I got my meal to go. I got the vegan nachos and sorry I didn't take a picture but I scarfed it down before I could think about sharing the experience....I don't know what they did to the seitan in there but it was sooooo good. Very flavorful altogether. I didn't have much interaction with staff but they were pleasant and it seemed pretty clean and cozy inside.
This place is delicious and the prices are great in comparison to other spots in the neighborhood. They also have an extensive vegan menu. I had the vegan tortas and the vegan chorizo quesadilla and everything was so good. I was very impressed. I will definitely be back next time I’m in the area.
Being Mexican and from the west coast, Im always on the hunt for good Mexican food in New York. Haab is definitely a gem. The Mole was pretty outstanding, the best I’ve had in the city! And the people working there are really kind without being overbearing, like another reviewer noted. Just moved into the neighborhood, and this will definitely be a regular spot from now on.
This place has a great vegan menu. I highly recommend the burrito arabe. Hits my vegan Caesar soft spot too as not many places carry it. Also they make a great mojito.
I had to do a quick call for work and we were the only ones there. I asked if by any chance the music could be lowered for 10 minutes since it was freezing outside and they did. The two staff members that I interacted with were amazing. The beer was cold and according to mom, margaritas were very good
I found Haab because I'm staying across the street and decided to give it a try. It's very tasty and fairly affordable. I kept it simple with a grilled chicken burrito. The meat is tender and flavorful. There's also a vegan section of the menu. Colorful decorations, good food, great location. Sounds like I'll be back!
Best vegan Mexican food anywhere, great service.
Love this place! They have authentic dishes with fresh ingredients and they taste delicious! I had a vegetable enchilada with the green tomato sauce and it was beautifully presented, felt light, healthy and tasted great! Will definitely be return!
Excellent spot. Can't believe it isn't rated higher! The guacamole is the best I've had in a long time, the elote is delicious, and the burritos (breakfast) and tacos (fish) are outstanding. Portion sizes are very good, too. Highly recommended!
This place is great!!! Stopped in for drinks and chips/guac and was not disappointed. Tables outside were spread out/distanced and very safe. Staff were all masked and very friendly. Also the prices were great and they have a FULL separate vegan menu which is amazing. Can’t wait to go back!
i’ve had the chicken enchiladas with mole and also with red chili on another occasion and both times were totally flavorful and delicious. The portions are generous, reasonably priced, and i really enjoy their outdoor seating. I can’t stop telling people how much I love Haab because I really haven’t found a place that checked so many boxes for me.
Simple and flavorful. Great selection of drinks (full bar!) And vegan dishes! Come for brunch, dinner or just happy hour and enjoy. Some of my favorite are seitan all pastor tacos and burritos!
The food and drink were delicious! Had the huevos cazuelita and a margarita. Our servers were very attentive and kind. Will definitely be coming back for brunch!
Fresh ingredients and a great range of Mexican food. The mole poblano is fantastic, so as the Haab burrito and shrimp taco. It also has a vegan-friendly menu that is equally delicious. Staff is always friendly and the food quality is consistent. My go-to place in the neighborhood!
We've ordered from here a few times and my goodness the food is so yummy!!!! My faves are the elote, fish tacos and birria tacos. My husband loves the chili relleno barbacoa (probably spelling wrong) it's the one with the lamb. Everything is always SO good!!!! If you're seeing a delivery time of 60-70 min and you live closeby, it doesn't always take that long BUT if it does, I promise you it's worth the wait :)
the food here is seriously good. it’s an underrated spot with a casual and rustic kind of decor but the food is the star. do yourself a favour and get the arugula salad with oaxacan cheese and the chile relleno or enchiladas. so good paired with a margarita and a price point that doesn’t sting
Great energy, good food, great drinks. A substantial amount of vegan options. Mario is an amazing bartender. The food proportions are substantial! Only thing I will say, there aren’t enough chips for the nachos. Other than that, this place is awesome. Will be coming back.
The best chilaquiles of NY. I've tried several dishes from the menu and everything is delicious and well served. It also has a vegan/veggie menu and GF options. This is a great place to watch a final from a match because there are always fans in there with a good atmosphere.
I thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant especially since it had so many vegetarian options. I had the Vegan Burrito. It was delicious and very generous at a very fair price. The people there are very nice and you can tell that they love their restaurant.
