"Purveyor of Good Vibes" is the objective and they crushed it! Ingrid, our server was outstanding she helped us choose drinks, apps and our entre. As first time paytrons we really appreciated her understanding of the menu and creating a memorable experience, the flavors, textures, aromatics, it was a series of flavor bombs. The presentation invites you to dive into your meal, we will definitely make the trip for truly authentic Ethiopian cuisine.
Loved this place! We ordered a platter for two- so many flavors, everything was incredibly tasty. The nachos were a great starter, and the lentil burger was absolutely delicious!! Our server was very attentive (sadly forgot his name), drinks were amazing too. Cozy atmosphere, dim lighting, not noisy at all. perfect spot to enjoy with your people. Will definitely be back ✨
Enjoyed Sunday brunch here. The cocktails were strong and tasty! So I had two of the 'About Last Night' (Bourbon, passionfruit, lemon, bitters). 😂 We had the chef special and mercato, which was the perfect amount of food for two. Ethiopian food is one of my favorites, so I came in somewhat skeptical that this vegan joint would be as good. And no joke, it's the best Ethiopian restaurant I've ever been to. Can't wait to visit again.
My first visit to Ras and all of my senses were pleased. Firstly the staff (Crystal and Ingrid) were welcoming and friendly. They were knowledgeable about the menu and gave great and tasty recommendations. The art on the walls OMG!! So beautiful….. Now let’s talk about the food. That what we came for….Something to consider is I was jus coming off a fast. It was day 2, so to say that my taste buds were In heaven is an understatement. We had the lentil dip for starters….. 5 stars! It came with injera CHIPS!! Game changer!! Then we tried the samosas. Crystal recommended the Kafti (I think I spelled it wrong but check out the menu for yaself) I’m not a big soy eater so I decided on the 3 samosas lentil veggie and squash. All were delicious but the squash was my fave. I had the lentil burger for my entree and it did not disappoint!! The layers of flavors from the toasted bun the cheese the sauce the lentil patty the greens were so YUMMMM… Next up….. was ….. the ….. dessert!!! O M G coconut leche….. I’m drooling jus thinking about it. And the berry cheesecake oh my!! The layers of flavors were jus scrumptious…. When I tell you I took my time with that thing!!! So good!! For drinks we had the Crown Heights Queen…. Non alcoholic watermelon ginger with mint. Tasty but it was a lil too icy for me…. Btw it was like 5 degrees outside so I opted for sumthn warm to drink and Crystal recommended the hibiscus chai tea….. it was so delicious not too sweet just a nice warm hug on my inside parts. To say I injoyed everything is not saying enough…. I will be back and I’m bringing friends!! See yall soon Bless UP!!
As soon as you walk in the aromas of the African spices hit your nose n boy is it incredible! Ingrid was our lovely server. She recommended the BASIL INSTINCT: which was the best drink I’ve had all year. For appetizer, my bestie (who previously visited) recommended the KITFO SAMBUSA which literally tasted like ground beef but somehow it wasn’t lol. How do they do that? By far, the best dish was my bestie’s dish: SHASHAMANE BOWL. It was so good that I ordered a plate to go. This is the way vegetables are supposed to taste like! I promise you that you won’t miss the meat with this one! Jam packed with flava! Owner of Ras please consider opening a location in westchester. 🙏🏼 We need more vegan options over here. ❤️ Thanks guys! Until next time.
From Texas my friend who lives here loved it and recommended so we came. It was my first time eating Ethiopian food and it did not disappoint. The spices, the flavor, the temperature 10000/10000 i wanted to savor every bite. The portions were decent i took half home. That vegan Mac n cheese is a dream truly! Our server was patient. Very intimate beautiful atmosphere. That drink was immature!! I was tipsy off one which I loved!!!! Not water down and the taste and name was soooo cuteeeee
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Ras Plant Based – aka the Purveyors of Vibes 🌈 Ras Plant Based is one of those spots that keeps pulling you back in. I’ve been here multiple times: both dining in and ordering takeout, and it never disappoints. The food is vibrant, fresh, and full of flavor. The injera is soft and perfect, the lentils and veggies are seasoned beautifully, and every dish feels made with real care and authentically Ethiopian. The vibe inside is warm and inviting, with staff who are always kind and genuinely happy to help you navigate the menu. Whether you’re vegan or just exploring, it’s an easy place to feel at home. And here’s the pro tip: pickup is quick. If you’re hungry and need something delicious right away, this is your cheat code. Their orders almost always come out faster than the estimated time. It’s the kind of spot that becomes part of your weekly rhythm: reliable, flavorful, and always there when you need a little Ethiopian comfort from the neighborhood.
Ethiopian restaurant with platters, sandwiches, and intimate lighting. We got the mercato platter which had 10 different veggie/lentil dishes alongside a couple injera. I felt the flavors were pretty authentic based on my previous experiences and would definitely recommend this spot for Ethiopian cravings.
Loved the platter options and so perfect for sharing with three of us for an early dinner before heading on to meet up with more friends. The daal and beans were really stand out, though oddly on the sweeter, more savory side. The injera chips were really interesting and the first time I’ve seen that! Definitely enjoyed.
Went in not knowing what I wanted and I was not disappointed with the meal nor the suggestions. I got the mushroom sandwich with a salad and my kind server recommended the Sorrel Iced Chai. Everything was amazing! Also, I love the art & ambiance of the space! Will definitely return on my next visit to NY.
