Ok, listen (read) closely. So, I went to another spot a week prior to going to Nene’s to get birria tacos. I won’t mention the name of the spot, but girl, it is overrated. They have such a big following for lackluster, in-authentic “birria” tacos. I’m talking no flavor, no love, no sauce, no drippage. It was quite disappointing. Now, while at this place, one of the young ladies who WORKS THERE....lol, tells me that I need to go to Nene’s Taqueria to try REAL birria tacos! I will be forever thankful for her because it was one of the best moves I’ve made all year. So, shout out to her. Ok, so first, I looked at Nene’s Instagram and the salivation that took place just by looking at their photos/videos was unreal! But even then, you can’t fully judge based on the IG, because the other place that I went to, also has great photos and videos of their “birria” tacos. So yes, I was excited to try Nene’s, but still a little nervous. I finally go. I placed my order and the guy at the register said it’d take about 25min for my order to be ready. That was fine with me. It gave me the impression that everything is made from scratch. Oh....and it is, ladies and gentlemen. Everything at Nene’s is made from scratch! I ordered their birria tacos, as well as their....get this...birria empanadas (drops mic)!! So needless to say, I was beyond excited and drool-y! The food comes out, we sit outside. I first reveal the birria tacos, and just the looks of these tacos alone, puts the “birria” tacos from the other place, to SHAME! I mean, you could see the juice, the drippage, even the love in these tacos. I pick one up, dip in the sauce, and bite into it.........Girl, I had to pause a few seconds because my taste buds were ACTING UP! Hear me? They weren’t even able to figure out the amount of flavor and love that was taking place! Ugh! I was on a flavor journey. I came back to reality and began to devour that birria taco. The beef was incredibly juicy and tender. There was juice dripping everywhere. I mean in unknown places, and I welcomed it! These were in fact, real, authentic birria tacos and that other place outta be ashamed. Ok, so next up, was the birria empanada. Oh my god. It was delectable. That fried, crispy empanada exterior, paired with the cheese, and juicy beef sent me into another haze. This type of flavor. This type of skill, cannot be imitated. Either you know what you’re doing, or you don’t. Nene’s knows EXACTLY what they’re doing! Ugh! It makes me wanna cuss just thinking about it....but I won’t. All that drama just to say that Nene’s is the real deal. Not a lot of fuss. Not super fancy in decor. But delicious, and authentic. When it’s authentic, there’s no need for all the hype. You let the food speak for itself. And my girl Nene does just that. I commend them. They’re the true culture of New York City. Them, and places like them. Thank you, Nene’s. You’d be a fool not to go.

Man I love this place. Good no-frills spot for some GREAT tacos. Birria is my fave, but all the meats are tender and juicy, every single time so you can't go wrong. Agua de Jamaica is very good so I highly recommend with your tacos. Service is usually quick but if you are waiting a bit just know it's very well worth it.

Very filling delicious steak burrito. It was very tasty, the steak very tender, all fillings were on point. The sauce bar has good options of spicy sauces. Even though they forgot to add the guacamole on my burrito, they gave me some in a cup. How thoughtful and nice. The service and environment of this little Mexican food place, made me feel like home. Cant wait to go back ☺️

Delicious tacos!! Hole in the wall kind of spot. The restaurant is also a bodega? You can buy all these other things inside and next to the cash register there’s a kitchen where you can see all the delicious food get made. There are a few seats on a counter where you can eat but nothing fancy. The food itself (I got the pollo tacos) is phenomenal 🤤at fair prices. Definitely worth checking out!

Quick and easy ordering. The food took a few minutes to be done. I had 3 chicken 3 el pastor, steak , pork and birria, and truthfully, I was extremely happy and beyond satisfied with every single taste. It did not disappoint and I look forward to going back. I love the condiments bar to perfectly add a few extras to your tacos.

The tacos was ok nothing special I order the tongue tacos and the steak tacos and chicken quesadilla that was so big no tasty so good, the place looks nice, the topping for the tacos was like kind old, the orchata too sweet was more like milk whit sugar not real and traditional orchata.

I remember when Nenes opened and getting the birria pizza situation with consommé and it was pretty amazing. The tacos were great too - comforting and great flavor. We just ordered delivery and unfortunately the quality seems to have gone down quite a bit. We spent $100 and ended up feeling a little let down! The steak burrito was not good - there was almost zero seasoning which was a little mind boggling. Normally these ingredients speak for themselves and don’t need a lot of guidance but it was pretty lackluster. The Pozole was watery anemic broth - the only flavor that really came through was some lime but no salt to speak of - it felt like the soup was cut with water a few times over ($19 btw). Al pastor tacos were dry and again… lacking in seasoning substantially. The empanadas were ok but mostly dough with a small amount of filling - the chicken was actually flavorful but there just wasn’t much in there! The bread they used for the torta was soft and wet and ended up being really mushy. Ideally the owners will see this and do some quality control because it really needs some love and they have no business charging their prices and giving out what feels like mass produced food at this point.