I wasn’t expecting the food to be this good! In 35 years in and around the Slope I had never been to this restaurant although I have driven or walked by a million times. I am glad I spur of the moment decided to eat here after earning the calories two blocks away at the Y. The prices are above your neighborhood Mexican place so usually in the best of cases you get better than average food… That was the case here, the Chile Relleno with Barbacoa, with cheese outside and a creamy red chili sauce, was out of this world!
One of the best restaurants ever: food is always great (even for a vegan), never rushed, and always a moderate noise level.
Great food and great prices. Full vegan options, even quasadillas! Very fun interior.
I have no idea why I waited so long to eat here. They’re amazing!!! I got the vegan nachos, and I’m pretty sure they’re the best nachos I’ve ever had. So much stuff on them and plenty of chips. So delicious! I’m craving more and wish I lived in Park Slope or close enough for delivery. The customer service is also amazing! Highly recommend!
Amazing vegan and non-vegan options, the vegan options were delicious, the waitstaff was kind and accommodated our desire to sit outside after we'd already been sat inside, and my friends enjoyed their margs. I'll be coming back!
Great food and the best Margaritas in the neighborhood. The service and ambiance are perfect t for dates and hanging with family/friends. I love this place Update, I STILL love this place. You won't find better quality, portions and ambiance anywhere in NYC and I stand by that. This place is a gem!
The staff are super kind and helpful! Amazing hosts! I had their tacos, and I highly recommend. The hongos con rajas was delicious. This restaurant deserves more love! Muchísimas gracias!
Mexico Autentico is a gem! The guacamole was incredibly fresh and flavorful, and the margaritas were refreshingly bold. Portion sizes were perfect — I scraped my plate clean and still wanted more, but left completely satisfied. Can’t wait to come back!
Hands down, authentic flavors. I'm surprised actually. It's hard to find authentic Mexican food spots with Authentic Flavors! (Spices ass baby! ) . This being in the neighborhood is a nice gem!
This place is great for vegetarians/vegans. I’ve bemoaned the loss of Mexican Radio for a few years now (easily the best Mexican for years for the veg crowd), and I’m so happy to come across this place. There are at least a couple of options under their regular menu for vegetarians who eat cheese and they have an entire section of their menu devoted to vegan items. Brunch, too!
Haab is so special! Great place to come for food/drinks with a comfortable and relaxed colorful atmosphere. Delicious margaritas with tajin rims. I tried the vegan tostadas and loved them. Would definitely order again. I suggest pairing it with an appetizer if you have a big appetite. Friends adored the tofu scramble. Good burritos too. The waiters are kind and accommodating.
I feel I have died and gone to heaven. I ordered the mole poblano and it is one of the best sauces I have tasted! The rice and beans were also cooked well. Only critique is the chicken itself could use a bit more flavor. But excellent overall w/ lots of flavor in the mole and timely delivery.
Great Mexican food. Friendly and helpful service. Very highly recommend.
Have eaten there many times. The quality and presentation of the food is consistently excellent. But mostly, there are few restaurants that have equally excellent arrays of vegan and non-vegan options so it’s a great place to take non-vegan friends. (Especially recommend the vegan fajitas.)
Best and most authentic Mexican spot in NYC. Waiters are amazing and very knowledgeable about the menu and food.
I went to Haab just over a year ago for the first time & I can honestly say my husband & I have eaten there or gotten take out at least twice a month since then. They have a double-sided menu, one side is a Mexican-American menu while the other is the same stuff, but vegan! The Burrito Arabe (vegan, around $15) is stuffed to the brim with food & comes with a side of their Arabe sauce, which we wish we could order in bulk, but it's made in house & they don't sell it. We still ask for it whenever we go, just in case they decide to sell it, haha! The vegan nachos (also around $15) are my go-to! The tortilla chips are always fresh & piled high with crispy seitan, vegan cheese, pico, black beans, jalapenos & a generous helping of guacamole. Whether you're dining in or taking out, they provide additional hot sauces from which to choose. The Margarita Classica is always ice cold & delicious. The glass has a chile salted rim which adds a really nice bite to the drink. Delivery is always incredibly fast, as well!
Great spot. Enjoyed the picture of sangria. I got the chilaquiles, it’s was good. The burritos with the green sauce was fantastic. Next time I’m getting that.