Ras Plant Based is hands down one of the best plant-based restaurants I’ve ever been to. The flavors are bold, fresh, and authentic—every dish we tried was a hit! The injera was perfectly tangy and soft, and the variety in the sampler platter gave us a great taste of what Ras has to offer. You can tell everything is made with care. A special shoutout to Ingrid, our server, who made the experience even better. She was warm, attentive, and gave us fantastic recommendations. Her energy really matched the vibe of the restaurant—welcoming and full of life. If you're looking for vibrant Ethiopian-inspired vegan cuisine and a staff that treats you like family, Ras is a must-visit. Can’t wait to come back!
Most amazing food I’ve ever had and it’s so unique! The balance of spices is on point and is impeccable! I’m from The Bronx and I go there to enjoy the delicious food at this place and Ras plant based is highly recommended! The lady named Ingrid was so helpful explaining the menu and was so friendly! Outside sitting feels different and whole vibes! Thank you!
Amazing experience at this place! The plant-based French toast was incredible! The staff were very friendly and attentive. What really impressed us, though, was the owner - who I didn't even realize was the owner at first! He was sitting nearby, working on something, and struck up a conversation with us without being intrusive or sales-y. His warmth and genuine nature. Always crowded, but the team handles it with ease. Highly recommend!" 5⭐️
Just went today and I have to tell you all about it. Loved this place!!! The decor and design was so dope. Clean. The food was even better, so tasty! I devoured it lol Staff is super friendly and professional. Excellent customer service from Ingrid who is super patient and went over the menu with us! Harry getting us our delicious drinks, presentation immaculate! C/Korey greeting and seating us right away! I hit up some friends to tell them about it and they’ve been several times already. It’s so good! I will definitely be back!! I wish I would have took an extra dish to go! Thanks again!
Had a wonderful time here! We came at a time that wasn’t busy and got this very lovely seat that was indoors but at the very edge. However, both the indoors and outside are lovely spaces. All the food was delicious and I didn’t have a bad bite. The injera here is some of the best I’ve had. It really has that sourdough taste and it’s truly perfect with all the curries and veggies. We got the sambusas, ras tibs, and mercato platter. I absolutely love all the little bites you get to make for yourself, mixing and matching everything. The sambusas had these wonderfully crispy skins, and we really couldn’t decide which filling we liked best. I just wish the portions were a touch bigger, especially for the ras tibs (which I’m still thinking about!)
I love Ras, I’ve been here so many times! One thing that frustrates me however is the portion size, especially for their brunch. This is not a fine dining experience, it’s a creative approach to Ethiopian food - so why is the portion so tiny?? You have to order to main entrees to leave satisfied. It’s really inappropriate to be this stingy considering the price point. This meal is off the Ras brunch menu, it was so tasty but it’s something you eat in 5 bites for $21. So disappointing if you want to save your appetite for their brunch.
I went to RAS for brunch with my girl friends. The French toast was out of this world. My Ethiopian iced coffee latte was soo yummy. Our server Eddie was so funny, knowledgeable about the menu and very hospitable. A note if you are ordering the potato hash, they aren’t super soft. If you are like me and only like soft potatoes, ask for them to be well done. Sambusas were delicious
Heard a lot of great things about RAS and glad we finally came by. We ordered some of the most popular items on the menu and everything was delicious. As far as Ethiopian cuisine, the food is just okay. We’ve had other Ethiopian vegetarian dishes which had a bit more of a wow factor to it. I love the vibe inside and the people are wonderful here. It’s a great place to try something new out and get some delicious drinks. Would highly recommend stopping by and trying this place out if you haven’t yet.
Please try to visit and support ras plant based, since they just got into a fire in their West Village location, they have another location in Brooklyn. Their food is really great and they have great hospitality. This was my first time trying Ethiopian food, and I finally was able to try their renowned platter with inerja. I really liked their lentil curry, but the inerja and okra was very sour and had a bitter tinge to it. Their fries were absolutely amazing and flavorful, that was my favorite part of the meal. Their bowl was also really great and flavorful. I love how everything was vegan and plant based, which is phenomenal! The decoration was also very colorful and vibrant. The servers were also very informative and extremely friendly. It wasn’t crowded at all when I went in, but it does get more crowded as it gets late into the night. The place is big and there is a lot of space inside the restaurant. Please try to support and donate to them so they can recover their West Village location from the fire, and get back into business! Next time I have to try their Mac and cheese and get their Cajun fries again. It’s also not too pricey here, and they have pretty good portion sizes here, dishes are around $20-$30. Price: $20-30💸 Rating: 8/10
10/5/25 1:00pm I had an overall satisfactory experience. The server greeted me nicely and everything started well. The French toast was amazing and the potatoes hash was awesome. However, no one checked in with me to see if I needed anything, but that's acceptable. I would give this a 5-star rating if the black manager wasn't too sassy. As I dined, I had bags nearby, and the manager's abrupt tone suggested I should move them immediately. Upon completing my meal, I requested to pay in cash to provide a cash gratuity. However, the manager indicated they didn't have sufficient change. I questioned how I would've paid if I only had cash on hand. The manager then approached me with a dismissive attitude, stating they couldn't provide change, leaving me no choice but to use my card. The way he was talking to me was very rude maybe because I’m a black person and he’s a black Manager so it was OK for him to talk to me like that, but I overlooked when he was talking to white people and he wasn’t talking to them like that, so my point is if the sassy black manager wasn’t there, my experience would have been awesome so I went outside to the store and got change so I can tip the server and not the manager
