We went for lunch, driving over an hour specifically for Cuban fare. I ordered the oxtail which had a very flavorful sauce, but oxtail by nature has congealed gelatin wrapped around it which I had forgotten about. The rice and black beans were tasty, but the plantains a touch greasy for my liking. Service was good. I'd like to go back and try some more dishes but it's a long way from home.
We found it by mistake, 12/28/16, however it was close.. So we decided to come the following day.. and here we are..., food is delicious and we'll prepared we were seated promptly and server was very attentive. Did I mention the food is Awesome! ! If you have the appetite for lots of food then this is the place to come .. I drove from Portland Oregon to visit California, now I have found a reason to come back to visit LA. Cheers...
Terrific, ordered the garlic half chicken, absolutely awesome. My friend, a Venezuelan, had the ox tail, he went nuts! Loved it. And he is very picky about Cuban food.
Great food and wonderful people!!! Don't forget to ask for a Tony Montana. You will not regret it.
By far the Best Cuban Food in the San Fernando Valley. The owner is very personable and offers great service. The food is authentic and so good. It's like eating your Abuelita’s meals! Friday & Saturday nights you can enjoy Cuban music either by a Live band or a DJ. The place gets packed and it ROCKS!
Delicious, flavorful and authentic Cuban food. Best I've had in LA and in my opinion, comparable to Miami's Cuban food. I only had the Ropa Vieja and a rum punch, but there are 5-6 other dishes I will be back to try!
This is a wonderful cuban restaurant you might not ever know if someone didn't tell you about it. The meat dish is fantastic! So is the chicken. I get the mole sauce (lemon and garlic) and put it on everything! And the black bean soup. Try the Cuban coffee -- great both hot and iced.
Just came for the first time on my son’s recommendation. Everything was delicious. The sweet lady who waited on us was wonderful. We had the empanadas and masitas to start. Both excellent. For mains we had the Cuban sandwich which was very flavorful, the oxtail which was rich with a hint of spice, and the shrimp al ajo which was light and garlicky. All great.
I’ve been coming to this place for years. Food is amazing and the staff are lovely. The Lomo Saltado and Ropa Vieja are my favorite. Highly recommend this place. Recently celebrated a birthday here and hope to do it again soon. I don’t understand how someone can leave bad reviews for this family owned restaurant. They must be bitter.
What a hidden gem. The server was friendly, the Lomo Saltado and Ropa Viaja were outstanding. I even enjoyed the Flan, which i usually don't like.
The Rabo Encendido is a must-try—tender, slow-cooked oxtail in a rich, flavorful sauce that melts in your mouth. Don't forget to try their Mojitos. El Criollo is a delicious Cuban experience from start to finish!
Me and my friends had a great time. Awesome food and drinks followed by some fun dancing. And our waitress, Liz, was probably the friendliest and most accommodating waiters we've ever had. Can't wait to return!
The staff is always super friendly and the food is soooo amazing. Everything and anything that you get is delicious, but our favorites are the Lomo saltado and Ropa Vieja. The empanadas and potato balls are great too!!
The food is always good, and it's one of the few Cuban restaurants in the area. I've been going to El Criollo for decades, and this is the third location I've followed them to. The owners, William and Niurca have always been very personable and make you feel at home. I highly recommend it.
Amazing!! The people are so friendly and the staff are too koch. The owner is one of the most friendliest and best dancer that I have ever met. When you step into this amazing place, it's like going over to one of your relatives house!
This is not my first time. I was here pre- pandemic when they had dj nights and live bands. But it was my first time post pandemic. At the moment, they are not hosting dj nights or live bands. But it's ok because we came for some mojitos. We found out it was buy 2 for the price of one. I ordered a coconut and mango mojito. It was delicious. The second one was even better. I love Cuban food. I grew up eating it in my town back in NJ. I ordered a shrimp al ajillo with congrí (black beans and rice combined) with maduros. It was yummy. We had some yucca fries, flan, espresso, rabo encendido with white rice and black beans. I loved the food. I also love the atmosphere. Order ahead if you're impatient. We took our time with our drinks and meals. We were treated well. I hope to be back before I have to go back home to Ohio.
Qué sabroso! The food here is amazing, the service spectacular and the hospitality wonderful. We felt like we were eating a home-cooked meal because the food and generosity was filled with love. We shared the ropa vieja with white rice and beans, and plantains, and the pechuga de pollo a la plancha (with mojo de ajo - a garlic sauce!) with Moro rice and plantains. I also had a glass of the Cabernet Sauvignon which was really good for a house wine! We got to meet the cook who was so sweet. We’ll definitely be back again!
Nice little Cuban joint - real home cooking Had the lechón plate and empanadas, really cool!
"The food at El Criollo Cuban Bar and Grill is beyond incredible! Behind the scenes, Mom infuses every dish with love, resulting in the most mouthwatering Cuban cuisine you'll ever taste. Words can't describe how delicious it truly is!" And don't miss out on the perfectly mixed and incredibly tasty mojitos! WOW!! Delicious. Hurry over to this hidden gem in the small strip mall in Burbank (across from Costco) it's an experience you won't want to miss!
The owner and waitress are very nice. Good service and delicious food
Vegetarian tazon was absolutely delicious and so filling. Great place for Cuban food. A must try when in Burbank.
Amazingly delish. First time here and it was great. And the service was awesome. From the minute u arrive to the minute u leave. Alberto was very attentive and suggested my chicken plate. Great Choice. Thank you.
Authentic Cuban cuisine, lovely peaceful atmosphere, great customer service, large portions. Very satisfied with our visit.

