Best homemade donuts in Brooklyn... and make sure you get a steamy hot coffee to go with it

This family-owned donut shop does donuts the right way, by providing consistency and taste at the right price that anyone can afford. This is why they're still one of the best in NYC, if not Brooklyn and repeatedly gets good mention in Serious Eats and alongside other donut shots, ie. Peter Pan Donuts up in Greenpoint. They've expanded their offerings to croissants and bagels but don't let that fool you. The donuts are the star of the show, and they sell coffee to go along with it. As far as decor, there's not much to look at, but expect Brooklyn charm to shine in their customer service.

My first time here after seeing it on Television. The nicest young man assisted me with a smile and overflowing enthusiasm. He went out of his way to ensure an unforgettable experience. BTW, the Doughnuts were OUTSTANDING !!! I'll be back !!!!

Omg. Somehow I decided cake donuts were going to be my end of 23 cheat good items. I'm still eating then in February if 2024. I love mikes donuts.

Excellent doughnuts, bagels, croissants and coffee. Good decent prices and good service. Dunkin and other bakeries are right down the block but we'd rather go to Mike's they're great!

Wonderful doughnut shop in Brooklyn. Friendly attentive service and all their doughnuts are made fresh daily. You get a old school feel when walking in and the people there were so friendly. Great prices for doughnuts too. You definitely get your bang for your buck with quality doughnuts. Also a nice coffee or iced coffee is had here too. My go to items though are the old fashioned and crawler. Crunchy fried crisp outside and a nice moist cake inside doughnut. The way it should be. Also a wonderful apple crumb with a great crumble topping and apple filling in the yeast type donut. Also wonderful jelly doughnuts as the raspberry one had a great filling and the yeast donut as airy and soft. Yum i'm a fan.

Authentic Brooklyn Donut Shop. More than just an experience: Friendly shop, has Lavazza Espresso available as well as the traditional donut house coffee. Lot to love about this place.

I like donuts, but I LOVE Mike's Donuts. They truly are perfectly fresh donuts. They have a great variety. Their cruellers and the donut with vanilla glaze with jelly on top are my favorites

I’ve been coming here for a few years now almost every day because I work less than a block away. Every morning I come here for a bagel and a coffee, sometimes a donut or croissant; and every morning I’m greeted by the same few people with a great attitude and a big smile, that you can see even behind the mask. The pastries are made fresh and the coffee is delicious. It is a small business, and like many other small businesses, they do cash only. If you can’t carry a few bucks in your pocket for a coffee, then that’s on you. I love Mike’s Donuts and everyone that works here and it’s definitely worth it every. single. time.

I have braved snow and long distances for Mike's and it's always been worth it. It's traditional, simple donuts done so right, that you wonder why some other places get all the credit for NY donuts. My absolute favorite of theirs is the cruller. Crispy on the outside, soft and cakelike on the inside. You cannot get better than that, my friends.

I can't believe I passed by this neighborhood gem so many times and never stopped by until last weekend! The best donuts you can get in Brooklyn! Glazed is my favorite, it melted in my mouth. The price is also very very good. Service is super friendly! Loved it.

It’s a good place for cup of tea/coffee and bagels/donuts. The front table is nice, most of time crowded, but a little patient will get your cream cheese bagel serve. Price is lovely for a little breakfast or tea time. And their product are mostly handmade, that’s what make them cost me a 5 star.

The best donuts ever. So fresh and soft with perfect amount of glaze. It’s sweet without being crazy sweet and doesn’t have that weird chemical aftertaste. Their bialy and bagels are great too. Coffee is not good though.

moving some furniture from Bk to NJ........upon picking up the couch in Bay Ridge I had to stop. Boom coffee, donuts and muffins oh my! Did not disappoint as usual. My Aunt would bring Mike's donuts to our home in NJ when she would visit. After all these years the quality has been the same. Outstanding!!!!

Simple place were you can get simple food. Super fast service, they dance around the counter completing orders like an Olympic team. They make all the bagels, donuts and croissants in house. Choose butter, cream cheese or American cheese. Cant go wrong with the coffee either. Numerous different teas to choose from. Very New York.

