Opinions de The Bearded Lady Brooklyn
Love this bar! It's got a super cute retro vibe, and the bar tenders have never disappointed me. The outdoor seating and pool table are nice perks for a neighborhood bar :)
The Hot Cidar with Tim is exactly what's needed to get through these chilly days. They have some of the best hot dogs I've eaten since childhood. They are very attentive, polite, and cooked my hot hog until it busted open the Arkansas way. Will be back
The beverages ("killer GOOD") MY SERVER WAS AGOOD SERVER AS WELL .food wise they can do better .especially the taco chips... Cold cheese and chips and NO SOUR CREAM, nor or hot sauce .The picadillo should have been more to enable a good dip. "DIPPING" from a real dippers opinion....but that atmosphere has alot of good vibes..I might hch r add. ( again in my opinion)
Great, creative, strong drinks and bar munchies at good prices. seriously, the pile of nachos we got for $13 was an insanely good deal for brooklyn. the vibes of this bar are also amazing. Definitely coming back!
Lee is the absolute best! Extremely personable, composed, charismatic, and just a joy to be around. Thank you!
DREW!!!! What an amazing guy. This place has an amazing ambiance. Mondy was our bartender and she. made amazing drinks for us, and also entertained us as well. She was very serious about providing a 5 star experience! Please come and tip well!!!!
The server was very helpful and friendly. It such a cute spot! Their drinks were soooo yummy. I forgot what I had but it was banana and creamy 😍😍
Popular place for drinks with lots of outdoor seating. I had the bloody Mary which was good and the best soft pretzel with horseradish sauce. I regret not taking that horseradish sauce home with me!
Great place for hanging out with friends after hours. Didn't order food, but the drinks are awesome. Relaxed vibes with a younger clientele.
We went here for a happy hour on a awful rainy NYC day and were very happy! The serves were so kind and the drinks were on point. Strong too. Perfect for a little pit stop
This is my new summer spot. I popped in and out of here previously but lately it just seems like my go to bar. It has a great happy hour with oysters, nice drinks and all around good vibe.
I've been coming here off and on for years. It's a solid local spot for good drinks. You can get cozy and hangout up front or bring a large group of friends in the back. Attentive friendly staff with a good sense of what service means.
Been coming here for happy hour for many years. I absolutely love everything about this place - super friendly staff, chill vibe, beer cheese, oysters, and of course AMAZING cocktails!
Such a fun and awesome place! The atmosphere is really made by the servers who are so kind and just excellent at their jobs. Would recommend the aperol spritz!
One of my all-time all-around favorite bars. Incredible cocktails, great beer/wine selection, and fantastic grilled cheese sandwiches and oysters. Usually an interesting crowd with top notch bartenders.
The cocktails are made great!! Great atmosphere! Pool table. The owner is awesome as well!! Always has a great attitide and serves his customers well as he works the bar
A hip and casual cocktail bar with a subtle 70s space age vibe. Highly recommended for their daily happy hour for cheap cocktails and dollar oysters, among other things. Dates will be impressed. Cash only.
Been going to The Beard consistently for a while for a few reasons. 1. The food is pretty amazing considering they don't have a real kitchen. I absolutely love the nachos and Chicago dogs. 2. They have solid bears on tap and in cans....love Montauk. 3. They have a pool table. 4. Plenty of places to sit at the bar or around the perimeter. Highly recommend this spot.
Nice selection of cocktails for all tastes (try the Ruby Dee), select wines and beers, too. Here, oysters are served 7 days a week. Pool table in the back (if that interests you). It's particularly nice in the evening as the dimly lit atmosphere creates an intimate feel. Order at the bar, as there is no table service.
This has an urban beachy vibe that I love. Amazing cocktails + my favorite drink of all time (Strong Roots). The best nachos. Good music.
Had a great first experience at this lovely bar last night. The staff were very friendly, the vibe was laid back, and the atmosphere was casual but chic. I had this super strong cocktail with 3 rums, which was very reasonably priced. would definitely recommend!!
Really nice atmosphere for going out with friends. Good beers, really good cocktails and great music. There is also some outdoor sitting. In general I found it a bit pricey but it looks like the area is getting popular for outings.
