I ama native of Brooklyn and I am the biggest fan of old school neighborhood bars and boy this is both! This is my favorite Bar in Brooklyn and one of my top 10 favorite bars in New York City. Sadly I moved out of NYC but when visiting I always go back to Old Stanley's.

The music on this here night, October 21, 2023, is absolutely immaculate. This is the playlist I’m looking for at the club. Whoever is in charge of music is absolutely eating. Period.

Old Stan's is a bar you take your friends to when you want them to experience what it's like to live in your neighborhood. It's no frills, the bartenders are good people, the drinks are strong, and the music is loud.

This place is a gem. A chill, dive(ish) bar with a variety of beverages, good prices and great service.

The Wyckoff Ave area home to drug induced comatose idiots and way too many convenience stores now has a shining pillar of the community besides Sosa Electronics. Old Stanley's brings to mind a comfortable place... warm, inviting and soft yet firm. Like having your head nestled in a good set of jugs. Somewhere you can hang out with friends, meet new ones and have a great time. The bar has a pretty awesome floor which was the first thing I noticed upon walking in. I was greeted by a wonderful, happy and smiling bartender Clarissa? Not sure but she not only is so nice but hot as well. Definitely hard to find bartenders like her in this city, (she should be a keeper management.) The beer out of the tap was cold and flowed well into the 3-4 beer range by the time we were done. Had a great talk with the bartender about comedians, she knows her stuff. They also have a classic Playboy pinball, buckhunter type game and an old school photobooth!! Talking 4 shot strip, black and white, so retro not even your grandmother has one. The guy saying the bartenders threw him out? Probably because he is a douche Yelp employee who thinks the world owes him his podium for his petty reviews. No bartender is going to throw you out of the bar unless you are a stuck up hipster jerk to start off. Rather not have you hipsters in this place, you bring the class down.

This bar is, like, amazing. I love it because it's a bar's bar and isn't trying to be flashy, obscure, or "cool". The seats at the bar practically hug you into staying out longer than you should, the pinball machine is Playboy themed, and they even have Duck Hunt. DUCK HUNT. There are darts too, which I haven't played yet (but will), as well as tabletop Pac Man. The lights are a solid touch, reminding me of my old college-town bar (The Deadwood, Iowa City, Iowa), which also has pinball and Duck Hunt. Last year I remember there was a petition to have a back patio area, and am sad to say it hasn't happened yet. More people need to sign this! OK, also (in response to the turd who gave this spot 1 star and called out the bartender) I have always found the bartender to be an excellent dude! Definitely come.

THE classic dive bar! Actually like the easiest most reliable spot for a beer and a dog. Cute ($5) Photo Booth, GREAt backyard patio area and just easy nice vibes in there. Bartenders are… kinda rude sometimes but in the normal dive bar way lol. Cash only and the ATM never works how u want it to, there’s an ATM across the street that’s way more reliable. This bar is fantastic. I first noticed it 5 years ago and have gone there sparingly for no particular reason. It's pretty large with very ample seating and a nice yard too. The old style wood bar decor is very nice and comfortable. It's not a dive bar but feels as chill as any dive bar I've been to. They sell hot dogs which is a great bar food when you just want a quick bite to stave off hunger while you keep drinking. Their selection of beer is great. Besides the decor that another way you know it's not a dive bar. Of course they offer all the fine liquors you would expect to find in a well stocked bar. This place can get hopping or certain nights. I have experienced it recently. It almost feels like a club. I will be making my visits more frequently especially on the 3rd Friday of the month. A great DJ jams on that night and the vibe gets even better as a result. All the bartenders are professional and, dare I say, attractive. Locals love this place and tourists should come check it out for a real authentic Bushwick Brooklyn Bar experience.

Came her for a relaxed night with friends, left with memories for a lifetime. The bartender, Jim, made us feel right at home. Attending to us immediately once we sat at the bar. He offered us the drink specials and gave us a shot on top. The outdoor area is beautiful, spacious, and more than enough to keep larger parties occupied. Highly recommend this bar for any occasion. Come in, let f****** loose, and make some memories.

Hands down the best bar in bushwick. There are actual adults that hang out here, it’s not full of young kids who don’t know how to act in public. It’s a locals bar so keeping a low profile is the move. The drinks are cheap, the patrons are kind and the bartenders are awesome.

I popped in for a quick drink while exploring the neighborhood and found it to be a most pleasant watering hole. They have a nice patio at the rear where you can sip a drink while inside there are a few arcade games. This is a cash only bar, so plan ahead.

I showed up at 1:30am for a few drinks by myself. The bartender was lovely, and so was her choice in music. Coincidentally, once I arrived the bartender turned off the jukebox and played songs she personally enjoyed; it was an excellent decision. She played lots of late 90's and early 2000's screamo/metalcore/hardcore, and I was all for it. Not usually my type of music, but close enough for me to appreciate her selection. Drinks are reasonably priced and the pours are reasonably heavy handed (if you're nice, it's likely you'll get a free drink). If you like arcade games, sitting & drinking, and standing & drinking you'll absolutely love this place.