Delicious donuts made fresh on premises every day. Very reasonable prices- cheaper and infinitely higher quality than Dunkin. Tables and chairs available for sitting and shooting the breeze with the locals.

Family owned and run. Super friendly, very quick, very efficient, very cheap ($ in a good way $), and the bagels, coffee, and pastries are never disappointing! I love coming here right before I catch a movie at Alpine Cinema across the street. ☺

It's donuts the way the should be... Regular donuts are sweet lite and airy. Cake donuts have initial crunch and and have a nice flavor you cannot get out of a box or DDs which have an aftertaste. Muffins need work but the place is called Mike's donuts not Mike's muffins.

Best place around for just a classic donut. Nothing fancy or expensive but it doesn't need to be. Always fresh and delicious, I love their Boston Creme and Cinnamon Crumb!

Honestly, the best donut coffee shop from Bay Ridge to Bensonhurst! Get a baker's dozen for the price of a dozen with wonderful coffee. Not sure how Dunkin Donuts stays in business in this area.

I haven't felt like writing a review in a long time but I have never been so excited than I am today! Mike's donuts in bay ridge has joined Uber eats! *Squeals* These are by far my favorite donuts ever. The shop people are always so nice, and often remember you. Today even tho they were out of what I ordered they called up and asked what I wanted instead, and threw in some extras! I swear I only ordered 6 donuts but I WILL eat them all (3 tiers in this box my friends)! If possible you should try to pickup of course, however they don't have an in house driver so Uber eats will deliver and while I don't condone their profit schemes I do appreciate that small shops can bring me their food this way. Order early they sell out fast! You don't wanna bake this HOT holiday weekend, let Mike's donuts do it for you!

Place is nothing special and nothing to look at. After Covid, they took away the tables so now it’s only walk in and buy. No seating. Doesn’t matter Mike has some of the best donuts in Brooklyn. They are always fresh ,made every morning and never disappoint! By far some of the best donuts I’ve tasted.

Man oh man where to begin! First off R.I.P to Mike, mikes donuts is probably the best genuine coffee/donuts shop in all of NYC! The donuts here are always fresh and taste amazing! Never have I ever came here and hated the delicious bagels or their freshly made donuts and fresh brewed coffee. I used to come here more often since I used to work and go to school in the area but that was back in 2020. Came here today and it’s still just as banging!

I just came here for the first time this past weekend after seeing several post on Facebook about this place having the best donuts around. Trust me....you don't get donuts this fresh from Dunkin or pretty much anywhere else. The donuts are so light, fluffy and delicious that you just can't stop at eating just one. After catching an old Impratical jokers episode where they did a skit here, had to go check them out. Picked up a dozen donuts, and had two before I even pulled out of my spot (as you can tell one is missing in the picture, you get a free donut with the purchase of a dozen). Gentlemen in the front who help me was really courteous and picked out a great variety when I asked him for a random dozen. I'll be coming back, for sure!

I got a couple donuts from here, an eclair and a cinnamon roll. The positive: They were fresh, fluffy, and absolutely delicious, the flavor of the donut itself plain was so good especially the pom-poms which also an amazing crispy outside. The negative: I wish the pom-poms and eclair had more filling and I wondered if the cinnamon was in the room with me because it sure wasnt on the cinnamon bun. Overall I recommend trying this place out, I can assure you wont ever want donuts from a chain store.

I stopped by here for the first time yesterday on my way to work. Unable to decide on a single donut I got 10 donut holes for $1 and a cup of coffee, making note that they have bagels made in house for next time. Next time was today. I stopped in for a bagel with cream cheese. This is where they disappointed. Not only was there not nearly as much cream cheese as is typically on a bagel in brookyln, there wasnt even enough cream cheese to get some in every bite. I'll still probably go for donuts, but that may be it.

Good donuts🙂. Gonna guess depending on when u go, the selections may vary. There was around 7-8 types of donuts to choose from, going around 3pm on a Saturday. I got a Boston creme one and a jelly filled one 😋. The quality of the donuts is better than the normal donuts you get from dunkin (in my opinion) hehe. I would reccomend it to satisfy a donut craving of in that area. Would definitely go again for more donuts and maybe to try the other stuff they have.

