Opinions de Tikal Cafe Brooklyn
Been coming here for a while now and they consistently have delicious food made with fresh ingredients and balanced flavors. The waffles are to die for! The breakfast sandwich is superb and the Mediterranean breakfast is wonderfully savory and filling. There aren’t very many things on the menu and keeping things simple is very effective quality control. The coffee drinks are always well made and tasty. They are always very nice and have no pretentious hipster attitudes, especially for an area of Bushwick that isn’t fully gentrified.
Very cute spot with delicious, hearty food and great coffee. Loved the vibe here too.
Staying in the neighborhood and stopped by this new spot that opened about a 1.5 years ago. It’s a coffee shop that offers tons of tasty bites and cocktails as well. I got the green juice and coffee. The service was excellent and I’m glad we got to check out this local spot in Bushwick.
Ordered a golden tumeric latte and it was really good!! they usually don’t make it tasty, im happy that gave this place a try. The staffs were super friendly too.
This place was lovely. Food was great, staff was friendly. The Croissant sandwich was soo good! Will definitely be back.

I love this cozy coffee shop, the employees are so warm and welcoming and the food is prepared perfectly. I love that all the food is really flavorful and well spiced without being too salty. 😋
Love this cafe. hard working and sweet staff. Very good food
One of our favourite local spots for breakfast/brunch. Lots of different drinks to try (with different specials each season) and consistently good food, including a few gluten-free options. My husband loves the burger too (and he is fussy about burgers!)
Everything is super fresh and delicious, and I love the way they serve the tea!
My favorite place for Sunday brunch or a quick grab and go latte with a sweet treat. Teresa and her team are so warm and are the reason I keep coming back. Tikal is such a gem; with new weekly specials, affordable and iconic cocktails, and the perfect spot for organic and health forward ingredients.

I love my avocado toast & fruit but sometimes the fruit come with barely anything in it. I also order mimosa here & there & they always make my cup so small & only put a little in it.
Oh boy. This review got saved by how good the food was. Friendly service in a somewhat small restaurant. Service was VERY slow though. Don’t come here in a rush or even in a group. Disorganized as far as orders and food coming out. I watched my plate be put on someone else’s table (mind you I was sitting and ordered first and they were about to be served before me). My avocado toast with eggs benedict was delicious. I noticed I wasn’t the only person who cleaned my plate so I suppose most dishes here are good. I didn’t love my smoothie, but the cost of everything was honestly reasonable so I’m not too upset.

Five stars for ROSY only. Rosy is outstanding! I stopped in for my taro green tea matcha and chocolate croissant with my service dog — no issues at all. Another employee questioned whether I had paid, and Rosy calmly responded, “She paid cash.” I asked Rosy if everything was settled, and she kindly said yes. Although it was tacky and unprofessional of the other employee and/or supervisor to question her in front of a customer, Rosy handled the situation with grace and professionalism. I’ll keep it demure and not assume why she felt the need to ask if I paid. I also commend myself for remaining calm and composed.

This place is so cute, probably the cutest spot on the block. The staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is great with good coffee shop music. It's an ideal place to hang out or work remotely. The food presentation was nice , However the food is NO-BUENO. I ordered fried eggs and pancakes, and the eggs were so runny; they were almost raw, no salt no seasonings... and the pancakes were flat and flavorless. [They should consider a quick and easy buttermilk recipe to improve their pancakes (just add lemon to the recipe to react with the baking soda and make the pancakes fluffy)]. Additionally, the food took a very long time to arrive. It's a shame because the spot is adorable, but they really need to improve the food quality. I will go back again but maybe just for coffee. This is an up-and-coming neighborhood so I am rooting for shops that open up in our neighborhood. I hoping they train their chef on how to make tasty eggs and pancakes.
The chicken plant-based sandwich had zero of it. I complained to the cashier; they said the cook said they put one piece, but as I was showing it to them right after I bought the sandwich, the sandwich only had peppers. It was basically a pepper sandwich -- which was not what I paid for. I live around the corner, and this place could've been my go-to..... But the workers were not friendly and ignored my complaint; they preferred to listen to the cook.
Last week I went to buy two large lattes and two almond croissants, I really like this cafeteria, the coffee is delicious and the food as well, but I have never had an unpleasant moment with any employee of this cafeteria, she gave me the small glass and said that if I wanted a large latte I had to ask for an extra large latte, and they had never done this to me in this cafeteria, they had always served me well and they always gave me exactly what I asked for, apart from everything the coffee was poorly made and when I opened it it was too greasy, even though it was regular milk my latte seemed like it had little yellow fat balls in it, what a shame because something like that had never happened to me 🙁