One of my favorites in the area. Cheap drinks, amazing service, and a really cool looking bar. Big booths for larger groups and smaller tables for a little date pre-dinner or after-dinner drink. Big back patio for the warmer temperatures or if you have to smoke. Two bathrooms which is nice. During the day you can take advantage of the awesome skylight natural lighting.

Cool local bar in Bushwick which I always call Flat Stanley's, because, well, let's be honest, it should be called that. Always have great beers on tap and the fact that they make mixed drinks in pint glasses is pretty bad ass. Hangout, get drunk, and while your at it try and get a new high score on the Playboy pinball machine.

Great ambience, delicious signature drink (root beer 'n vanilla vodka - like a slightly boozy, lighter root beer float), good prices, friendly bartenders, and a shuffleboard table/signature bar arcade games. If you're in the vicinity, it's worth the stop.

It's a cash bar, so be prepared. There's a decent backyard with tables and benches. Karaoke Tuesdays are the main reason I go. Most of the bartenders are total sweethearts. Befriend them by tipping well and frequently and they might just take a shine to you. The bathrooms like 99% of all dive bars are absolutely horrific. I find it astonishing that any bar in Brooklyn passes a health inspection. As mentioned in other reviews of dives, I have no appreciation of graffiti and vandalism, and even less of property destruction and disgusting bathroom conditions. Other than that, it's a great bar! I think they allow dogs. There's a dart lane towards the front, plus a Big Buck Hunter and a photo booth near the bathrooms. There's a TV which is situated oddly in a corner above a low hanging bar lamp. I would recommend it for those with a high threshold for disgusting divebar bathrooms.

I don't know if they serve food or anything but it generally feels good to be there and the staff is fair. I could see myself coming back. Plenty of cool stuff to see there and around.

The music was far too loud for a Wednesday night of people just hanging out, but the drink prices were pretty solid.

Few night ago I wanted a shot. I caught them right when they were about to close but he let me in anyways. Definitely gave me rock star vibes from the music and decor. I hate that it was cash only bar but the shots were $5. Had 3 and went about my night. Not a bad pit stop.

Meh. Heard a lot about this place, didn't get the hype. Drinks were fine, nothing to write home about. Bartender didn't seem particularly interested in serving anyone. They have a small patio in the back which is nice. If you're in the neighborhood and thirsty, why not?

I love this place BUT one of the bartenders on 7.3.19 had serious attitude. After commenting how me and my friend looked "awfully young" (be that as it may, I didn't come here for comments on my appearance) she promptly handed us our beers, cracked them open, and after I paid, rudely said "you know, it works to tip your bartender." Tip for what? Cracking a couple beers? My ass. I already would have tipped if I had cash, but as it was I gave my last extra dollar to my girlfriend earlier TO TIP WITH. My friend, who I was paying for, ended up feeling pressured to give away his own last couple dollars to tip this unpleasant person. I have much more adult-sounding words I could use, but apparently I don't look old enough to use them. Seriously, if you have to ask to be tipped after ONLY pulling two beers from a fridge and cracking them open, the problem is not your customers... It's your attitude.

With all the kitschy and tchotchke is basically a TGI Fridays. Where the servers (sometimes after a lonog wait) are adorned with flare …. Basically tattoos and $200 vintage thrifted carheartt overalls. But I scored a $4 beer. That was authentic. And the music selection was solid. But the “bartenders” never been to a bar that wasn’t “craft-cocktail experience” or Epcot center. And it shows. Ain’t a NY’er to be found But the beer was cheep …. But I think they ment that to be ironic

Cash only is a definite deterrent. Last couple times I was there there were loud groups. Maybe I'm getting old but I'm not a huge fan of having to yell to be heard, there are other bars in the area that are loud but not deafening. Big Buck Hunter machine is always busted and there's no sign telling you that. Wasted $5 and the bar wouldn't refund.

Objectively, this is an average bar. They serve hot dogs, good for them. I'm rating it 1 star however because I just had an awful interaction with a bartender, the owner apparently. He literally told my friend and I to "get the f*u&k out of my bar" because we hadn't tipped him yet. We had each gotten 2 beers and paid cash, were intending on getting more and tipping when we left, of course. He called us out for not tipping and tried to kick us out after complaining that we were "taking up space at his bar". I tipped him $2 and he literally threw it back across the bar on the floor. I'm not lying, I couldn't imagine a worse bar owner/bartender. Don't bother getting harassed at this bar, just go down the street to the Boobie Trap.

The bar staff are so rude here - honestly like it was like me and my friend were invisible. They were laughing and joking behind the bar while us and others were just standing there waiting to be served. Absolute joke. We moved onto the neighbours bar, Talon where we were served immediately and by friendly bar staff! I wouldn’t go here if you were thirsty or in a hurry, or wanted to be served at all!