What initially appears to be a hole in a way expands into a nice, quaint establishment. Though donuts are right when you walk in, it seems that this is just one of the many layers that this place inhabits. I would love to go back and enjoy the diner vibe that it presents. Also, the donuts are standard, but quite delicious. Atmosphere in there is on point. I recommend their crullers.

Doughnuts are good but not enough icing on the Doughnuts and the cream and jelly Doughnuts had very little filling inside of them.

Pretty sure i got food poisoning from their donuts (glazed and jelly) -excreted diarrhea and threw up for 2 days in a row. On the first day, I only consumed their donuts at around 6:30 am, and then i threw up around lunch time and continued to throw up and have diarrhea. Their donuts had tasted off but i thought i was not fully awake yet. Like a bath of oil was in my mouth..shoulda trusted my senses…

I know this place is very highly rated and I have been agreeing with that for years, however I went in this week and purchased a dozen donuts, half of which were not at all fresh. The glazed cake donut and glazed yeast donuts were absolutely sublime and falling-apart-fresh, however most of the others were hard and stale. I'm not sure how it happened and I didn't call them to complain - perhaps I should have - but I was so disappointed. On the list of culprits were the glazed marble cake stick, the coconut donut (which I remember being a cake donut in the past, and the cinnamon crumb. The Boston cream had an off flavor and the apple filled just wasn't up to par. This was an unfortunate donut experience for me and I'm not sure I will try again. What's funny is that I've been buying donuts here for years - we even special ordered them for one of the dessert tables at our wedding! Here's hoping to better donuts in the future.

Been coming here for 20 years however today I noticed Mike does not change his gloves when handling food and cash. Foods great but what’s up with that?

Customer Service very robotic. Went to get donuts at 1pm and there weren’t many donuts available. Asked if they had any more donuts and was told “No”. The shop closes at 5pm, why don’t they have a full rack of donuts at 1pm on a Sunday afternoon?

I’ve been here a couple of times and I’ve never been that impressed with the donuts nor their wishy-washy service. It’s especially more disappointing because they tout themselves to be a family run business. The one lady there was rushing me even though no one else was in line, and got my order wrong. We had handed her the money and she just throws the change back on the counter away from us.

2021 almost and we still doing CASH ONLY... I always prefer small family owned place for my coffee and donuts but when I hear cash only...it’s like they stab me in my eye or something...maybe it’s just me but I hate paying cash in this day and age.

Sold me old stale donuts ! Was very hard and bitter. I went at 1 pm to pick up donuts and came back with donuts that tasted like it was three days old. Disappointed

I don't if they were having an off day but I was very disappointed with the quality of the donuts, bagels, egg sandwich and coffee. The donuts were stale and tasted terrible. The sesame bagel was floppy and soggy and almost no cream cheese was put on the bagel. The coffee was watered down and the egg sandwich on bialy tasted like microwaved eggs on cardboard. Mikes was always a great place to get good coffee and donuts. I decided to order from them today after almost a year and immediately regretted my decision once I tasted everything. I hope that the quality hasn't gone down by a consistent basis and that they were just having a bad day.

Very rude! I called more than six times requesting a call back from the owner. I ordered two boxes of donuts to give as a gift. I spent over $50….Donuts were harder than rocks! Do not order after 4:30….you will be throwing your money in the garbage. It’s not the money aspect…. It’s very very poor business to ignore a customer’s experience.

I arrived as a doordasher to the rudest middle aged woman idk if she was having a bad day but I will never buy from her myself I walked in the fire thing ahe askes is if I can hold a dozen donut box straight mind you I’m a body builder so it was just to question my ability at my job with I’m a platinum member for having such good stats. So I ignored it and waited for them to finish the food next the old women drop the bag before handing it to me and they look at me look it my fault. Then I go on to review the order and realize the whole bag that the old woman dropped wasn’t part of my order as a honest person I walked back in to tell her to be told that they got the order right and that I need to leave and make my delivery now as if there my boss. I’m happy you did it though because the woman I delivered to was such a sweetheart and apologized for them and there actions and deserves that extra food…. Very unsatisfactory