Amazing cocktails!! The food is really good too, their nachos are incredible. My only complaint is they need to hire more wait staff for when it gets busy, but I understand there are labor shortages right now.
A very nice bar with a retro vibe, very nuclear family. The bartenders (on a Saturday night!) were absurdly nice. The bat curves around almost the entirety of the space, but in the very back hidden from view is a pool table with a small nook for spectators. Straight back before the bar curves is a larger nook with a table and wrap around couch - you can reserve this space FOR FREE! We went for a birthday party. They also provided food (not free) which was surprisingly healthy: radish and carrots on ice with lite ranch, among other less healthy things (nachos). I would definitely return for another drink, but the ginger prince was far too tart and sweet for my taste :-/ still a nice cocktail if you like sweet ones.
Great bar with a fun aesthetic and awesome drinks. Always enjoy my time there. Try a ‘John the Beachcomber’—you won’t be disappointed!
Skilled bartenders. Tasty cocktails. Pool table. Good vibes in general. Highly recommend. Shoutout to all the staff. Professional and friendly.
The vibe here is causal, but high energy. Really phenomenal cocktails, solid beer menu. They have billiards, and for the World Cup they throw on a big screen. A pretty perfect bar for the kind of neighborhood it's in.
Solid drinks, the best local watering hole around. Good energy/vibe/scene. Great spot to go with a lot of friends, or after work during the summer.
Very cool place, great location and atmosphere, drinks are very strong and pricey but so worth it to go with a nice set of friends.
Great place to play some pool and down some IPAs. There's a chalkboard in the back to wait in queue for the table and easy to chat with locals.
Amazing Bar, Best everything, martinis & cocktails are great here and the owners, bartenders, manager, and servers keep everything Super Safe. Best pool table in Brooklyn, delicious snacks, and if they could remember to put the mop in the champagne room it might be easier to quickly mop up the broken glasses that happen every once in a while. I’m a Singer, distiller and a cocktail designer on Wall St now from Hudson NY, been in BK for a long time and also worked here, started training as bartender @15 years old, Upstate. Love it, keep coming back and keep your friends safe.
Fantastic neighborhood bar. Great drink menu, always chill in there, food, pool table, just all around nice bar
The people that work at the bar are lovely and genuinely take care of the patrons. Really nice cocktails and good snack type foods. Relaxed atmosphere. **if there is a cocktail with a 2 drink order limit, believe it! They are potent. Stay safe ;)
Very excellent drink recipes - love their use of fruits and vegs and bitters! Friendly and fun decor
The Bearded Lady has very good cocktails, including both originals and classics. The service was good and my friend and I were able to get seats at the bar on a Saturday night, which was great. Overall, this is a fun cocktail bar.
Dope bar in prospect heights. Retro 50s diner style decor. plenty of beers on tap along with canned options. Creative cocktails. Delicious snacks. Great staff. Solid happy hour, including dollar oysters. Pool table in the back. Awesome music. Stumble in.
the best local bar in the neighborhood. the drinks and the nachos always hit the spot ♥️
favorite bar in the area Great drinks, great staff- always a good vibe and the nachos are 💯
Really yummy and creative drinks, reasonably priced for the level of thought put in, the food is good too; great alongside the drinks so you can pace yourself and drink more! The staff is attentive and friendly, especially Phoebe, the blonde server/bartender. She really is the best, no ifs ands or buts about it!
This bar offers a fantastic selection of drinks and exudes a great vibe overall. Make sure to drop by in the evening for a fun time. The pretzel made for a delicious snack, and everything was served promptly. I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu options!
Just a great hangout spot, in the best old Brooklyn tradition, with a twist and very well crafted cocktails. Best of all is the Pool Table, still at a buck per game. You feel like you are transported to a different world.
Tan was amazing! He handled the bar and tables. He was great with recommending drink. The Fever Pêche was amazing!! We orders pretzels, grilled cheese & nachos. Tan made our nachos with so much love. He layered it so well so every chip had everything to on it. I’ll definitely be back!
Really lovely service and attentive server, great atmosphere and drinks as well.
Went to a friend's birthday celebration. They had small area in the back reserved for us. The drink menu is expansive and inventive. The Burning Bush drink was worth the trip!
