagine is sublime. The only downside was the service: when we arrived there was only one other party in the restaurant, but it still took around 20 minutes before anyone came to take our order. With food and drinks this good, a bit more attentiveness from the staff could really take this place from good to great.
The food at Levantine was very good Sadly what was unbearable for me was the smell inside the place. A mix of acid and smoky and don't know what else Sadly I won't be back here as it was making me nauseous Also the back and forth of the delivery folks was annoying as the corridor is super tight Maybe the team wants to consider a new location more suitable for such delicious food
"Mediterranean food" more like "mid-iteranean". You can find better versions of these dishes at *other types* of restaurants in NYC. I would give them 1 star, but at least the server was friendly when I'm I accidentally ate there. The back room has VERY UNCOMFORTABLE VIBES.
UPDATE after owner's response: Idan, your reply is even more insulting than the incident itself. You’re still claiming I “left no tip” despite the fact that I have receipts clearly showing tip amounts ranging from $7 to $11 on each of my past visits. I’ll be attaching these receipts publicly so everyone can see the truth. The fact that your manager confronted me after seeing the tip amount appear on his screen proves his complete incompetence—or worse, intentional dishonesty. He knew I tipped, yet chose to humiliate me anyway. Your excuse about "service not included" is not only condescending but also irrelevant. Tipping is never mandatory for small parties, and I had been tipping generously out of my own goodwill. Suggesting that guests “from Europe” don’t know how tipping works is another tone-deaf, patronizing remark that reflects the arrogance of your staff. But here’s the real issue: if your workers’ entire livelihood depends on whether I personally tip them or not, you're admitting that Levantine pays its employees poverty wages. That’s not my fault. That’s YOUR exploitative business practice. Don’t guilt-trip your customers because you refuse to pay your staff a decent wage. Instead of acknowledging your manager's mistake and apologizing sincerely, you chose to double down with this smug, dismissive response. You are not just being defensive—you are gaslighting a paying customer who went out of his way to support your business. This is the last dollar you’ll ever see from me, and food is meaningless when it comes served with arrogance, lies, and disrespect. ORIGINAL REVIEW: I’m beyond furious with my experience at Levantine today. I had discovered this place recently and actually liked the food, so much so that I’ve visited 3-4 times just this week, spending over $300-$400 in total. Every single time, I made sure to tip generously—almost $10 on each visit, even though I absolutely didn’t have to, as I was never part of a large party. But today’s visit was utterly unacceptable and disgraceful. After adding a $10 tip through the Blackbird app (as I always do), the owner approached me with an outrageous tone, accusing me of not tipping. It was an utterly embarrassing and disrespectful confrontation. He didn’t even bother to check his own system properly before making these baseless accusations. His lack of competence and arrogance turned what was supposed to be a nice meal into a humiliating experience. First of all, tipping is not mandatory, unless it’s a big party, which I wasn’t. I have been voluntarily tipping generously, supporting this local business, only to be talked down to and disrespected like I was trying to cheat them. The way he talked to me—condescending, accusatory, and downright rude—was unacceptable. It completely ruined my evening. I had been planning to become a regular customer, but after this display of terrible attitude, they’ve lost me permanently. I don’t tolerate false accusations, poor treatment, and unprofessional behavior—especially after being a paying and tipping customer. Levantine should seriously reconsider how they treat the people who support their business. You don’t accuse your loyal customers because of your own incompetence. They lost a valuable, repeat customer today, and I hope others are wary of the arrogance and lack of professionalism here. Food alone doesn’t make a good restaurant—respect and decency toward customers do.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. We waited almost 45 minutes to get served. They have two servers for the entire restaurant, the owner and one waitress. Spoke to the owner about our dissatisfaction with the wait and he couldn't give a damn. Food was edible but not worth the price. Small portions. There are so many better places to eat in Williamsburg why would anyone patronize this place. Take my word for it......your money is better spent elsewhere.
