Opinions de India Gate Buffalo
This is my favorite restaurant. The food is amazing, the buffet offers plenty of choices, and the price is very fair. Many of my friends are hesitant to try Indian food, but once they do, they'll be sure to come back again and again EDIT- They have been closed for a few months because of a fire, but now they're back open. They're as delicious as ever and the dining room looks better than ever. I'm thrilled!
Amazing Indian food and super vegan friendly. They have a separate vegetarian menu and tofu dishes menu and are very knowledgeable about what can be made vegan using coconut milk/cream. We had the tofu masala and it was so incredibly creamy and delicious. We also got paratha and roti bread and they just made it with no butter on it (bread itself does not contain dairy). Samosas were perfect, really everything was! Portions were HUGE and they were super generous with the rice (in my photo that is the rice for 2 entrees together in one container). Will definitely be back and highly recommend to any fellow vegetarians and vegans. The staff were also incredibly nice! Support small businesses during this difficult time!
Food was soooo amazing, great service, and so may vegetarian options. Can’t recommend enough.
always love the delicious food here and the staff are incredibly friendly ! my fiancé and i have been coming here for years and we've never disliked a single thing we've ordered. everyone i know who has eaten here has only had positive things to say and when there's so much good food in buffalo, that's definitely high praise. i will always come back here and couldn't recommend it enough!
We visited India Gate on Elmwood Ave. for lunch on a recent trip to Buffalo and the food, as usual, was fantastic! They offer many vegan options, so we had lots of choices. We decided to try some new vegan dishes, rather than our usual fare of Gobi Alu and Dal, since we had enjoyed eating here many times in the past and we were feeling adventurous. We ordered the Jeera Alu and the Baingan Bhartha and both were simply amazing!! Highly recommend these dishes. We forgot to order Roti with our meal, and when we requested it be added, our server thoughtfully asked if we would like it “dry” (without ghee). We were delighted that he remembered we were vegan and made a point to ask us. We are still swooning over this meal and will definitely be visiting again on our next trip.
I visited this place with my family to US. We ordered snacks like vegetable Manchurian, Gobi Manchurian, and beverages like Mango lassi, strawberry lassi and fig lassi (must try it) for main course paneer achari dish, garlic naan and complimentary rice. The staff gave you a lot of space and were not very present in the restaurant. The snacks itself was tasty but paneer achari on sour side not like that soo much. The prices are good and you get a large portion of food. The restaurant is spacious and you can take your time here. Not sure I would come here again, but I enjoyed my visit. It is a good place if you want a very long relaxed meal.
My favorite Indian place in all of Buffalo. Good portions, delicious food. Hosted my bridal shower and made it very wonderful and special.
My boyfriend and I have started going here ritually when we can’t agree on what to eat for date night. I love the atmosphere, great food, it’s very hospitable. I got a cocktail for the first time yesterday that I loved. Highly recommend!
Just like I remembered back in college days of 03-07!! Food is always hitting and the prices are great even after all these years and inflation!! Was looking like only one person was waiting on tables and cashing out the checks after you finished eating, he couldn't be everywhere at once but he was very good! The atmosphere is pretty dim lighting and very relaxed. I would recommend to anyone who loves Indian food or that is trying out for the first time!!!
The atmosphere is so beautiful, dim lighting, lovely color changing lights, framed velvet tapestries with glittering strands through them, bright colored walls with hand painted designs, blacklight lit art that glows with beautiful colors, the tables are spaced for adequate privacy, and they also have high backed comfortable booths which are extremely private. Theres always indian music playing which is really nice too. The Tv was showing different scenes from india. I wish I had taken more photos of the food but its so good that when my meal came i was so anxious to dig in that i forgot. we havent had anything bad here. although i suspect the sambusa may be frozen and not fresh, and I didn't like the paratha. (nellai banana leaf restaurant has Amazing paratha!) the chicken tikka appetizer was great. my friend said the lamb and vegetables was one of the best meals he's ever had. the chicken shahi korma, chicken muglai, and malai are all DELICIOUS!! All three are the best I have ever had from any Indian restaurant I've ever tried. i let my friend try some and he was in love with them also. you literally have to refrain from licking the bowls clean, thats how delicious they are. the kitchen took direction well, when i asked for my naan to be lightly baked, they did so, which i appreciated. the owner is super friendly and kind, I love this restaurant and we will always go back
India Gate is and always will be our go to place for Indian food. The atmosphere is inviting and relaxing, the food is a masterpiece for your tastebuds and the owner, as well as the employees are super friendly. My husband and I HIGHLY recommend this restaurant and give it 10 stars!!!
My husband and i were looking for AUTHENTIC Indian food and we googled india gate and to no avail, we made way to the restaurant. We ate lamb biryani and it was very delicious. Not dry and was all moist and juicy. We went back for the buffet and they had a lot of variety from chicken curry to vegetarian meals. Buffet is really cheap and is really worth the money. We will come back for the tandoori chicken because we saw a lot of customers ordering them and the smell still lingers in my nose. New edit October 2019: we went there again! Ate lamb biryani and still tastes the greatest. Ordered Keema Naan and it was delicious. I really love the strawberry lassi it was something new and tasty I would order it again. The wait was a little long but they practically just started dinner service when we showed up plus we had a fun time with the music playing in the background and awesome new interior design. Made it felt more romantic that last visit for sure. Will be going back again no matter what.
While working in Buffalo for the weekend my boyfriend and I stopped here for a bite to eat. We both got the butter chicken with a side of extra nan bread, it was very delicious! The chicken was soft and the butter sauce was super creamy. The nan was even softer and had a nice butter glaze to make it even more delicious. The portions are so large that we took almost half of our meal with us! A great price for the portion size. The only downsides aren't about their amazing food, the service was a tad slow and the bathroom was not clean. Next time we are in Buffalo we will defiantly stop back in, we recommend you do the same!
I visited this place with my girlfriend and her friends as a group outing. I got a paneer dish, some garlic naan, chai, and we all shared a pitcher of mango lassi. There is no pitcher on the menu but you can ask for this. The staff gave you a lot of space and were not very present in the restaurant. There was a strange man (not a worker) who kept coming in, peering in the kitchen window to look at the staff, and then going and stealing all the mints and lollipops. The food itself was tasty but not mind blowing. The prices are good and you get a large portion of food. The restaurant is spacious and you can take your time here. Not sure I would come here again, but I enjoyed my visit. It is a good place if you want a very long relaxed meal.
The food was pretty good and the interior is also well kept. Only issue I felt was the service here, my girlfriend asked the waiter nicely if he can wash the cutlery once and bring it back as it looked a bit dirty to us, he denied saying this is how it looks and said if you want I can bring a glass of water for us to wash it. The whole point of going out to eat will be ruined with such behavior.