While not looking for a cocktail place the extreme heat wave forced us to make a stop. This place looked the most interesting on Google Maps and glad we picked it. The server was great, he made banging suggestions and it felt like he was really vibing with all the tables he served including ours. There was plenty of space in the venue and did not feel claustrophobic. Onto the cocktails- the ginger one was a little spicer than what I wanted on a hot day but the beachcomber, and on the sever's recommendation, the Ted damson were fantastic. We even did two of the Ted ones and it looked like it was the favorite of the tables around us.
Short answer: definitely worth a visit! Longer answer: we popped in for an afternoon cocktail and my first impression of the Bearded Lady was the wonderful color scheme that felt tropical, perhaps something from southern Florida. The vibe required me to order a rum based drink, but my girlfriend had a glass of excellent red wine and I had to honor my Nordic roots and try their “Dill or no dill” which was an aquavit based cocktail.. you don’t really see too many of those in the US so naturally I had to try it. I’ll say this, having grown up on the Swedish west coast, I’ve had my fair share of aquavit variations, but this cocktail was so incredibly good it’s the only thing I’m choosing to focus this review on. That cocktail in itself is well worth the visit! Other than that, the staff was super friendly, it was a clean place, their cocktails were strong and delicious. Well worth a visit!
Gotta love a good bar like Bearded lady! Great seats outside to watch the traffics drive by. Funny little pool table in the back and some jazzy cocktails up front. Not a bad spot to stop for a drink while doing some much needed laundry around the Corner! Had all the papers you could want!
Casual ambiance, good for hangouts and dates in Crown Heights. Cash-only bar. They have the best Nachos (this is not in the menu but ask the bartender if you want one).
Great spot for cocktails. The bartenders are friendly. They have a pool table on the back. There is a small corner spot that is near the bathroom, I believe it is suppose to be a make out spot. It is in the corner and during the summer they open it up to the sidewalk.
This bar is a great find in the neighborhood. It's good for groups, or even a first date (a couple nooks and crannies to hide out in). And a pool table in the back adds a little bit of fun if you want to do more than just drink
The drinks were okay and the hot dog was surprisingly good served without ketcup...owner's rules. The menu needs some more options not the traditional bar food.
Very nice spot. Fun to shoot some pool, good tiki drinks, knowledgable bartenders, and kind staff. The vibe has changed over the years and not all for the better: it can get pretty loud and obnoxious in here as almost every weekend there seems to be a Park Slope wedding reception. It can get a little fratty and tables are often hard to come by, but if you find a quiet night, it's a great bar to hang out at.
This is my Friday happy hour spot. I don't even really know what their happy hour deal is (I just like to go there) but it is chill, and super close to home and the bartenders are nice. Also on the weekends, a great $30 oyster and beer deal starting at 3pm. And it's not just blue point oysters either - I've had kusshis and kumamotos as well. Not exactly a hidden gem, but it's a nice surprise to have this in my neighborhood.
Great atmosphere for drinks and conversation. Delicious craft cocktails about $10/ea. decent food at a great price. Had a great time. Nice for a date or a social gathering with a few friends. Be careful, seating was limited .
Very cozy spot. The drink with 3 rums is super delicious but strong so be careful lol. Not much options on the happy hour menu in regards to food but the service was great and the crowd was friendly and welcoming. Would definitely go back.
Cool spot. Couple of signature cocktails. Billiards table in the back is well as a lounge area. The bar has plenty of seating as well as booth and table seating in the front. Windows in the front make for sound good people watching.
I’ve long been a fan of Bearded Lady, however I think they’ve recently become a bit too busy. What once was a local watering hole has turned into something of an attraction for folks in Central Brooklyn, which can make it hard to get a seat. Frustratingly, people sometimes hog the pool table which was one of the major draws of the bar. Though the bar tried to ameliorate that problem by putting a sign up board near the table, some groups have everyone write their name down on the board so they can play several games in a row. Otherwise, the cocktails remain excellent, and the staff is very friendly.
Music was a little loud, so we felt like we had to talk louder. But the decor is cute and makes it feel homey and it's a fun bar. Drinks are $13/$15, as expected for the city so not too bad, but not cheap.