Usually pretty good but just opened up my order to find our quasadillas have little to no filling inside?? I'm confused as to who give this the "ok" to be sent out and served. Frustrated and annoyed considering the price

We ordered their birria plate, chicken burrito, as well a large Horchata. For the birria plate, the rice lacked flavor and the beans were okay. The birria meat was quite chewy and juicy. However, the chicken burrito unfortunately was not great. The chicken meat did not look appetizing and was quite dry. There were blobs of what I think was cheese that did not sit well with the stomach day of and following day. The horchata also had a strange bubble gum taste.

I used to love this spot :/ but whenever I go there once in a while I end up with food poisoning. I have a feeling they are not checking the expiration dates. I had birria tacos two days ago and have been dealing with stomach aches. Even my friend had a burrito and had the same reaction… wish I could go back but not until the hygiene is better and even so I’m still afraid to go back. Such a shame. Good food too

what happened to this place? used to be reliable, consistent, and beloved. Now its cold, barely warmed torilla, steak and chicken dry as hell. even the birria is dry. Beans are flavorless. Burritos no longer come w sauce on the side via delivery (it used to be automatic) and they barely contain sour cream and pico; therefore, burrito is dry as hell. u open the burrito and theres no visible binder like cheese or sour cream. no salt in that rice. Overall disappointing the last two times ive ordered. what good is a nenes burrito without the orange salsa!!!!!

Pretty good birria combo, however the individual order birria tacos and quesedilla were quite bland. My #1 problem is one of the workers handling money without changing his gloves to touch cooked food. That's just gross, no matter how busy you are, it's not okay to wrap burritos and serve empanadas after touching cash, wallets, and other unsanitary items with your greasy food gloves. As for the convenience section, it seems more like a novelty than a functional deli, there's not many selections and high prices. Birria Combo 4/5 Taco/Quesedilla 2/5 Hygiene 1/5

I ordered a birria combo and I only got the tacos and no birria lol Second time this month that they screwed my order, I wonder if the owner sold the place to a different person

Once I entered the restaurant, I seen one of the employees making videos for social media, however I had to wait 15 minutes to order until they were done! I certainly get marketing however they were also making I’ll comments towards door dasher or uber deliverers, the young lady had stated she “hated all the delivery driver and that she wished they didn’t work with those specific companies” a delivery driver had made there way in to pick up an order, however the delivery person was met with tremendous disrespect, the delivery driver had asked for the food to be confirmed prior to them hitting confirm, and the lady at the front took it wrong and tried bossing the delivery driver to confirm order, although the dasher was certainly needing to confirm all the food was there. Mind you, the delivery driver had caught a mistake they had made! In all, the environment was uncomfortable, for another professional to be treating delivery drivers with such behavior was truly appalling, you’re not any better then the delivery drivers, Treat Everyone with respect, especially when they’re helping YOUR business grow, The food was certainly DECENT however she needs to rethink how she treats people, these delivery drivers should report this store so they do not have to help this merchant!! You are not their boss, they help YOUR business grow! Don’t forget that!

Food is good but I preordered and waited for 30 minutes while the staff let the Uber Eats guys cut the line the entire time. I ended up with cold food. 45 minutes to get a burrito is not worth your time.

I ordered for delivery from this location yesterday with my colleagues. I was enjoying my Al Pastor burrito but then there was a short black hair that was in it, I pulled it out and didn't say anything to not ruin my colleagues appetites too... but then I continued chewing and there was a staple thing in my bite. My colleagues said it looks like its from the metal sponges. Anyways, I am horrified by my experience. Do better and don't let this happen again with your future customers.

Place a delivery order when it arrived both consommes were leaking. It was so severe that the bag was completely soaked and ripped leaving puddles of broth on the table, little pieces of meat of meat and cilantro all over the foil covering the empanadas. I reached out to the restaurant and was basically told that they wrapped the consomme three times so that it does not leak, it was only wrapped one time, and that It’s the fault of the carrier because they were on a bike and could’ve been speeding; because he was previously a courier and drinks with spill when he would speed over bumps, and that’s what happened. won’t be ordering again.