What an amazing spot. Haven’t gotten a single food or drink item that I didn’t love at a reasonable price(which seems to be so rare). The vegan and vegetarian options are great! They actually have seitan! When it’s busy, it may be a bit of a wait for service, but all the servers are very kind. The happy hour is a great way to get tasty margaritas for a good price.
Their vegan menu is amazing! One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Brooklyn — if they keep up the great work, I'll be a loyal customer
My partner and I have both tried the chicken tortilla soup on separate occasions, and have agreed it's some of the best we've ever had. INCREDIBLE flan as well!
So many vegan brunch options! Try the tofu scramble absolutely any way. You will not be disappointed. Presentation equals the deliciousness. Great service, too!
This place has grown on me as I've continued to go back. The wait staff are mostly warm and authentic accommodate requests. I love that there's vegan options for almost every section of the menu. The food is yummy, especially with the fresh elements, such as, special cilantro, lime, radishes and flavorful salsas. Haab is a good neighborhood casual dining option for dinner, brunch or lunch (with specials).
This is one of my go to places. There’s never a wait. The interior is decorated in a very fun way and I love the outdoor seating in the summer. The outdoor seating is dog friendly too! The food is the best part. It’s unbelievably good with a beautiful presentation and unbeatable drinks! The staff is always friendly and attentive as well. Can’t recommend this place enough!
Mexican cuisine is in my top 3 and this place has a nice selection of vegan options that I've enjoyed. Their tofu chorizo is crispy, chewy, and flavorful. Love the nachos (not pictured). Enchiladas were satisfying. Scramble was tasty along with the chilaquiles. And even their fajitas were good, and usually restaurants just sautee veggies with no regard for flavor. Drinks were pretty decent. This place is in the rotation now.
Best vegan Mexican food we’ve had yet! We don’t live nearby, but we’ll definitely be coming back! All the flavors and textures were perfect. The seitan on the tostadas was delicious and the base stayed strong and crispy without being too crunchy. The eggs dish had great seasoning with the perfect amount of spice for us. Great tortillas, great service, will be back!
Super cute place with a great menu for vegans and a very cozy home vibe. Great for a casual meal!
Yummy place with tons of vegetarian and vegan options with more interesting than typical ingredients. Nice staff, delicious but maybe not so strong margaritas--but hey it's kind of a family place in Park Slope, so what do you want? The coffee/caramel flan was surprisingly delicious. Maybe not a place to travel out of your way to, but excellent local option.
Very good Mexican restaurant in a neighborhood of much similar competition. Really good and ample size guacamole, birria and fish tacos were nicely done and fajitas were impressive. Would have given five stars except the friendly service was somewhat discombobulated.
Very solid and reliable neighborhood Mexican place with all the standards. The food is well prepared and fresh, the margaritas are well made, and the service is always friendly. The inside seating is pleasant and they have a nice outdoor area (well covered so you can stay dry if it’s raining). Best of its type in the neighborhood (better than the two over on 5th Avenue that are related to each other).
This is our go-to brunch spot in Park slope. We love it because it's incredibly chill and the food is good. And the service is friendly! The only thing that's keeping it from being five stars is the really weird way that they do their pricing. I have been charged $5 for a side of jalapenos. So at this point we don't order any additional things on the side, even if it's a side of mole sauce, etc. Because every time we do it costs $5. Totally weird, doesn't make sense, love this place other than that.
I gave 4 stars because I ordered a Tinga burrito 🌯, but was given carnitas instead! I didn't make an issue because I was hungry and it was delicious 😋.
The food was very good. I had the fish tacos. The fish was fresh and succulent, topped with cilantro, onion, mango, radishes, and avocado. I had the classic margarita (2 of them), and they were delicious! I especially liked the tamarind salt around the rim of the glass. My dining partner had the chicken burrito, which was tasty. I would definitely go back!
A really cute Mexican restaurant. The staff was very friendly and attentive. We came for lunch and enjoyed our fajitas. They have all types of yummy drinks. My steak fajitas needed a bit more seasoning but my friend enjoyed hers. I wish they would’ve served us some complimentary chips and salsa.
Happy hour prices M-Th (maybe all night). Cozy spot, kid-friendly and good for meeting a friend at the bar. Great vegetarian/vegn selection. Non-vegetarian options are uneven -- molé is good but a chicken breast special was very dry. Choose wisely and it's a winner.