First off, Bearded Lady is truly an after work spot especially for the lucky few who get out of work at 3:00pm -4:00pm. The drinks are strong, just as I like it. The food menu is limited--what they do have is good enough in taste and presentation. We had nachos with black beans and some other stuff maybe white cheddar in a tangy sauce--it was fine, it balanced out the strength of the liquor. The bartender was just chill--she was not friendly but not rude either. My wife felt that she was not engaging--or more accurately she did not engage us. I agree. It's an okay spot. Might not go back anytime soon though.
Good service & decent drinks. Drinks and food came out fast. There were a couple employees who were working as bartenders/servers but also playing on the pool table with customers which was a little odd. The drinks were decent— the menu is creative and the drinks are strong, but were pretty one-note in terms of flavor. The grilled cheese was delicious— the addition of pickles was fun.
This place was a suggested as a last minute date spot. Better for drinks but not so much for food. You grab a quick bite here. Music here was VERY on point which caught me off guard because it was a Monday. If you're getting your night started, it's a go to
This place has a cool interior design and a fun concept, however the drinks are actually bad and the service is slow. The drinks tasted bad, whether it was too sweet, watered down, or just a poor flavor profile. We went on a weekday, so maybe we caught them on a bad night.
I want to like this place more than I do—the cocktails are good...if you can get a bartender's attention (or don't mind waiting, like, 10 minutes for it to actually get made, since they're always slammed). Getting the bill at the end of the night is even harder. There are other cocktail spots in the neighborhood that just do it better.
Good bar and good drinks and they have a pool table which is nice. But there are a few trash shooters who will steal quarters when you aren't looking so overall a bad place to go if you want to play pool.
This place was just okay! The drinks were okay nothing spectacular as was the Chicago hotdogs with the accepting of the bun that it was on which was great. The service was quite fast though it was a pretty full house. The ambiance is Extremely loud, so this will not be a quiet evening oyt. The patrons are noisy ,bartenders taking shots at the bar out of the bottles. The decor was nice for theme I believe 50s .
Not my favorite place. The room is beautiful but several times I have ordered the same cocktail two times in a row and they tasted completely different. I watched the bartender not measure a single thing. For the price, please make consistent beverages.
Came here for one drink by myself and upon ordering I got asked by a male server for a card for a tab …I would love for someone to rectify this cause I didn’t see any other groups asked this . Maybe I missed it ?😂 it was odd and turned me off , I sat at a table .. not even the bar. I’ll also mentioned I got glared at a few times by that server before even sitting when I was at the door. Overall it was a weird vibe in the beginning.. the drink was good . Space didn’t really feel too welcoming .
Cocktails are good. Service is slow. I had multiple drinks I didn’t order on my bill and had some back and forth with the bar to right it. Main gripe - I came here with 3 other friends to play pool altogether, and there was a regular monopolizing the pool table who wouldn’t let us play together. I get it you won and want to challenge the next person but could you just sit out for one turn? Just made it so awkward.
The environment was great, however the cocktails were poorly mixed. We had a frozen drink that was mostly rum flavored, which might sound good if looking for bang-for-buck, but was ultimately hard to drink. Otherwise their cocktails wandered from too sweet to too watered down. Good place for a quick drink, but just get a draft beer. Prices were consistent with most Brooklyn bars.
Congratulations your happy hour has allowed you to sell a regular priced beer lol
Low lights, very grey, not accessible. Limited seating, recommended to book in advance. Food and drinks not tasty. But a lot of cool young professionals
Nice venue to chill and unwind a bit 👍 Good ambiance with comfortable seating. The bar is situated in the middle, making it easy to order drinks. The drinks are done ✅ nicely and not watered down. Actually got a nice buzz after the first drink. Could use a single large ice cube to enhance the experience. Outdoor seating is a plus and so is the pool table. The red wine was a letdown and not many options…
So my 2 stars comes with some explanation. I’ve been to this bar for over a year and I’ve always had a great experience. They’ve got great food and drinks and a nice atmosphere. I’ve been waited on by some lovely staff members there as well. Today was different. Just finished watching a World Cup game and came away feeling confused and angry. It was crowded and quite busy and we were having trouble getting the server’s attention, although we totally understood that it was super busy and the staff was working hard. I asked my boyfriend to get her attention to order some water and food. While seated, he turned around and gently tapped on her shoulder. Her reaction was totally bizarre. She came to our table a minute later and snapped at him, saying that “he made her feel uncomfortable” because “he touched her with out consent” and she stormed away. I was surprised and offended by the alleged inappropriate conduct. I walked up to her and explained how surprised we both were and how it upset me to have my boyfriend accused of something wrong when really he was only acting in a normal manner to get a servers attention in a busy bar. She then abandoned our table for the rest of the 45 minutes we were there. I tried to speak to a manager and but then he suggested that we close our tab. I wish he had mediated in a more productive way. I’m happy & proud that the #metoo era has given women the opportunity and safe space to speak up when they are wrongly treated. However, to suggest that inappropriate touching has occurred when it has not only weakens the very real harm that can be caused when actual misconduct takes place. I’m bummed that I won’t be going back to Bearded Lady again. It’s too bad that an innocent gesture for service was blown so out of proportion.