This place charges premium prices for bargain-bin service. The cashiers always look lost, like they’re solving a math equation instead of taking an order. Multitasking? Doesn’t exist. Remembering what you asked for? Good luck. It took 10 minutes to get a simple black coffee—were they harvesting the beans in the back? For what they charge, you’d think they’d at least know what’s going on. Save your money and go somewhere that serves coffee and competence.
I came to this cafe to do work on a Saturday. I got my coffee and sat at a table. I was told about 15 minutes later that I would need to move my seat because I was planning on doing work and had not ordered food. I have never been micro managed at a cafe before. I would have preferred if there was a sign that said, "No laptops" before purchasing so that I could go elsewhere. I also want to note that after I moved, no one was sitting at the table I was originally sitting at and instead they put "reserved" placements. Even though this cafe is two blocks away from home, I will not be returning. Also, after reading the owners responses to the reviews, there is a true lack of accountability at this cafe and its clear that they're prioritizing profit over customer satisfaction. After paying nearly $4 for a drip coffee, I would hope that you would care about various customers expressing issues with the shop however, I am seeing a defensive owner that will not take accountability for their lack of management.
This place is overpriced. They only carry one size. $7.89 after tax for a medium cold brew. I asked for light ice, the server said “this is light ice”, I asked nicely for less ice and she brings back a drink that tasted like all cream and milk. Definitely my last visit.
I have been coming to Tikal Cafe for years, and will not be back after today. Today is my birthday, and I went to the cafe this morning just to quickly have their matcha waffles that I ordered and liked once before as dine-in. No drink and no fuss whatsoever- I wasn't planning anything special to celebrate, and just wanted to sit for a minute and eat before getting to work. Two minutes after I order my food, their front door that is ENTIRELY made of glass unlatches in the server/baristas hands. I immediately ran over to make sure she wasn't hurt and tried to stabilize the door until some help arrived, so that their front door wouldn't crash and shatter on the ground. This isn't a big deal to me, I am always happy to help. I helped lean the door against a heavy keg outside so that the server could make a call and do whatever else she needed to do. I waited outside for help to arrive in case the glass door started to slip, and did have to jump up to catch the door multiple times because of the wind outside pushing the door forward, and eventually just stood holding the door until the owner could get there. The owner arrived and said he had it, no thank you or anything, but it's stressful so that was okay and I understood. Over 30 minutes after I ordered (first order of the day, only one after mine), I still did not receive my food. By the time the person who ordered several minutes after me was given their food first, I gave up on my birthday breakfast, and asked to have my waffles packed to go when they were ready, so I could get to my work on time. I cannot express how disappointed I was to open my to-go box and see that they (the owner) only gave me the smallest amount humanly possible of both the whipped cream and strawberry cream after I personally saved them hundreds, possibly thousands of dollars saving their door without as much of a thank you. The waffles also tasted off, but I still would have come back the very next day if someone would have just communicated the long wait so I would know, asked if I wanted a refund, OR not have taken my order in the first place if there was no one to make it when I ordered it. I will not be back.
I paid for fresh pressed orange juice and got an artificial juice n I paid $17 dollars for it . New lady or manager is cutting corners to make money .