I think our waitstaff was new or something. We walked in to ask to be seated on the patio, but couldn't find a hostess. We had to go up to the bar where a waitress was eating and she looked confused when we asked if we could sit outside. When we were finally seated, it took about 10 minutes before someone came by to give us water. We ordered two cocktails and a bowl of guacamole. Yummy drinks and food, but the experience took over an hour for a small order because the waitress just kept forgetting to check back in. I'll give them a try again because the patio is nicely set on a quiet street and the guacamole was really good. They just need to train up their staff a bit on efficiency.
This kinda kills me: The food here isn't bad. It's far from good, but 'hey, Mexican-American glop!' at 3 or so stars is fair. And: Ordered on their website. They said the order would take 20 minutes. IT TOOK 77. People arrived, were seated, fed, and paid their bills during that extra 57 minutes. Clearly, the place simple deprioritizes to-go, period. Did they give me a drink after about 40 of the extra 57 minutes? They did. Did that add chips and salsa to my order? Yes. But... C'mon. Seriously. Oh: and the 'pitcher' of margarita I ordered was ... well, small ... And despite the menu stating ice would be on the side, it was mixed in ... meaning that what got home was way-diluted. And again, contrary to what their own menu stated. A complete cluster-bomb.
It is such a fun place, the margaritas are great, and the service is excellent! The tinga burrito was good, delicious perfectly cooked beef, and I loved the side of salsa. The nachos were just ok. The cheese for some reason was on the bottom and the al pastor was overcooked. The green house sauce is herbaceous and flavorful. But although I wouldn't order these dishes I would definitely come back to try some other menu items!
The food is good. The old staff is friendly...the new waitress...ehhh. but SERVICE was HORRIBLE!!! Frequented Haab numerous times. Im used to the wait time from sitting to ordering to actually getting your food but tonight it was horrible. when my party of 6 arrived there was only a couple sitting at 1 table. we were seated almost immediately and at the same time another large party had arrived and before we knew it the place was filled..no room for any more diners. We watched everyone get their drinks and food before we were even asked if we wanted water. took about 20 minutes for water. took an hour before we started chasing the waitress down so that we can order and finally took her about 15 minutes more to take the order. Heres the kicker...we waited over another hour for our food which was short dishes so guess what?? we had to wait longer..while we salivate over everyone elses food who obviously arrived after we did but was served way before us. This is unacceptable!!! As soon as we got up to leave, they'd bring 2 dishes. unacceptable!!! We will no longer be patronizing this establishment. So sad because the food is tastey and there are vegan options.
I was in a new neighborhood and went here with friends. Sadly, I ended up having a miserable experience. The main problem I had was with the service, which was awful, considering it seemed like our server spoke fluent English. I ordered the Chili Relleno de Barbacoa, which was described as a traditional stuffed poblano pepper with lamb meat. When it arrived, it was simply stuffed and baked, rather than dredged in egg batter and fried. It also came covered with cheese and sour cream, although the sour cream was not listed as a topping in the menu description. I called the waiter over to share my displeasure about having my main course covered in a white cream that I don't care to eat that wasn't listed on the menu. Instead of apologizing for the misunderstanding and trying to make it right, he tried to gaslight me by saying there wasn't any cream on top, only cheese. Liar! For what it's worth, the meat was juicy and tender, but it didn't feel like a Chili Relleno to me when it was baked, not fried. On the side, it came with some blue corn tortillas, clearly not handmade at the restaurant. Is this place really Autentico? I think not. I'd even wager there is artificial blue food dye in those tortillas, but after my previous incident with the sour cream, I didn't expect the server to give me a straight answer even if I did ask him if artificial blue food dye is used. In a final stroke of complete bewilderment, my partner asked for a to go box and bag. The paper bag given to her was so small that it could not fit the round aluminum to-go container at the bottom of the bag. Since she got enchiladas, there was sauce in the to-go dish, making the to-go bag completely unusable since the only way the dish would fit in it was vertically, allowing the sauce to leak out the side. The saving grace was the decor. It was very bright and colorful inside, with many fun pieces of art, which did give it an authentic Mexican feel. But when the best part of the meal is the company and the decor, rather than the food and the service, well, that's a big NO from me dog. I would be thankful to never have to come here again. For actual authentic Mexican food, I would suggest a different neighborhood like Sunset Park or Bushwick!