Food and drinks? Hated everything. Service eh Atmosphere - they keep skipping good songs Good open area, great for summer but only go here for meh drinks!
PRETENTIOUS STAFF They forgot our food and shots and then blamed it on us being too drunk so wanting to wait to serve us. Bizarre experience. When decided to just close out and asked about it I’m told “That’s part of the job” weird we only had a few drinks it’s only 5pm and we’re grown adults but okay…thanks for leaving a bad taste
It’s super sad because this place genuinely has good cocktails. They have a pool table in the back and they allow childish and frankly embarrassing pool playing regulars to monopolize the space and heckle other people who want to play/customers.
Was meeting a friend there never been and would never go again. Don't get me wrong the bartender was friendly and efficient but the people there were cold and territorial. Just knew my presences was not wanted there at all. Glad they had Persecco not many place have it.
I had an abysmal experience here over the weekend, and I cannot in good conscience recommend it to anyone until there’s a major overhaul of employee training and behavior. While my group and I were peacefully seated at a table, one of our friends closed her eyes and put her head down due to fatigue. Without warning, one of the servers violently shook her from behind and barked at her to wake up or leave. It's important to emphasize that we’d only ordered 1 round of drinks at this point and were in control. The server didn't even attempt to speak with us before physically intervening. Instead, we were left feeling shocked, uncomfortable, and unsafe. To make matters worse, when we tried to address the incident with the server, she was shockingly rude and hostile, displaying a complete lack of professionalism and basic human decency. If violently shaking a tired patron is the first response of this establishment's employees, then they have no place in the service industry. It was a show of arrogance, disrespect, and incompetence that no paying customer should ever have to endure. It’s clear that our safety and well-being weren’t a priority for this establishment. It's a shame because we’d heard decent things about this bar, but our experience was anything but positive. I implore anyone reading to think twice before giving Bearded Lady your business until they take major steps to address these issues.
I am not the one to write reviews unless it's absolutely necessary. I would not recommend this bar to my worst enemy. We were treated poorly and unfairly by the staff through condescending remarks and slow service. My party (60 people) rented out half the bar at a $2,800 minimum tab to celebrate an engagement. The whole night was a consistent battle to get the staff's attention and be served food and drinks. Due to only having access to one bar tender and slow service, we came up $1,400 short of the minimum tab. Instead of the Bearded Lady's staff understanding our frustration, they would not let us speak to a manager and demanded the residual payment. I have never been more disgusted with a staff crew in my existence. Please save your time, dignity, and money, and go someplace else.
This place was terrible. If it wasn't for the two dudes (who were regulars), we met here last night. We would have left. My friends and I stopped by this place last night after reading a good review, and we were highly disappointed. The bartenders looked like the joy had been snuffed out of their lives. They couldn't even crack a smile. My friend ordered the hotdog, which was cold, and the bread was old AF. It wasn't even that busy. We gave them the benefit of the doubt and left a good tip. Maybe someone died, or something terrible had happened, and they were all sad. Anyways I really hope they find joy or at the very least try and find a job that makes them happy.
Went here last night and had a terrible experience with a bartender who was being rude and dismissive. He ultimately overcharged me for cocktails I never ordered.
my small group of queer POCs came here and the bartender very literally stole my credit card and only gave it back when my friends and i made a fuss about it (for twenty minutes) and wouldn't leave until we found it. stay far away.