Really lovely old couple, great sandwich (cubano) and fries, great service. Lovely size meal.
This place serves legit Cuban food—mojo pork, yuca fries, and plantains done right. I had the vaca frita, which was crispy, garlicky, and super tender. Their mojitos are strong and come with fresh mint. It's family-run and full of hospitality. I’ll definitely be back for the weekend live music
LOVE THIS PLACE. Cute family owned business. The environment when we go is always very low-key and welcoming. Food is delicious and made with love AND very reasonably priced.. and their drink specials are UNMATCHED (especially on Tuesdays). 100% recommend stopping here, we like to go before making our Costco trip:)
Great food. Great service. The owners father William is such a gem. Great conversation and so welcoming. Worth coming to enjoy the delicious food and Great bar. Service is not rushed. They give you time to drink your spirit conversate and just a no rush relaxing atmosphere. The best part they cater! 👍

The service was good and the food plentiful and delicious. We were there at opening for an engagement celebration with a toddler. The waiter was understanding about the mess and the spilled water. He's took pictures of us and we had a long and leisurely brunch. Atmosphere was good for the occasion and the background music not intrusive. It made us want to come at night for dancing. The only drawback is that we were there at opening, but they were late opening by almost a half hour. That is the reason for the 4 stars.
II went there today for the first time and I was very pleased. I’m very funny about my Cuban food these restaurant pass the test the congris and yuca needed more flavor, but the Ropa Vieja was very good. I will go back.!
The food here is amazing and their saltado is some of the best I've had. They generally arent very busy, so the food is super fresh. Get the vegetarian bowl (I add chicken) and you won't regret it!
Got a craving for Cuban the other day and my first choice was closed at an early 8pm. Not to be kept from satisfying my itch we found El Criollo. Good on them for staying open average hours. There's plenty parking available another plus. The ambiance was dark and quiet but with great music on. The volume was set so you can hear it but still have a conversation with your group. Drinks and food were excellent with good size portions. I'm not Cuban so I can't validate authenticity but I know good tasting food. Pricing is fair. There was a sign that they have dancing certain nights but it was hard to tell how or where that would take place. The only drawback to this establishment is the service is very slow. If your patient there's no problem if your starving the service will really try your patience. All in all I will definitely be coming back.
It was a cute restaurant, very chill, dimly lit, clean. The staff were incredibly nice and attentive. The food was pretty good! Portions not bad. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked. Tables were clean and clear. We didn't have to wait too long to be served. All in all, I recommend you check it out. :)
Service was good, food was good, but did not measure up to the taste of typical cuban fare with the exception of the Tamal. It was very tasty even though it was light on the meat filling. Restaurant was not very busy which I am assuming the latest surge in Covid cases has something to due with this, which I am also assuming had an affect on the over quality. I will return once the pandemic is under control.
The food is so delicious. If you are looking for some delicious Cuban food this is the place to come. Great clean place. Great service. My friend and I have been coming here for years. And every time that we come the food is always so delicious. I highly recommend. If you like Cuban food this is the place to come. I had rabo encendido. And it is so delicious.