Ordered promptly when we arrived (w a 3 year old). Others around us ordered after. Both tables got chips and guac (which we also ordered) before us. Fifteen minutes go by. My 3 yr old was incredibly patient. I asked what was going on they said it was a full restaurant and I had to wait. I live down the block and I won’t be patronizing this place anymore. The convenience is not worth the rudeness and attitude of the staff. It’s sad that good food can be blemished by just downright bad service.
We saw a lot of good reviews but our experience wasn’t great. We waited a long time to be sat, almost bailed. The table next to us found a worm in their food. Our food was pretty bland and didn’t seem very fresh or good quality. May have been an anomaly or a bad night for them but we haven’t gone back since.
Please read: Service was terrible, food arrived cold when it did arrive which was over an hour after we sat. I had to ask for the timeline of our food 3 times and each time was told it was being cooked. I ordered 2 Taco's and a quesadilla which they got wrong. They added chicken to my quesadilla which I did not order. They gave my daughter tofu instead of chicken and my wife's plate was incredibly hot while her food was cold. It took 27 minutes to get our sodas, 40 minutes to get chips and salsa and a full hour to get our meal. There were 4 tables, 5 including ours... I informed the waiter of the mistakes with our food and he stated "well its here now" and walked away. It seems the place was run by young people with zero customer service or training. What a terrible dining experience. It seems they were more interested in the take out than the indoor dining. Will not be returning.
This was the worst Mexican food I’ve ever eaten. The guacamole it looked like it came out of a tube. The rice was old and the beans taste as if it came out of a can. The drank taste like I was drinking gasoline.
Had to wait for 50 minutes for the food, rude and arrogant manager, greasy meal, salad wasn't fresh. I LOVE Mexican cuisine, so this was very disappointing.
The owner was so nasty. The first thing I asked before I ordered is how much would it be if I ordered 3 tacos. He said the extra taco would cost 6.50. I told him I want two fish taco , one lamb and a vegetarian burrito. My bill was almost 60 dollars. I told him I didnt understand the bill. So he yelled at me and said do you want the food or not. I left. I was shocked to learned he was the owner and treated customers like this. I came all the way from long island and he was very nasty. The staff had to apologize on his behalf. So sad. If you dont have the patience to deal with people then dont own a business. He was very rude and disrespectful.
March 14th 2024. I went to this restaurant just to kill some time like I've been doing since December. This time I ordered the Grilled Corn on the Cobb $7. I offered to pay by Card and was told I the limit is $10. Without hesitation I decided to request another Corn bringing my total order to $14+tax. I was told it would be ready in 15mins. So it was nice and sunny outside and chose to sit outside for my order. After being seated for approximately 5mins a worker approached me and rudely asked if I was waiting on food? I politely responded yes I am!! He didn't even wait to hear my response to his question, during my response he continued very rude and stated that if I ordered food I should be inside waiting, I need to move because he wants to clean the area. Meanwhile, just two tables down had two gentlemen and a child seating eating. I moved and yielded to his request even if I felt he was out of place. To my surprise the guy kept on going and insisted that I moved and get out of there altogether. I proceeded to the inside to log a complaint to the Server and he just brushed me off. I asked if he had a Manager on site and he directed me to another gentleman seated behind the bar. He too, very casual with a big smile on his face, just told me the guy outside is a worker and he will talk to him about it. That was the conflict resolution....in 2024 Brooklyn NY intersection of 7St and 6Ave. Please take caution when you visit because the customer service is very low.
Vegan people beware!! The food was canned and gave me and my partner food poisoning. We spent almost $70 for canned food!! DO NOT COME UNLESS YOU WANT CANNED FOOD AND FOOD POISONING. Need a refund or I’ll report this restaurant to the Department of Health, I have all the documentation needed from the food poisoning (had to go to the hospital.)
We were scolded because our toddlers were "too loud" even though it was a quiet night and we were the biggest party at the restaurant. Something we have never experienced before at any establishment in Park Slope. Sad part is that we actually got food from here pretty often. But we won't be comig back, not worth it. If you are going to run an inclusive restaurant business in the middle of a residential family neighborhood you might want to consider how you treat families with small children.
This one-star review reflects the disrespectful treatment I just received in this restaurant. I did not eat there. And I won't. The bartender was insulting to me while I was making conversation with him and his co-worker. Also, the place looks very overpriced.