All good, still second banana though... Filete de Pollo (that's what I know it as, chicken breast, onions and garlic), white rice and beans, sweet fried plantains...all very good, but for my money nothing beats El Floradita in Hollywood. The Cuban Sandwich I've had here and that IS excellent. Mojo (garlic sauce) is a bit more thin than I am accustomed to. Albert was excellent...friendly and on top of it.
A great place to enjoy authentic Cuban food. El Criollo Cubano serves delicious traditional dishes — the ropa vieja, picadillo, and lechón asado are very good. The atmosphere is relaxed, perfect for a quiet dinner and a refreshing mojito. Friendly service and genuine flavors make it a highly recommended spot for anyone who loves Caribbean cuisine. Nice music

I just had the Cuban sandwich and it wasn’t that great. My goal is to always have a Cuban sandwich anytime I’m near a new place. I was excited because this place had some solid reviews. I must note that the service was good. Five star for customer service. This rating is solely based on the sandwich. I did eat the whole meal as a note because I was taught not to waste food. 1. The bread seemed as if it was stale and crumbled easily. 2. There seemed to be no mustard in the sandwich. Bland from that standpoint. 3. The ham tasted like it was sandwich meat you buy at the grocery store. It wasn’t that good. 4. The pork was good but there was hardly any in it!!! 5. Overall no flavor and bland. If I come back I may try the media noche but not high on my priority list to try and make it back. I was extremely excited and wish it was made better.
Not the best Cuban food I’ve had, but when I didn’t want to drive far, it satisfied the craving. The ropa vieja was delicious, the plantains not sweet enough but still okay, and the potato balls were good. Service was amazing, which gave the whole visit a lift.

Almost everything took so long!!! Our drinks, the bread, the food. The only think that came fast was the bill. When we finally got our food, most of my plate was salty. My friends food was almost as if the chef counted the chicken. It was okay but I wouldn't go out of my way to go again and I wouldn't even recommend it.

salty food no love into the food. used to be amazing years ago but now it tasts like everything else. tasteless... The young waiter was too into his friends and not his customers. Took 10min to get his attention, and there was only 3 people in the whole restaurant myself my mother and his friend. Well no longer go there.
Never thought in my wildest dreams a so-called Cuban restaurant could mess up a simple sandwich as the Cuban Sandwich. This place did just that, the bread was not toasted, and the two types of ham were it. Where's the cheese, the pickle, and the mustard? Someone better get educated on how to make a Cubans sandwich and food. Don't let the name deceive you, the food is most Mexican.
The Lomo Saltado was gross. Everything was cold except for the tamal. Dirty dishes. The best part of the meal was the canned soda. Atmosphere was okay, nice music dim lighting. I don't recommend though.
We cane here by chance only and we thought it was good. We waited for 40 minutes for our order, the couple who came after us got their food first. When we asked where our order was, the guy said our order got mixed up. All he said was SORRY. Well, we left. Very unprofessional, bad customer service.
